In some ways it's better than a dollar general or Family Dollar, in other ways, it's not. You'll see for yourself when you come in, but they have a lot of stuff which other stores don't have and it's well worth your time. We always come here when we go to the restaurant next door which is one of the best Mexican restaurants and Monterey style restaurants in the whole world - so make sure you read my review of that place before you eat there so you know what to get.

Every now and then I find a cute top or fun jeans, but it's rare. One suggestion at the checkout: please stop over selling the TJ Maxx credit card. The first girl gave her spiel and I politely declined, but then the other girl helping the first girl went into the spiel too. Sometimes it's too much and it personally makes me uncomfortable having to say no; especially multiple times. I worked retail when I was younger, so I know they probably have a quota to get to keep their progress up, but please don't repeat it. Maybe the second girl didn't hear the first girl. I stopped by the store the next day with my receipt and the sneakers, explaining that I called the day before and was told to bring the shoes in. The store manager refused the return and said it's not the store's job to manage defects. After leaving the store, I called the Rack customer service number, who absolutely said the store should've taken the return and given me a refund. Do not go to this Rack...it's messy and disorganized, anyway. The other locations in town are way better.

When I approached the security guard to give him my receipt, he swiped it and walked off. No direction was given. I then proceeded to walk out toward the exit and asked if I needed to remove the rope to get out. He merely looked and stated, that's blocked. I told him that he should probably direct customers to the entry door vs just walking away.He didn't even help to put my basket back with all the bags I had. But they do have a lot of variety of Asian food and more, which makes it an easy one stop shop to plan out your week/month for all the different cuisines you can eat. I also personally wished they kept the ready to easy lunch boxes and such either under a heat lamp or in the fridge, but maybe I'm just paranoid (NYC is super strict and even have their own food handler licensing agency compared to Houston). But I do love knowing I can grab a quick lunch or dinner from here (go past the produce area to the back right corner). Cashiers have generally been pretty friendly too and not to jinx myself, but even when it's busy, the vibe here hasn't felt terrible or super chaotic.

Second, a shoe store with 4 self checkouts and one person (or so it seems) working the register, not a good idea. With all the discounts and coupons and things..what could go wrong? I waited for what felt like forever while my self checkout register is "yelling" at me that a customer service person is on the way. I chose self checkout only because I felt like I was forced into it due to the long line of the one guy working register but all those people were smart and stayed with a person to check them out! Meanwhile my self checkout is yelling at me repeatedly, the guy never stops for a second to assist, never calls for an additional cashier, and finally some girl with nails she couldn't use on the touchscreen comes over and unsuccessfully assists and calls over someone else..so two other people in store ignoring line/unable to assist/never called by the guy working a line that is now 10 people deep. Additionally, they have a TON of clearance shoes, but with the crappy redesign, only about a third of them are visible at a time because the rest are indiscriminately stacked above behind pull down screens that you can see behind but can't access so they will NEVER sell all the clearance shoes and you are only seeing a few at a time. I truly hate this store and yesterday was just the best of all conditions in clear view..looks like I'll be driving further for a real dsw experience. The person who redesigned should be fired..or maybe they were because other stores remain the same.

If I am looking for home decor or clear storage items (which you know I live these!!) this is my first stop. You can get great storage containers here and save quite a bit of money. (Love that!)
