Attended a beauty event celebrating 125 years. This wasn't the best execution of a Nordy Event but the 15% off most beauty (and hair!) products was really great. They had a DJ, complimentary beverage (a fruity concoction), a fun cookie, and a few drawings. In order to enter the drawing, they provide you a business card sized card that you fill up with stickers after you visit 6 different stations. Well, the stations were not manned and no one knew about the stickers so the team was scrambling to sort that out. In the end, they gave the stickers to the employees at the registers. Aside from that hiccup, it was an enjoyable event and the ladies representing Kiehl's, Clarins, and Olaplex were the absolute best! read more

I have been a loyal Spa Nordstrom customer in Troy for more than 13 years, and unfortunately, the level of customer service has declined significantly over the past several years. I have had multiple appointments changed because an esthetician was unavailable, and since the pandemic, evening appointments have become extremely difficult to get. I continued going because I had a regular esthetician I trusted. Unfortunately, my experience this past May was especially upsetting. The esthetician I was scheduled with arrived 30 minutes late, which resulted in a rushed eyebrow wax. I ended up with a waxing burn that removed skin above my eyebrow. After that, I simply decided I would no longer book with that esthetician and would return to my regular person. I made an appointment with my regular esthetician months ago for this Sunday and confirmed it. About an hour later, I received a call telling me she would not be working that day. I was offered another esthetician, but after my experience in May, I was not comfortable doing that. The timing was particularly frustrating because I am leaving for a trip this weekend, so I had to scramble to find another spa that could fit me in before I leave. After 13 years, I have decided I will no longer be using Spa Nordstrom. Nordstrom used to be synonymous with exceptional customer service, which is why I remained loyal for so long. I went to this location and there was no valet or front door associate at the valet entrance to help me or provide a cart to return a very large package to the customer service desk. Additionally, the handicap access was broken and there was no way to hold the door as I struggled. Nevertheless, I made my way up to the third floor in distress and was greeted by an associate who said "Oh, dear, you should've called for us to help." Ma'am, with what phone and to whom? At any rate, I attempt to make my return with receipt and asked for the original amount to be placed on a different card. Despite having the receipt; they insisted that they couldn't and expected me to either take a $700 store credit or take the oversized item back to my car without assistance. I did them a favor and let them credit the $700 back to the original payment method and not make a sale/transaction of equal amount. It makes me no difference--if they want to operate like the other department stores who have since fallen by the wayside; then Nordstrom will, too, meet the same demise. I will not be shopping the Troy location in the future. I'd much rather go to Novi where the staff is more reasonable and the policies don't impact customer service. read more

Wow. Sales people are all smiles. But they don't help I waited patiently while the sales lady rang up a customer. I had a coat to return that I purchased online. Instead of waiting on me next she said she had to help a lady to the fitting room. Hmmmm? Then I looked over and she was carrying a pile of clothes. How rude and disrespectful. Nordstrom Somerset in Troy, MI a Job fair today. I had a scheduled interview today at 2pm. I was greeted by the rudest person ever. I wish I had got the man's name but he was Asian and very rude. I applied online for a part time seasonal position and he was telling me I need to be able to work seven days a week and hours 7am to 10pm. Who works that many hours part time all while talking to me in front of the entrance to the store. Nordstrom should train their people better. Some people really need a job. I have long been a fan of this particular Nordstrom due to the excellent customer service. After my experience over at the zoo that is Twelve Oaks, it was nice to come back to the much more sane Somerset. I was doing some online shopping for both Mother's Day and a birthday, when I noticed that the items I was ordering were both in stock here locally, and available for curbside pickup. I'm a fan of curbside pickup, and I really hope that post-pandemic this is something that stays. I've done curbside pickup at other chain stores and restaurants, but this was a first with Nordstrom. Of course I didn't bother to read the email telling me where to go, so I pulled into the front parking lot like I normally would if I were shopping regularly. After a lap around the lot and not seeing any signage, I parked my car and pulled out my phone. Curbside pickup is only on the lower level of the parking deck. I drove around to the parking deck and found the curbside pickup where they used to block off for valet parking. Here they had 10 designated spaces in the first row facing the store, all very clearly marked 1-10. Once you arrive, you can check in on the email or call. I did both. When I called, the employee confirmed my order, and within minutes I had my order and was good to go. I'm very pleased with this service, and the exceptional customer service. 10/10 would curbside pickup from Nordstrom again. read more

Customer service is horrible. Very rude I went there specifically for SKIMS and to ask for a few items and once I seen that I couldn't find any on the shelves. I asked her them to check the stock and they said nope they're out and she didn't even push a button and then I went out looking for another 30 minutes and I found a whole section. When I went back up to check out, she took the person behind me and said to her, oh hi ma'am are you all good? Let me check you out and she ignored me completely. I had to leave my stuff at the counter and walk away because I don't believe in that kind of treatment . so I don't know what I did wrong to deserve that because I usually always shop at Nordstrom and pay extra to have it same day compared to ordering online at SKIMS. But I guess that's how some people are. With no manners. Not all people are that way but some and that will be her downfall in life. The absolute WORST Nordstrom in the entire country. Coming from someone who travels extensively. I can give countless examples, but the overall feedback is that they consistently are not attentive, lack basic retail knowledge which showcases poor training from leadership. The worst department is specifically the woman's department on the second floor where they house the coats. FIVE TIMES, I went there five times in a row to find a winter coat. Staff passed by me and saw me looking and did not address me. When I went in there to purchase an item, an older lady saw me waiting in line (the only one) and did not address me once even though it was about 15 minutes. Oh and I can speak for my friend who had a horrid encounter with the manager there a few months ago. Do better, train better. This Nordstrom location had always been great. It's located inside Somerset mall with their own coffee bar (Ebar & Marketplace Cafe) just outside the lower entrance. I think it's easy to feel judged if you aren't dressed like you've just come from Rodeo Drive, but I don't get that vibe from the staff here at this location. In the past I've bought watches, colonge, shoes, and some clothes for work. Each experience was always pleasant. Plus you get to rack up some points. Recently I was here browsing for a potential new suit for a wedding I am attending this summer. If I'm not mistaken one of the managers helped me out with just about everything from color to size. In addition I had someone help with picking out some shoes as well and I ended up getting everything I needed. Customer service here is always great and for now I'll continue to come back. read more

Great service here tonight, as always whenever I am here. Tried on several coats with Adriya, who just returned from maternity leave recently. She helped me try on so many coats, finally settling on a size, style and color. Adriya walked us down to the men's coats and helped try on some downstairs too. Keep in mind each coat had to be unlocked and disconnected from the rack to try them on. We then walked over to the men's shop to look for some JM boots but they no longer carry that brand. Adriya took us to a shoe register to call a store in chicago to make sure they had had the coat I wanted to order, size, color and style. She confirmed my address, phone and verified all information. She even told me if I got the Nordstrom credit card I would get $60 towards my next purchase. I took a pass but thanked her. While I enjoy Nordstrom, I was shocked when I entered the fitting room where they do alterations. The room is badly worn out and in need of refurbishment. There isn't even a decent place to hang your clothing. Nordstrom charges a lot of money for alterations if you didn't buy the clothing from them. Customers deserve a nicer fitting room. read more

My son is getting married so I need a fancy schmancy dress. I normally avoid the mall, especially Somerset, but I figured nobody was going to be impressed if I showed up in my thrift store outfits. They are doing COVID well, all clerks are wearing masks. I was happy to see the dressing rooms were open, unlike all the other stores I've tried lately. It's pretty hard to commit to a $400 dress when you can't try it on. The saleswoman, Jen, was excellent. She found several dresses for me to try and came to the dressing room between each to help with zippers and give an opinion. I ended up ordering one in my size. A few days later when my dress showed up at my house, Jen called to follow up and see how it fit and if I needed anything. That is customer service! I appreciate how clean and well organized their store was and the fact that they actually had someone to not only check me out but to help me find the items I was looking for. Oh Nordstrom, how I love thee ! :) I love all the variety of classy clothing and home decor. I love the sales clerks- they are always so friendly and helpful. If I need an evening gown or just casual clothes for the beach, I know I can find it here. Good quality items that are made well and a step above average. I love triple point days, and receiving certificates of shopping dollars in the mail every so often. Even though this is a very nice store, they still have great deals- and they do it without making it feel like some discount store. I love the decor, and the cafe. I like knowing that anything I buy is going to be wonderful- and if for some reason it isn't. I can return it up to a year later with no questions asked. Truly a classy store. read more

You would think with Nordstroms in-store sales slumping, sales associates would be more receptive to helping customers-but they are not at this store. Increasingly I stand in line to be rung up for 5/10 minutes on the second and third floors with one person ringing up sales or no one at the register at all. In cosmetics, shoes and handbags sales associates are tripping over each other to wait on you but upstairs is like a whole different store. Those floor managers need to be coached on helping customers at point of sale locations and add more sales associates. Keeping your numbers good and not forsaking customer service is a fine balance- but you expect more from Nordstroms when shopping in-house. read more

This is a 3 storey Nordstrom at Somerset Collections. I was looking for ugg boots for a girl and there kid apparel is on the third floor. I have never seen such a stupid set up waiting to check out. You have to pick a number and wait for your number to be called. I didn't even know if they had the colour or size in stock and I had to wait there for about 20 to 30 minutes just to find out thy didn't have what I wanted. Why couldn't they just answer my question when I tried to ask, instead they made me waste time by standing in this line ... On top of everything people brought their sick children to the store, so I had to wait around sick kids! Their are better Nordstrom locations, just because this is a 3 storey location doesn't mean they have friendly staff or a better layout... read more
