On March 8, 2026, I visited Cavender's looking for a last-minute dinner outfit. I understand that Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo brings a lot of extra traffic to stores during this time, but that doesn't mean customer service should suffer. Unfortunately, my experience was not the best. The store was very messy, with clothes on the floor and items misplaced throughout the racks, which made it difficult to find what I was looking for. After about 15-20 minutes of searching, I finally found a cute denim outfit and went to an employee named Melanie to see if they had my size. As Melanie began helping me, the store phone started ringing. At that moment, a manager named Emily walked up to Melanie and told her to answer the phone, even though she was in the middle of assisting me. After Melanie picked it up, Emily then began reprimanding her for answering the call. The interaction was uncomfortable to witness, especially since it happened right in front of customers. Once the situation passed, Melanie continued helping me and mentioned that there was one more outfit in my size somewhere in the store. When I asked where it might be located, she wasn't sure due to how mixed up the racks were and returned to her other tasks. I made another lap around the store trying to find it but eventually gave up. Overall, the disorganization and uncomfortable interaction between staff made the experience frustrating. I went there last minute on the RODEOHOUSTON last week and there wasn't that big of selection as they usually have but I still managed to find my dream boots! The employees there helps me a lot to find what I'm looking for and in the correct size. I normally don't go to Cavender's for clothes or boots. I live in Texas but I don't wear western clothes or boots. I know you are probably shocked by this. W H A T kind of Texan are yo The only reason I went was to look for some boots for my daughter who needed some for a work function. They only had 4 pairs in her size. They did have a large selection for the other sizes just not in an 11 in women's. But that is very normal. (It's ruff being tall and skinny --that's something I would not know anything about!) They had a ton of clothes that were not "western wear," cute dresses, tank tops, colored jeans and more. If I ever need anything regarding boots etc. I will check here first. read more

I love this store every time all the sales associates are very helpful but this last time I went I I was doing an exchange. We had to wait on the manager for 15 mins When she got to us she didn't say a word to us but started scanning everything. We were like um are we done ? Went in to get some new clothes for the rodeo and always loved shopping here. Came in and started looking around found a couple of shirts and decided I wanted a new hat. Went to look at the hats and had a hard time finding my size. I went to ask the older lady running the hat section for help. Unfortunately, she seemed so uninterested in wanting to help me find my size. It's not like I was looking at cheap hats either the hat I was wanting in my size was about $350.00. She seemed so disinterested in helping me and pawned me off to another employee who was a younger kid and she told him yeah this guy is looking for this hat, this color and this size go help him. The kid rolled his eyes and walked away and didn't even look at the hats to see he came back not even 10 Seconds later saying nope we don't have anything like that. Then I overheard him say to the older lady whelp I'm gone I've been here long enough today. I mean seriously! If it's your time to clock out then just find someone else to help the customers or stay a little over if it's not going to hurt anything. The customer service was just horrendous. We finally decided to just pay for my shirts and leave. We make it to the register and the girl asks did anyone help you today and we stated nope and another gentleman overheard us state this and he asked, "no one asked you if you needed help"? We stated nope we had to ask for help with the hats but they didn't help at all they just acted as if they would have rather been anywhere else. The gentleman just looked at us weird after that with no I'm sorry that happened or anything. To top everything off one of the shirts that we were purchasing didn't have a tag and the cashier states where did you get the shirt it doesn't have a tag? We told her and she just stood there and looked at us. She was waiting for us to go get another shirt with a tag on it. I mean WOW that's great customer service. So we had to go and get another shirt so she could ring it up and need mind the shirt was literally right by the register. After she rang the shirt up and we paid we were asked to put the shirt back up on the way out. Really!? We are not employees and she could have literally just put the shirt back up but no she was too busy playing around on her phone and laughing and cutting up with her other coworkers. I'm highly disappointed how we were treated today. I have never had this bad of an experience at Cavenders before but I can assure you I will not go back to this location for the simple fact of the customer service that we did not receive. This is directed towards one of their general managers. I received 2 shirts as gifts for my son and they didn't fit him. I went in hoping for a store credit since they were brand new with tags. I approached the manager kindly asking to see what could be done since they were gifts and didn't fit and the short, Caucasian lady with glasses goes "nope! This location is larger than the one on 290, has more clothing and accessory options for the ladies, and boots, too. Do your best to get your Rodeo shopping well before the season begins. I've always received good customer service from Cavender's on I10 by Dairy Ashford. For over 20 years I've been getting my Rodeo wear. But today I got top notch service from Kyle, a manager there. As usual, this year's Rodeo found me lacking in western wear. I visited Cavender's and they found an increased variety of western wear. My husband found some great deals on jeans which is almost unheard of at Rodeo time. We had to order one of the sale items and as it always seems to happen, we lost our receipt. One and a half months later, Kyle diligently spent time trying to find our receipt. He was successful and I'm thoroughly impressed with his helpfulness and understanding. I'll not shop here again: - The staff is very unhelpful...that is unless you are dressed up in your Cowboy costume...otherwise, they treat you with disdain. I wish I could "qualify" that statement, but for years it has been the same reception by the staff...who are obviously trained by management. Two examples: - Called ahead about getting my boots stretched, found out this was offered free by Canvenders. I went to store, let them know I was there to get my boots stretched and was bounced between three different sales people, who finally said the "free" stretching was "backed up" and could not be done for a week. I'd just called and knew there was availability...however, "an order" just came in and my boots could not be stretched....yeah right. - Brought in a pair of wranglers that I had bought at the store and wanted to purchase two more, two sales people were "new" and could not find the pants (we looked together)...even thought they asked other sales people. I asked the cashier as I was checking out with other purchases if they had these pants in stock ( I supplied the tag info)... The caring customer service response..."what we have if on the floor...and we won't do any special orders until after Rodeo" Seriously...wow. I've been putting up with this attitude from this store and their management for years...no more. I got online and bought two pair of the Silver Edition Below the Waist 933 wranglers in five minutes. Never going back to this tainted store again. I don't have a cowboy costume...so I imagine the "service" will remain the same. This guy right out lied and said he'd helped find the jeans, when in fact it was Alicia who had told me the difference between the styles for men, found a few for my husband to try, and i found the jeans we chose myself. Great selection here! They have a huge woman's boot selection as well as an entire nook filled with jeans! All the rhinestone rodeo jeans you'll ever need are here and there are plenty of sizes available. The Old Gringo and Corral boots are set up so that someone has to bring your your size. A bit of a hassle but the staff is friendly so it wasn't bad at all. I was able to find a new pair of brown boots and be on my way in less than 20 minutes. read more

Yippee kai yay! I have finally succumbed and bought myself a pair of cowboy boots. I went to the Rodeo last year looking out of place so with the pressure of fitting in at the Houston Rodeo and Livestock show and work's Rodeo day, cowboy boots were a must. Unfortunately, I went after work during their busiest time of the year. I had a hard time finding anyone to help me. The line was tremendously long-- wrapping around the huge store long. I was pleasantly happy with the selection and organization. I'm sure that under the circumstances, I had a decent shopping experience. This place is so busy during Rodeo season, but I got excellent customer service from the boot fitting department and a pair of nice western kicks to go. They were so many cowboys and cowgals that I had to choose my own cowboy hat without any assistance. You know it's rodeo time when people are stampeding into this place for all things cowboy related. I went here, like everyone else, on Go Texans Day eve. It was the first time I have ever stepped into a western store and I was kind of overwhelmed by everything and started reliving memories of when I had to learn how to square dance in elementary school. Anyways, I was trying to look for clothes that was more Deadwood and less Howdy Doody. I was disappointed that most of the shirts were more flashy than what I was going for. The salespeople were able to help me pick out a nice pair of boots. I also got a Stetson cowboy hat for two reasons 1. Ken wears one for his Alt Costume in Super Street Fighter 4 and 2. Doctor Who says that Stetsons are cool. I wasn't helped as well with getting the hat and had to go back the next day to exchange it for a smaller hat size. I got some red western cowboy shirt that looked more for partying rather than looking intimidating and a belt with several stars in a circle covering it. As I waited in line I also picked up a sweet looking western trenchcoat that was kinda like the one the Vash the Stampede wore in Trigun except in brown rather than red. Since the line was so long, the salesperson took my stuff to the front so I wouldn't have to carry my stuff in the really long line that snaked all the way to the entrance. At some point, the 5 hour energy people came by and gave us energy shots to keep us awake. Check out went okay considering the massive line. I ended up wearing what I bought for Go Texan Day despite being the only one at work with Texas Spirit. I also had lunch out to hopefully see others in the same excitment as me and was disappointed that so few were dressed in cowboy gear and people were looking at me funny. But at least I was able to make a couple cute girls smile as I walked by them and that was pretty cool. read more

Boot Scoot Boogie! This is my go to place for Rodeo wear, and pretty much anytime I need to buy my dad a present. I also like their online ordering system, easy peasy. Recently, my Yankee s/o needed a new pair of boots. We popped over to Cavender's for a look, and was immediately greeted by a nice woman who explained options, fit, look, prices, wear/tear, and difference in each we liked. We narrowed it down to a couple, but he ended up with a sweet dark wine colored Lucchese, handmade since 1883. It was love at first sight. I myself bought a pair of dark brown ones during rodeo season last year, which I will probably have for the rest of my life. They have a really good selection of both kids, mens and womens boots, jeans, and cute dresses. Personally the blingy Miss Me Jeans and blingy belts aren't my style, but people seem to really REALLY be scooping them up. They also have cute jewelry and lots and lots of cowboy hats. We don't, and that should be respected instead of being followed by a shadow. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! My brother and i just got back from a trip to TX. We brought his daughter to the rodeo to see the Jonas Brothers. Although we were raised in TX he is now in NY and I am from CA - so finding western clothing was a fun time. We went Sat night and the staff was beyond helpful. I bought a pair of wranglers, a pair of boots and my brother bought some jeans, a belt buckle and a belt. The next morning we went back there to get the rest of the outfit. Upon walking in the store - the guy came up to me and said - "where's your brother with my belt?" He had remember that my brother bought this really nice belt that he wanted for himself. Then he asked what we were looking for. I told him I needed a shirt and he said "with the boots you bought last night you should go with this color". That's great service. He remembered my previous purchase and tried to match it. He then got us some hats and molded them - and we were off to the rodeo! My family went to the store on 2/22/13. I went to get clothes and western wear for the rodeo and school events. The associate"Dennis" swooped on us while we were first entered the store and said," Let me know if you need anything" .We didn't see Dennis again until right before we checked out. I did ask him one question about a shirt discount before we bought it. I specifically asked him about a "Larry Mahan" shirt that was advertised as "1/2 off when you buy two". Dennis said "Yes". When I checked out the cashier said it was not a sale item even after I told him that Dennis just told us it was on sale. So the cashier calls over the older manager lady "Barbara Coe" who said, "No, that's not a sale item." and just kept walking without even stopping to acknowledge us even though we were standing right there with two kids purchasing well over $300 dollars worth of merchandise. Mrs. Coe didn't even bother to call over the Dennis to verify what he just told us. We didn't end up buying the shirts after that. I am standing there with two cranky kids and I am furious. Really? Moral of the story, check everything before you buy anything here even supposedly marked "sale" items, beware of aggressive sales people who work on commission and do not help you all plus give misleading information, and rude managerial staff. Finally, I did reach out to the manager ( Mr. Matthew Crowe) in writing to express my frustration and guess what? Mr. Crowe offered us a discount for the purchase of the two shirts. Mr. Crowe didn't even bother to read my complaint and offered us something that didn't even apply to our visit. read more
