Back at Fish N Beer for another visit and overall, the food is still solid and the staff are friendly. We had 8:00 reservations, waited about five minutes, and were seated at the high-top in the very back of the covered patio. I've sat there before and it's definitely not my favorite spot. The additional seating behind us was so dark that it made that whole section feel a little forgotten. Food was a mix of hits and misses. Grilled oysters 4/5, panko crab cakes 3/5, coconut ceviche 2/5, PEI mussels 4/5, and the FNB Basket was the clear winner at 5/5. Now for the unexpected dinner guest...a mouse. The table next to us spotted it before our food arrived, and eventually it started running around and getting pretty close to our table. Not exactly the company you want with dinner. I still like the food and vibe at Fish N Beer, but between the back seating and our little friend, this visit definitely was as strong as before.
We had a double date with my parents. My mom had a hankering for cod and chips. She enjoyed her meal, although she mentioned even though her meal looked like a huge piece of cod, it was pretty airy but still tasted good and wasn't too greasy. We also enjoyed the tuna tartare and wonton chips. The Scottish salmon was a little dry and I guess I'm just not a big fan of gnocchi. I'd probably try something else next time. We sat on the back patio with high chairs. It started to rain and the server offered to drop the waterproof shade but we liked the fresh air. The music was pretty loud so it was a little hard to hear. Seemed like a good date night spot. Parking was street. I think I'll give it another try but not anytime soon.
10/10 Hands down the best restaurant I've been to in Denver. Service for drinks was a little bit of a wait but the staff was friendly and acknowledged our wait. The restaurant has a fishing boat kind of vibe. Which was very cute. The branzino was to die for. Cooked perfectly with the potatoes and toasted peppers. The grilled octopus was also amazing!!! I need to know how the dipping sauce was made, I even used it on the branzino. I would come back just to buy the sauce. I was so in love with the two dishes. I highly recommend trying these. I'd like to come back and try new dishes
The best meal we had in on this Denver trip. I craving for some good delicious seafood and found this place while searching on Yelp. It had a lot of solid reviews so I had to give it a try. We can here on Saturday around 6:30 without reservations which I knew might have been a mistake but it turned out very while. Initially we had to wait an hour and 15 but actually wait time was about 35 minutes. They told us that they had community table with 2 seats open so we took it. Once we were seated our waitress Cleo was fantastic and friendly. She got our drinks order down and few minutes later our food orders. She was very attentive. As for food we ordered the following: 6 House Oysters- 3 Raw and 3 Garlic Wood Grilled- Absolutely fresh and delicious. The raw oysters tasted clean and briny. The grilled was done perfectly tender and not chewy at all. Smelt Fries- The smelt was also fresh and fried to perfection. Great size portion as well. PEI Mussels- Delicious and fresh. The mussels were plump and tender. The garlic butter sauce with calabrian chili's was delicious. Make you dip your grill bread into the sauce Wood Grilled Spanish Octopus- Outstanding, Octopus was cooked perfectly and grilled. It tender,moist and the taste from the wood grill was perfect. Overall very tasty dish. Overall, Fish N Beer delivered what was i craving for and more. If you're looking for some fresh seafood spot I highly recommend stopping by Fish N Beer. Until our next visit.
Absolutely a 5 star experience! Excellent Happy Hour that started with Guacamole, crab cakes, peel and eat shrimp, followed up with fish and fries, grilled oysters and raw oysters, endive salad, toasted focaccia bread with smoked fish, and ..... finished off with their FABULOUS KEY LIME PIE!!! Oh, yes there were a number of HO libations. Servers were great and eating at the bar and watching the totally pro chef team was super entertaining! Love the vibe here. Feels like you're in New Orleans or along the coast of New England. This is absolutely our favorite Denver restaurant and will be repeated over and over!
Nice establishment and nice people, but I was not pleased. While my partner enjoyed the branzino (whole fish), the stuffed cod was a total miss. The food was just average and perhaps we didn't try their "standouts," but this place didn't do it for me.
My wife and I had a top-notch experience at Fish N Beer and are already looking forward to going back. Everything about our visit was incredible. We started with West Coast raw oysters and the garlic butter wood-grilled oysters -- both were incredibly fresh and packed with flavor. The grilled oysters in particular were rich and perfectly prepared. For our entrée, we had the crab-stuffed cod, which was absolutely delicious and beautifully cooked. We finished with key lime pie for dessert, and it was the perfect bright, refreshing ending to the meal. We went on Valentine's Day without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised to be seated right away at the shared table in the front. We didn't mind the communal seating at all -- it added to the lively energy! -- but if you prefer a private table, I'd recommend making a reservation. There's also a great fish bar area where you can watch some of the food prep. The vibes were incredible -- energetic but still intimate. Our server was fantastic and very helpful in guiding our food selections. Easily one of the best spots we've found in the RiNo neighborhood. Highly recommend!
If you love seafood, run don't walk!! This is my favorite celebration spot and I love taking my friends and family here when they visit. Atmosphere is amazing and don't skip the wood grilled oysters.
This dinner started off on poorly and despite the dinner getting better as the food came out, it was overall a pretty "meh" experience for how well reviewed this place is. I will also say that we didn't feel like oysters at the time so maybe you will enjoy it more if you stick to that. We had a 630 reservation and arrived at 620. We were told they were waiting for the party at our table to wrap up, and since the bar was full we were asked to wait outside and they would come get us. In the next 20-25 minutes, we saw about 12 people leave and 10 people enter the restaurant (none of which came back out). I was a bit annoyed at that point so I went back in to check on our table. The host (different than the one who spoke to us first) told us our table was still eating dessert. So why were 4-5 other parties sat down before us? Anyway, we finally get seated and ordered the calamari, fish and chips, and market fish (branzino). The calamari was the worst I have ever had (no exaggeration). Well cooked calamari has a plump, springy texture. This calamari was dry, chewy, and thin. I feel like they microwaved the calamari and then battered and fried it or something. There also wasn't that much of it for the price tag. You would do better getting calamari at a typical chain like yard house or something. The peppers in the dish were the only thing we liked. The fish and chips were disappointing in that you only get 1 piece of fish and it was not seasoned at all. For $22 I feel like you should get 2-3 pieces. Batter was done well though and the fries were good. The branzino was the best dish. It was cooked really well and had a nice smoke and char. The fingerling potatoes were really good and the sweet peppers were cooked well but I think adding something with heat would have been better (jalapeno or serrano). They give you grated horseradish which is what I prefer, but it didn't have any bite, which usually happens when it is older. Overall disappointed with the experience. They never asked us how our food was so I didn't get a chance to tell them about the calamari. But that will live on in my memory forever as a clear example of how calamari should NOT be cooked.
In Denver for a weekend and felt more like an adventour rather than fine dining. Fish and Beer was the perfect spot. A small establishment with a seaside slant of fire grilled seafood with a upscale diner vibe. This looked intriguing and good yet not highly refined. We had no reservations on a Thursday night and we're seated at a high top booth overlooking the crowd. Our waitress, Cassie, was busy at the bar mixing drinks and hustling at a few tables. She was engaging and a good sense of humor. We ordered the blue crab claw fritters with a dipping sauce. The piping hot fritters were different in a good way. The grilled oysters that were flying out of the kitchen were to hard to pass up. We tried the devil and garlic charred oysters and were pleasantly rewarded. We could not pass up the Spanish grilled octopus with roasted fingerling potatoes in a spicy Romesco sauce. A slight char on the succulent octopus and buttery potatoes was a homerun. Following the grilled seafood theme, our final selection was the PEI mussels with garlic butter, Calabria chilis, shallots, white wine and homemade grilled focaccia. UNBELIEVABLE! The portion size was huge and packed with flavor. I felt like we were emerged in a long shoreman's diner but definitely upscale, quality seafood. Do yourself a favor a try Fish and Beer in downtown Denver. The staff is engaging, hard working and really good at making good seafood dishes served with big flavors. Very well done FNB.

Service was good but food was not that impressive. Came during happy hour and ordered 6 house oysters, smoked fish dip, mussels, peel and eat shrimp, fish n chips, and the stuffed cod. Oysters - didn't love either the mignonette or cocktail sauce. wish there was more hot sauce options other than crystal. i also got a couple shell pieces which was not pleasant. good way to chip some teeth Fish dip - dip itself was good. bread is super smoky. little overwhelming Mussels - sauce/broth was kinda sweet, wasn't a huge fan of. got some grit/sand and 2 or 3 mussels were completely shut closed so i didn't want to risk eating those Shrimp - underwhelming, just some old bay on shelled shrimp. def wouldn't get again Fish n Chips - didn't try the fish but the fries were good and liked the tartar sauce. if i were to come back, this is probably what i would order Stuffed cod - yeah i didnt really like this. the crab mixture was extremely heavy and cod was dry. plopped on top of broccolini with very little sauce. not worth it and i felt kinda gross after eating this overall, i'd only get the fish n chips during happy hour if i were to come back. based off my experience, they're not doing a good job of cleaning/shucking the shellfish. the seating arrangement here is also really weird. they have some seating where you're sitting with strangers and there's barely any room on the table. i would not be happy if i were seated in those spots. luckily we got seated at a private table. i'd maybe come back for happy hour if i was in the area but wasn't impressed with anything so wouldn't come out of my way for this. oh parking here sucks too so keep that in mind
5/5 next questionnnnnnnnnnnn Good seafood in Denver? Yeah sushi exists but actually good oysters? Yeah come here. Dior, our server, was awesome. Super chill personable and nailed the recommendations. The grilled oysters stole the show. If you come here GET THEM. They're amazing. Get half and half. truly couldn't decide which flavor I liked more. They were some of the best food I've had recently. The raw oysters were also delicious!!! Some of the best oysters in Denver HANDS DOWN. I wouldn't get the fried scallops again, even though I'm happy I tried them. They were just small and not too satisfying other than they were fried. The peel n eat shrimp were HUGE and tasty but not cut, so touch to peel. Can't complain tho. Oysters were so good

I love this place. Obviously all the fish and seafood is good here or they wouldn't have named the place Fish N Beer. One of the best things on the menu is the grilled bread. You can get it with the fish dip or mussels or if you know the secret menu and ask for a separate order of it. Highly recommend they add this as a side on the menu. Such a cool concept! Seafood and hip-hop? I'm into it! Anna was our server And she was truly a delight. She knew the menu like the back of her hand, and she was extremely attentive to our wants and needs while dining. She gave great recommendations and alerted us once happy hour was coming to a close... nice touch! We started out with the following oysters: Devil wood grilled oysters - Was supposed to be spicy, but Anna assured us that the heat level would be around a 2.5 and she was right! Garlic, wood grilled oysters - Very good but probably a little bit too much butter House raw oysters - They were from Virginia, but we did not get the exact name. They tasted fresh, but definitely did not knock it out of the park. Unfortunately, every oyster had some shells left in them from being shucked.... Which was not pleasant. For entrées we ordered: The Alamosa bass - this is a whole wood fire grilled fish, so be prepared to tackle it like a pro! The smoke on the fish was wonderful and gave it a nice flavor, but it did miss a little more seasonings. I had to add salt and pepper, which was a shame, but the chimichurri that came with the potatoes was heavenly! Hubby got the Brown butter & sage scallops dish, which he enjoyed very much! Seafood in landlocked Colorado? Well there's no way it can be that good, right? *insert extremely loud and obnoxious buzzer noise* WRONG! I am not going to lie, I set my expectations on the lower side because I've had quite a bit of bad seafood in Colorado but I was blown away with everything we ordered. From the exterior and interior, Fish N Beer is unassuming. It gives a very relaxed, neighborhood eatery type of vibe. The food on the other hand is phenomenal. We ordered the salmon and octopus and everything from how they were cooked to the sides (the potatoes with the octopus were SO good) to the sauce were amazing. There was not a single thing I thought was lacking with the dishes. To top it all off, I'm not a big dessert person, but the key lime pie was perfectly sweet and was delicious. I came in on a Thursday night and the place was packed. Luckily we had reservations. Our server was excellent....I wish I remembered her name. I had the chowder which I was hesitant on since it had sausage which seemed odd, but they were very small pieces and it was so good! I would definitely order that again. This is a cute restaurant with great food. Came here during the week with my husband and enjoyed our experience. The restaurant was smaller but comfortable and decorated well. We sat at a table facing the door, which definitely got pretty cold since people were going in and out. Would recommend they put in a heater for those front tables. I hesitate to give Fish and Beer the stellar review it reserves. The place was busy and the excellent review it deserves will only make it harder to get in. Seriously, we were visiting our son and his wife from Cleveland. We had more fun at F&B than should be legal. The small size venue was packed and EVERYONE was having FUN!!!!! The food is spectacular, we had tuna tartar, ceviche, octopus, smelt, oysters on the half shell, and oyster shooters. The wait staff were all knowledgeable and took the time I needed to ask a million questions. They have a hard job just navigating the narrow aisle but they take in stride. Their cheerfulness keeps everyone happy. Besides the great food, the coctails were awesome. read more

My friend and I were looking for a place to grab dinner, and this one caught my eye. I was craving chowder (after just coming back from Boston a few days ago), and I spotted one on the menu online. We arrived and the restaurant was a total vibe. Very laid back but with an energy, and the hip hop/r&b playlist helped too! We sat at the bar, and lo and behold it was happy hour. Was not expecting this! So we indulged in oysters, the smoked fish dip (amazing!!!), mini FNB basket, chowder, scallops, and two mocktails... then another round of oysters. My favorite of the items was the smoked fish dip. You'll have plenty left over to pile on your pieces of 3 bread that comes with it. And the wait staff is extremely attentive yet laid back. Some were moving to the beat of the music. I would def come back and try some other items. read more

Hook 'em -- Now. I'm not a UT fan but I am pretty sure fisherman (or Vikings) worldwide have been using that slogan much longer and it's a GREAT one to describe this spot! After one bite, you'll be hooked and wanna cast your net out for another delicious dish! Our Menu for the Night: Devil Butter Wood Grilled Oysters Calamari Peel N Eat Shrimp FNB Basket Scottish Salmon 5 stars, yes F I V E S T A R S for each. My catch of the day would have to be the Calamari -- mhmm it was seasoned, battered and fried up to make a statement! Beyond their great food, they had some of the best staff I've seen. The kitchen, servers, hosts and managers collectively worked together to serve and uphold their restaurants name. You could feel their mutual respect for one another! Easy five stars for Fish N Beer! We came here not knowing what to expect and enjoyed the best seafood and drinks during their happy hour. Our server was friendly and quick with our frequent reordering of grilled oysters and small dishes. We tried both grilled oysters (devil butter and garlic butter), smoked fish dip and Mussels Calabrian Chilis. The grilled oysters were a favorite but hard to pick which I liked better! We sat on the heated patio and had a great time. It was mostly empty when we arrived and filled up quickly. I can't wait to come back and enjoy more oysters! read more
Had a fantastic meal at Fish N Beer for Restaurant Week. I highly recommend making reservations as this place is busy. We were seated in the outdoor area and promptly greeted by our server. It was still Happy Hour, so I ordered a mezcal mule for $10. Our server also made sure to come to our table for last call, bonus. I also ordered 1/2 dozen of their house HH oysters for $2.50 each, which were sweet and delicious. Their Restaurant Week Menu was three courses for $45. For my first course, I selected the plentiful serving of mussels in a coconut broth with focaccia bread. I couldn't decide between two entrees, so I told the server to surprise me and not worry. I would not be disappointed. He picked the grilled chile relleno stuffed with calamari, shrimp, and scallops in a creamy yet spicy guajillo and arbol sauce. Super flavorful and filling. Dessert was a giant slice of key lime pie, my favorite. We left at 9:00 pm, and there were still people waiting in line out the door. read more

This has to be one of the easiest five star reviews I've ever written. We came in for a birthday dinner and we were floored by the amazing food and phenomenal customer service. The spot is very small and cozy. It's very clean. It's open kitchen style so you can watch them shucking oysters and cooking up some good eats. It was so fun seeing all the dishes come out and drooling over them. Caleb was amazing and provided truly stellar service. The guac with tuna and house made chips was my favorite app. All of the oysters were delish, best I've had in Denver. Can't wait to come back soon to taste more of the menu! read more

The best seafood in Colorado, hands down. The octopus is grilled to perfection, with a spicy sauce that is to die for. Loved the grilled and raw oysters too. Holy smokes Batman! Fish and Beer is such a vibe! The cooks are absolute rock stars, and you can really taste the care in every dish. The food is amazing, super fresh, never greasy, and clearly made in-house. Everyone there is so nice and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. The key lime pie is spot-on and tastes just like Key West. You definitely have to try this place! read more

- locate in the center of RiNo. Street parking - we made a reservation online - cute interior design and great background music - patio seating available Two things that I really want to highlight for this dining: 1) service: we were running a little late to the reservation and called front desk. They assure us there was no problem and kept our seat. During the dinner, there was a really loud group (looked drunk) next to us and they were screaming and talking obnoxiously. The waitress apologized to us and gave us a free key lime pie. The service really showed that they care about the customers and their overall dining experience, which I appreciated; 2) the fish and chips were amazing, probably best I've had in my life. It came with a side of garlic tartare sauce and a sample of beer Dishes that could be improved: - the crab stuffed cod was underwhelming. The crab topping was really fishy, and the cod underneath was overcooked. Very cool spot in Rino. If you like seafood you have to check it out! They have great HH that includes both food and drink specials. We had oysters, grilled artichoke, shrimp, and fish dip. The fish dip was my least favorite. Everything else was very tasty and fresh. There is outdoor and indoor seating. Our server was in training but was attentive. read more

First time at this restaurant while visiting Denver. Octopus is great! So tender and tasty along with the garnishings. Yellowtail Crudo is so refreshing paired with chips. And ofcourse oysters are so amazing as well. And it's all cook right infront of our table. Servers are so knowledgeable of the menu and pay attention to what your specific needs. Like I drop my table napkin and a new pair is given to me in a few minutes without me even asking for one. We went there the busiest time gladly someone cancelled there reservation and we were able to sit in 5 minutes. We choose table at the bar with a view of the kitchen and get to witness how they cook our orders. read more

This place was awesome. I'm already dreaming about my next time here! A group of friends and I went for happy hour and you can't beat the deal and freshness. We got a ton of the 2.50 raw and grilled oysters. The grilled oysters can't be missed - those were my favorite. The garlic and devil butter were both so delicious. We also tried the fish dip (good but not amazing), the fish n beer basket, and the mussels. The fried fish here is done exceptionally well - light batter and super crispy. I didn't try the actual mussels but I did try the sauce they came in and it was super spicy and rich. They have a ton of awesome options for drink specials as well. We ended with the Keylime pie because we had seen all the reviews about it previously. It was good but none of us thought it was the best one we've ever had. I also am not a huge Keylime fan in the first place but it was fun to try. The service was great - we never waited super long for anything and servers who weren't even with us stopped to pick up empty plates and cups. SO GOOD everything had the perfect amount of flavor and tasted crazy fresh! The service was also top notch. I loved my salmon and gnocchi dish so much I thought about it right when I woke up the next day hence this review because I can't stop thinking about it. I definitely want to try their raw oysters next time (grilled was tasty but my heart will always be with raw oysters) and other appetizers. 6/5 read more

First time at Fish N Beer and we went during restaurant week! The service was amazing. Our waitress was on top of it! They almost ran out of Key Lime Pie and she came over to us very quickly and asked if we wanted any slices--she saved the last two for us! It was very light and delicious. The atmosphere was very upbeat. They play great music and are all smiling and having fun! It's a smaller place but intimate and cool to watch the kitchen/bartender work. We tried the oysters (the garlic butter and devil butter, so good)! The fish dip was amazing. Would get it again just for the bread that's served with it. Fish and chips were very good as well. Huge serving! The Serrano margarita was a great cocktail. Would definitely come back here. read more

Wow! This place blew our socks off. While in town for a weekend, I found it on Yelp and knew right away we had to try it. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but wow it was impressive and quickly filled up when the doors opened at 5pm. I first went to Fish N Beer for 5280 Restaurant week and tried the Spanish octopus. I have been back twice since for that and the key lime pie. I love the ambiance and the friendly staff. It remind me a little of an Atlanta food scene vibe. I first tried grilled octopus in Atlanta actually. Great vibes in this RiNo restaurant. I've come here to decompress by myself in a tall booth. With a new local friend at the counter. With a date in the terrace area which felt like a kid's birthday party with Maryland vibes for some reason. Fun for any slightly special occasion. read more

Yelp says it's good for kids but I didn't see a kids menu. Do they have a kids menu? Are children welcome if they like seafood?
I don't agree that it is good for kids the menu is for a mature palette and I didn't see a kid selection on the menu.
What is the "devil butter"?
It is a spicy butter sauce that they use for different dishes.
Is it really busy should I make a reservation on a Thursday night?
I think it is a good idea to make a reservation. They seem pretty busy if you just show up. That said, you don't need to make a reservation far in advance. They are often available on short notice (even the day before).
