Neiman Marcus at the Troy location has the most arrogant, ridiculous and terrible customer service. This is my first time shopping at this store because I need a last minute foundation. First of all when you walk in, there is no one working. I can totally understand why now. When you walk in, no one will greet you or ask what they can help because they are too busy chatting with each other. After some struggles, I purchased a foundation that was not the one I wanted originally and the sales told me that I can return it if the color was not matched in 30 days which was clearly stated on my receipt Then, I decided to not want that foundation because of the color mismatch and I had an allergic reaction from the color match in store I sent it in the mail to that store and I waited for 2 weeks for their reponse. They basically ignored me until I call them 2 weeks later to ask about my status of the return. All I got after that was "honey it takes at least a month." so I waited. The next day they called me back and accused me of using a lot of the foundation and how they could not return an used item when I didn't even open it. She said they had a way to check it but the foundation bottle is colored, not transparent. I tried to explain to her about how I didn't want this to begin with and she pressured me to buy it and I had a serious allergic reaction from it. She basically said there was nothing I could do and we couldn't return. I said can I talk to your manager and she said yes she will call me back the next day. Not only they didn't call me back, but they just automatically shipped me back the defect foundation and called it a day I will say I am very disappointed about this kind of inconsiderate customer service from a well-known high ended department store. Some of the worst customer service I've ever received from this place. I went to pickup an online order and asked a sales associate if they could point me in the right direction and they looked me up and down and acted like they were too good to help me? Not sure what world that sales associate lives in but learn some customer service. Nordstrom and Sak's Fifth never have this problem. I'd advise you to go there so you don't deal with shitty customer service when you're spending $1000+ with the a store regularly. PS - not sure what the scrubs name was who needs to learn some customer was but he was a younger/middle aged middle eastern guy with his hair slicked back and some cheap gold frames. renee the store manger at troy I'm location was extremely rude and not willing to help with a fragrance that I received as a gift that was not used and just the box opened. I called the Chicago neiman marcus and asked a sales associate what the exchange policy is for the fragrance that hasn't been used at all but just the seal open on the packaging and she said you can most definitely do an exchange as long as the fragrance hasn't been used. Does the store even sell things anymore? I went here looking for some holiday apparel. Think glam. Think luxe. Color me surprised when I walked into what looked like the Macy's at Oka Mall. This store is a vast wasteland of nothing. There is virtually nothing in stock, and even less people to help you with any questions that you may have. After spinning in circles for probably 30 minutes trying to find cocktail dresses and realizing there weren't really any in the actual store, I turned around and left. During the entire time I was in the store not a single associate approached me. To be fair I don't think I actually even saw an associate. read more

Neiman Marcus Troy is worst retail store that you can choose to shop. It's like a ghost town , there is no one ever there to help . If you see any employees they usually seating on the chair , ignoring you because they are busy talking with couple coworkers . Couple times I got some makeup and skincare from Lancome and Giorgio Armani and guess what when I came home I opened the box and the product looked old . When I checked the expiration dates it was expired 3 years ago . I realised why Neiman Marcus has products in stock when no one has it , it's because they don't have clients coming in their store to buy it and they keep it in the counters for years . If you go back with old product their managers were so rude and they will tell you they can't return it and it's my fault not checking expiration date . I ordered a pair of Tom Ford Pad Lock Heels for a special occasion this past Tuesday.. I paid overnight shipping as well, the shoe didnt ship out after two days. I contacted the store two days in a row and was promised the shoe would be here by Friday 2/16. however.. I received a email at 3am stating that the shoe will now arrive Monday 2/19. My boyfriend and I walked over to Neiman Marcus this afternoon to check out the Stone Island collection after receiving very bad service over at the Saks Fifth Avenue store. We were treated exceptionally well by Larry and Barry! Larry greeted us right as we walked into the men's section and was so incredibly helpful. The selection of the Stone Island merchandise was also amazing! Larry and Barry didn't just give wonderful customer service but were extremely friendly and I believe truly enjoyed talking with us. I can't recommend them enough for their remarkable service! We walked away with a great deal on the items we bought as well as some complimentary water bottles which was really kind of Larry to grab for us after such a long and fabulous conversation! So today I did curbside pick up. I called in letting them know I was there for pick up (there was a car in front of me that was waiting as well). The woman comes out hand the person their items and walks back in. Now it's my turn.. the lady is having a hard time finding my item and when she finally finds it and says she's coming down. I came here for makeup. I was color matched to a shade that was too muddy for my skin tone which I discovered when I got home. I was only offered two choices and so when I went to return the foundation, mysteriously, there's another shade the sales associate offered me that is my correct shade. However, NM doesn't offer returns on foundation even if you are color matched incorrectly. Also, everyone knows the lighting is weird in malls and department stores. Needless to say, NM is kind enough (sarcasm) to offer an exception to their own rules and shortcoming and offers an exchange. Of course, upon my now THIRD trip, they do not even have the shade that matches me in stock to ship or buy in store. So yet again, I'm going home with a shade that doesn't match because the manager Sara has stipulated that I can only exchange the product for the correct shade. Yes, the shade that's not even in stock. I am beyond frustrated. If it wasn't for the mimosa I just enjoyed I'd say more. However, I fully understand why NM is depreciating as a company and the store always seems very empty. They only care about the sell not the client. I even asked for a gift card instead of taking the wrong color home again. I was told no. Lol. There needs to be a serious revision of policies here and also a revamp in managerial coaching. What a mess! At least the bartenders are enjoyable and the drinks are nice. Update as of 12/9/2022: They (Sara & Luma) offered me a refund today solely because of this review. That would make it my FOURTH time going back to the store for what could have been rectified on the FIRST visit to return the item when I asked for an exception because I did not know beauty was included in their return policy as it is not stipulated. Store is clean and has an excellent selection of woman's clothes. The men's clothes is a mess! By mess I mean that the entire department of casual clothes is for the hip hop generation. What happened to fine designer shirts and pants? It's all this heavy jeans and loud shirts that belong in a rap video. Salesman was great at ignoring us. He stayed on the phone while I looked at him and hinted that I needed a new belt. He just continued his conversation on the phone. Do not go there! Horrible service for men! I am really more of a Neiman Marcus kind of guy as I feel Saks Fifth Avenue is old money (snobbish) and Neiman Marcus is new money (young and hip). I have had a Neiman Marcus card for years but, do 99% of my Neiman's shopping online as we don't have a Pittsburgh location which I still don't understand. I was so excited to shop at this location that I parked in the garage directly connected to it. I must say that the store is as beautiful as the rest of Somerset Collection. Nice and open with tons on natural light. We made our way to the woman's shoe department to check it out. The selection was much better than anywhere else I've seen in a long time. Every high end designer and brand you could think of was well represented. The sales people were very pleasant and eager to help at a moment's notice. After we finished in the woman's shoe department we made our way to the three other floors of the store and explored before finishing in the men's shoe section. The tiny men's shoe section was a major disappointment compare to the quite large woman's shoe department. The men's section did have some really nice luxury sneakers that I haven't seen anywhere else. My main complaint like most of the other reviews was the service or should I say lack of I received while trying to make a purchase in not only the men's shoe department but, the fine fragrances counter as well. I was completely ignored. I did however receive outstanding service at the nearby Saks Fifth Avenue at the other end of the mall. Now I know this treatment does not represent all of the Neiman Marcus locations as I have received exceptional service at the Atlanta and Washington D.C. locations in the past. In fact the service I received at the Atlanta location was so good that I opened up a Neiman Marcus card on the spot. I waited 10 mins and she stepped out from the back and told another customer she didn't have what they needed, then she told me she was grabbing the shoes and she would be right back. Five stars just because they have the most knowledgeable Shoes Sales Associate (Miss Tia) that I've ever met. She has been in the shoe business 45 yrs +/- (sorry, can't recall exact amount of time). She was personable, down to earth and actually cared about making sure I was fully satisfied with my $$$ shoe purchase. She taught me a lot about multiple designer shoes and how they would fit my particular toes, heel shape. Sometimes EU sizes/fit vary so much by designer and I'm always nervous when paying for luxe shoes as they are an investment so I want to get it right and not have buyer remorse. After 30 minutes, I learned more from her than the last 15 shoes salespersons I've met anywhere. I highly recommend if you see your shoe inventory as an investment or if you want to buy your first designer pair, see Tia. She made my day at NM! PS. It's true that the service in the rest of store is subpar, at best. Most customers seem to be ignored. They desperately need training - lucrative customers come from all walks. BUT Tia earned the store five stars and I will return just to see her. The rest of my shopping is at Nordstrom or Saks as their sales teams know me and are very helpful. read more

Okay - first thing's first - I do not buy clothes here. Not because I don't want to, but I simply cannot afford to, not even on the 2nd floor (the third floor is where they keep the really good stuff, Chanel etc. The second floor is slightly more realistic - Theory etc.). Now why would you torture yourself by going into a store that you can in no way afford? Here's the thing - brand name cosmetics cost the same at Neiman Marcus as they do at Macy's...at Nordstrom...at Sephora. But Neiman's has this old-school feel. The ceilings are high, the floors are marble, the display cases are pretty and the service is wonderful. And I like to buy my lipstick in a place full of gleaming glass and chrome, and Hermes scarves, and belgian chocolates. And then I like to go have a cocktail (a really true cocktail) at the counter at the Zodiac cafe and imagine all the ladies around me are wearing gloves. And on my way out, peruse china that will never make it into my house, and shoes that I cost more then my rent. The way I see it, I SAVE money by going to Neiman's because I can't possibly buy anything but stuff to put on my face there. But, after a trip, I feel slightly richer, carrying my butterfly bag into my 2002 Accord, and driving home to a city that once had stores that gleamed just like that. 3 stars is pretty accurate. I've had some TERRIBLE encounters w/NM, but the service I encountered at the CUSP dept more than made up for it. I had a $150 gift card for NM and needed to spend it before it expired. Long story short, there is an EXTREMELY RUDE and condescending lady working in the purse dept near Tory Burch/MBMJ/Rebecca Minkoff purses who reduced me to tears after yelling at me, accusing me of mistaking NM for Macys, and pretty much insinuating that I wasn't worthy of shopping at her "high end store" where "all the purses we offer are much higher than your price point". (To be fair, I've browsed the purses at NM before and have found the SA at the YSL counter to be extremely helpful, patient, gracious, and accommodating.) I ended up in the Cusp section upstairs, determined to spend my gift card. I met Larita there, who is the sole reason I will continue to shop at NM. She was so kind and helpful, and she gave me great suggestions as well. She never once rushed me or made me feel unwelcome. I walked out of the store 2 hours later (which is a lot for me), but happy and pleased with my new Theory pants! If you do have to come here, either head straight to the men's, "high end" purses, or Cusp sections. Everyone else I've tried to talk to is too cool for school, but the SAs in these sections will help you out. read more

I have been looking for the MFK gentle fluidity for a while now. When I checked online the NM website indicated that this location has none. I called to see if they will be receiving anymore and the sales rep I spoke to stated he has one more available, I found that weird since usually when it says out of stock online it means out of stock. I asked him to place it on hold excited that I found it. I went in and purchased it, first I was disappointed to see how much this store has changed. Not well taken care of, no greeting, and employees seem more interesting in chit chatting than helping. I've felt judged from the moment I walked in as if I don't fit the image of a client they can make a sale off of. I went ahead and made my purchase. When I got home excited to get my perfume, I noticed the packaging looked a little like it's been sitting on the shelf for a minute. In addition, the color of the perfume was completely different then what was online. When I went in to the store 2 days later explaining the situation, I was dismissed immediately and told we don't return open fragrance. I tried to explain the situation and again dismissed without even an apology. I went online to read the return policy and even read the receipt, no where does it state you can't return open fragrance. The whole way the interaction played out including the first visit, I felt so degraded and belittled. That is not an experience any patron should receive. read more

He loves to get designer outfits on special occasions or as a reward for good grades ect., as he likes to match me and wear what I wear. my boyfriend and I walked in to the kids department and we were immediately greeted with a smile by your sales associate by the name of Claudia. we told her what we were looking for and she was such a fantastic sales associate. She even gave her honest opinion about some of the options telling us what she thought looked better, pulling things from the back not even on the floor, making sure we seen everything and gave us all the options she had available in the sizes we needed. Never was pushy or felt like she was just trying to sell us. Very genuine service. Claudia you're awesome. Even when it came time to pay and we were having difficulties using the Klarna payment options she was more than willing to help. Oh Neimans...... I have a love-hate relationship with this store. Pros: -Decent selection for such a small store -Probably one of the only places in MI you can buy Hermès scarves (my mother loves them) -It's generally quiet and not a ton of people. -They validate Valet parking with any purchase, and it's accepted at all 7 valet locations within the mall. Cons: -The employees will look at you like you're a beggar off the street if you're not dressed correctly. -Some of the salespeople are stuck in the late 80s style-wise. -Salespeople are extremely pushy and sales-driven. (Except for Barbara in Handbags, she is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. And her knowledge on the products is second-to-none.) -The store is showing its age, it could really use a renovation. All in all, I enjoy walking through and browsing, but I will usually end up taking my business to Saks or elsewhere. read more

I love Neiman Marcus. My most recent experience was at the Troy store a week ago. I had purchased a Chanel handbag at the Neiman's in Chicago. To save sale tax I had it shipped. Once it arrived I decided it was all wrong for me. Living in Ohio, the nearest Neiman's is in Troy. I called and they said there would not be a problem to return it for a refund so I made the 4 hour trip and was pleasantly surprised at the size of the store. Many Neiman's are small. I spent over an hour at the Chanel boutique looking for a replacement the was more suited to my style. I really don't want to get into why I bought the other one. It was just one of those buyers' remorse things because I made a decision too quickly. Anyway, Jennifer, the sales person was amazing. She dug out about dozen different bags and encouraged me to take my time and said on at least two occasions that a full refund was an option because she wanted me to be completely happy. My issue is that I have wanted a Chanel bag for years and was determined not to walk away without one. I narrowed it down to two and made the final decision. It resulted in a $1700 savings over the original one I bought in Chicago. I am completely satisfied with my choice and will not hesitate to make the 4 hour trip again for my second Chanel bag. read more

Bruce in men's clothing is the man, that's all I can say. He is the reason I am giving this place 5 stars. Most other employees are very vapid and don't hide that they are basically head hunters. Bruce gets 5 stars because he allows you to see his personality. I feel like most sales associates go into robot mode when they clock in and only worry about their commission. They REALLY need to remember that they are just regular people. Act friendly and don't make it obvious you just want a sale. I was in the Neiman Marcus store at Somerset Mall in Troy, MI and I left in tears. I entered the store, my first time, as I generally shop online. I was barely greeted and as I looked at the purses, none of the sales ladies seemed to want to serve me. Even as I roamed around the area looking for the perfect crossbody bag no one inquired about providing me any help. I moved to other areas of the store hoping this was an isolated incident, however, I found myself being virtually ignored but also being watched. I went to all three levels of the store and I have never felt so discriminated against in my whole life. I can afford to be in Neiman Marcus and shop the store with money or credit. I was taking advantage of an offer to get a crossbody bag that I need for vacation and the extra InCircle points. I feel at a complete loss and don't know if I should keep Neiman Marcus as one of my favorite stores any more. It saddens me as I just spent over $800 just last week online with you guys. It felt awful to have sales people who generally work on commission miss an opportunity to provide me with good customer service. Was it my purple braided hair? Or yellow sundress? Or some other nefarious reason why the sales people in this store barely gave me a second glance? Just so we are clear, none of those are legitimate reasons to ignore a potential customer. This missed opportunity will ensure I think long and hard about shopping at Neiman Marcus in the future!
