I have not seen a crab cake that looks like this. I guess I am used to seeing them light and flakey. Not hard as a rock. This was supposed to be my lunch today. I think I will pass. This was the Richardson location. They look like salmon croquettes. read more

Fish Shack - Crab cakes - Seafood Near Me - Richardson, Texas

I've been here a handful of times and always leave stuffed and happy. The seafood soup is the best! It's full of shrimp, fish, and veggies and is made fresh to order, so nothing in it gets overcooked or soggy. The po'boy bread is also very fresh and not too tough, not too soft. The menu is big, and everyone should be able to find what they're looking for. The daily specials are great if you can't decide on anything. Portions are big, so show up hungry! read more

This place makes Pappadeaux look like absolute child's play. If you're looking for southern-styled fish, you gotta come here. You order at the counter and the servers walk the order out to you. Pretty straight-forward. I ordered a fish/shrimp combo platter, and the quality of both the fish and the shrimp were remarkable! I was actually pretty surprised considering how my experiences with most fried seafood places come out dry (cough, here's looking at you, Pappadeaux). We ordered char-grilled oysters for the table, and I also found those surprisingly delightful as well! I usually avoid oysters because the raw ones have a very real potential for catching Hepatitis A (look it up, y'all) and cooked ones are just blegh, but these char-grilled ones both were cooked AND had that freshness of a raw oyster. Splendid! One star off cuz the fries are a bit lackluster. Might be a bit harsh there, but I love potatoes, so there you go. read more

Visiting the new fishshack! Met my hubby for lunch! Great food & great service as usual. Great personalized service from Frank, the owner. We love fishshack! read more

Fish Shack - Meeting my amazing hubby for lunch!! Day off today. Awesome bloody mary & fried catfish & oyster basket. - Seafood Near Me - Richardson, Texas

Been here a couple of times and can't say enough about the place. Staff is always friendly. I've tried the poor boy, gumbo tilapia and catfish and it has all been very good. The daily specials are also a good deal. Can't say enough about the place and can't wait to go back. read more

You've had the rest... now try the best!!! Best seafood in Plano, TX... imho... owners are super nice!! Staff is great!! The oysters are always fresh and the seafood soup is to die for! This place is my go to when family/friends are in town.. heck.. even when local friends haven't been there I take them! What are you waiting for?! read more

GREAT PLACE FOR SEAFOOD IN RICHARDSON!! Do not be discouraged by the long lines at this popular place -- they move quickly. We were here in a Friday night and the place was humming on all cylinders. The ordering process was smooth, and we were able to get our drinks and find a seat. Within 10 minutes we had our dinners, which were very good!! 30 May 16 -- Back for lunch, and as expected the fish was fresh and flavorful, served quickly and at a reasonable price. We had the grilled grouper Poboys with hush puppies -- YUM read more

Good local chain. The prices are affordable. The fried crabcakes have been a family favorite.

First time trying this tonight. It was good. I ordered the hot shrimp boil with sausage. The shrimp much larger than Big shucks and I feel like they really gave a full pound of shrimps. The shrimps are firm and sweet, it peeled easily , sign of freshness. My boys ordered fried catfish basket. They said it was good. The price is reasonable for seafood. read more

Food, Service, Taste. Had this a long time ago and it was just so good and tasty, would definitely recommend.

Food - 4 Service - 4 Value - 4 Fish Shack is one of those seafood places that just serves up good seafood at a decent price and just let's the seafood stand on it's own without doing anything too fancy. We like starting off with raw oysters and then my wife likes the fish options and I prefer getting grilled shrimp or boiled shrimp. Their fried food is good too, but I try to stay away from that now since it isn't as healthy. read more

I love this new location. Wide open space in contrast to the 15th street option. Same delicious food maybe even better. Great gumbo. Can go wrong with their boiled shrimp and hush puppies. We always get REALLY good fried oysters & fried shrimp too. Love it. This is our go to place for seafood. read more

Great customer service and reasonable prices. The food was fresh and tasty. They have a full bar and outside sitting is available. read more

Fish Shack - Catfish and Shrimp Combo with fried Okra - Seafood Near Me - Richardson, Texas

I orders gumbo and today's lunch special which is tilapia tacos. The portion is good Tastes awesome I'm going to come back every other week. read more

Some dang good fish. Personally, I always get one of the fried baskets, but friends have said that the grilled fish is great as well. My dad likes getting po-boys, so it seems they do lots of things well here. This place is busy, busy, busy at lunch. But if you can get here before or after the rush, lunch is when this place thrives and despite the long lines you usually don't have to wait very long. It is definitely slower in the evening, but the food is still just as good. Also, the people that work here are super friendly and go out their way to help you. read more

Ordered take-out from here last night and while it wasn't bad, I had higher hopes based on all of the glowing reviews. I ordered the combo basket with 2 fried catfish fillets, 4 fried shrimp, and onion rings. I also threw in a side of hush puppies for good measure. The catfish weren't bad necessarily, but I've had better. I actually preferred the shrimp and wished I had just ordered a shrimp basket. The onion rings were on the bland side and the batter wasn't adhering well to some of the slices. The hush puppies were decent, but once again, I've had better. I might come back for the shrimp if I'm in the area, but Fish N Tails is closer to my house and I prefer their food over Fish Shack. read more

I loved the casual, but clean environment. There was something for everyone to enjoy and all the fried fish was super fresh and crispy with just the right amount of batter. The hush puppies were hot and fresh, crispy on the outside without being greasy. I had the seafood salad and it was SO MUCH seafood for the price (around $8). The kids enjoyed the fish fillet, salmon, and chicken strip meals (all between $4-$6) and everyone left full and happy. I will definitely be back! read more

RANCID CRAWFISH!!!!!!!! Lowest quality oysters!! Unfortunate excuse for a margarita!!! The only thing they got right was the frog legs. We literally just walked out & left 4 pound of crawfish, 2 pounds of shrimp, half a dozen oysters & 2 full margaritas sitting on our table. ***We paid in full & tipped the staff, but couldn't stomach the rotten garbage they tried to pass off as seafood. read more

Awesome food and awesome service. Everyone who works there are so polite and take really good care of you. The food is to die for.

Don't know what all the rave is about this joint! Food was terrible and absolutely no service whatsoever.

Are first time coming here very disappointed on how their food tasted we ordered fried shrimp hot boiled shrimp and fried fish it was all awful it had no taste, and I have never tasted a michelada that tasted bad until now, Don't wast your time eating here. read more

I really wanted to like this place but sometimes no matter how much want there is, reality sets in. I'm really customer oriented which means I think about the customer and what they may need. We ordered calamari and it was ok but we had to ask for appetizer plates and an extra fork. Because utensils are not at the table? Or accessible. Then the food came and instead of placing the plate in front of me, it was handed to me, "here." Maybe that was the moment I said to myself, I doubt I will come back. I ordered the special and I don't think it was better than Long John's. :( Last but not least, we had to go get our own refills! Oh there are places that have watering stations, but they did not and so if we wanted a refill we had to bother them. Maybe my expectations are high but not really. Just have a standard for different type places. If a place is friendly I tend to have a great time. If not, well... read more

We had a large party and this place easily accommodated all of us. There is s small private room that can hold at least 20 people. They were very friendly with good customer service. The only downfall was that you have to order at the front and not from your table. However, they still brought the food to the table. I had fried shrimp and the dungeness crab. The shrimp was perfectly fried and the crab was seasoned just right. But the best of all was the price. This food is very reasonably priced. This is a no frills place but who cares if you are getting so much for the price not to mention the good food. It's worth taking the time to visit. read more

A clone of the Plano menu in a more upscale venue...down to the powerful Long Island Iced Teas. Of course, even with the sale of 10 déka olive oil, you don't come to fish shack for drinks or oil but rather the fresh fish! Now we have to lean on Frank (the hands-on owner) to cater at the Plano International Festival. read more

Took my better half here Saturday night (5/28). This was our first time here; at this location anyway. I love that this used to be a restaurant. It is in the previous Soulman's BBQ space. So, it has lots and lots of room and very inviting. Like the Plano location, it's pay at the counter and get a table. And like the Plano location, they yell your name when it's ready and you raise your hand like a second grader. OK, this method for this type of place needs a look at. Why not have a number system and have your runners go by that? To be honest, the yelling was quite annoying. Food wise, my better half got the catfish platter and I got the blackened scallops. I also got a bowl of gumbo. The gumbo was OK. It wasn't spicy or anything, so if that is what you like, you will like it. The catfish and scallops were good. No complaints. All in all a good experience. We'll definitely be back to this location soon. read more

Another place that is getting a lot of buzz that seems undeserved to me. I ordered clam chowder and a fried oyster po' boy. Both made me sad. The clam chowder was watery, not the creamy dream that I'm used to getting. Now, I just moved here from the east coast, so I know that the chowder is more of a thing back east, but you shouldn't put it on the menu if you can't make it properly. I was so disappointed. I almost gagged when I ate the fried oyster sandwich. The oysters were bitter and not clean. Gross. Aside from that, there just wasn't a flavorful taste about anything we ordered. My daughter had the catfish po' boy. It was just okay. The fries were blah. I liked the patio seating and the interior was nice. I found our cashier pretty rude, and part of our order was mixed up. Not a great experience overall. We won't be returning. read more

My husband and I tried this place last night. It is in the old Soulmans BBQ place. The inside doesn't look much different. It was very clean. We ordered the shrimp cocktail. It had a lot of shrimp. We ordered the large. Our only complaint is that it didn't come with tortilla chips like most. We ate it with crackers. We had the 2 catfish and 4 shrimp. The portion size of the fish was large. It was enough for us to share. The beer was cold too. This is always a plus. The food was really good. We will be back. read more

I'm a fan of the Plano location. This location is just as good. I love their catfish. Battered and fried to perfection. Well seasoned. Their hush puppies are also outstanding. Fries are good, too. I'm not a big fan of their tartar sauce, runny and flavorless. This place is also very loud. It must be the space, this is the fifth restaurant I've been to in this location and they've all been crazy loud. I hope Fish Shack makes it in this cursed restaurant location. read more

The food is awesome at fish shack but only reason im giving it two stars is because of some employees at this fish shack are honestly so rude! I'll just stick to Plano and the nice crew there! read more

Back again for lunch with some friends. This time, I knew the deal on ordering, no issues of course. The food and service? AWESOME! Had 3 fish tacos (blackened) and a "cup" of gumbo. Cup....really? It was a bowl. My friend ordered the bowl...and it was well, HUGE! The gumbo was tasty. Loved the amount of shrimp/sausage/chicken in there. Great kick with it. The taco? Yeah, I could only eat one. It was BIG and very tasty!! Love the dipping sauce too. Took the rest home so I'll be having that later today for lunch. Gotta love that! I'll be back for sure!! read more

If you like the trappings of Pappadeaux but balk at the prices, Fish Shack is the place for you. This is good New Orleans food at a reasonable price. I was able to get a fried shrimp po'boy and a bowl of seafood gumbo for under $12. The gumbo was tasty, but the po'boy was the All-Star. The shrimp was lightly breaded and fried, but was still "light" and didn't weigh my stomach down with grease. If you and your TV have separation anxiety, fear not. Because Fish Shack has multiple big screen TVs showing the various sports games of the day. The food came out pretty quickly even at the busiest time of the day. Check this place out! But don't tell them I sent you. They have no idea who I am. read more

Love that Fish Shack opened up in Richardson. I ordered the catfish basket with 3 LARGE filets and onion rings. The batter on both the onion rings and catfish are very good and the catfish flakes deliciously. I also ordered a side cole slaw and this is the only thing that I would rethink. It tasted like chopped slaw greens and plain mayo. The beers are reasonably priced- under $4. This location is still relatively new, but I think it would be great if they could get the alert buzzers to let you know when your food is ready and not have the servers walking around calling out customers names. All in all, it's a great place and that's just me nit picking. I am going to go back again and again. read more

DO NOT.. I said DO NOT ever ever eat OYSTERS here! It may look plump & juicy but it's ROTTEN!! I had two bad ones & my sister had one bad one! She spit hers out but I couldn't & had to swallow it!! It's like having sewage for lunch. We told the manager & he said he would refund half but because we didn't eat one oyster he gave us $4 FOUR dollars back!! Half of $11.95 is not $4!!! Come on, after three bad oysters he expected me to put more sewage n my mouth!! We will not return here again! read more
