Very good food! The hash browns were wonderfully seasoned and the perfect amount of crisp to them! We sat outside-- it's still a nice spot, but sad that they did away with the really great/decorated set up they had around COVID times. Service was fair.

We arrived at Fisher's Cafe around 9am on a Saturday morning. There were about 3 occupied tables, what I imagine is a fairly slow morning for a breakfast spot. We sat down, and it took over 5 minutes for us to get our menus - wet and sticky, at that. We waited again to order - three very simple breakfast items (two breakfast platters and pancakes with fruit). After waiting 30 minutes for our food, I noticed they had just put the pancakes on the griddle. With a toddler and an infant (who was getting increasingly agitated, sitting at an empty table with no food), we finally asked that they pack our food to go. No apologies for the late service, no acknowledgment that we'd been waiting over half an hour for bacon, eggs, and toast. To add insult to injury, they had the audacity to charge $6 for this amount of fruit ($7.95 for pancakes with coffee, $13.95 for "fruity patootie" - the same pancakes with fresh fruit - no coffee). I'm a mom so I know the cost of fruit has gone up, but this does not warrant a $6 up-charge. As they started packing our order, we noticed the gentleman who had walked in 15-20 minutes after us was already eating his food. Maybe because he hugged the owner/staff when he arrived? Who knows. An hour and $45 later, we went home to put the baby down for a nap and to eat our cold, soggy breakfasts. We had contemplated leaving without the food and canceling our orders, but didn't want to do that to a small business. It's too bad they didn't have the same level of courtesy for our family. We had high hopes for Fisher's Cafe from the reviews, but we probably won't be back again.

I stopped by here for a post-hike meal this past Saturday afternoon. Coincidentally, the best kosher pizza I've ever had (disclaimer - I'm not Jewish/kosher, but I've had my share of kosher food over the past year) is right down the street at Zevy's, but obviously that was a no-go on a Saturday. Without doing any prelim research, I walked down the street, saw that this place had a legit breakfast menu that I was in the mood for, and wandered in. The interior is pretty generic, basically your average diner though it didn't look rundown or divey. I made eye contact immediately with a waiter, who told me to sit wherever I wanted, and I was assisted shortly thereafter. Like a diner, the menu is fairly lengthy, with options for any meal in the day. After going back and forth on a few egg-centric dishes, I settled on the California Benedict ($14), which unsurprisingly featured avocado, as well as bacon. I liked the Benedict portion, though it was a little small for my appetite - that's partly from the hike, but you can see from the picture that it's practically dwarfed by the accompanying home fries. I'd upgrade to a slightly larger sized egg and biscuit/English muffin (not sure which it was) if only to make the optics a little better. The home fries were just okay - they were cooked fine, but I had to douse them with a healthy sprinkling of pepper, which I rarely do. Adding some seasoning into the cooking process would go a long way with them, especially since it's such a generous helping. The service was very good. I was thirsty (see above references to hike), and the waiter kept my water glass from completely emptying as I rehydrated. It didn't take long to order or get my food, and he also stopped by once or twice to check in. There was an additional employee who was assisting with bussing the tables, and that certainly helped as well. Honestly in the post-COVID era, when is the last time you saw a place arguably OVERstaffed? The price point was reasonable in my estimation as well. I'm not too familiar with Fair Lawn (this was my first time in their downtown area), but it's probably a LITTLE more blue collar than some of its neighboring towns, and the prices likely reflect that. Very pleasant meal that hit the spot though - I would have no issue returning if another Eggs Benedict-related hankering arose.

A hidden gem. I went with a group of three for lunch and we immediately were greeted by the employees upon entering. The atmosphere inside is nice- cute decor and music playing. The music is at an ideal volume to allow you to enjoy it while also allowing for conversation. The menu has so many good options it was difficult to choose. I ordered cafe con leche (coffee with milk) which was good. My sister ordered an iced caramel latte which she loved. As my meal I ordered the California eggs Benedict and an extra side of bacon which were really good. My only comment is that the staff should have provided a sharper knife to cut through the English muffin for my dish. Service was great. The server was friendly and very attentive. He filled our waters and coffee without us having to ask and came by to check if we needed anything without being overbearing. They have an outdoor seating area in the back. We will definitely return!

Fishers café is walkable for me. We went here for breakfast around 10 AM. Plenty of seating and attentive service. The menu is wide and varied with typical diner fare. The eggs Benedict was pretty good. Coffee was pretty good, too. There's a back patio for when the weather is warm. There's parking across the street or right in front. If you're in Fair Lawn, it's a solid bet.

Plenty of parking in the back of the restaurant. Outside dining as well. I ordered the California egg Benedict, the egg was cooked to perfection & the bacon was crispy. They didn't add the avocado which it was suppose to come with. The potato hash was very good too. Mediterranean omelette was very tasty, not to heavy. Nice local restaurant.

Came here after spending some time in town and was looking for a hearty breakfast, and this hit the spot! I had the Jeff omelette and it was amazing: the pico de Gallo was so fresh and balanced very well with the mushrooms inside. I also love how they added their potatoe hash on the side - such a great compliment to the meal. I also had the waffles and fresh berries and that was good, although, aired more on the dense side than "fluffy/airy." Service was okay, waiter did not come back after initially bringing the meal, but the food is definitely work a trip back.

This is my second time visiting Fisher's Cafe. The first time they were closed at 3pm, though on google it says 8pm. They must've been on break. Either way, I'll be returning. As you walk into the restaurant the scenery and ambiance is really nice, you can tell they paid attention to the details. 7/10 The service is great once someone finally speaks to you. I believe that this is a small family business where everyone chips in and I love to see that! In my experience, I got my own menu, sat myself and ordered at the front. It would be nice to be greeted by someone. 7/10 AND THE FOOOOOOD 8.5/10 I ordered the tostones with guacamole for starters which I really enjoyed. The guac was fresh and tasty, could've used a bit more seasoning for my liking. I ordered the crispy chicken panini and it was indeed crispy, good temperature, cheesy and delicious! The serving of fries were relatively small.

Never noticed this place and I've been in this area since 1989! You really miss it, if you are not looking for it. Tried it for lunch and it was very good. Most people seemed to be ordering breakfast type foods but I got a Philly Cheesesteak and Cheese fries (I had a craving). Both were very good. The Philly Cheesesteak was NOT a traditional Philly Cheesesteak of thinly sliced steak meat .. but more like a strip steak that was cut up into smaller chunks and then put on a round kaiser roll. Still, it was good and the portions were decent. The fries did NOT come with the sandwich so lunch, including coffee was $20, not including tip. Still, it was good and the burgers I saw looked delicious, too so I'll have to come back and try a few different things. I don't think there was any salt on the fries, which I could have added myself - but didn't. Hey, I'm trying to eat healthy haha. Loved the the old-school diner atmosphere and also the classic rock from the 70's playing (I'm old!). Only one cook and a waitress but it wasn't a long wait. The cook was moving very fast and I was impressed with his skills. He was working his tail off. I sat at the counter but there are several booths, too. Haven't seen the outdoor seating yet. Looks nice, from the pictures I saw. Posting a pic. How delicious does that look???

Such a nice cafe shop with a huge menu! There is plenty of street parking around the restaurant and we have arming in the back. The staff was so friendly and attentive. There is so much to choose from we need a few minutes to order. The omelette was cooked to perfection. My toast was a little over done but they everything else was tasty. They have long open hours for a cafe shop which we really liked. Everything is cooked to order. Coffee was made fresh to order as well.

We came in for breakfast before errands Saturday morning. Saw a sign on the door that they were currently only accepting Cash or Zelle payments. We have Zelle through TD, so we still went in. Fisher's is where you go for the basics done right. No fuss or frills, just good breakfast food. Worth checking out - it might turn into your go-to diner.

Outside seating is so cute and the restaurant smelled so good from the parking lot so I was very excited to try it. Needless to say that's where my excitement ended. We walked in the waitress stated they had a large party so the food would take a while. We waited probably 10-15 minutes for the menus and again for water to come. I asked how long the food would come out before ordering because if it would have taken a long time we would have just left. The waitress said probably 15 minutes since the large party already got most of their food, so I figured that wasn't too bad. But an hour later and the food still isn't here. Honestly if you have a big party and can't manage other guests too then you shouldn't be open to the public. Two waitresses came by to apologize for the wait. One had her mask under her nose the whole time!! What's the point of wearing it ?? I understand they are very busy but it's still not okay to make guests wait that long and give false wait times. The food came out 1 hour and 30 mins waiting for the food. My boyfriend ordered an Italian Panini with out onions and he had to correct the waitress twice, the first time she had down an omelette ? But when it came out there were onions and incorrect fries. I ordered the shrimp fajitas which were actually good. The shrimp had a lot of flavor and the rice was well made. Also when the food came we asked for the check right away since every thing took so long. The waitress came back around but didn't have the check we asked her again she just looked at us and walked away. Cute spot but I would never return. I never had service like that before. Would not recommend.

My wife and I finally decided to stop in here after passing it while driving for over a year. First, let me say the people working were super friendly. They asked if we had been there before, and also let us know they would be open on New Year's Day. The food is super cheap and delicious. I had the huevos rancheros and my wife had the eggs blackstone. Both were delicious and filling. The portions were just right, not gigantic, but also not too small. We will definitely be coming back in! read more

What a nice change of pace for a diner. First off their prices are excellent, staff is very friendly, and everyone in there are return customers. Seeing the staff knowing the names of their customers is always a good thing. They have a awesome selection of omelettes. I got the steak and cheese omelette, basically a cheese steak in the form of an omelette. One of the best omelettes I have had. They also have amazing has browns that are crispy, greasy, heavenly. The omelette is light and fluffy, and you can visually see the air pockets in the omelette from how they cook it, so good. read more

Service is way to slow. You have 3 guys behind the counter with no organizational skills. The guy taking your order forgets half of what you ordered. Food is so-so. We work local and tried this place for lunch. we get an hour lunch. Ten minutes before we had to leave, our food finally came. Half the order was wrong. We asked for it to be packaged because we ran out of time.. Ladies if you want to go some where to look at 3 buff guys cooking, then this is the place. But do to eat because they cannot cook. read more

Amazing home cooked breakfast. Wide variety of specialty pancakes (my kids were excited). I had a basic breakfast of eggs, home fries and bacon - cooked better than I'd had at a diner in a long time. Glad we stopped in this morning. Highly recommend! read more

Service is great and food is even better! Cute place in Fair Lawn...Definitely better then the diners in town.. They serve breakfast all day too.. I had a grilled chicken wrap.. the chicken was juicy and it was wrapped perfectly... It didn't fall apart like they usually do.. My husband created his own omelet.. mushroom, onion and swiss cheese.. with a side of bacon.. he said it was delicious... This is our definite go to place! read more

Decided to check out this little place in town that so many people were raving about. Fishers Cafe is excellent. We made two trips just to make sure this place is the real deal. Breakfast only review The place is quiet and located right on Fair Lawn Ave where River Rd meets The menu is huge and has lots of local recommendation. The food has amazing flavor and comes out piping hot. The owner Luis is very involved and polite to all of the customers. He really knows how to run a restaurant. I made two trips in a week (client breakfast and family) and both times were excellent. No issues no cold food and no overpriced Bergen county excuses. Take a look at the pic of our receipt. We ate for four people and it was $30 with a $5 coupon that they gave us for our second visit. I hugely recommend trying Fishers Cafe. Support small local business and You will not be disappointed. read more

The owner is super-friendly, the place is immaculate but I've come to notice an issue here: if you come during the week at lunch time, the service is awful. There is only one person cooking and one person waiting tables - it is SO slow. I just can't afford the time that it takes. Stick to breakfast hours or weekends unless you have at least an hour to kill. read more

Quaint little cafe- the interior wall decor really puts you in a good mood! The light-hearted quotes on the wall remind me of a European cafe. Very affordable and big portions- tasty menu. Breakfast and Lunch selections. Much cheaper than the diner in town; family-run; friendly staff; good for big groups and 2-4 top booths. On-street parking in front or at the rear side. HIGHLY recommend it. :) read more

This place is great if you're looking for large portions. I've been here twice for breakfast and both times were okay. The omelettes are great, but the home fries are a little on the bland side. I also wish they made their hash browns fresh as opposed to frozen. Food took a while, but it made it palatable to wait due to the attentive and friendly staff/owners. I'd recommend this place if you'd like a big breakfast that will not break the bank. Just make sure you don't come when you're on a rush. read more

Place is awesome! Great food and service! Desserts are tremendous! Parking in rear. BYOB. Booths sit 4 comfortably. For larger party make sure tables are available. Breakfast menu is available all day. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Did I mention BYOB? What are you waiting for? Give it a shot! read more

Don't get me wrong the food is absolutely delish. The prices are great. The food takes a while to get to you but the food made it worth while. Very fresh ingredients and you can see them cooking it by the front. Only downside is that the service is pretty terrible. Our waitress was just not into it. She did not look happy to be there at all. Also it was very mucky. Not so appetizing to eat when your sweating. Seats are not comfortable, booths seem to only fit two comfortably. But if you can look aside all that, food is good. read more

Cute little cafe with an exstensive breakfast and lunch menu! I had come here specifically to try one of their eggs benedict dishes, since it seemed like most reviewers fancied them. Also I was interested to see where it was located since I had lived in Fair Lawn for over half of my life and had never heard of or seen this place before! God knows they could use another breakfast place around there since the only other options are either land and sea (ugh), empress diner, or some bagel joints! So we drove around looking for it and passed right by a few times. My guess is that the cursive window writing kind of threw us off... Once inside we were greeted by a nice gentleman who gave us menus and sat us right away. I was amazed too see the variety of food we could choose from! There was literally a whole page of eggs benedict alone! I opted for the Blackstone benedict which was an over easy egg with hollandaise sauce, spinach and avacado on an English muffin. I added on Canadian bacon, to make it seem like more of a real eggs benedict, lol. I chose the breakfast potatoes as a side. My cousin chose the town platter which was like eggs, hash browns, some sausage and toast. In addition to his meal he got a little glass of juice, literally 3 sips and done lol. My dish was pretty good the egg cooked just right and a great hollandaise sauce! My only complaint was that the English muffin was a little hard to cut through, like a bit chewy... Other then that my dish was tasty and very filling! My cousin enjoyed his food as well. The owner or manager of this place was very nice and was even talking to us about Yelp. I would definitely come again to try some other dishes! read more

Do not pass this cafe up. These fellas are doing food right. Really good breakfast with some items unique and worth multiple visits. Great burgers and sandwiches with their own flair. Their dinner menu is awesome the steak is the most popular the pork chop is killer the chicken plates are nice flavor experience. This is food done right by young men with talent. Must try. read more

A very unique and distinct taste, not your typical diner/cafe folks. I very much enjoyed both of my meals here (today is my second visit in a row, my bf is incredulous) and I have to say it was AWESOME (both times)! The "Huevos Rancheros" that I ordered each time were soOoOo good. I'll be uploading a photo of it, you need to taste it. The avocado was soft, the poco de gallo was fresh, and the eggs were cooked to "over easy" perfection. They were also served with three warm soft flour tortillas so eat with. Seasoned it with salt and pepper to suit my liking, and BAM you got yerself a regular customer. The cafe is set with booth seating, which I personally enjoy and it just smells mad good inside. They have parking outside, and their hours are pretty good. I think the owner is Dominican, I'm almost sure of it. But either way, my people at Fisher's Cafe make the best tasting food on the planet, so I have to tell my fellow Yelpers where the breakfast goodies are. Happy eating! read more

I feel like I had the exact experience as the reviewer Michelle below. I have lived in Fair Lawn over 20 years and never heard of this place, found it on Yelp! My husband and I wanted a casual breakfast Friday after dropping our son at pre school. I ordered The Blackstone which is eggs Benedict with spinach and avocado and got bacon on the side. My husband got the French toast, eggs, and turkey bacon. Food was incredibly fresh and delicious. Such high quality at a great price. They kept the coffee flowing the whole time and very friendly service. We will be back! read more

Cute little diner. I can't believe I've never been here before and never noticed it! In comparison to some of the diners nearby, this one is much cleaner. Their menu is big but not so big you can't choose. Great options for omelets and eggs benedict. Go for the benedict! read more

Since moving to Fair Lawn, this has been our go-to breakfast place. The diner in town is only so-so, so we were very pleased to find this little cafe. The staff is very friendly, and it is good for kids. Very nice decor, and my very favorite breakfast dish is the eggs with chorizo, toritillas, salsa, avacado, and black beans. Very delicious and authentic, since the cooks tend to be Columbian. Cute little breakfast/lunch spot in Fairlawn. I've been here twice with a friend and the food has been excellent both times. This time I got a BLT on rye with a side of mayo. My friend got banana pancakes. The coffee is decent and they keep it coming. Seems like the place is run by 2 brothers/friends? so I imagine that if it's busy they may have a hard time keeping up. My BLT had the perfect balance B L and T. The only downside was the packets of mayo they gave me on the side, it was some no name brand of mayo which kina grossed me out but I still used it. I'd prefer the mayo in a little cup but like I said I still used it and it was still good. Side note, I wore my "Merlottes" shirt to this place (True Blood fans know what this is), and the guy asked me if I worked there. I thought that was cute and gave me a little chuckle. Love this place! It's got a good amount of tables and they always seat you quickly. We normally come mid Sat-Sun mornings and have the eggs benedict (switching it up between the many versions that they have), or regular eggs & corned beef hash & some home fries. Lots of flavor and the food is very well seasoned. Last time we got ahead of ourselves and also ordered the strawberry cream cheese french toast to share which wasn't what we expected, but we still enjoyed. Natalia is always our server and she's awesome - super sweet, attentive and funny. I'll def keep coming back. read more

Been here twice and its not too bad. Large menu with many options to choose from. The Mediterranean omelette i ordered was okay but waaay too many onions! I didn't even taste the feta. Small quaint cafe located just east of River Road. Food is excellent, service is as good as it gets, and prices are quite reasonable. I've been here twice for breakfast and both times were thoroughly enjoyable. The menu offers numerous choices of omelettes, pancakes, and the like. Portions are substantial. Your coffee cup will be refilled continuously and always with a smile. The cafe is small but we didn't have trouble getting a table either time we came. I had an omelette and pancakes on my two visits and thought each meal was as good as any thing I've had at more expensive places in the area. The food, portions, and prices are unbeatable. The service however is total s**t otherwise this would have been a 5 star rating. The usual waiter, a young Dominican girl, is either the owner's sister or his sister's friend or something like that. She is horrible. Takes forever to come to your table. Never looks up so customers do not bother her. Almost never stops by to ask if everything is ok. Check takes forever. You will spend more than an hour just waiting for her. What does she do? She sits at the end of the counter yapping away with friends or on the phone. Yaps away on the phone using wired earpieces while serving! And her attitude is as if she is doing the owner a favor by being there. Classic case where you should NOT hire family or friends. We would go there more and tell friends about it but neither we or our friends have half a day to waste waiting for the princes waitress at a luncheonette. The owner should stop being cheap and find an adult waiter that actually wants/needs the job and knows what they are doing. read more

There's a good amount of seating, but on a Sunday lunch hour there was a small wait so it might be worth calling ahead if you're expecting to arrive during a heavy mealtime or coming with a large party.
