I posted a review about these guys once already, just wanted to add more info.. I canceled my account on November 11. It's not super complicated as long as you are prepared - you have to have a website (http://fitnessconnectionusaforms.com) and user name and password (workout , 1allDay40). They provided this via business card when I asked how to close. Once logged in you have to have more information such as all the personal info you have them when you signed up, your membership agreement number, and your membership type. I had to call and ask for my agreement number. I spent a lot of time on hold but they eventually gave it to me. I'm fairly confident their policy is that you have to give 30 days notice to cancel, so that would mean my account should have closed on December 9. However, on December 5 I was charged for the full month (they did prorate my first month). They did the same thing to my wife's account (should have closed Oct 15, paid for full month October 3). We essentially paid for almost 2 full months after we stopped going (my wife actually never went). It's not worth the effort to get them to fix the error and I'm sure that's what they are banking on. Just be aware, and do you best to cancel at the end of the month so that your 30 days is up before they charge for another month.. 1 star review stands. read more

Word to the wise: NEVER sign up for a membership with Fitness Connection. I've had this membership for years but the billing issues are NEVER ending. Take your extra 20 dollars and go to a gym that has their shit together. read more

I signed here recently and I love it so far. I paid $99 down for the use of the Woodlands AND Greenspoint locations, then only a $10 a month charge. Chancelling is easy, just make sure to follow directions. The facility is clean, there is every machine you could think of, theg even have a room for women (no men allowed). The bathrooms are clean, there are lockers, showers, and changing rooms. This is my second month there and I love it. read more

Overall this is a gym and it has what you need to get in a ultimate workout. With the new addition and equipment I must say I am impressed. The reason for the 3 out of 5 is the joining process and sales team. They use a bait and switch technique and are always hassling you for new memberships. Almost to a desperation mode at times. read more

I cannot say enough horrible things about this place. This gym is not only disgusting but the employees are horribly rude. You will be charged hidden fees after cancelling and nobody will help you get those fees returned. Customer service does not help. Managers at the gym do not help. Every single person I've talked to have been horribly rude and demeaning. This is THE worst gym around. BEWARE!! FRAUD!! read more

Right now is a great time to sign up with Fitness Connection for $10 to start a membership and $10 a month with no contract. For that price and what the gym offers it is a fantastic deal and you would crazy to pass it up. read more

Basic gym. Good variety of equipment. Cheap. Not one of those trendy gyms for soccer moms.

Called and spoke to a clueless person. I asked about a day pass. She was like you need to come in a speak to a sales person. I then again told her I am from out of town and just want to work out. She had no clue how much they were. Ten minutes later she gets on the phone and tells me $15. For a day pass????? Hell. Lifetime is only 10. LA Fitness got my business. They are 4 miles from this dump and charge $10 daily. read more

If you want a good trainer be sure not to sign up with Fitness Connection. They are unprofessional, liars and cheaters. Don't join them and don't let them have access to your money. read more

Could not leave the stars at none, other wise I would. My wife signed a contract for a personal trainer on 3/31/2015 and paid the first month of $105 and an enrollment and processing fee of $99 and on 4/28/2015 another monthly fee of $105. Since she signed the contract, they have not made it easy to schedule sessions and even set up her first session and then said they did not have it on file. After requesting a female trainer, they said the did not have one for two weeks and put her with a male trainer. This trainer has been almost impossible to set up time with unless it fits into his window although my wife has told him she can only do it at certain times. She has now had 5 sessions with him and he has failed each session to properly train her. First she was supposed to be measured and weighed at the beginning of her contract and was not measured and weighed until she complained 5 sessions in that this initial step had not been done. Also, this trainer spends training time trying to schedule the next training and then spends most of the training session on his phone. All in all, my wife gets about 15-20 minutes of an actual 45 minute training session and not once did he have a regiment set up for her. He was, also, suppose to have a regiment set up for her when she was not training with him and did not give her anything until she complained again after that 5th session and the regiment was not in terms that could be understood. All in all, Fitness Connection has not fulfilled their side of the contract and refuse to let us out of the contract although they have admitted it was not done properly. The whole bunch at this location, other than the manager, John, who was just reassigned are snake oil sales people who are only interested in hitting numbers and not on their customers. If you are looking to get a personal trainer, this is not the place to get it. read more

This place is pitiful. I went in a couple days ago to see why I am being charged 2x what I should be getting charged a month. They wanted me to bring a statement to prove it and I did. After I got the statement I went back and they said the managers were on break. Okay, I said I'd come back about an hour or two later. Then I come back and the managers in a meeting. Okay, so they will call me the next day. I wait and no call still 3 days later. This place seems to have dis honest people and I don't like it. read more

Horrible customer service!!!!! I spoke with Rick about Xtreme and PT. within the 3 days I decided to cancel because I was getting a new car and it no longer fitted my budget. His response was"you choosing a car over your health?" Really? What I choose to do with my money is my business. Well every time I tried to cancel he wasn't there, at an interview or at lunch. They acted as if he was the only one who could do the cancellation. The one day I visited, they texted him again....mind you I have not seen or spoken to him. He tells Claire to tell me to leave the contracts and he would take care of it. I checked in a day later and he said to tell me he sent in the emails to cancel. I go back to verify again and I find out he only canceled the PT. I have not seen or spoken to Rick and tells them that he told me I had to cancel the Xtreme myself. Damn LIE! We NEVER spoke at all. Next thing I know I'm getting a call stating that I have to pay an additional month. I'm freaking PISSED!!!! I will never step foot in a fitness connection again. And because he lied about it I went ahead and cancelled everything. When you call customer service they tell you to leave a message. I left a message with my information and best time to call. When they call it's not a live person it's a recording telling me to call. When I call of course it's Leave a message. This went on for 3 weeks. Finally get someone ask for supervisor who until this date 2. 7. 16 has not called because I met the 3 days but because Rick lied I was charged an extra month! I hate liars and fitness connection. Now that I'm going to dispute I'm sure everyone will be calling....smdh read more

The gym seems like a good deal, after all, they have everything you need. However, if you get a trainer and don't want them anymore it takes calling, emails, and letters to stop the draft from your bank account from happening. I am out hundred of dollars because the process took so long. Also, I have been being charged 20 bucks a month for the gym and I haven't gone in MONTHS, I have written letters saying I want to cancel services. It seems great that there is no contract and you pay month to month but they screw you because the cancelling the drafts is nearly impossible!!! I have been on hold for 30 mins just to talk to someone to see why they aren't cancelling my membership even though I have called and written letters. read more

Terrible. Scam. First of all, when we went into the gym to sign up there was a sign that said sign up for $O down and $10 a month. We were told we missed the 6 month maintenance fee. But we had to pay around $100 a piece for me and my wife and $70 something dollars for my son. So the sign says $0 but we had to pay almost $300 for some reason. Plus the monthly fee of $33. Now - none of my family has gone to the gym for 2 to 3 months. I go to the gym to cancel and I have to do it online. Then it says I should pay the maintenance fees and monthly membership because you require 30 days notice. I just changed car insurance with immediate notice. When leaving a job 2 weeks notice is common. This is ridiculous. I know several people at the gym and I will do my best to get them to switch to another gym. Unless this is rectified I will be your worst advocate. Clearly I do not agree with having to pay maintenance fees and the monthly fee but you are forcing me to sign to cancel. Cancel immediately. Buyer beware. Scam. read more

Great price for what you get. They have everything you need for cardio and weights. My only issue with this gym is that it needs a bigger men's restroom. It cant handle the volume of people at 5 pm.....just sayin. Also it would be great if they could install a steamroom or sauna. read more

Cost and convince are awesome, but the when I took a cycle class the fan was broken and the room smelled, like a dirty locker room. Couple other classes I tried were okay, but lasses were so large space was an issue with being new. read more

Dude its not bad for the price at all. About the contract make sure a month before you cancel or stop going you send them something in writing to the corporate office. I wanted to try out this gym because it's cheap. The bars were old and rusty -- if you want to Olympic lift at all don't waste you're time. Also there are NO clips anywhere. The guy next to me said that he brings his own. (What?) I was doing a free trial and they kept my ID at the front desk during my workout. When I came back to the front desk it took the GYM MANAGER 15 MINUTES to get my ID. He was trying to sell me a membership for $19.99/month when the website clearly says it is 9.99/month. He then decided to take his sweet time although I was clearly in a hurry. At one point he had my ID in his hand and said hold on I'm just going to run this customer's payment real fast. He literally just had to hand me my ID. I was very disappointed in the lack of professionalism and would not go back to a Fitness Connection if you paid me. read more

Not sure there are so many haters. Frankly, I was happy with the facility when I switched over from the YMCA. No disrespect to the Y, but it was nearly $100/month/person, small facility and not the vibe I was personally going for. Low energy, uninspired music and members. I wanted an open space with lots of equipment to choose from, bumped up music in cycling classes and members who were (mostly) there to get the job done. Kids club included. Classes included. Locker room with showers included. Is it perfect? No. But why are you there? If you're there to workout and focus on you and your progress and not worry about anyone else, you're golden. The equipment is maintained and largely available when you need it. (I workout M-F 8:30AM). If you're into classes, you can find instructors that know their stuff and are there to motivate you and push you. (There are a couple I wouldn't recommend, but whatevs, you pick and you choose). I didn't want to get a trainer and go through their "Complimentary workout," (I've been an instructor myself as well as a personal trainer, I'm fit and I take my gym time seriously) but I did it, and I got a trainer. He kicked my a$$ and I've loved every single second of it. For me, great investment. I DO know that I lucked out with my trainer, however. Had I been given someone else, I would've said something and demanded a trainer that LOOKED like a trainer and gave me the personalized attention I paid for. Bottom line. Great bang for your buck. I don't have an issue with anyone. (Most) every member is there to improve their physical self and the environment gets that job done. read more

This gym has a lot of potential. Great selection of equipment and lots of space. However, people who work out here do not re rack weights and the staff does not put things back where they belong. You will be walking all over trying to find weights. They also only run the AC in the cardio section of the gym. If these are things that bother you, find another gym. If you can deal with it for 10-20$ a month, this gym is for you. read more

It may be 10 bucks a month, but you get what you pay for. Not enough weights and bars, and what is there is never re-racked. The racks of dumbbells are generally empty yet there are very few people in that area. You'll find the dumbbells scattered in lots of locations around the gym though, which is a testament to the lack courtesy many members apparently have for others. There are fewer barbells than there are benches that require them. Then when you do find a barbell you have to spend more time searching for plates. Aside from seldom getting re-racked, there simply aren't enough plates. Staff never walk around gathering weights. Only when I complained to the manager on duty did anyone attempt a walk through. And it was half-assed at best. They don't monitor or enforce the rules such as re-racking weights and no large bags on gym floor. Don't post rules around the gym if they aren't going to be enforced. I was told the reason they don't enforce the bags on floor rule is because of a theft problem in the locker areas. Nice, great promo for business. You forgot to mention that when I signed up. And don't bother attempting to contact customer service via email or the form online, you won't get a response. Even when I called and left a message no one called me back. A second attempt another day resulted in someone answering and he asked that I forward that email with pictures that I had originally sent. I did, and after several days, surprise, no response. I had to email again. read more

If you're a female, be very careful in the parking lot at night. It's not safe and cars are broken into all the time. It amazes me that they don't care about safety. There is the CREEPIEST foot massage place by the front door....it's always dark with the guys hanging out late (around 10:00PM). I don't understand why they don't listen to customers. I have never seen anyone cleaning machines...they truly are disgusting. Many of them are rusty and don't work smoothly. The short guy with dark hair that works the front desk could care less about lifting his head to say hello....just wants to scan you and move on. I don't think anyone is held accountable for their job there. Can't wait to find another club that is cleaner, safer and friendlier. read more

DO NOT WORK OUT HERE. Whenever they charged my bank account a much higher price on the wrong day, the manager Mike was so rude to me that i was in tears. I was in shock. Never again did i want to walk into that place. When I called the "home office" they couldn't help either. All they could do is tell me to write a written agreement, mailed certified, to ask for a 30 notice that i would be quitting their gym and to expect one more payment. DO NOT WORK OUT HERE. read more

Avoid them! They are dishonest and rude! We've had so many issues with account payments and you can never get a hold of the right people. I asked the receptionist to speak tot he Manager about my account being in collections (my cc expired and they never sent a letter or called advising me they needed a new # and sent me straight to collections after 30 days without notice). The receptionist said the Manager was unavailable. I asked when I could call back to speak to them she said never! That the Manager would NEVER be available to speak to customers. I laughed and said thats not very good customer service and then she hung up on me! Two weeks after that, they were running a promotion for $10 down $10 a month so I referred a family member. He went to sign up (the promotion was still posted on the door as an active promotion) and they refused to give him the promotional price saying they forgot to take the sign down and the promotion ended 4 days previously. How can a company forget to take a promotional day 4 days after a promotion ends??? My family member is young and they convinced him to sign a contract and told him to call and maybe negotiate with "corporate" (knowing he would never get anywhere). Fitness Connection is a fraud! They mislead their customers and have horrible accounting practices! They hide behind being a "private company" and use that as an excuse for poor customer service! They refuse to make things right for the customer and offer false services. read more

Terrible service! Beware almost IMPOSSIBLE to CANCEL MEMBERSHIP. We called the 800 number who says they have no record of my daughter's membership. If I could give this gym ZERO stars, or NEGATIVE stars, I would. I allowed my 17 year old daughter to join this gym because several of her friends were members. Within 60 days, she had creepy men following her around, saying intimidating/threatening things to her and her friend, and making them feel entirely traumatized. We obviously told her she was never to set foot in that building again. The management did the very minimum to remedy the situation. They can TAKE your money and ACTIVATE your membership on site, but what do you know, they cannot (WILL NOT) issue refunds or cancel your membership on site. They gave us dead end phone numbers, wouldn't take or return our calls, and continued to charge our credit card until we finally had to cancel the account. Low and behold, we began to receive calls from them EVERY DAY when they could no longer take the auto-debit from our bank account. I have never in my life received this level of poor service. To join this gym is to buy a one-way, non-refundable ticket to hell. Spend the extra $20/mo on 24Hour Fitness! read more

New Year, new life and off I went to check out Fitness Connection in The Woodlands. Been driving by the gym for the last two years and keep seeing the banner in the front ($10 per month - No contracts). Decided to check them out and hit the company website: www.fitnessconnection.com and did a bunch of reading. By doing this, I was able to sign up for a Free 5 day pass to try out the gym (probably could have gotten the same thing by going in). From that moment I was like a fly caught in the spider's web. I received emails, text messages (not just one but like 5 within 24 hours - even at 2am), and a phone call from the club directly (9:45am). So I think some may find this a bit irritating and well to be honest I can't fault them for the aggressive tactics. I was given an option to opt out by not giving my phone number. I really didn't mind as I wanted to experience and get as much info as possible. So as I mentioned I received a phone call from Ron (Asst General Manager) in the morning and set up an appointment later that day. The gym is a no frills gym - just machines, machines, and more machines. Everything was clean, and the staff was very helpful. Now unlike the Greenspoint gym(15 minute drive south), this doesn't not offer any extra aerobic classes; however others gyms in the area do. Once a member of one gym you have access to any others. So here is the nuts and bolts to everything - 2 basic programs: 1st - One time initial membership fee $99, annual membership fee of $35, and monthly fee of $10. 2nd One time initial membership fee $149, annual membership fee of $35, and monthly fee of $20. No contract, pay as you go. If you decide to sign up, they will do a fitness evaluation on you, and I believe that everyone can get a 4lb container of chocolate or vanilla protein mix. Access to the gym is basically 24 hours a day except from Saturday at 8pm to Sunday at 10am ( they are closed). Overall happy with the presentation and the facilities. Plenty of machines and you will not have to wait to get one. BTW if you decide to visit the gym for a tour, ask for RON and tell him Victor sent you. read more

Very disappointed in lack of customer service. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Unfortunately, I had experiences much like Albert N., and Kevin S. expressed below. Got a recorded phone call @ the beginning of Feb stating that they were having trouble receiving payment since OCT (mind you, I am NEVER late on payments & ALWAYS have wiggle room in my accounts) THANK GOD I never gave them a voided check like they had virtually insisted on receiving when I first signed up...my credit card company is now disputing the excessive DOUBLE (two late fees per month) fees that were charged...I called the corporate office hoping for a manager that would AT LEAST remove ALL late fees being that I was not notified until FIVE MONTHS later that the payments were not going through. Rep (who are so unprofessional that they don't even provide their name at the start of the call) stated that there was 'no one' in that office who had the authority to remove all late fees (I am pretty certain this statement is untrue) after being insistent that the rep i previously spoken with had removed multiple late fees without even mentioning to me that she had removed some- even stated that she had no idea how that previous rep was able to do that. Called again today after MAILING (A requirement) my cancellation notice close to a month ago, the rep (who did not introduce herself either!) stated that I would be charged for the month of March as well bc the letter was post marked Feb 5th and the charges go through on a monthly basis automatically. Why would I want to pay for an additional month when I just canceled my membership? Then, she pleasantly stated that I could use their facilities for the entire month of March as if she was doing me a favor! I know they say the cancellation COULD take up to 30 days, but why would it not be effective the VERY DAY they receive the cancellation notice?!? Needless to say I am not a happy camper and am even more frustrated that they insisted on charging me late fees that I should not be responsible for...let's see if they send me to collections! read more

It's a no-frills gym, but for $10 a month plus a yearly maintenence fee of about $35 it's amazing; Plenty of parking out front, plenty of cardio machines, and an expansive weight room. The staff is friendly enough (don't buy the supplements), locker rooms are clean. There's no classes or other amenities like other locations but I didn't really need that stuff in the first place. I started my membership a year ago with it being $40 down and $10 a month. I decided the one in the woodlands because it is close to home and I want the option of multiple locations because I work at Greenspoint. I was told in a years time this gym would have classes and would be bigger and so on and a year later and they are still using that same line on new people who come in. It hasn't happened. The managers are extremely rude. I wanted to bring a guest on two separate occasions and was told when I signed I had the option of 3 guest up to 5 days. When I called to let them know I was bringing someone in there was an attitude and they hassled my friends before they could even look around and one manager said well I should have filled out their profile. Well I didn't know at the time who would agree to go. They pressured both to sign saying they would never have a deal like this again. They also said they only had a one day guest pass and not five. Told them they should have gone online and printed out the 5 day pass. I looked right at the guy and said y'all always have specials and he flat out said no we don't. He literally started arguing with me right in front of a potential customer. Pressuring my friend that it had to be that day. This wasn't sales!! This was being a bully. He also gave her the same line that they would be growing getting classes in a year. I have been so disappointed with the staff and facility. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I used to love this gym. So sad that the people running it are a bunch of crooks. First off, my car got broken into and my window was shattered in their parking lot. My purse, credit cards, cash, ID, all kinds of stuff were stolen. I went inside and told the guy at the counter what happened. He said it happens almost every day. He went to tell his manager, his manager REFUSED TO TALK TO ME. I saw him shake his head and say "don't worry about it, not our problem". Luckily, I knew the guy at the counter from high school. He calmed me down, walked me to my car, helped me call the police. Once the police showed up I asked if they could use the surveillance cameras from the gym. They told me they couldn't... I asked why and they told me that every time someone's car gets broken into in their parking lot they refuse to give up footage claiming that their "cameras are broken". But yet they refuse to get them fixed even knowing this is an on going issue. Apparently the 'word on the street' is that the criminals breaking into cars and heading to Greenspoint might have some affiliation with the managers/employees of Fitness Connection. I wouldn't be surprised if this is true. In addition to my incident, my brother had a terrible experience as well. He doesn't check his credit card statements too thoroughly (which I know he should), but one month he realized that Fitness Connection had charged him THREE TIMES what his monthly rate was. This puzzled him, so he went to previous months and found out this had been going on for 6 months. He immediately went to the gym with his statement and asked them what was going on. They told him that two other memberships had been added to his account. TWO OTHER PEOPLE with names he had never heard of had been added to his account and charged to his card for the past 6 months. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? They told him he would have to call corporate to get it resolved. Which he did, and after many phone calls and WEEKS later he was finally refunded the hundreds of dollars he never should've been charged. BEWARE!!! read more

This goes back to a Small Group Training class, that I canceled a few days back on Wednesday, 02.07. I requested the customer representative that I spoke with on the phone to send me a copy of my contract where it stated that these SGT classes would go month to month after the One Year commitment, she would not, Nor send it via an email. I was able to find the contract and in very fine small print, small enough to need a Magnifying Glass, I did find the words, month to month. My concern is, if Fitness Connection is not trying to be deceptive, then why were these words put in much smaller print than the regular wording? I spoke with a financial representative in April 2017 stating how much I did not want to stay in the class, and was reminded that I was in a One Year contract. I was told no, after requesting to get out of the contract, and no on trying to pay the contract off early. Knowing that I was unhappy and that I wanted to be out of this class, the representative for Good Customer Service should have informed me that at that time, that after the Contract Fulfillment was met, that it Would Be Extended Month to Month if no cancellation online or written were submitted. That did not happen. I will not be referring anyone to them. read more
