Came here on a Tuesday night to celebrate our Anniversary. Service was excellent. Ambience was great, although a little dark for me. I had to use my phone's flashlight to read the menu. We ordered sea bass, filet mignon, beet salad, baked potato, mushrooms & asparagus. Everything was delicious except the mushrooms as they were charred and burnt. Our server took it off our bill, which I appreciated. Citrus Martini was excellent. For our anniversary they brought us a free dessert that we asked to be boxed up to take home. It was a large chocolate bombe with chocolate moose inside. It was amazing! This is a high end restaurant with excellent food and service. I will return! read more

The restaurant is very elegant and well decorated. The steaks here are best in San Diego. We tried the bone in filet, ribeye, and Ny strip. All three steaks were seasoned perfectly and expertly grilled. We loved the seafood, appetizers and sides. This restaurant is one of the very best in all of San Diego. We loved it here! How could I not love this place? I enjoyed another birthday celebration here and it was amazing throughout. From the moment I walked up to the door, the valet team ran (not kidding) to open the door for me , where I was greeted by the friendly young ladies at the counter. Our table was ready but I wanted to wait for my cousin. She reserved a quiet chef's table (my favorite spot). Our waiter brought me a birthday card and we had the very best server assistant in the restaurant. I wish I could remember her name so I could acknowledge her specifically. She was one of the best I've seen there. She was very attentive and I appreciated her effort. We both had bone in rib eye steaks, corn brûlée, hasselback potatoes, and chopped salad. The steaks arrive on a sizzling platter so it continues to cook while on your table. I usually order medium rare and it's perfectly prepared. The sides were delicious but the salad wasn't one of my favorites. A lovely vanilla cake with ice cream was a great birthday presentation. This is a popular spot and gets very busy with people having a great time so it can be loud. If I could change one thing, it would be the music selection and volume. For such an elegant, fine-dining atmosphere, I felt the style and volume of the music didn't quite complement the overall experience. read more

It's definitely on the pricier side so I really only come here on business/for special occasions. Dinner for 5 was $1000+ for a cocktail, apps, dinner, sides + dessert. Food: 5/5 - highly recommend the chicken fried lobster tails to start. Can't go wrong with their filets (perfectly cooked medium rare), favorite sides include the au gratin + corn creme brûlée. Fave dessert is the warm vanilla caramel cake with ice cream. Service: 5/5 - reservations were easy (through OpenTable) and our table was ready as soon as we got in. Our server, Becky, was fantastic. The ambiance and service were easily the stars of the evening. Every staff member we interacted with was warm, attentive, and genuinely seemed invested in making sure we had a great experience. The hospitality alone made us feel well taken care of throughout the meal. The drinks and starters were absolutely *chef's kiss*--full of flavor and a great start to the evening. Unfortunately, the entrees didn't quite live up to that same standard. They were good, but ultimately a bit underwhelming and not especially memorable, particularly for the price. That said, I still enjoyed my overall experience and would absolutely return. The exceptional service and inviting atmosphere make it worth another visit, and I'd be interested in trying different entrée options next time. We celebrated our anniversary at Steak 48, and from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the experience was exceptional. We had a 9:00 PM reservation and ended up arriving about 10 minutes late, but we were still seated promptly. Valet parking was only $11 (plus tax), and the attendants were friendly and efficient. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with "Happy Anniversary!" and a handwritten note from the General Manager congratulating us on our celebration, which made the evening feel extra special. Our server, Victor, was fantastic. He congratulated us on our anniversary and provided attentive service all night. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but with their impressive wine selection, I wasn't sure what to order. Victor recommended a wine that paired perfectly with my meal, and I ended up really enjoying it. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful and elegant. Between courses, we were given warm lemon towels to refresh our hands, which was appreciated. We started with the Caesar salad, which featured a perfectly poached egg on top--a delicious twist on a classic. The crispy croutons were incredible. We also ordered the Chicken Fried Lobster Tails, and I have to say... they absolutely lived up to the hype. We have literally been thinking about them every day since our dinner! For our entrées, we ordered steak and salmon. The steak was cooked medium-well exactly as requested--perfectly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. It arrived on an incredibly hot plate that kept everything sizzling throughout the meal. We paired it with the mac & cheese, whipped mashed potatoes, and broccoli. Every side was delicious, especially the creamy mac & cheese. Even though we were completely stuffed, we couldn't pass up dessert. The Red Velvet Bread Pudding was amazing and the perfect ending to the meal. We couldn't finish it, but the staff happily boxed everything up for us to enjoy later. To top it all off, one of the staff members even offered to take our anniversary photo, so we were able to capture the memory without having to ask. I found the ambiance of the restaurant to be casual post golf gathering hangout/obligatory work dinner vibes. I was surprised at how casual it all felt given how formal the service itself is. Then we had oysters, shrimp cocktail, and half lb of crab legs which was enough for 2. Highly recommend the cold seafood options. The starters were far better than the entree and sides. Entrees: split 22oz ribeye, hasselback potatoes, shishitos. Had the peppercorn truffle sauce. The steak was very good, but no better than a steak an any other comparable steakhouse. The sides were fine, nothing special. I didn't want super heavy sides and these were fine. Sauce was quite nice with the steak. Dessert was complimentary and a very nice touch. Our server was excellent and it was a nice anniversary meal. I guess for a $500 dinner, I would hope for a better table and for the sauces to be boxed with the leftovers since both were essentially untouched. Steak 48 absolutely lived up to that calling as my wife and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary together. I booked a reservation 2 weeks out online. Steak 48 has a strict business casual dress code. From the moment we walked in, the service was fantastic from our hostess to busboy to waiter. We were treated like VIPs which really elevated the whole experience. The interior is immaculately classic with that "old money" subtle vibe. In addition to a world-class butchery, steak 48 also has a fantastic fresh seafood bar. As with any elevated dining experience, my philosophy and recommendation is always to order a wide variety of dishes and curate them in partnership with recommendations from our waiter. This experience was no different. My wife and I ordered the house bread, roasted Brussels sprouts, and hasselback potatoes for sides and appetizers. For mains we indulged in a dry aged prime bone-on rib eye, shrimp, and each ordered a lobster tail from the fresh seafood bar. Cocktails were also ordered. We ended with a complimentary anniversary dessert. The highlights were the dry aged rib eye and the lobster tail. It was a feast worthy of a king. I will most certainly be back to steak 48 to celebrate life's next milestone with my wonderful wife. We did self-parking for our first visit but I think I will use the VIP red carpet valet service at our next visit. Sometimes it's worth indulging to reward yourself for hard work. Tender potato with super crispy exterior. - Lou Lou's dessert (complimentary for our anniversary) was so good but we were soooooo full. We each ordered a drink, we also got the crispy shrimp, rolls, mac & cheese, hassle back potatoes and 2 types of wagyu. I thought the crispy shrimp was the highlight!!! The highlight for me was probably the best steak I have ever tried (it was priced that way) the special Snake River farm Wagyu Tomahawk.. the perfect mix of steak and fat you could ever eat. Cooked to perfection and sizzling hot. We ordered so many sides I am trying to remember my fav items .. hasselback potatoes (cream cheese sauce omg) sweet corn and the whipped potatoes (mashed potatoes) was amazing. Also the Caesar salad with poached egg another one of the best Caesars I have ever had. The mushrooms were ok. I also tried my wife's filet which was delicious but the Snake River steak was WOW! They don't normally include their delicious (complimentary) dinner rolls in a takeout order, but can add them on request. Food: DINNER ROLLS: *Delicious*. Carby goodness. STEAK: Everyone was very happy SEABASS: I don't eat meat, but I would not recommend the seabass. Very expensive. A giant hunk of fish - but (steakhouse style, I guess), there was absolutely no sauce on it and it tasted a bit fishy. Maybe I was supposed to pay another $6 for "chardonnay butter" in addition to $67 for the lonely piece of fish? I used some of the truffle butter that came with the Hasselback potatoes and then made it more palatable. POTATOES: We got --Hasselback ($19): extremely delicious. Very large. Came here for a work dinner and we had a wonderful time. The ambience was good and I liked how we could change the brightness of the lamps on the table as needed. They explained the menu and were familiar with everything and were able to answer all of our questions. They also checked in on us frequently and changed our plates in a timely manner. And for the star of the show, the food! We enjoyed a variety of the menu and did family style for our appetizers, sides, and desserts, which was amazing so we could try a little bit of everything. They started us off with complimentary bread which was nice. For appetizers, we started off with the seafood tower, which you can customize with oysters, crab, shrimp, and even lobsters. We opted out of the lobster but the oysters were fresh and delicious and the shrimp were huge. The cold bar is actually displayed towards the center of the restaurant which is a nice show of how fresh their seafood is. We also got the hamachi, torched scallops + caviar, A5 kobe "wine fed" ny strip, and wagyu beef tartare. All the appetizers we tried were delicious but I was blown away by the beef tartare. This was the best tartare I've ever had! For our main course, a majority of us got the ribeye cap, which was delicious and a lot bigger than I expected. I got it cooked medium rare and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Just enough salt and beautiful crust. We also got some lobster tails on the side. We got a lottt of sides and shared them. We tried the creamed spinach, mac and cheese, sautéed wild mushrooms, sautéed sweet corn, blistered shishito peppers, roasted brussels sprouts, crispy hasselback potatoes, boursin cheese whipped potatoes, chef daniel's au gratin potatoes, caesar salad, and broccoli. My favorite side was the sautéed mushrooms. I think the other sides were pretty good but nothing extraordinary. We finished the side with some desserts; we got the ultimate warm vanilla caramel cake and triple chocolate bombe. I liked the caramel cake the most. The contrast of the cold ice cream and warm cake made it so good. The candied pecans and whipped cream paired perfectly. I made a reservation on OpenTable for 2 and noted that it was a special occasion. After arriving and self-parking, we were quickly shown to our table. Once seated, the hostess passed me an envelope with a sweet card from the GM congratulating us on our special milestone. I got a refreshing lychee mocktail. All the food was fabulous. We started with their hanging bacon and their complimentary bread rolls. The hanging bacon slices were thick, beautifully presented, and delicious. We also got the scallop entree for an appetizer. It came with 6 huge, tender, perfectly cooked and seasoned scallops and an extraordinarily delightful sauce. I held onto the sauce for my steak! We each got a steak- petite filet mignon medium rare for me, and bone-in ribeye rare for my husband. They were cooked exactly as we ordered and absolutely scrumptious. At the end we got the Triple Chocolate Bomb which was rich, decadent, and gorgeous. It also came with a very personal touch - a note written in Chocolate on the plate! Incredible attention to detail for each guest. Service was extremely attentive. Our water glasses were refilled frequently! They paced the courses well and did not make us feel rushed. Lighting was dim but each table's light could be brightened for menu browsing. A couple of additional delighters-- the toilets automatically open their lids when you are there, they auto-flush, and their lids auto-close. I love the high tech and very clean bathroom. This was my second time visiting Steak 48 and sitting at the bar. The service was very good as it was before. We ordered the wedge salad which is absolutely delicious, organic New York steak - which was aweful and not edible (my mistake was not sending it back) it was so tough that I almost couldn't cut it. It was ordered rare and came medium (again my bad for not sending it back but we were hungry and didn't want to wait. We also ordered the loaded baked potato which was very good but $20 for a baked potato better be good. So disappointed since the food is on the expensive side. We won't be going back again. I was really surprised with Steak 48. I thought it would just be an "all ambience" restaurant where the atmosphere is there but the food isn't. Their service is quality as is their food. We ordered the 22oz dry aged bone in Ribeye, Fried Lobster, Lobster Escargot, and the Crispy Hasselback Potatoes. The Ribeye was cooked perfectly and had a nice crust to it. We were seated in a private booth section which we loved. Jared was our server and he was very professional and helpful. We ordered bone-in ribeye, upgraded from 3oz to 8oz Kobe, chicken fried lobster rolls, crispy potatoes, shell and cheese, au gratin potatoes, the red velvet bread pudding, and vanilla ice cream and caramel cake. I wanted to add, the complimentary bread is DELICIOUS. I've never had bread like it before. I loved how juicy my ribeye was, and I enjoyed the uniqueness of the chicken fried lobster roll. We enjoyed how private, clean and high tech the bathrooms were as well, they definitely say a lot about a restaurant. We received personally written cards for the 2 occasions we were celebrating along with writing on our dessert plates which was so kind. Parking is not an issue since it is in a large plaza. My fiancé and I decided to go here to celebrate our engagement last night. We were excited because we'd heard good things about it. The restaurant was beautiful but didn't meet my expectations. The food was good but I've had better so I don't think it was worth the price. My fiancé ordered his steak medium rare but it looked rare. I ordered the sea bass which was good but I've had better. The sides were good but I've had equally good au gratin potatoes and Brussels sprouts at other restaurants. The complimentary bread reminded me too much of the crescent rolls you buy at the store which I'm not a big fan of. Half way through eating I started to feel sick to my stomach. I don't have any food restrictions or allergies. I eat everything so for me to not feel well after eating half of my food I was shocked. I still feel sick to my stomach. The drinks were good and the only thing that is worth the price. If you decide to go I'd recommend just going to the bar for drinks. They don't offer complimentary desserts for celebrations. I thought for the price we paid they would've given us something small for our engagement celebration especially because they asked us if we were celebrating something. Arman!!!! Wow- he was made for this job. You can tell he takes so much pride in what he does. I loved his enthusiasm for the menu- the restaurant, the food- so refreshing. A gem of a human and a server!! As a former fine dining service myself (and picky eater) I can't say enough good things about him. I hope his management team knows what an asset he is. As for the food- wow. Hubby and I shared the Superfopd salad and it was SO GOOD! For our main, Hubby had the grass fed 12 ounce New York strip and I had Chilean Seabas. We shared the au gratin potatoes. Wow. Everything was cooked to perfection and we. Were. Stuffed! But- of course we had to order dessert (why!?? Because it all sounded too good!). I had the triple chocolate Bombe and hubby had the key lime pie (think cheesecake-texture). I mean- I couldn't stop eating my dessert even tho I wa stuffed. It's embarrassing to admit- but Ray had me at toasted marshmallows and a hard chocolate shell (insert happy cry emoji here). All in all I get why this place is priced the way it is. Really enjoyed our New Year's Eve meal here! To be upfront, the steak and cocktails blew away the sides and appetizers, but overall everything tasted great. Service was attentive, and the ambience is lively with pop music and plenty of chatter. Bone-in ribeye: 22 oz giant steak came to us on a sizzling hot plate! It was incredibly flavorful and tender with a great smoky sear, cooked perfectly at medium rare. It was on the saltier side so definitely suggest pairing with a side dish like the mac n cheese. Crispy Shrimp Deviled Eggs: my favorite appetizer!! 6 small deviled eggs with creamy yolk topped with crispy delicious shrimp and a parm chip Chef's Hanging Bacon: the presentation is a lot of fun, but definitely heavy and filling to eat for two people-- 4 candied bacon slices (quarter inch thick). I could barely touch my steak after since I was so full. Oysters: we paid $5 per oyster, decently sized and fresh. They came with 5 different sauces and mini tabasco sauces. Mac n Cheese: Came to us piping hot, topped with breadcrumbs and herbs. It was pretty bland in taste but balanced the salty steak well. Service as always is stellar and a high end experience from start to finish. This was a work dinner with 12 people. Appetizers and sides were ordered family-style, with two of each for the table. I ordered the 45-day dry-aged bone-in ribeye (22 oz, $154) with a butter-poached Alaskan king crab leg meat add-on. If I could do this everytime I would. The butter soaked into my steak so beautifully, and I actually pushed the crab to the side so I could eat it at my own pace with my whole plate. Family-style appetizers included crispy shrimp ($31), tomato and Alaskan king crab stack ($48), hanging bacon ($29), and (not pictured) Pacific yellowtail hamachi ($39). The shrimp was so good, 10/10 recommend as well as the hamachi. Bacon didn't do it for me, wasn't really a fan. The stack was delicious and it actually felt like a palette cleanser. Family-style sides included roasted Brussels sprouts ($19), crème brûlée corn ($21), shishito peppers ($16), and Alaskan king crab mashed potatoes ($52). The crème brûlée corn always slaps, 10/10. Shishito peppers were a knew side for me they were good and I wish I had took more home. Mashed potatoes were good but I actually don't think the needed the crab. I liked the au gratin potatoes more. I had a non-alcoholic passion fruit margarita ($16). Super tasty but I'm sure it's better with liquor I just don't like to do that while on the clock and needing to drive home. For dessert, I tasted the triple chocolate bombe ($19), red velvet bread pudding ($18), and ultimate caramel cake ($22). Came here to celebrate our anniversary, and it's truly a wonderful place for a special occasion--especially if you love a great steak and don't mind splurging. Even on a Monday night in early January, the restaurant was completely full by the end of the evening, which says a lot. There's a beautiful area near the kitchen with private tables enclosed by glass walls. If we return, we'll definitely request seating there. This was our second visit, and while the service was still very good, it felt a bit less over-the-top than our first time--possibly because a server was being trained. One last thing that absolutely deserves a mention: the bathroom. Heated seats and a bidet. Unexpected, but impressive. read more

We were fortunate to have been able to make a reservation 15 minutes before we showed up and things got crazy New Year's Eve. We were seated within 5 minutes and wow! The restaurant is very nice and everyone workin was well dressed, professional and polite. We were seated toward the back in a quieter area with lower light but the lamp on the table brightens and dims. Our servers were Ian and Jayden (hopefully I've spelled their names correctly!) and they made our dining experience so special that we talked with the GM after to give them kudos. The food was delicious. I wasn't too hungry at the time so I got their beet salad and Brussels sprouts and samples some friends' appetizers. We ordered some desserts and wow, so fancy. OMG I think I'm still high from dinner. The entire meal felt like a dream. First and foremost, Jacob and the entire team were incredible. The attentiveness and hospitality made this place a 100/10!!! It was my first time here with my favorite family and friends and we ordered so much! The steaks were just unreal and cooked to perfection. We had the 18 oz bone in filet mignon and it was so tender! Tendernism! My favorite was the kc bone in steak. It had some fat and was very meaty. You'll have to try their peppercorn sauce, it was like a nice gravy. The sides and appetizers were all amazing as well. Get the sweet corn, roasted broccoli, fried lobster and fried shrimp! From the service to the food, everything delivered. We came in for a birthday celebration with friends. The restaurant wasn't able to accommodate a table for 8 so we split our reservation into 2 tables of 4. The manager Justin was kind enough to allow our kids to sit at a table near us and combine the checks. It was a very elegant meal for us and the kids! Ha! Huge thanks for allowing us to have a beautiful dinner for our birthday celebration with kids. The staff were so wonderful and they make the best Tequila Sours and Gin Sours!!! They brought bread with butter to the table to start which was the most mouth watering bread I've ever had. I don't usually eat the bread baskets but I made an exception here. For starters we had the Hamachi Crudo, Burrata and fries. The blue cheese aoli was very good, I want to take some home! For mains we ordered the Australian Wagyu Filet Mignon with broccoli, creme brûlée creamed corn and spinach artichoke side. I highly recommend the creamed corn! That was so yummy with the steak! Steak 48 is amazing! Celebrated an anniversary dinner here and the service was great. The waitress was attentive, friendly, and ready to go with recommendations and anything we needed. We really felt taken care of here. The food: - Complimentary bread rolls (think biscuits cooked in a skillet with butter). - Rhode Island Calamari & shrimp - 10/10. When friends from out of town invited me to Steak 48, I balked a bit at their choice because I am not a meat eater. Having just come from there, I must say, I'm glad I accepted the invitation! We ordered salads and appetizer sampling the wedge & beet salads, crispy shrimp, chix fried lobster, lobster escargot, roasted potatoes and freshly baked bread. Each dish more delicious than the next! Service with a smile from every direction. Lighting is a bit dark for older clients like us so it was good that I had savored the menu offerings online before going. We were too full for dessert but freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for each of us was the parting gift from our server (who has been with the company since the beginning at the Del Mar location). Steak 48 was so much more than Steak! Too bad it wasn't here 40 years ago when I stopped consuming red meat...I am sure it's tops in that regard, too! read more
