I mainly dislike Dillards because of their unreasonable return policy (30 days) & high prices, unless there is a sale. I tried returning an unworn, all tags on Junior dress within 45 days. nope couldn't do it. I had originally brought it to the wrong department where the sales people were much nicer & were going to try & work it out for me. Realizing it was Juniirs they sent me there. The shirt still smelled like the store and they refused to accept it, refused to exchange it or even give me store credit. They blamed me for the issue. I visited Dillard's Galleria location on Saturday, August 8th to exchange a pair of sandals for a different color. The shoes were never worn I bought them two weeks prior. I arrived just as the store opened. It was my worse experience at Dillards. I had my receipt with me as proof of purchase. I was immediately notified that if I purchased them two weeks ago they were additionally marked down to 65% and if they did not have the color I wanted they would not give me a price adjustment and if I returned them I could not repurchase them again. I was so disappointed in the way I was treated that I wished I had asked for the jerks name. He was standing at the register helping a woman who seemed to be new because she did not know anything about their policy. I will not step foot in that store ever again. Not to be confused with Picklesofts, but if your Dill is too hard, you might hurt your teeth on it - you've been warned. Not sure what the big Dill is with department stores, but Barbie likes them. So I guess you could say that's her department. It's located at the Memorial City Mall, and it's not one of Barbies favourites as far as DS go (department stores, silly). It gets a little busier than a lot of these stores do these days, but it's quite popular and pretty extensive in terms of selection. That salt and pepper on the men was worth attending the faction show. They also had young ladies styling beautiful clothes. I saw a couple I know I'll get. Simple Beautiful! I used to love Dillards. I have not been in about 5 years and was so disappointed when I went. It was a horrible shopping experience. I went for a purse and sunglasses. Everything was locked up. How can you try on sunglasses when you cannot look in the mirror. No one was there to unlock any of them - So I moved on to purses. Same thing. I was in Dillard mens shoe section this afternoon didn't buy anything today but I guarantee I'll never buy shoe's from Dillards again. While in the department there was a man trying on multiple shoes, he was sitting close to me. He had the nastiest looking feet I've ever seen, and I've been in a lot of locker rooms over the years with some guys with nasty looking feet. Unfortunately the sales representative kept bringing multiple pairs of shoes but never a sock to use while trying on the shoes. That's right this guy was allowed to put his nasty bare feet in multiple pairs of shoes That are now back in stock waiting for the next unsuspecting customer to come catch who knows what. read more

She explained what I needed for skin care, and she answered all my questions in a professional manner. She was kind, patience, and knowledgeable. I was very impressed by her presentation. Hmmm not sure what to say or where to start. Upon entering the shoe salesperson just stared at my husband and me. We stared back for a couple seconds then kept walking... All the dressing rooms were locked. Men's, multiple women's, we checked. I will add... This was during the evening but no where near closing time. Kinda odd! And no worker asking if we needed a fitting room. I did find a Petite section but the clothes weren't cute once I finally found a dressing room from an uninterested employee who was on her phone. I probably would too as the store was dead. Prices are all over the place. I prefer to shop at Dillard's Greenspoint the clearance center because it's the dumping grounds for all the Dillard's around and has amazing deals. I think I'll use my gift card there. read more

I am surprised by some of the negative reviews, I found the Memorial City Dillard's to be pretty well organized, and they had quite a lot of nice clothing at good sales prices. I do miss the Greenspoint Clearance Center, my old go-to "deals" store, which they closed. read more

I bought many perfumes at Dillard's and Macy's on the same day, including the same perfumes. I went to return to Dillard's a perfume set within the 30 day return policy. The "manager" was very, very rude, and said that they can't be returned because the 2 bottles were not full all the way to the top (I had not even sprayed any from either bottle). I asked to speak to her manager, and he had a bad attitude. It seemed like he hated his job and had better things to do on a Sunday. He also repeated what the other employee said and stated that the perfume bottles were not all the way to the top (I had not sprayed either bottle). As the situation got worse, I saw that the return label on the box was for Macy's and I asked them to give me back my perfumes (I made an honest mistake). They proceeded to tell me that they were not going to give the Dillard's plastic bag that I walked in with, even though it was mine, I had gotten it from a previous purchase. I don't understand the logic behind their reasoning, to me it seems ridiculous. The employees attitude was horrible, they even high 5 as I was leaving. None of the 3 employees did their job and check the return label, instead they were rude and told me that the perfumes could not be returned. Needless to say, I returned the perfumes to Macy's and was greeted with great customer service and it was a smooth transaction. Macy's will be my go to store from now on. read more

I came to return the defective watch on Jan 3, 2018 at 8:15pm and I was helped by a lady name N (I dont really how to spell her name). The lady was really really rude. She threw my watch and the receipt on the table and mumbling "oh my god. I am sick of it. I have deal with this shit all day". Then, she turned to me and said "You can't return it here. You have to go to the store that you bought it from" My husband: "where it was written on the receipt said I can't return here" Dillard lady: "you have to know it. But you should have looked at the watch before you bought it. Why didn't you look at it before you buy it" After arguing for a white, she finally gave us a refund (Receipt #0774075001501032016). However, the way she talk to us like we owed her money. I have been shopping at Dillards for over 10 years and this is the first time that someone treated me that way. Long story short, the employees are unsure of their price match policy. The manager told me they price match depending on who you ask (excuse me? are we tiptoeing on a discrimination lawsuit here or what?), and when I brought it to her attention that I was confused on the policy because I had two different explanations, I was told at least ten times "the employee is right!" -- in a very condescending manner. As a matter of fact, a bystander and potential customer apologized to me for the managers attitude. That's embarrassing - for Dillard's. I don't even want to walk into a Dillard's again. I hadn't shopped here in some time and I suppose this is why. I'll save my money for department stores that have human courtesy like Nordstrom and Macy's. I have put in a complaint to the corporate manger but witnessing how the store manger speaks to customers, I'm uncertain that anything will change. I don't know what it is about the department stores in MC Mall, but they just don't do much for me. This really is disappointing, because I love all the other stores, but Dillard's falls into the same category for me as Macy's - love the store and the items they carry, absolutely hate the poor/non-existent service. I usually experience this lack of service at the cosmetic and jewelry counters. You know, the only places where you can't just grab all the shit you want and take it to customer service to check out?! And all the times I have been looking for help, it's not like they are busy. I often have clerks look right at me and either take their sweet time finishing something non-customer related or they will straight up ignore me. It really doesn't take me much to be pleased with customer service. I always know what I'm looking for when I'm shopping. I consider myself very strategic. There is a woman who works in intimate apparels, she has "helped" me twice -- last weekend and tonight. She came promptly and asked if I needed help on the first visit, but apparently she didn't really want to be bothered. Maybe that initial greeting is what the store requires, because her whole demeanor changed when I started asking questions about two specific items. It was a special purchase for a special occasion, so nuisances to consider. I didn't bombard her (just a few questions about two lines) and I certainly wasn't rude. She was rather short and even sighed heavily when I pointed out that there was some existing stain on the nearly $200 item I was purchasing. I said aloud that I would see if it was available at another location, then I turned back and asked if she could check others. I thought that would certainly be faster. You would have sworn I asked for something so offensive, because she continued with the "I'm annoyed" sighing and hesitated just to lookup the item in the system. Tonight, I walked in near closing time apparently -- I wasn't aware of that. She seemed to be reluctant to come over when I entered the area, then proceeded to rudely tell me how one of the items I purchased wasn't exchangeable although it was not noted anywhere on the receipt and the item had the dillards return item sticker on it. She picked up a few boxes as if she was going to try to help me find my size, and then abruptly said "we're closed anyway." She gave me back my box and turned away. A few minutes after that, the store made their closing announcement -- and asked shoppers to go to the nearest checkout or register. I guess the store was already closed to this sales lady, at least her area was and she had no intention of helping me with a purchase or even directing me to an open checkout if she was already shut down. I didn't get her name, and although I hate certain descriptors I can only describe her as an African-American woman. She was on the clock tonight Feb 5th, but she had no time for me, and I'm guessing she doesn't enjoy being in a customer service type of role. I really just don't appreciate anyone being rude to me, especially in an establishment where I'm paying my money. The killing part is I witnessed another lady be very rude to a customer and not be attentive to customers in the shoe dept, not to me directly but she also never acknowledged that I was even looking around. Don't buy furniture at Dillard's the quality is horrible, their customer service is terrible. I purchase a leather sofa, love seat and chair after one week they look like they were 10 years old, they didn't have any padding the advertise them as protected leather and they were the opposite. I let them know and guess what the manager Debra at Memorial City didn't care. We return them and they still charge us 15% restocking fee. Customer satisfaction doesn't mean anything. I went to the customer service desk to ask a question. Upon entering there were no customers in line but the customer service representatives were assisting two other people that I assumed were employees according to their interactions and what they were doing. I patiently waited 10-15 minutes and two other employees showed up. One employee got in line behind me and the other went around and stood behind the desk but offered no service. A young man that was helping an employee finished helping the employee but he looked around me, pointed at the employee behind me and motioned for her to come and be helped. I was stunned. I stood there a few minutes trying to rationalize why I was over looked and then realized there was no rationalization. I went to the young man while he and the lady was talking and laughing and asked him why did he over look me? He had no response, no apology absolutely nothing. He never looked up at me. I asked his name he said nothing to me. There was a man in a suit at the counter "who probably was the manager" stepped back to listen but said nothing. One thing I usually avoid here (that is) are the makeup counter employees (No offense to my makeup counter girls working elsewhere). They're all either too busy pretending to work or picking their next victims to hand out flyers to and do cake-up on... I came prancing in the other day and one employee who was huddled with a group of girls greeted me, "Hello how are you-I'm fine...". She said it so fast and before I could even respond, she answered her own question -"I'm fine." assuming I had asked her the same thing! It's nice to know some employees really pay attention to customers UGH lame yo! So my main reason for coming here was to find a plain white men's undershirt. I wanted to avoid walking over to Macy's or Target so I came here. Man, did I waste my time or what!?! It turns out, they don't have a wide selection of brands here nor do they sell men's undershirts individually! Only in packages of three or so for an arm and leg! I did happen to find a few white shirts in their sale rounders, however they were not the greatest quality and not the sizes I was looking for! After circling the Men's department twice and seeing nada, I left this store right quick and jetted over to Macy's where I was in and out in a jiffy! I found a nice white men's undershirt at Macy's for $7 holla! The only thing I like about this Dillard's is the fact that it's in a convenient location of the mall. This is about Dillard's furniture in particular. Their staff was very friendly (Ronnie was awesome), their selection was great and well-priced. Delivery crew was great also, but there ends the pleasant experience. Once we noticed some flaws in the furniture, we should have just had them replaced immediately. Dillard's contracts out furniture "service" to another company, and that company is just plain horrible. Rude, inconsiderate, and just not very friendly! One lady called me a liar on the phone! We scheduled service for Thursday, August 2nd, to repair some scratches. The tech gave us a 3-hour window, 3 to 6. I made sure to tell the driver to give me a 30 minute heads up phone call, as I would be coming from work. Well, I got a call at 2:50, telling me the tech would be there in 20 minutes. Well, I raced home as fast as possible, but knew I would not make it in 20 minutes, so I called and told them it might be more like 25-30 minutes. I arrived home a little before 3:20, and waited. And waited, and waited. Nothing, until almost 4pm when I decided to call. I was told the service tech arrived at 3:03, and could not wait past 3:10 so he left! Nobody bothered to tell me this, however, so I wasted an entire afternoon. When I called to inform the service company of this, the first person I spoke to was extremely rude, and basically called me a liar when I told her I requested a 30-minute heads up. In the system it said 20-minutes, which could have been an honest mistake, but instead she chose to question my integrity. Not only that, but it was not a 20-minute heads up, it was a 13-minute heads up as the tech arrived at 3:03. I tried being reasonable with her, but she was either in a bad mood, or just a rude person, so I asked to speak with the manager. The manager was much more understanding, and rescheduled my appointment for the following Friday, and told me I would be the first visit at 8am to work with my schedule. Well, I got a call from the service tech Thursday, telling me they were coming between 2 and 5pm, so I was forced to reschedule, AGAIN. Never dealing with their service company again. Buyer beware! Just send it back, they will replace it happily if you're not 100% satisfied. read more

I was looking for a simple black dress to wear to Vegas for a night out and found absolutely nothing on the first floor in the juniors section. I headed upstairs and it was looking bleak. There were some dresses but I'm not spending $300 on a dress. Finally, I found a Jessica Simpson dress and even though it was more than I wanted to spend it was just what I was looking for. I personally love wearing Lauren by Ralph Lauren clothing and they always have an awesome selection of clearance items. Roshmi (Red dot on his forehead), who works in the Shoe Department, was purposefully unhelpful. I told him that I had an item on hold and provided him my name. He looked uncaring, while leaning against the side of the counter, and sounded annoyed. He said that he does not know who (Insert my name) was. I said that was my name, but I did not remember the name of the lady who helped put the shoes on hold for me. He then said that they do not have any orders on hold. I told him that it was not an order yet, and that I was having them hold it so that I could try it on first. He then said again that he does not know who (Insert my name) is. We literally went back and forth with me reiterating 3-4 times the same thing. Eventually, he asked another lady if they had anything on hold, and she said that she would check in the back, while he still stood there not helping. She and another lady had the shoes on hold and checked on me to make sure that they fit. Kudos to the ladies for coordinating and providing excellent customer service read more

Don't know why the store has such a poor rating. I pretty much rely on their Men's department for everything. As far as I'm concerned this store has the best shoes in Houston, bar none. The men's clothes are fashionable and the selection is very European. Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, and some Italian designers, all well selected. Prices are a bit steep, but on par with Macy's which in comparison is a mess. I had manufacturing defect on high end shirt out of return time slot, the men's supervisor personally communicated with the manufacturer (Bugatchi) to get it exchanged. The ladies dept. upstairs could use some frendlier personnel and the suit guys are ultra snooty and pushy, the men's changing rooms are also super dusty and can use renovation, so I'm taking a point for that. Ladies' shoes, fragrances and bags are simply the best. The hidden gems are the furniture and home sections upstairs. Best travel dept. as well - great selection of quality suitcases. read more

After my previous low review, David, a manager at the store contacted me, was very nice, acknowledged that the designation of sales items can be confusing to customers, and offered to honor the sales price on the shirt I wanted. When I arrived, David wasn't able to come out as he was conducting an interview, but instructed the saleslady to give me over the phone (I gathered he had already given her a heads-up), and she didn't just give me the 50% discount that had been going on during my previous trip, she gave me the 65% discount they were now offering on select shirts. They didn't HAVE to give me anything, so I thought this was a very generous goodwill gesture, and I also purchased a necktie I saw and liked. For handling the situation well and turning a dissatisfied customer into a satisfied one, they definitely deserve an improved ranking. read more

I left feeling profiled and clearly mistreated by the "customer service reps" on the women's coat department while trying to do a simple exchange.My husband got me three items for my birthday. Each gift came with a special message...Loved every bit of it but the Anne Klein coat he got me was too snug-I got to the store and after going through several associates I finally found the the womens winter coats.The lady there seemed to be very impatient- I explained I needed a Small and not Petite Small.She looked in the system and told me it was unavailable. She showed me a similar coat by the same designer but I didnt like the color.She told me another location had one in black.I asked if they could transfer she said no.Thats fine-I wasnt planning to drive anywhere else for a coat.I opted to look around for one I might like...and sure did find a Calvin klein size 6 that fit me well . Off I went to the "customer service" desk to exchange.When I got there a different lady had came up to assist me.I made sure the coat fit me and even had her assistance. I had the receipt,my husband used his debit card so clearly I didnt buy it since it was a gift. I told the new lady I wanted to exhange.She told me she didnt know how to use the system so she called the person who was there previously-telling me the lady can do the exchange. When it came to the exchange she noted the new coat was $20 cheaper than the old one.I told her she could send the remainder to my card.She told me she cant do it...she said she could only do a return and I would have to purchase the coat separately. At this point I told her this was a gift-obviously I have a receipt.How is it so difficult to exchange something that my husband( 13 days ago)was told if it doesn't fit your wife to come back and exchange. At this point I had my husband on the phone.While another associate /manager came up to resolve the issue. I explained to her I found new coat to exchange and Im returning the other bc it doesnt fit and there isnt any thats my size in that style for an even exchange that I would've loved. She took my receipt-did something on the workstation and printed another receipt.Told me to follow her-while she left the coat I wanted and old receipt on the counter.The second associate that was helping me told her she was leaving the coat I picked-at this point the woman yelled arrogantly "she will come back and buy it!" After a good walk over to the "real" customer service desk,they asked for my bank card. Going great-so I thought! The woman who walked me over switched her attitude trying to be nicer-she complemented my Tanzanite wedding ring-I told her thanks,she then made a comment "shouldn't a wedding ring be a smooth round band?".(at this point Im thinking-I could have married my husband even without a ring!)She went on to ask if I spoke another language-I told her I do.She asked what language-I said Swahili.(..among 2 others)I asked her if she spoke another language-she said Yoruba.Great....Next question:She asked me where I work....OMG!am I being interrogated now? About then I was handed a paper telling me $140 was refunded on my card.I told her thats not what I wanted.It should only be about $20 refund. She was like yeah,you can go buy the coat now.I told her I wanted an exchange not a full refund . She then went on to tell me that she could hold the coat for the money to clear my account.Assuming that I couldnt purchase the coat then. That if she used the gift card she made to purchase coat then I wasnt going to be able to return it for cash back in the future.I told her I dont buy stuff just to return them-but since she made that kind of assumption about me and I have a refund then I would rather get the coat somewhere else. I have since lived up to their assumption and returned every single item bought at Dillards within the last 30 days.I will not be shopping at a place that treats people based on how they look or sound...After a long work day,the last thing I wanted was to be treated like I stole the coat. read more
