Today I decided to check this place out since I had some extra time. Iris Gifts is very much a boutique store. I was immediately greeted with a smile. I told the store associate I was just looking and we left it at that. I love not being bothered, so I am completely fine after the initial greeting/offer of help until I ask for help later. They have all the cute and festive items for the seasons, adorable clothes for children, fun jewelry, amazing candles and more! I enjoy browsing stores like this when I have some free time to get ideas for later when birthdays and/or special occasions arise. In this area of town, you will find several boutique shops, but this one is very convenient and there is plenty of parking available. Some of my favorite items are the El Arroyo collection, the fun cocktail napkins and the decorative styrofoam cups. On the higher end, they sell beautiful, lovely smelling candles (one brand in particular is $115.00 - I don't know anything about the brand, so I can't give feedback on the price - maybe it lights itself - Lol), pretty costume jewelry, home decor pieces and alluring bath items that function as both decorative and useful. I was surprised to see the reviews are not higher for this shop. It's cute, it's friendly and it is full! What's not to love?!

I recently visited one of their locations in Santa Monica after they closed their marvelous Beverly Hills location. There are two Santa Monica locations. I visited the smaller one. However, they had what I needed and the service was great. For a broader selection visit the larger of the Santa Monica stores. The wrapping papers while exquisite were pricey. Still if you have a pricey gift that is not too large, this is the place to find wrapping paper and ribbon. I like the wire rimmed ribbons, b/c I am not too handy at wrapping gifts and detailing them with ribbon. The wire rimmed makes it easier. I used to buy the wire rimmed ribbon at stores like the Container store in their after Xmas sales. You can buy solid red paper, a Xmas color, and use it all year for birthdays, children's gifts etc.

This gift shop is where I go when I want to buy a treat for myself! They have purses, ornaments, Pandora, Lampe Berger, but that is not typically what I am buying for myself. I'm typically buying the Voluspa or other heavily scented candles or some of the french milled soap (and no, it's not cheap). And listen up guys - your ladies would like these candles probably with some of the scented bath salts they sell! So next time you are making a run for HEB or into Spec's, then give this place a shot if you have a birthday or anniversary approaching! You'll love your new goodies!

I found this to be very interesting since reviews claim otherwise. I though both ladies were exceptionally friendly. I originally went in to look for a 'Scout' brand bag. Aside from my initial reason for choosing this shop, I was delighted to find other treasures. Astros items, fun sparkly slip-on shoes, 'El Arroyo' (Austin, TX restaurant - see photo) brand items, trinkets, wall plaques, serving platters, greeting cards and more. I was in a hurry and had to return to work, so I didn't get the time to browse as much as I wanted. I will definitely go back to see what other finds they may have in store - pun intended! ;)
