To Whom It May Concern, I've visited your Highland Village location five or six times previously, but unfortunately, my experience on Sunday, August 3rd, was extremely disappointing and left a lasting negative impression. I stopped in briefly while on my way to Sunday brunch with a friend. As I browsed the men's suit section, three employees passed by without acknowledging me or offering assistance. I continued toward the back of the store and found two shirts on sale. When I asked an employee nearby if a smaller size was available for one of them, he politely said he wasn't sure and directed me to a sales associate. When I approached her, she responded with clear disinterest. Discouraged, I placed the shirt back and moved on to the swimwear section, where I found a pair of green, blue, and cream shorts. I inquired about a larger size, and the associate--Carrie--stated she could place an order from another store. However, she returned shortly after, placed the shorts back on the rack, and attempted to convince me to purchase a completely different pair, stating, "You said you wanted blue, and these are green." While I had mentioned that much of my vacation wardrobe was blue, I still wanted the specific shorts I originally selected. During this exchange, another customer--a young man with several items in his arms--approached with multiple questions. Carrie immediately shifted her attention to him and began assisting him, even as I was still in the middle of my shopping process. Feeling dismissed, I completed my purchase with a different, more professional cashier. As I was checking out, Carrie returned and asked if I was still interested in the shorts and whether I had found everything I needed. At that point, I chose not to respond. Ironically, after returning home, I was able to locate and order the shorts myself from the Austin store. Still unsettled by the way I had been treated, I decided to return the shirt I purchased--concluding that neither Carrie nor this location deserved my business. In closing, I strongly believe that anyone working in retail should be trained to engage all customers with equal respect and courtesy, regardless of personal bias. Employees who demonstrate indifference--or worse, prejudice--toward individuals who look different from them are doing a disservice to the brand and the clientele. The staff here are extremely helpful! Especially, Haley in the shoe department! She was so good, we had to go back when we needed new shoes, when we easily could have gone to Fleet Feet or someplace closer to our house. We were at Saint Bernard in the fall and a young man, I cannot recall his name, helped us find the best ski boots for my husband and I. He was so helpful and patient and offered lots of advice and tips. The prices were comparable to any regular shoe store. We look forward to visiting again soon. read more

I came in for a few ski boot questions. The staff were very attentive and a few asked if I needed assistance while I was being helped. Nice welcoming shop to browse items and I liked the brands. The employee was honest and said he didn't quite know how to answer my questions, and called the main buyer in his cell who helped me out considerably. As I was walking to my gym (Equinox), I noticed the St. Bernard had ski / real winter clothes! This was perfect as my family & I are planning on going to Aspen for NYE. I walked in & was stared at by multiple employees. No one ever greeted me or asked if I needed any help. Even as i was looking & willing to purchase 980.00 snow suits right by the register. I walked by the kids items, the shoes, & the regular clothes. Still no assistance. In times like these when almost everyone is shopping online, you would think the few retail stores that are left would be ready & willing to assist shoppers that are still shopping in person. First time getting my snowboard waxed and tuned here and the guy (forgot his name) did an amazing job! The wax even smells good! For a simple tune up, it was only $15! The turn around was quick! they also offer other winter services too and have a nice selection of winter gear. The customer service was great! Justin was super friendly and helpful! I've been in numerous of times when they have either been dead or busy. Busy; I understand that you have other people to attend to but when you're not? You're going to stand around and talk to each other and not help any guests. I've been in this shop so many times for maybe half hours or less to find my partner the perfect gift and I've never ever been once been spoken to asked if I needed any help. This store needs better customer service! I came here on a Friday morning to pick up shoes that I ordered online and no one greeted me when I walked in. Four employees walked past me without asking if I needed help. I finally found someone to get my order from the back room and found out that my new shoes were slightly worn from being a store model. The employee that helped me seemed annoyed that I asked for new pair from the back room and she said that they didn't have anymore in stock. It's a gorgeous store, but save your time and money by buying online. read more

Wow. My worst retail nightmare experience came to life. It was my first time in this store, and I was excited about the complimentary cold brew that they provide to their clients. As I walked in, I was greeted by a gentleman and I was feeling good so far. Before I headed to the brew station, I tried on a few hats that caught my eye. I even took pictures because they looked so good, I actually wanted to purchase one. BUT After my experience with Libby, belittling my coworker and I when we asked for a COMPLIMENTARY cold brew, she made it a point to say they these were for "paying customers only". Not knowing that I was actually interested in purchasing a $240 hat, out of the whim. I can't help to think that because my friend and I are of Latin descent, that she treated us differently than she would a white client. Not only am I no longer purchasing this fabulous hat, I will no longer step foot in a place that treat minorities differently. As a retail partner in the center, I am disappointed in the level of customer service and disrespect and will think twice before sending my clients to this location. read more

Was specifically looking for a pair of shorts today. When I entered the store there was a serving station I found inviting, so I poured a beer while I tried on the shorts. No one asked me for assistance or greeted me. As I was checking out, Jason (on my receipt) basically lectured me that the taps were not self serve and that "in any restaurant or bar, you would not help yourself". Well, I travelled around the globe, and many hotels and establishments have "help yourself", and instead of him being considerate about my error, he tried to make me feel foolish. I had shopped at Saint Bernard several times in the past with good experiences, but Jason left me with a bad experience. We love this store! Our entire family shops here, great selections from men to children! My husband loves this store and this is the first place we go to for his clothing and my daughters clothing! Great selection and he loves the Barbour, citizens of humanity, bonobos, mizzen and main selections! I also love the fact the shoe selection is great for both of us too! Saint Bernard is extremely diverse and has a great collection of clothing, accessories, "gadgets", candles, Yeti products, jewelry, luggage, shoes, blankets, snow wear, sun wear, and much much more.... Most of my Christmas presents were purchased from Saint Bernard. I was able to find something for everyone AND have a cocktail or two in the process. One of the many things I love about Saint Bernard is the parking. From my observation, it is one of the few (if not the only) stores in River Oaks District with its own designated parking spots -- right outside the front door! Make sure you ask for Libby when you stop by. read more

I have mixed feelings about this store. I will preface this by saying I am not deducting any stars for service - though I had to ask for help 3 times before some one got to me. I gave it 3 stars due to product selection of snow clothing. They tend to mostly carry high ski gear - $400 too almost $2000. While I was there I only saw ONE jacket under $275 and it was a North Face jacket. Not a bad product, but they certainly ignore ALL the snowboard brands outerwear. You won't find any Burton, 686, Volcom, or DC outerwear here. Maybe it's too pedestrian to them. I can only assume they eschew the lower priced products so they can convince people they need to buy that two thousand dollar jacket. But here's the rub...they carry snowboards, bindings, boots...just not snowboard outerwear. It almost feels like back when snowboarders weren't welcome at ski resorts, then the recession happened and then the mountain were begrudgingly opening up lifts to snowboarders because not enough skiers were coming. Maybe I'm not their target demo. I'm not a skier and I like to get value for the dollar. I wish they carried something for everyone, but it definitely feels like it's geared toward skiers with a smattering of items as an afterthought for snowboarders. read more

We were struggling to find a place in Houston to heat mold our mountaineering boots for an upcoming alpine expedition. Luckily we wandered into St Bernard and I am so glad we did! The quality of service was fantastic and we had a great time hanging out and talking with the staff while we waited for our boots to mold. They have some amazing shoes and if you are a runner they carry the full collection from On. There were espresso shots, beer, or champagne to hold you over while shopping. My wife and I decided to do some 30-40 minute power shopping one evening and were very pleased with the staff at St Bernard's. We had a couple of friendly, professional sales associates help bring us clothes and make for a quick fun shopping event. They even brought my wife a glass of wine and me a beer to enjoy our shopping experience even more. They even made the checkout special with an extra treat once they figured out it was my bday. St. Bernard in River Oaks - Houston, TX is a wonderful shopping experience. With staff member, Libby Pauley, in particular - it has become a destination for my entire family. My husband and I love it and so do all our kids, ages 6-26. There is really something for everyone. Libby is incredibly helpful and manages to keep everyone occupied while she finds items to suit us all. Not an easy task! She also keeps me informed when new items arrive that she knows would be perfect for all family members!!! My new favorite store! Not only do they have the best of the best apparel and equipment for skiing and snowboarding (including skis, snow boards, boots, & bindings), they also have all of the hottest collections to wardrobe my entire family! I live close by so as I'm taking my puppy for her walks, I make it a point to stop in the store to check out their new arrivals. My puppy gets excited as we approach the store because she knows the staff will feed her biscuits and I'm offered a glass of champagne as I shop. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgable! I shop with Libby as she always knows what will look great on me and offers great ideas and suggestions when I'm shopping for others. A big bonus is that they have their own parking spaces directly in front of the store which saves me valuable time when I'm in a hurry.
