I went here looking for a MOG dress. I was there probably 40 mins and I cannot believe I wasn't even greeted or spoken to. That rarely...wait, never happens to me in HTx. I was with the bride and ready to purchase. Definitely a Julia Roberts experience. In fact, I'm a HUGE Kelly Tooke fan & saw an adorable bag there that I actually wanted to purchase. But since no staff would even make eye contact, I purchased from KT's website. I'll never go there again nor will I ever recommend it. Treated horribly by manager Linn Preston. She profiled and disrespected me on so many levels. Whoever she is needs to be fired immediately for thinking she is better than anybody. Was HIRED to do a job by my salon and got talked too like I didn't belong. She even had the cop follow me around the store because she PROFILED me for my tattoos. Little does she know I'm the top earning stylist at the salon that was provided to do the service and have been to many upscale events and have never been disrespected the way this woman did. I refuse to ever support a store that thinks it's okay to treat others poorly. Maybe instead of thinking she's better than everybody she should take a look in the mirror and realize how absurd her behavior was. What makes it worse is she also racially profiled my Asian coworker referring to her as the nail lady and made absurd remarks towards her. To the point of telling her she didn't belong there and she wasn't invited. Very aggressive towards her making her feel so uncomfortable and unwanted. She needs an etiquette lesson on talking to people and should probably stop racially profiling and also stop profiling against those with tattoos. This store is fun! It's not cheap but the value is in the selection, assortment, styling, and environment/location. I got some cute outfits for a family outing and a few denim pieces. One or two things on sale, otherwise all full price but so on trend and/or great pieces. I'm not sure what's up with other people "waiting to be approached" to be helped and giving low stars -- that's odd. I wasn't approached and was very glad about it bc I don't like it. However, when I was ready I just asked and they were fun and helpful. The point is that everyone is different and if a stylist doesn't walk up and ask if you need help, speak up and tell them so they can provide their great service. cute spot, store was bigger than i thought. reserved parking spots. it reminded me of saks or upscale nordstrom. they not only have dresses, they have shoes bags all that. ive decided to go to this spot because i was impressed by fady's outfits during texas design week and had to check out what kind of clothes tootsies sell. customer service was exceptional and if i am remembering correctly the lady who helped me was Laura and she was excellent. i tried on couple of clothes and the fitting rooms were clean. ended up purchasing couple of different stuff here. one item i had to order since it wasn't in stock and it was delivered quickly. i think i would go back if i need more event clothing or anything cute. i liked how the staffs were not arrogant or snobby even tho i was wearing casual clothes. def be ready to spend some $ here but it's the quality and brand, and you already know that. read more

0 stars! Like some of the other negative comments, I had the same experience. After being in the store for 35 minutes I left empty-handed and upset because not one sales person offered to help. I had every intention of spending 10 to 15 K that day on multiple pieces for my new wardrobe, but because I was dressed casual and wasn't carrying one of my designer bags I guess they thought I was a waste of time. You should never judge a book by its cover!!!! Just for the record, it was not busy that day. There might've been eight or nine customers and about a dozen employees. Several even looked me straight in the eye!!! I would consider myself attractive, but regardless of what you look like or how much money you have, they should treat all the same. What a shit show!! I have been here before and the same thing happened. I wasn't planning on returning here, but wanted to give it a second chance. Big mistake! Huge! Never again. I'm a huge fan of Tootsies. I can always find a fabulous, unique piece there that I can't find in the typical Saks, Neiman's, Nordstom, etc. spots. Lots of reviewers seem to indicate service issues. I think the boutique concept of the store seems to cater to regular clientele. If you can find a good sales associate, that person will take really good care of you. They do a great job of keeping you updated about sales, events, specials. They have great sales. If you go to an event, you'll often get a gift card that you can use toward your purchase. I have been going to Tootsies since it was a small shop on Westheimer. My sister and I bought the same shoes on different colors. From that day, I was hooked. One time my cousin was going to a wedding in Hawaii, and she wanted a dress she had seen on Meg Ryan in a movie. Joanne spent days to find that dress! She is still at Tootsies. Who does that anymore, except at Tootsies. I have bought my daughter all the dresses she needed for special occasions. It is the best shop in Houston. This place is small enough that you won't be doing mileage getting around, but big enough that they stock everything that you'd want to look at, and nothing you don't! If I could I would give them a negative rating for the lack of customer service received doing my visit to the store today around 12:30pm. I walked around the store from shoes to dresses to sales items to designer salon and No One once asked to assist me. For the record there were several items I would have purchased but again No One asked to help me but I noticed other ladies were approached as they entered the store! This is not your typical luxury chain. It's fabulous beautique for most demanding taste. The staple of that store is manager FADY who runs the operation so good and it's a fashion icon himself, best dressed in town. A little warning though... please keep in mind they have strict return and exchange policy and "final sale" means just that... but it's fairly small beautique and they can't afford to loose like department stores do so please be understanding. Another thing that they do here is building relationships with clients. I've shopped with JANE since 1996! She's incredible! And very knowledgeable. Their customer service techniques do not engender loyalty to their business. I went in to spend $ for a trip and they had nothing that I liked in my size. So I placed an order for a dress and offered to pay. The sales rep said that I pay after the dress arrives. Ok. So I leave for my trip and get a call that the dress has arrived and I ask her to hold the dress until I return. She says she will try which is confusing when the dress was ordered specifically for me. Upon my return, I go to the store to purchase the dress when I am informed that the dress was sold. Tootsies is my go to store when I'm looking for a unique and specific outfit! When you live in Houston you have such a huge variety of stores you can go to like Nordstrom, Saks, and Neimann Marcus. There's an abundance of upscale stores where Tootsies is located. If you're a shopper and you plan on spending the day here at Tootsies, there's also an assortment of restaurants in West Avenue River Oaks shopping center. Customer service here is always a hit or miss. Most of them have this pretentious snob vibe when you enter so if I were you, I would enter looking like you belong in River Oaks. You shouldn't have to dress up to be acknowledged but if you're a high end shopper you already know the gist of all this. I on the other hand usually have decent customer service. I came here in a rush for an outfit and Sal picked me out and outfit and I left in less than 30 minutes! So great job Sal! read more

My friend and I went to Tootsies because we had received a $50 credit from an event we attended. The credit expired the next day, and we were delighted that they were having a sale. I found a pair of jeans and a top and my friend found a less expensive piece that would be less than $50 with the discount. I went to the cash register to pay for my items when they told me that I was unable to use the credit since the items were discounted. Since the only reason I went to the store was to use the credit, I told the sales person that I would not be purchasing the items. All of a sudden the sales person was able to obtain "special permission" to use the discount. My friend explained that she had the same situation. The sales person, Terri, threw her purchase on the checkout table and exclaimed that they were not going to make any money on this purchase and that she would not be doing this for us again. I understand that coupons can have restrictions. Especially when the coupon is for $50 which is a pretty sizable amount, but there was absolutely no reason for the staff to belittle us and make us feel like we were so insignificant. Our jaws fell open when the sales person had the audacity to throw my friend's purchase and say something about profit margins. That is just unprofessional. I believe the spirit of the coupon was just to get us into the store so that we could check it out and come back for more purchases. Tootsies wants to be a Houston-version of Bergdorf Goodman. It has lots of upscale labels, personal shopping, and a fairly nice interior design. Unfortunately it has some major issues. I have been less than impressed with the clothing selection particularly for dresses. I realize they cater to some older River Oaks clientele, but I haven't seen one dress there I was crazy about. They are either too old for me, a little boring, or have too many sequins. I realize there is a time and place for sequins but not for most of these dresses. ;) I have gotten bad attitudes from a couple of the staff there when shopping and checking out. Because I'm not a "regular customer," they act like they are doing me a favor by helping me. Tootsies could be an excellent store, and, considering I love helping local businesses, I would like to shop here more often. I have mixed feelings about Tootsies. I like the insane dress selection that is oh so well organized. I like the assortment of brands and over the top service. I like the beauty and sophistication this store exudes from every crevice.. That being said, as someone in their 20's, i feel the entire store is a bit matronly. I get that they are trying to appeal to that 40+ age bracket, but it's disappointing how few items there are for those of us in the 20-39 age range. I tried on many many dresses, but for the most part they all felt 45 year old PTA mom, not 20 something corporate business woman. I know I'm not their target customer, but the lack of apparel even remotely appropriate for business is disappointing. The staff is attentive but can come off as snotty and pretentious. I do like coming here for special occasion dresses and whatnot, but for high end apparel I find Neiman Marcus has slightly better merchandise for my needs. read more

Preface: Called ahead and asked Ginny to pull white dresses for me. Good: Avoid Galleria traffic/parking by coming to this location on Westheimer - easy to get to, easy to park. Huge selection - although not always the best selection Ginny is the salesperson to work with - she's fantastic. I love saleswomen who lay of the selling and talk to you like a girlfriend. Bad: The younger ladies in the front area (ie: not saleswomen) could use an attitude adjustment. Remember - there is NO entrance off of Westheimer! You'll end up walking in circles trying to find it! Fitting rooms are small and get crowded easily. Better selection would serve them well - give us more reason to choose them over Saks/Neimans/Etc. read more

I needed an evening dress for a gala and decided to give Tootsie's a try. I love the dress that I bought and didn't have any problems with the tailoring of it. There is a pretty good selection of evening dresses here. That being said, the customer service at this store is definitely hit or miss. I went to the store a few times before deciding which dress I wanted. Some of the ladies were friendly and helpful and others were lazy. The weird thing is that I never met or spoke to the person who I was supposedly the client of. Thinking back, I wish I asked one of the helpful ladies if I could be her client so she could get my sale. For my future dress shopping needs, I'd consider this store after I've gone to Saks, Neimans and other boutiques with beautiful dresses and staffs who have always been helpful. I like shopping to be a fun experience, and I don't want to have to deal with someone who thinks it's a chore to walk across the store for a dress. Tootsie's is lucky that its location is what is and that Highland Village was built up around it. Were it not for that fact, I think this historic boutique would've bit the dust quite some time ago. The reality is that Tootsie's shows its age. The carpet needs to be replaced, the layout is quite cumbersome, and the lighting is not the best. That being said, I suppose it does resemble a store like Bergdorf Goodman's in NYC better than any other in Houston, and it does stand out in that respect. I also find their fashion selection here a bit perplexing. It seems as though they cater to older ladies-who-lunch and the younger daughters of rich River Oaks families--and not much in between. Plus, you can find most of what they carry just down the road in one stop at The Galleria. Perhaps if you're a regular client of Tootsie's then you might enjoy the benefits of the unique customer service that occurs when a salesperson keeps tabs on your likes and dislikes, but otherwise I just don't think Tootsie's offers anything that much more special these days. Still, it is a Houston institution, and many other boutiques that have come up after it probably owe Tootsie's a debt of gratitude for the style it has brought to this city. read more

Their Alexander McQueen (my favorite designer) selection is light years better than Neiman Marcus' and you get the bonus of not having to deal with Galleria traffic and parking. The new store is beautiful and the location is wonderful. As with the old store, the staff is wonderful and are very attentive and helpful. I received the worst customer service here that I have experienced so far in my life. I did not find out until the end of my conversation that I was speaking to the manager -- even worse! I have visited this store a few times for special events, but will not return. There were some helpful people on the sales floor, but the person working check-out and the manager were very rude and unapproachable. If you want to have a pleasant experience, this is not the shopping destination to go to. I was made to feel incompetent and whiny for simply asking for something that I paid for during the Tidbits Fashion Brunch. I have been going to Tootsies for several years. It is usually my favorite place to shop. It is so elegant to be offered champagne, wine or a bottled water while you shop and try on clothes. The ladies were always so helpful and attentive. You could tell them your size and what you were looking for and the next thing you knew you had a dressing room full of exactly what you needed and a a few extras just for fun. I also really admired the fact that if something looked ugly they would tell you as opposed to convincing you that you looked, "Fabulous Dahling". Don't get me wrong...I am not a spoiled rich girl. Tootsies is my one indulgence once a year to buy a formal gown for a party that I attend each year and maybe one or two new dresses for the winter season. I so look forward to the experience each year. Last year was my first visit to the new location. I thought that the service was lacking compared to usual. No offer of a drink, no smiles, no one helping me to find the perfect fit or to be quite honest to find anything. Once I had found several things to try on by myself I felt that they were trying too hard to sell me anything as opposed to really trying to find something that was flattering. The lady that checked me out was so put out with the fact that I had interupted her day that I almost left without the merchandise. I waited it out...25 minutes to be exact. I decided that maybe it was a new staff and they were trying to get used to the new location. This past weekend I left the house with a spring in my step and was ready to find a knock out dress for my upcoming event. I'm sad to say that I will no longer visit the store. I was there a good 30 minutes with no offer to even find a dress, the few that I tried on were never even put on properly as there was no one to zip it up. The staff members that I did see in the store were chatting amongst themselves and had no intention of waiting on me in any manner. At first I thought that maybe I didn't appear to be rich enough for them, but I saw several other women that appeared very well to do and they too left the store with nothing. Unfortunately, I'll never return and will no longer send anyone there. Oh, and thank you to the lovely woman that helped me at Nordstroms. Other options - Georgio Armani or Valentino - both of which will order whatever I want - even if they have to go through all their books. And I do not pay unless I like it. For shoes - NM or Jimmy Choo. Again, with Jimmy Choo I can walk in and describe what I am looking for and they will pull out their massive book and FIND it for me. And order it. I usually find some stuff I like at Tootsie's. It's the service that gives me pause. Other than Jane (love her!) I have trouble finding someone nice to help - which I have to do when Jane is not there. But the worst is checking out - the incredibly rude check-out women! It's unacceptable. No smiles, no thank yous, no graciousness. Everytime I walk up to that counter I cringe.
