they have a lot of great things at this location! i can confirm that their inventories are a lot better than the five below on 12mile, but is just as good as the rest on gratiot and hall rd. staffs are always friendly and say hi upon entering the store. lots of parking spaces. i've never seen it too packed at this location. read more

Great place to find things that you really don't wanna pay $10 for at Wallymart or Scarget. Yea,,, there,, I said it! The next level from the dollar shop, this is the spot for your next level cheap pleasures. Anywhere from mini lawn chairs, to back packs, to board games, even phone cases, you'll find them here at the 5 below. This is how the game goes,, you think of an item you're gonna buy at the big box shops. Now if your magic number is $5 for that item, chances are, you'll find them here at 5 below. Can't find anything of fancy, we'll there's also shelves and shelves and shelves of throwback candy. Sweet tooth kids would really find it extra hard not to pick something up in this shop. If you are a Family Dollar fan, then you will love this place. I didn't have an hour to stroll around this place since i had milk in the car. They didn't have what i was looking for; I only stopped in because I was patronizing a nearby store. This store caters to younger folks; tee shirts, smart phone covers and flip flops galore. I bought a birthday card for a dollar. It's cute, but Trader Joe's has nicer ones, and they are $0.99! If you know what you're looking for, you may be in luck. Be prepared to leave with more than you bargained for. End Note: I only saw one person working today, so I had to wait a bit at the register for the lady to get there to ring me up. read more

Five Below is an all-purpose dollar store with several distinct departments. All the amenities you might expect are here, including inexpensive toys, cheap greeting cards and wrapping paper, and photo frames. Five Below carries a broader array of fitness gear and outdoors supplies than any other dollar store I've been into, and I walked away with a functional $5 yoga mat for the office gym. Electronics fall into the inexpensive and probably dubious, or pretty good. Looking for a first to third generation Kindle cover, or a iPhone 3X or 4X screen protector? A wall of options are available. Nooks, some Androids, and iPads also see plenty of love, though my Kindle Touch and Samsung phone were out of luck. Chargers for micro and mini-USB are a dime a dozen, and a far cry cheaper than TJ Maxx or Best Buy. As ever, your mileage may vary with off-brands, but they're a good, cheap backup. I pick up my hair elastics and ties here, rather than pay the rip-off drugstore prices charged by Goody and other major company. I lose 'em easily enough that 25 elastics for $2 will do just fine. They also carry lots of barrettes and ribbons, cosmetics (that personally I wouldn't touch), and jewelry that's more glitter than substance. Other things, like socks and mittens, are comparable to Walmart in quality and price. Asian snacks -- Pocky, the koala bear cookies, and so forth -- carry a bit of a premium price for a shop in a Korean and Chinese corridor. The Asian Market, as a previous reviewer noted, is much cheaper. The food section is blessedly small and I otherwise failed to note anything of interest. Gewgaws, stocking stuffers, and small presents can be found in abundance. Do you need an Angry Birds keychain or pencil topper? Find it here. Sandcastle pail and beach rake? Right beside the towels and plastic chairs. Seasonal varieties change up the stock, and they seem to be pretty decent all in all. Cashier service was slow but friendly. read more

Okay...not to insult Jason W., but maybe you should cool down a bit before writing a review to make your review a tad more rational. I don't know what happened to you, but I have had good, if not great experiences shopping here. I'm a high school senior, which means I'm pretty short on cash since I'm saving for textbook money, down payment on car, etc. Five Below is an amazing place for the average teenager/college student/bargain hunter. Product variety is ridiculous here. I mean seriously, they have nearly everything! I have been travelling frequently lately, so the travel-sized products have come in handy, and I love the durability of the weekend bag I purchased there. I have had reservations about getting $5 headphones and doubted that they would be of decent quality, but when I put them on for the first time it surprised me that the sound quality was actually pretty good! The Japanese candy could be bought for cheaper at an Asian food store a mile and a half away though. In response to Jason's accusations of Five Below pulling a "bait and switch" on you, there is a sign that explains that the reasons why the prices are low is because there are no returns. Perhaps you didn't see it? I have very few complaints, where most are directed towards the organization in the phone case section. Took me a while to find a decent case without tampered packaging. Seriously, there's ripped boxes and some of them don't even have cases inside them! Hate to say it, but it looks like this place gets shoplifted frequently, which is kind of unsettling. Also, $3.99 for a small bottle of nail glitter? I don't do my nails that often but when I glanced at the price...jeez. Overall, great store with products you can trust, reasonable prices for most items, little bit iffy on organization (and maybe security?), and a breeze going through checkout. read more

My review is on this particular location and it's employees...not on Five Below in general. Five Below has some awesome products at very cheap prices...and a lot of brand name items. I usually always enjoy my experience with Five Below- unless I go to this location. Every time I go there, the employees are SO rude. This last time I went was the last straw. No one greets you when you walk in. The only employee I saw by the entrance was stacking (or should I say slamming) boxes of headphones on a shelf. No eye contact at all. I wondered around the store for a while, and an employee came stomping down one of the aisles I was in. I moved out of the way, and she just missed pushing into me. I'm the one that ended up saying excuse me and she completely ignored me. Then I get in line at the register. The line was completely backed up and there were only two cashiers. Another employee (I assumed the manager) came up and yelled at one of the cashiers about the line. She then proceeded to plow through the people in line all while groaning, rolling her eyes, and doing the sign of the cross on her chest. Completely inappropriate of management! Finally I cashed out, and I was trying to put my debit card back in my wallet, but the cashier was too impatient for that. Instead she kept shoving my bag toward me, saying "I can help who's next," and she ended up shoving my iphone which went flying off the counter onto the floor. I thought the selection was nothing to rave about, not even for $5 and less. Most of the stuff seems to be no-rating-available manufacturer-unknown junk. What I am rating mostly is the extremely poor service I received tonight. This is how my visit went: Me: How much are the greeting card? Cashier: Don't know. Depends on the card? Me: Is it a percentage off? Cashier: Depends on the card. I am not typically at the register. I typically work the floor. I walked away and returned with a card that was a good representation of most of the cards available. Me: (handing the cashier the card with a $4.95 price tag) How much is this card? Cashier: (cashier scans the card) That card is $4.95. The card looked like it should cost no more than $1.50-$2.00. I put the card back, browsed around some more. After about 5 minutes, I finally realized that this crappy store is not for me and I left. If you like crappy stuff with crappy service, go right a head - have at it! This visit was a waste of my valuable gas and time. read more

I was at Five and Below and got a phone case and a water bottle. I put my phone case on in the car and there was a rip in the top of the box. I got it out and tried to put it on my phone and it was broken. So I went back into the store and exchanged it for a new one. Then I bought a water bottle and It didn't have a top on it. I am not pleased right now read more
