Chips & pico de gallo, hazy ipa

Tasty fish tacos & wraps. My wife thought their shrimp tacos were some of the best she's ever had. I had a wild-caught catch-of-the-day swordfish Coastal wrap which was also delicious. We added a side chips & pico de gallo & Hazy IPA - great lunch - so much better than fast food after hiking Annie's Trail. A bit pricier but fresh & high quality.

I have been going here for a while when down this way. This is a go-to spot to keep on your list for consistently tasty, fast (but not fast food), fresh food at a great value. Prices here beat out most other places you can go and you can walk out of here for a great meal for under $20. We like the fish tacos (huge and stuffed with fish and cabbage and stuff), salmon sandwich-tasty salmon filet with slaw of carrot, cucumber, lettuce and other tasty stuff, fish and chips (portion of two pieces is plenty for most people), fried shrimp is good too. Poke bowls are also a great choice. Haven't had a meal that I haven't been satisfied with here. Put this on you keeper list. It's a must visit.

Nice little casual joint located amidst a shopping center in Solana Beach. The menu is pretty good and the service is average. That said, the Mahi Burger and the fries here are amazing!

PLAZA EATS (3.5 stars) - FOOD: average - PRICE: fair - SERVICE: good - AMBIANCE: simple eatery with tables Located in a plaza in the sleepy neighborhood of Solano Beach is this little eatery serving up fried seafood. Not very busy but feel like the people that do come here are frequent flyers. BATTERED FISH - KIDS MEAL ($10.5) - Two fish pieces, served with a side/picked French fries, and a drink. What can I say? I eat like a bird. This meal was very filling that I had to pack half of it. It was plenty for a kids meal but I always wasn't devouring it because it was just okay-average. The batter on the fish tasted like plain fried donut (no seasoning and kind of cake-y flavor). The fries were crispy but plain. You do have to reply on the dips and condiments for flavor. I squirted lemon and tried both dipping sauces (dill dip which tasted like ranch and dill and tartar sauce; tartar sauce was a lot better). RECOMMEND CUP OF NEW ENGLAND CLAM CHOWDER ($7.5) - Clams, creme, potato, onion, carrot, celery. I was impressed with their clam chowder until after my meal I had the urgency to "drop the kids off at the poolside". It was hearty and creamy, not stringy on the clam meat, and full of flavor. Was it my favorite? it was good but I've had better. RECOMMEND (TUMS Recommended) Until the next review....

I looked at the menu before and knew I wanted the clam chowder and fish and chips on this chilly day. The place is a fast casual place. Plenty of seating, you can sit down and they have a QR menu and you can directly order from your seat. Very reasonable priced, the most expensive item on their menu is $16. The food was great, we ordered clam chowder cup with a Half tuna melt for an extra $6.50; and fish and chips. Would recommend this place, from the tartar sauce, the crispy exterior well seasoned soft on the inside fish and chips. The tuna melt wasn't super mayo-ish and bread was well toasted. They had a selection on non seafood items as well as wine/beer list.

For a local chain this location rocks. Right off the highway with easy access to the hiking trails. Some of the best and fish and chips that can be easily customized that one can get . The real surprise was the bowl of clam chowder. It looked small for a bowl and was not a good start but it was super packed with clams and minimal potatoes which a lot of places just cram it with. Sides were small but tasty. Can't complain about anything

I absolutely love this place! We used to have one in Orange County, but it unfortunately closed. My favorites are there fish tacos and fish and chips. They are fried to absolute perfection! The staff is always kind and their service is quick. This location is not too busy on the weekends too.Cant wait to be back!

We tried different marinades and various fish, but my hands-down favorites were the lobster tacos (lemon butter) and the red snapper (fish shop) tacos. We also ordered large sides. They do NOT skimp out on these. Massive onions rings and a large pile of fries. All were delicious! The kids liked their grilled cheese sandwiches. "Best grilled cheese besides the ones we make at home." Only downside on the food was the clam chowder. Good flavor but hardly any clams (if any). I wouldn't get that again, but everything else was phenomenal. I almost rated this down to a 4 because of this (and a small order mishap), but honestly, this place is worth a solid 5 based on the overall food, vibes, and staff. This place's vibes are super chill. You can either sit inside or out. Very clean all around! Well-maintained restrooms and tables too. Solid drink options - both alcoholic and non-alcoholic as well! Despite their over-the-phone assurance prior to that visit that a particular menu item, Crab Stuffed Tiger Shrimp, was available, it was not. I wrote a Yelp review describing our experience that day and quickly got a very nice message (I assumed from management) expressing their desire to make things right but that response was taken down in less than 24 hours before I had a chance to reply. Fast forward to a couple days ago, August 3rd. A much-cherished friend and I had to be in the Del Mar area on 8/3, so a week before, I called them and asked if the stuffed shrimp shown on their menu was available and, if so, were there any time restrictions. The person I spoke to stated that it was available and could be ordered any time we came in. I was so happy to hear that after not being able to get it at the IB location. When we went to the Del Mar location on 8/3 in the afternoon, I tried to order it and was told by the server, who was not at all friendly, that the kitchen was closed until 5:00pm and that we could only order off the Oyster Bar menu. Note that the online hours don't state that the "kitchen" hours are different than the "Oyster Bar" hours. Perhaps that explains why the woman over the phone stated that the stuffed shrimp can be ordered at any time. If this is true, I respectfully suggest they update the hours shown online. Quite disappointing that once again despite reassurances, I was not able to order my favorite thing on the menu that's always available at the La Mesa and downtown San Diego locations (regardless of the time) AND is also on the IB and Del Mar menus. Our server on 8/3 was not the least bit welcoming but everyone else was nice. He came by quickly enough upon us selecting our table but didn't bother to welcome us even or introduce himself and after 15-20 seconds of uncomfortable silence, he finally just asked if we wanted something. To his credit he did bring us what we ordered (except the shrimp of course!) fast enough but after that walked by our table many times and only stopped by once when we flagged him down and once after that to tell us he was leaving and that Gabby would be taking over....maybe hoping that we would close out right then so as not needing to share his tip with her. We were not done yet, so Gabby did take over and she was terrific; and quite a contrast to the original server whose name I never got. I'm a South County resident so not at all likely to return to the Del Mar Brigantine in the future especially knowing the shrimp might not be available. My final comments...and sorry for being so "wordy" here is that the doors facing the racetrack were wide open which let in the very warm and humid air so the ambiance was not comfortable. The restaurant itself is pleasantly clean and beautifully decorated.
