Macy's stores vary by location. This particular store has seen a lot of improvements in cleanliness and orderliness in the past couple of years. I came in looking for a specific winter coat style/color. They have lots on sale - most discounted 50% with some even more. I found 5 different makes of the coat I was in search of. After trying them on, it came down to two. Due to people moving things around and signs not always correct, I looked for a price checking machine. They used to have them throughout the store (I hope they add them back!) but I could not find any in the usual spots so I asked a worker. Instead of telling me where one was, she took me to the empty register and scanned both coats. Both were on an excellent sale so I wanted to try them on again for a direct comparison. When I decided, Olivia helped me at the register. She was quick and helpful. I love my new coat - and thanks to Punxsutawney Phil, I'll have about 6 more weeks to enjoy it. read more

Been here a few times but the recent visit was EXCEPTIONALLY great! I was looking for a sport coat and was roaming through the store when I stumble across the "Boss" section. It's a nicer brand of suit jackets that Macy's carries. Met a worker named Dominique and he was quick to begin understanding what I was looking for and quick to help. He worked with me for about an hour trying on different coats and looking in the back for other sizes. He really put a lot of effort in while managing other customers that came up with similar questions. I was very happy with his service and ultimately bought a jacket that he recommended and helped me get fitted for. We purchased a few more things while we were there on different floors and found what we needed pretty quickly! read more

I had a great experience in the coat area with Mari. She made sure to greet me while I was looking through coats and genuinely wanted to be of help. She provided recommendations and was patient as I figured out which coats I wanted to purchase. I truly appreciated the overall experience. In addition there was another sales associate that I came across when I first got to the store. I asked her where the coat area was, she stopped what she was doing to walk me over to the area instead of just providing verbal directions. I truly appreciated the overall service. I went to Macy's to look for a mother of the bride dress. I had been several places and decided to give them a try. Upon entering the dress department there were racks shoved full of dresses. I began gathering items to try on. As my arm is getting heavier, I look around to see if there is anyone to help. I finally get someone to place my items in a fitting room. The condition of the room is another thing. No one had swept, mopped or made any attempt at cleaning. I didn't want to take my shoes off. This needs to be addressed! On the bright side I did find my dress here. And it was a better value than other high end stores. read more

I was expecting more from this Macy's as it's at Somerset Collection. There weren't any associates around. I can understand though. It was slow. For as large as this Macy's is, there was barely any customers. There are three levels. They sell what you see at any other Macy's: clothes, shoes, handbags, jewelry, cosmetics, etc. I was there to pick up a MAC lipstick. Cosmetics is on the lower level. I got lucky that day. All MAC lip products were 40% off. I picked up the lipstick with the matching lipliner. The associate that rang me up did text me a few days later to see how I liked the lipstick, which was a nice touch. read more

I had not bought anything at the store for over a year. My account was expired. A very lovely lady made everything clear and simple regarding my purchase of a pair of shoes. Lubna was WONDERFUL. NOT happy. We were there a month ago. I found a pair of boots, I was on the fence, the lady told my husband we would get a 20% discount if we opened an account. I DIDN'T WANT to open a new account, but he went along to be nice. We did not get a discount of any kind. I'm telling him to cancel the account because I thought it was going to be a store card and it turns out to be a Citibank account. When we tried to get the issue resolved, the staff was unbelievably rude and dismissive. The managers synthia were snappy, condescending, and downright mean. It took 40 minutes of arguing just to deal with their complete lack of professionalism. Which at the end was canceled. Step up on my soapbox!!! Macy's I been a loyal customer for 30 years but you can count your fuckin days i see why you are closing store. How is it that i was put on hold for 1 hour and 45 minutes for the supervisor KIM to get on the phone and not even apologize. So i ordered a Christmas giftfor someone and it came today but Macy's to leave the security tag on. So not only did y'all leave me on hold for almost2 hours for Kim to tell me try and take it to another store to get the security tag off. I said No so than she tells me she will send me another but i have to wait the 3-6 business days ( which she said working days like im dumb and don't know what business days mean) but anyway and she will send me a return label so i can send it back. So not only THIS IS YOUR mess up but i have to take more time out of my day to send it back still NO apology until i said something to her about it. Horrible customer service. How would you feel getting a gift with a security tag on it and someone give it to you @Macy's. Do better. But in the meantime i will be putting this on Google review and yelp reviews. I have been a Hudsons, Marshall Fields, and Macy's customer since I was a child in the 60's, my mother and I would "marathon shop", and always find beautiful things, while enjoying the personalized customer service. As we all know the world of in person shopping has changed, but Sheena at the Somerset location of Macy's is the epitome of what outstanding customer care was and is. My mother passed in March of this year, and I went to Macy's at Somerset for a few items prior to her funeral services. I was greeted and assisted by Sheena, and while engaging in small talk, I explained that my mother had passed, she actually came around the counter and gave me a hug as we wrapped up our transaction. I saw her again in September, and she remembered me and our previous conversation. She is genuine, kind, compassionate and truly a wonderful addition to your team. Beautiful on both the inside and out. She is the embodiment of customer care, she should be training your staff. read more

Great sales prices at Christmastime! I came the day after Christmas (yikes!) with my mom so she could buy me a coat. I really thought it would be a zoo the day after, but the garage was half full, and we got a great space outside the door on the second level of the garage, that just happened to be the level the coats were on. I swear they had 1,000s os winter coat. No way would I have survived if I hadn't looked online first. I pick out a coat that was a DKNY Macy's exclusive originally $215 on sale for $89ish. If you can believe it I actually found it (in the color I wanted) amongst the sea of coats. It wasn't even in the right spot. It was a large however, and the sales person said it was the only one. I figured I'd get it and exchange back at my hometown Macy's. Well, the large wasn't actually that large on me... (Diet time!) The price tag said $129, and when I showed the nice lady the online ad good through 1/1/19, she sold it to me (my mom) for that price AND I got to use an after Christmas 15% off coupon. My beautiful new coat cost just under $80! You gotta love Macy's for price, selection, and service. read more

Macy's is always our entry to the Somerset Collection. I like the 2nd floor and walking into the women's clothing collection and shoes. They have a decent variety of shoes, but it was so busy this Saturday that waiting for shoe sizes would be too frustrating. We browsed around the floor to see if anything else that caught my eye. Sadly this half dressed mannequin was the most amusing view during my visit today to Macy's. I felt mentally back in junior high giggling at such a silk sight. It looks like someone must have been distracted while dressing the mannequin. I also like the RL polo children collection for kid's for my niece and men's collection for my husband. read more

I actually really love Macy's. I'm curious to know how long their stores will stay open since they've closed a ton of them nationwide. I don't enjoy shopping on their website but prefer physically going to look at their clothes. It's always enticing walking through a Macy's. I came today to the Macys located at somerset mall in Michigan around 10:40am. I parked in the structure and had to bring in a few clothing articles from another merchant that I needed to return. I came in and I approached the register to ask the woman if I could have a bag so it didn't look suspicious walking around macys or the mall with clothing articles. The moment I approached the register the woman didn't say hello but instantly said "don't come up to me, I'm not working ay the register someone else can help you" in a very rude and unfriendly manor. So I simply asked if it was ok to have a bag to put the clothing in and she raised her voice and told me "No, this isn't my time on the register and we don't hand out bags!" I was taken back and told her I could purchase something at the register to get a bag and she literally yelled at me and said "no, we don't hand out bags and I'm not helping you, I'm not at the register" I couldn't believe the unprofessionalism from this woman. I was not able to grab her name but she was an older black woman with short hair. I will NEVER return to this location. On top of the ride experience while first entering, no one said hello and the store looked incredibly filthy and dirty. Unorganized and unstoppable. This store needs to be overseen, Macys can do better. read more

HORRIBLE!! I was promised I would not have to pay for furniture until item was fully delivered with all pieces. I've now been paying for furniture I have yet to receive for 5 months now. I ordered 8 months ago... when I try to get help I am left with horrible customer service and no help. I've been yelled at by managers and sales associates. I keep being passed around from person to person because nobody knows what they are talking about. I've been told multiple stories and explanations from different people. When I ask to speak to someone higher up, like regional manager, they tell me they can't do that. I expect to be compensated for this long, drawn out, HORRIBLE experience. Literally the worst I've ever had. I will NEVER recommend Macy's again. I will be sure to share my experience with everyone I know. I will make sure to share my reviews on all social media platforms. I'm sitting in the shoe department right now and I asked for sizes and it takes FOREVER!!!! They scan the shoe/s you want then you sit around and wait for about 15 min while someone in the back pulls your shoes. What happened to the day when you ask for a size your associate pulls them and Voila! 5 min process vs this 30 min process because I had to ask for another size. read more

This review is specifically about Nina at Clinique. Nina has been overly kind and helpful when my wife and I go there every six months or so to restock on makeup and skincare products. Nina has always taken time with us, not only to talk about products, but just to spend time talking... like human beings. She is personal, helpful, kind, funny... and it is refreshing to receive this kind of humanity anywhere nowadays. This store is a dump! I went to find a mattress and ALL of them looked like they had been on the showroom floor for YEARS!! When I asked the salesman for a covering (to test out the beds) he gave me a towel from their home goods department (it still had the tags on). Wow!! So...I discovered that the Somerset Macys doesn't have paper coverings for their customers & they reuse the same two towels from their store...for multiple customers...and there's COVID going around...yuck! After that experience, I also knew why their mattresses looked so bad (no coverings). Stay away from this petri dish of an area! read more

Do not buy any fine jewelry here. They do not stand behind their products. I bought my niece a gold plated set of earrings and matching necklace. The earrings tarnished beyond recognition but the necklace remains fine. They're less than a year old, worn only once and starting to tarnish prior to them being worn. They do nothing outside of 60 days. These are dressy and she didn't have a reason to wear them till & months after purchase. The manager said I should have bought their insurance.
