I wish we read the reviews before going to this place instead of just going off of a friends recommendation. We got 2 combos, fish, rice, and a side. The fish was decent although the garlic sauce was way too overpowering and we could barely taste the fish. Also the "mahi mahi" was white and we are used to mahi being on the reddish side so we were're sure we got mahi. The rice was tasteless and the steamed veggies also had no flavor. Why don't restaurants season their food anymore ? The only thing decent and worth mentioning was the coleslaw and the garlic bread. All in all 2 stars and I'm being generous. The place has enough chopping and frying going on that a 1 yr old babbling doesn't disturb people. The large flat screen TV often features sports. There's seating outside, shared with the sushi joint next door. Bathrooms are fine. It's a bit hard pulling the highchairs apart when they're stacked. The salsa bar features jalapenos, hot and mild salsas. Fountain drink bar. You can get a cup for water if you'd like. Parking is ok. Don't approach going north on N. J and E take me to some places I'd never otherwise enter. Now I'm hooked on Menchie's, for example (haters, zip it), and they clued me in to this airport strip-mall mecca o' fish. Think upscale Long John Silvers, but soooooo many more choices. You pick a fish (some I had never heard of! Me!), you pick a side, and you choose fried or grilled, cajun style or garlic butter (I think). It's kinda like The Counter or even Subway, but you pick at the cash register. Then you get a receipt (I auto-crumple and had to uncrumple), and sit and wait for your number to be called. Then you wave your hand like mad, and the nice people bring it to you. There's a salsa bar-like thing, and you can go dress your food. My friends are regulars, so they get the plate of grilled Mahi, cajun style, with white rice. They cut it up and mix it up. Last night we had shrimp tacos and mahi tacos. It was good. Really good. It was like $8 and HUGE. Happy! Cabbage not lettuce = correct for a fish taco. Correct! I'm a stickler for correctitude! Four not five stars: mahi taco was dry. Dry dry dry. I'm sure they would have given me more of the aioli dressing stuff that they dress the tacos with, but it wouldn't have helped, because the fish itself was dry. It was fresh, don't get me wrong, but believe it or not, it was too big to be prepared much moister, I think, without being poached or something. Maybe just overcooked. The masses would not be happy with undercooked. To be honest, I don't know how I would have solved this. It was a big piece of fresh fish in a taco, and it was dry. The dressing, cabbage, shrimp ... everything was stellar. The doubled corn tortillas were fresh-ish too, and they didn't help the dry factor. But do go! Go! Check it out. For the price, the variety (fish choices change daily, I guess, except the staples), and the personalization options, you can't do better for fast food. read more

And I hope others notice this and hopefully the owner will see this review. Maybe have the cashier trained with customer service training or a warning. Let me preface this by saying that I am borderline obsessed with Fish Dish in Sherman Oaks. So, I was stoked to see one over here because I am frequently at the Burbank Airport. Too bad it doesn't measure up to the other location AT ALL. First of all, the employees are not very friendly or helpful (it is the exact opposite in S.O.). It feels very rushed. Their system of delivering the orders SUCKS. They basically give you a number on paper and then wander around the seating area yelling your number. At that point you can either wave them down or chase them down. What kind of sense does that make?! There does not seem to be any managerial presence either. On to the food: I ordered the charbroiled shrimp (something I typically get at the other location). Much to my surprise, it came butterflied (as expected) but the shell was left entirely on. Let me tell you... trying to peel the shell off the back of a seasoned, hot, charbroiled and butterflied shrimp is pretty miserable. I understand some people eat the shell but this isn't typical. I was so bummed! I wound up with all kinds of nastiness under my nails. When I asked the "waitress" about the shell she just said "yep that's how we do it." And said nothing else and walked away. Came here yesterday afternoon with my wife after landing at the airport. It was already around 3pm or so and we were very hungry not having eaten any lunch so we were desperate! We decided to give fish dish another try! Been here before. Service is usually hit or miss and at times you aren't greeted with a Hello or Welcome. Sometimes standing there until the cashier notices you and comes up and asks what you'd like to order. It can be a little confusing for customers when walking in if its not crazy busy and you aren't noticed. Do we just wait? If we are in a rush running on time with a colleague do we just lose confidence and settle for the panda or del taco down the street? Service and food quality is everything when eating at a place. Luckily me and my wife had a really good experience this time. Upon walking in our cashier greeted us with the biggest smile and helped us decide what to eat. She was attentive with a friendly attitude despite how difficult we were probably being with ordering. She was by herself at the counter so she also brought our food out to us and anything else we asked. I guess that's where the tip comes in! They have a pretty simple menu but still with many options to choose from ranging from tacos and burritos to grilled plates and even pasta! We had the tacos and one fish plate and it did not disappoint. They also have a bar with red and green salsa and other condiments like cocktail and tartar sauce. It took over 40 minutes for my order, and everyone that came in after me had theirs... They threw in a free clam chowder which I don't eat... Oh well... the food is good here, very healthy. the cashier was awesome and speedy and accurate for our take out order. the girl packing our fish dishes was so slow, taking her time, doing one order at a time instead of lining them up, ug! it took her 20 min to pack three meals. she was putting one item in so slowly, napkin, fork, filling sauces, bagging it then filling another for the same bag..... one at a time zzzzzz The food for the other two orders were sitting in the pass forever... This place is good however I can't continue to come here.. The past two times I have watched the cooks preparing my food as the have a open kitchen. The handle raw chicken with same gloves they touch your food with. They wear gloves but never seem to change them. What a refreshing change! Good spot for lunch near my office. Had the cod fish and chips. The fish was very light and flaky, not fishy at all, and was delicious. Loved the fries, too. I really like that neither the fish nor fries were oily. I wasn't impressed by the cole slaw, however...way too many raisins! I'm talking more raisins than cabbage (actually they could just do away with the raisins and save on cost). Also, way too much black pepper. A lovely cashier named Brenda attended me today and she was super sweet to me despite the fact that there was a rush in the restaurant.
