Since remodel you no longer accept FC plus members from other Fitness Connections. Have been member for about 15 years of Fitness Connection. Woodlands is now so called Elite location. Champions and every other location allow members to visit other locations. This location has no exercise classes, no kids club, and isn't actually Elite at all. I only visited when in the area but won't anymore. They expect you to pay extra to only occasionally visit and treat you like they don't want you there. read more

They don't notify you of any fees associated with the account and don't notify you when something is wrong with your card until you built up a couple of late fees so the out notifying you till a month later. Also when you try to cancel they don't tell you that your paying for the month you cancel and next months. Cat at Fitness Connection went above and beyond to ensure I was properly informed of equipment the gym offers and how various pieces work that I didn't understand but now do thanks to her clear explanation. She was uplifting, positive and was busy with customers, handling phone calls, greeting and engaging with customers etc. The way she multi tasked efficiently was inspiring and done to the utmost! Thanks Cat for all you do!! Also, management and team is always helpful, courteous and warm. Love this place! Shout out to Brandon who is a personal trainer here. Had a membership here. My credit card had an issue. No-one at the gym told me. If they had told me, I would have paid them. They waited a few weeks then charged me a late fee. The front desk people said the computer says on XYZ date a employee talked to me. That is a LIE. No-one said anything to me. The front desk said I could call the 800 number and ask for the late fee to be refunded. When I finally got a hold of someone, they said the late fee was already processed and they could not refund it. Another lie. I used to have a small business. Credit charges can be refunded months after being charged. read more

Extremely Unprofessional !!! Eloy the supposed GM approached me as I explained that I saw their ad on Yelp for a Free 5 day pass. He says "oh sure!" and tells me about the gym & the current special that (supposedly) ends today. I'm sure. He's polite at this point but encourages me to sign up today, even though I advised I'm literally evaluating multiple gyms in the area while I'm on work assignment. ... I go off to work out on my own. I'm setting up my phone, have a movie started, my AirPods in my ear. 1 minute has gone by when 2 Staff members approach me mid-run on the treadmill... they are talking but I cannot hear them. So I stop my movie & pull out my AirPods. "Have you had a personal evaluation? How long have you been a member?" They ask. "Um. I've literally been on your premises for 1 whole minute." I answer. "Oh! Enjoy your workout!" They say.... Hmmm. In all my years I have never experienced anything as such. Are you serious?! You literally have your PT's harass clients mid-workout?! Unbelievable. After running for 1 hour. I go to the front desk to retrieve my DL that Eloy took. Further, I inquire how do I utilize the remaining days of my 5 day pass. Eloy clearly has an attitude and says "oh if I'm not here they will not let you because you have an out of state id. Plus we never promoted a 5 day free pass. Facebook must have made that up!" Um. First of all, I never said FB. Second it's Yelp and Yelp doesn't just create promotions for companies that companies don't agree too. I inform him of this. He has an attitude now though, so I just shake my head & leave. Bottom line: - Acknowledge your promotions! (It behooves you to do so for your "non-towel providing, non-amenity" gym) - Don't have Personal Trainers harassing clients! That's absolutely unacceptable! - Don't get unprofessional when you think a person might not sign up ! Each person has a right to try out a gym before committing. Based on your unprofessionalism. I really had high hopes for this place but was greatly disappointed. Often when I am going for a run on the treadmill, I'll be interrupted by a trainer trying to set up some personal training plan. If I wanted a trainer, I'll go to the front desk. The place is filthy. The women's fitness room smells terrible. There are ants in there as well. It's not really even worth the 9.99 per month. ***BEWARE*** Do not try to go here in the MORNING!!! What business turns clients away? I tried to pay for day pass this morning at 6:15AM this morning and was told I could not pay to workout in an open gym... The gym was clearly open but I was not allowed in!?!? He told me I would have to wait till 8AM... I asked him if there was any possible way I could get in and he tried to push a membership on me!!! That is where I became frustrated. You cannot take my money for a day pass? But, you can take my money for a membership!?? Ended up having to leave, wats 30 minutes of my morning and ruined my workout for the day.. They completely exclude an entire customer base, women with young toddlers and babies. There is not appropriate childcare available if you are a mother with a baby. The expectation is that you should hire a baby sitter if you want to work out for an hour. There is also a level of disrespect from the fitness consultants especially when it comes to appointments. How is it that you can set an appointment that they agree to, yet notify you when you arrive that they are no longer able to keep said appointment? The lack of adequate customer service suffice it to say is lack luster and disappointing at best. The only benefit to this facility is the amenity of childcare they offer to older toddlers and children. read more

This review a long time coming - been a member now for about 3-4 months. There are basically three requisites for a fitness center: 1. Close by to your home. If not then you will Simply not use it any more after a while! 2. There are sufficient machines so that you can do your workout whenever it suits you - and of course that it is open 24/7 or near that so that you have access to the facilities 3. It is affordable This place hits all three big time. It is 10-15 minute drive from my home, there are machines as far as the eye can see (even if the spacious parking lot seems full I ALWAYS have choice of workout options) and is open virtually 24/7 and you can't beat the $9.95 monthly rate with a stick!!! BIG ASS Fans give this gym probably most of its rating. Let me be honest gyms are difficult to review, they ALL have the same issues. They ALL seem to have the possibility of cars being broken into, please find my other post for a different gym I've had this happen at. Gyms are easy targets for this kind of selfish act, you go in you generally commit to an hour and they know that, and MOST gyms I have encountered have a façade of what are surveillance or its broken. The gym upkeep is better than most I have experienced, plenty of machines that still have an abundance of life to them, this includes the logos and various directions of intensity, speed, resistance are all still visible and able to read. Unless you memorized a machine having these user friendly labels worn off can be disastrous. The childcare room while spacious is chaotic. I understand members are only paying 10 and change a month (yes 9.95, but there are the little pocket change fees that are broken down and added on), so you get what your paying for, but its a free for all zoo in there sometimes. And, the toys they do have which they are sparse, definitely have seen some love as many are broken. This gym will keep me coming to it though as long as the group classes I enjoy continue and those huge wind machines keep humming and drumming, such great fans! read more

I've been here for a couple months and it's great! There are a lot of machines so waiting time is minimal! The staff is really friendly and helpful and the whole place is very inviting. The sauna and showers are open and all the machines are back to normal. It is not mandatory to wear a mask so if you have trouble breathing while working out it's great. They also have a ton of classes to choose from. read more

This is the other facility I visit frequently and I signed up. The gym is pretty spacious, with a wide variety of machines, and friendly staff. Just recently I noticed that there is staff that cleans the machines once they have been used which I appreciated (although I still clean the machine before I use it). I've been a member at this gym for probably over 10 years along with my wife and four teen children. Because of Covid, we've had to adjust but its way past now and this company is still closing early and on Sundays. So I've had to drop four memberships and transfer them to planet fitness where they're open longer and all seven days. I understand that you make most of your money from the people who don't go . So please understand if I transfer the remaining memberships to another gym was because you don't value the members who do use your gyms regularly and on all days. read more

Straight to my face said I could NOT cancel my child's year membership even though she moved out of state. That I had to buy her out or just wait the year. So I did just to now find out by a different manager that I could had canceled due to her living out of state. One of the most affordable gyms around the area that contains an amazing community inside. Definitely a gym that anybody can go to whether they be a beginner, intermediate, or advanced. Over crowded. I signed up for a membership a week ago, I went twice and I will not be going back. Lots of body builders and women trying to show boat. Not really my kind of crowd. During my workout 2 men stood 5 feet from me discussing the women they met while in New Orleans, how many strip clubs they attended and alcohol they drank. I also read a lot of people have had issues ending their membership. Hopefully I don't experience the same. There is a lot of equipment and options that's why I gave 2 stars. I used to love this gym back in the day but now it's ridiculous. Reggie the general manager has picked a horrible staff to run this gym and after meeting him I can see why. Reggie harassed me about certain policies but refused to enforce it with others surrounding me. The main woman in front has been super unprofessional over the few times I've been, Yada, has rushed me into getting a membership, when speaking to another worker interrupted to put her opinion in regarding MY financials and more unprofessional behavior. Their cleaning crew is just as horrific. They use the machines while 'cleaning' and then DO NOT wipe it down. For them being clean and having safety first, it does not seem their cleaning staff is on the same page. read more

I tried to cancel my membership several times over a few months. My father was hospitalized suddenly on September 3, 2019. Many unbelievable complications. While sitting with him I attempted to cancel again. I would receive an error when I input my Key Tag ID. I took a picture of the error. I called the location and they said that sometimes that happens and to keep trying. Finally a month later I was able to get it to go through. In my situation I was not able to talk on the phone much and sometimes need to move to a different location to use my computer. This was not easy. I wrote a letter and asked for someone to please call me about my issues. Nobody called. Today, (10/29/19) we are still in the hospital but I called the corporate office. Corbin at corporate also confirmed there are issues as I explained with cancellation. She said her manager said I would still be charged the monthly fee for the upcoming month. I offered my proof. She said the only reason I will not be charged the yearly fee is because the cancellation was received in time (before the 15th). There was NO consideration for their admitted technical difficulties nor for my situation. It was obvious I was still in the hospital due to the background noise. And if asked I could have provided proof for that too. Although, you would think when more than one person confirms technical difficulties with cancellation via website you would think they would not charge you another monthly fee. I have to assume this is purposeful to collect more money. Terrible! Several of my friends are now attempting to cancel as well. read more

Ray's Cycling class is amazing you always feel welcomed, the music is really good, it's always a GOOD GOOD WORKOUT, but we need MORE bikes in her class or a larger room it's so CRAZY how many people come because it's just the best class. Upgrade on those bikes as well!!. read more

I've been going to this gym for around 10 years and I love it. The only downside is their personal trainers have a high turnover rate but if you intend on just using the gym itself it's great! I would suggest going early morning or midday, it's absolutely packed around 6-7 pm but most gyms are. The classes are really fun as well but again, high turnover rate. Overall this gym is my favorite one to go to. read more

Highly recommend everyone join this Fitness Connection. I've been to a couple of them but the one off Sawdust is by far the best in my option. The staff the exceptional. They care about their facility and customers. Not too long ago I had dropped my phone inside the stair master. Landon, the evening manager went above and beyond to make sure my phone was returned. He was patient and kind throughout it all. He took the machine apart as much as he could, stuck his hand in it and got greasy and dirty and still didn't stop until my phone was in my hands. Sales person was not knowledgeable and they're not offer anything to us, we got the membership but when it went to take our daughter to the daycare and found out that you have to pay $9 a month extra! That's just unacceptable we cancel our membership same day we were not told anything information out front. Childcare is a joke. Three people for about 100 kids and one of them just did checkin and check out. No infants that are sleeping are allowed to stay in their stroller. Crawlers out of the week Brandt area around the big kids, big kids in theater room sitting on the high seat backs, big kids running through the infant area. What a mess and unsafe environment! Avoid. They're horrible. My bride and I came by, and were offered a good "no contract" price. We were interested in personal training, and they said they'd have the personal trainers "very soon". What about prices on trainers? "They're affordable" we were promised. Weeks passed, and finally the trainers showed up. Affordable? No. Twice the cost of the old gym downtown, and you have to sign up for 8 sessions a month. We cancelled. We thought we were done. No contract, right? The charges kept coming. So we cancelled the debit card they were billing. Next thing you know, we've got a debt collector calling our house - they never contacted us before turning us over to the collector. These people are dishonest. Avoid them. read more

I gave this place one star becuase the lowest rating possible to give a place is one star. The sales reps are misleading about the gym membership details as far as what all it will entail as well as distorting the requirements to cancel. The gym itself is pathetic with low quality equipment, overweight trainers who overcharge, not to mention the fellow members who all look like potential rapists. I signed up for a membership based on the notion that they give three days to cancel without having to worry about being charged any additional fee. I signed their contract, and gave the place a try, but for the reasons mentioned above decided to opt out. I cancelled my membership the following day, but here is where my experience with this gym gets interesting. In order to cancel they require that you mail a letter of cancellation along with your copy of the membership contract. I joined on a Sunday and cancelled on that following day which was Monday. My letter would have a postal stamp with the date right after my membership was created. Months later I recieve a letter from a collection agency regarding a 45 dollar balance that I owe Fitness Connection. I never recieved any call from Fitness Connection regarding any outsdanding balance. Please note that the last time I checked my credit score it was at an 810, becuase I have never in my life allowed anything to go to collections. When I called to dispute the balance in collections, I was told that they have notes showing that my letter was not recieved til seven days after the day I signed my contract, despite it having a post-dated stamp for the very next day. I had no luck getting them to fix my situation, infact the first person I called hung up on me the moment I explained that I would like to dispute the charge. The second person I talked to only offered a condescending tone and had even attempted to make up scenarios in order to excuse the company's bad business practice. BEWARE OF ANNUAL FEE AND WHEN IT HITS! I joined 3/7/15 and paid the fee and one month. Then on 4/15/15 (5 weeks later) got hit with another $29 fee (their annual fee). Yes they told me there is an annual fee but they fail to tell you when it is and you assume it will be in a year from when you sign up! NOPE I talked my fiancé into joining on 3/17 and he got it 2 weeks later! Would have been nice if the guy would have said 'you know you might want to wait 2 weeks and then come in!' So I pulled my contract out and actually this annual fee hits at different times of the year. If think if you sign up between April 1 & June 30 your annual fee will be in November. So basically this so called annual fee will be within 6 mos or less of your start date and then after that it will be annually. So this is how you should do it - Sign up and pay a fee DONT BUY THEIR SUPPLEMENTS - which they will push on you! Say you are taking Plexus or something. And then agree to pay $9.95 month (auto debit) I think they did waive something for me but I can't remember what it was. HAVE THEM PRINT OUT YOUR CONTRACT AND after you READ it! then SIGN IT. DON'T JUST SIGN YOUR NAME TO AN ELECTRONIC PAD!! Maybe you can even negotiate the annual fee to hit in one year and have them cross it out right on the contract? That's how they get you. So you will be paying more your first year than you think! Otherwise I like the facility and they do have tons of machines. They have a small women's machine and weight room which is great. They have a cycle room, a trainers room and a newly renovated class room. Besides the rip off fees the only bad thing is that they have FEW WEEKEND CLASSES! I was shocked because you'd think they could get lots of instructors on the weekends - people who want to work part time. The classroom and cycle room sit empty (unbelievable!). read more

If they had a rating lower than this, I'd use it. I joined thinking it was a monthly price I could afford. I wanted a simple gym, nothing fancy. I was mislead by management on the front end. Told it was no-contract, and that I could get a personal trainer. I was NOT told that the PT was, in fact, contractual. I canceled my membership in July of 2012. I did so at the front desk, as well as by certified mail. I was then called to collect on the rest of the contract with the PT. Of course, the manager who mislead me no longer worked there. So I paid up to the tune of $500. At least, I was assured, I was done with them. Not so. I have been charged EVERY SINGLE MONTH since then. I have sent messages and letters to their "customer service" department multiple times and received NO response. I finally contacted local management this morning, requesting a refund. Nope. Not even credit toward future use. I was told, instead, that despite the fact that I had verbally cancelled, turned in my membership card, and left a year and a half ago, THEIR COMPUTER SAYS I JOINED ONE MONTH AFTER I SENT THE CERTIFIED LETTER. The manager ACKNOWLEDGED that I was misled on both front and back ends, and STILL refused a refund of any kind. Not only that, but he had the audacity to say that despite his acknowledgment of all that I've tried to do, have done, and the complete lack of results...I have to GO TO THE GYM in order to cancel my membership "correctly." Which I did. A year and a half ago. Stay far, far away. read more
