Beautiful spot to eat on the water, but the food was pricey for what we got. Had to get the fish and chips and the fish was not battered properly some parts were soggy and it fell apart easily. The fish itself was fresh tho with good cream of tartar sauce. We also got the fish tacos and there just wasn't much flavor. The outdoor seating was nice just maybe didn't pick the right dishes.

The wait is always long but that's because the food is that good. They have a regular menu that you can check out while you wait but make sure to look at the specials on the chalk board once you get inside. Everything is good--from the expected fish and chips to ceviche in a sublime kicky mango sauce. It's seafood but with a thoughtful twist, like the trout loaded hot dog or the mussels in a delightful curry sauce. Plates are not skimpy and if it is a nice day you can eat outside at a picnic bench.

Beautiful spot for a lunch with a view.. lots of people agree as the lines are out of the door! Once you order at the counter , find a table and the waiter brings the food. Loved the clam chowder, crab roll.. other items on the table were the Fish hot dog(okay), salmon sandwich( huge dish). Must go for the views and fresh fish!

Fills the sea spot when in front of sea water view and wanting the taste of the sea! Yummy fish tacos, fish and chips and white clam chowder! Their hot sauce with lime flavor, complemented well with the fish tacos. I adore the water view and a lot of seatings available all over the restaurant in different spaces. Parking was ample. A long line all the time to order the food. Staff was efficient with getting the orders out in a timely manner and friendly. Atmosphere is casual and nice.

Always yummy food at fish. Came in with a group of coworkers on a rainy April day. Place was packed as usual. Have to order a cup of clam chowder whenever I come here. And fot the fish and chips. Biggest pieces of fish and chip you will ever see. I do wish that I would've been able to sub for string fries vs potato wedges. Coworkers ordered fhe bao tacos and salmon burger.

Best place for fresh seafood if you're craving fish and chips, a bowl of chowder, or a batch of a dozen oysters. The staff here is extremely friendly and even threw in an extra oyster for us when we ordered a dozen. There's plenty of seating if you're coming with a large group or want a casual meal to enjoy the beautiful Bay Area sun. I highly recommend the fish and chips!

I have eaten here probably 20-30 times and it never disappoints. Seriously. I do not exaggerate. It's Fish. So fresh and so good.... Allow me to explain. The setting: Sausalito on the Bay is a short ferry boat ride across from the SF Ferry Building or the first exit when driving over the Golden Gate Bridge. Fish sits along the waterfront near a marina filled with beautiful boats and a wondrous view of Belvedere and Angel Island. It feels like it was once an old fish hut or a bait shack in its former days. They have a fantastic outdoor patio with seating, and a cozy back room filled with comfy chairs and a book nook. The food: I consistently order the following items, for not because I do not wish to try anything different, but because I love these dishes so much and I cannot get enough of them. The tuna melt is perhaps the finest tuna fish sandwich I have ever had the privilege of knowing. The portion is huge, enough for two people to easily share, served on thick sourdough toast, and with your accompanying side choice of french fries or asian flavored coleslaw. The fish and chips is a proper English style batter with a generous portion that can easily be shared by two or more. Delish. There are two variations of Clam Chowder; a traditional New England style and a red Portuguese stew that is delicious and anything but spicy. Both are good, although I wish this was served in a sourdough bread bowl. For a shared dish, try the kettle chips with the old bay seasoning. So yum. Side note: I have never tried the trout hot dog, which I'm strangely intrigued by, nor have I tried the fish Reuben sandwich. Maybe one day.... They also have a crab Louie salad that looks amazing. They have a few beer and wine offerings. The staff are accommodating and friendly. The prices are fair for the quality and freshness of the product. Fish. A must visit for any traveler to San Francisco or Marin County.

My friend made a recommendation to try this fish house in Sausalito. We took the ferry from SF, from the landing we did a 30 minute power walk to the restaurant. Boy was it worth the jaunt. Away from the main Sausalito bay tourist strip, we arrived standing in line for about 30 minutes, but once reached the counter, it was easy, menu was straight forward. We ordered the popular Fish and Chips and White Chowder. Worth the wait, hype is real, solid well seasoned dishes, tasty, crispy chips, the Chowder was comforting soup. Weather was so nice, 70 degrees outdoor seating, relaxing. Overall, good dishes, next time will try other entrees or starters to share, service was prompt and efficient. Next time I can bike to restaurant from the City and ferry back to complete my dining experience in Sausalito. Honest must try here.

Check the wooden board behind register for specialties: brussel sprouts, fish hot dog, etc. Went on a weekend, 15 minutes before opening, the line was beginning to form. Pay and order, then you seat yourself. Close parking is limited if busy. Clam chowder is yummy, a cup costs $8, and bowl costs $12. I wish there were more bread pieces to go with the clam chowder. Soup had potatoes, plenty of clams, veggies. Crispy brussel sprouts ($14) was interesting good. Drizzled in soy sauce fish sauce topped with some chili, giving it a sweet salty spice taste, compliments well. Fish and chips ($24) were delicious. Only trout option for fish. 3 large pieces of fish, super fresh and meaty piece. Glad it wasn't all just the fried crust. Gives plenty of tartare sauce as well. Potato wedges has a Cajun seasoning, I really enjoy it. Solid food option, but not close to downtown Sausalito

Dined at Fish after a long hike at Mt. Tam! There is a small parking lot right in front of the restaurant. I have been craving fish and chips for months and was happy to find a place in Sausalito opened late evening. We ordered the fish and chips, hamburger with coleslaw, and a bowl of clam chowder. The chowder was the perfect amount for thickness and came with a slice of bread and crackers. We definitely enjoyed the comfort and warmth of the soup after a more chilly day. The hamburger was plain, dry, and tasted a bit burnt. The serving size of the fish and chips was larger than average, but quality was decent. I would've preferred less thickness of the batter.

Best Valentine date for sure. We arrived about ten minutes before opening there was a small line already going. The line moved pretty fast seating inside and outside. Can't sit till you actually order your food which I definitely like. The service was great every staff member was very friendly and had amazing customer service. The food was just so good every bite was amazing. The vibes were friendly we sat outdoor close to the water the scenery was beautiful. Every food we order was delicious every bite was amazing this place is definitely one of my favorites definitely coming back to try more. Plenty of parking outdoor bathrooms beers on tap and also wine available just all in all very friendly and great staff it was a great turnout.

Nice spot to grab lunch after walking around downtown Sausalito! The restaurant has a really lovely waterside view if you choose to sit outdoors, but the tables can fill up quickly! I ordered the Portuguese Red Chowder and the Grilled Fish Tacos. The chowder has a strong tomato flavor and was packed with clams, which was great. Grilled fish tacos weren't very strongly seasoned, but I did enjoy it more after adding a squeeze of lime and some hot sauce. Worth a visit!

I like how quick the turn around is from ordering to receiving the food. You order up front and self seat at the tables outside. Ordered the classic fish n chips, cup of clam chowder, and ceviche. Once we got seated, we were already served the clam chowder and ceviche. The fish n chips came out not long after. Fish n chips 5/5: Fish was nicely cooked, beautiful crisp on the batter and fries. Tartar sauce was nice and light. Clam chowder 3.5/5: I liked the consistency of the soup, but tasted a bit bland and there weren't many clams Ceviche 3.5/5: Very beautifully plated and the fish was fresh. The flavor of the passion fruit puree felt like it didn't pair very well with the fish and made it taste sour.

We ordered a variety of sushi and also hot foods to try. We enjoyed all of the dishes we ordered. Looking back, I'm not sure if I had complaints about any particular one. I think the agedashi tofu is artfully done. I'm a long time ageda fan, while my boyfriend is iffy on it, but this one he thoroughly enjoyed. The fried fish with the house-made tartar sauce was a great appetizer to start off the meal. As for the fish, very fresh and quality. It was fun pairing the different sashimi with the variety of accoutrements like the shiso, lemon, and kelp. Service was fantastic as well. Overall, a lovely dinner experience and I would recommend others to visit Sushi Ran.

The bar is tiny but mighty -- great martinis, great energy, and absolutely worth getting there early if you want to snag a seat. It's easily the best part of the experience. Dinner in the main dining room is where things shift. It's loud, full of big party tables, and conversation can get tough. Still, the food has its highlights. The onion rings (really more like a mountain of crispy onion strings with a homemade dipping sauce) are a must‑start. The scallops over risotto -- a special that night -- were fantastic, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The ribs had great seasoning but were unfortunately more fat and bone than actual meat, which was disappointing for a dish that should be a crowd‑pleaser. Dessert is where Buckeye wins you back. The s'mores pie is the indulgent treat you didn't know you needed, and the baked lemon pudding leans more toward a lemon cake layered with custard and huckleberry jam -- bright, comforting, and memorable. A special shoutout to our waitress, who was an absolute gem. You could tell she was dealing with some less‑than‑kind patrons, yet she stayed warm, patient, and genuinely lovely throughout.
