Fish Cheeks is always a vibe I love the colorful aesthetic and lively atmosphere. Last night, I ordered two of my go-to favorites: the Manila clams with sweet basil and the coconut crab curry, along with the Tongue & Cheek cocktail. The flavors in the Manila clams were still a 10/10, but I was disappointed by the portion this time. I had more empty shells in my bowl than clams with meat! I'm not usually one to complain, but I honestly should have said something. The coconut crab curry, however, knocked it out of the park as always. The flavor is out of this world, and the succulent lumps of crabmeat practically melt in your mouth. Pro tip: If you order both dishes, mix a little of the sweet basil clam sauce into the coconut crab curry. The combination is incredible! The Tongue & Cheek cocktail was divine mildly sweet, refreshing, and incredibly smooth, with a velvety texture from the egg white. Service was mixed this particular evening. The host came across as a bit rude and seemed to have an attitude, but thankfully, my bartender was attentive, knowledgeable, and accommodating throughout the night. Despite a couple of misses, Fish Cheeks remains one of my favorites for its bold flavors, beautiful atmosphere, and consistently unforgettable coconut crab curry.
What an incredible Thai experience. This was our first time and definitely cannot wait to go back. The service was amazing and the dishes we ordered were like none other. The crab noodles were amazing alongside the pork salad we had. We cannot wait to try their other items!
Great spot for seafood forward Thai food. Came here on a Sunday for lunch with a reservation - they open at 12p so everyone was already waiting outside for doors to open. People were seated quickly with a few walk ins waiting outside but the space is big. We got the wings, coconut crab curry, crab fried rice, and whiting fish summer seasonal item. Everything comes out when it's ready and is shared family style. The wings were crispy and zesty, curry had a good kick to it although a small serving and the crab fried rice was delicious. The fish was also very fresh. Highly recommend this spot!
It's shameful it's taken me so long to eat at Fish Cheeks. Thai is one of my favorite cuisines, and Fish Cheeks is one of those restaurants that reminds you why. I'd be pressed to find better Thai food in Thailand. As the name implies, this menu is seafood centric with a few pork options. We ordered the pork jowls, larb, mussels, crab fried rice, crab glass noodles, crab curry (sorry, we love crab). Larb, so good. Loved the crispy pork and sausage with cabbage wrap. The bbqed mussels had incredible flavor with a tasty curry dipping sauce. Jowl was tender, fatty, with a fresh fish sauce. Crab fried rice, excellent. Crab curry, very tasty. Crab glass noodles, sooooo good - must order! Overall Fish Cheeks is everything and more. I can see why this restaurant has remained so popular since opening years ago. Five stars!
Came here during their dinner service and thought that it was great. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and the space is pretty contemporary with inspiration from the sea and ocean. Although the host was a bit rude, our server, Griffin, was absolutely amazing and the sweetest. Their menu draws inspiration from lots of seafood and has fewer options in comparison to many other Thai spots in the city. We got their crispy rice salad with pork and their coconut crab curry to share. I would say that they do not hold back on their spice here. Plenty of flavors and so fresh. Portions are a bit on the smaller side, and it's definitely a bit on the pricier side. Although it was nice to try and pretty good, I think there are other Thai spots in the city that I prefer.
Came here on a saturday at noon with a reservation for 3, and still needed to wait in line for a little while. However, once we were seated, the staff were very timely and attentive. The restaurant was very bright and colorful with lots of natural lighting, and wasn't too loud. We decided to order the selection for two, selection 1. Despite the name, it was a lot of food even for three of us. Our favorite was definitely the whole steamed fish. The fish was delicately cooked, and I really enjoyed the herbs and lime in the broth. I also really enjoyed the zaab wings, which had great spice and crunch. The crab fried rice paired very well with the sauces too. I found the other two dishes less memorable. The duck curry was a little oily and sweet, and the duck was a bit tough, so that was our least favorite dish.
I remember when Manhattan's Thai food scene was as bad as it's Mexican food scene. But Fish Cheeks was incredible, aside from having to ask for a bowl of rice three times. TONGUE & CHEEK: 5/5. The soft egg white, the sweet lychee, the nutty toasted sesame. Yes. SOM TUM CORN SALAD: 5/5. Sweet, tangy, spicy, crunchy, fresh. This dish made me understand corn. RAAWAENG DUCK CURRY: 5/5. Name a duo more iconic than lemongrass and coconut. I'll wait. The duck was perfectly pink, juicy, and tender. 30 DAY DRY AGED BEEF KRAPOW: 5/5. I could taste the char. Smoky, savory, salty. The fried duck egg on top is obviously not optional. STEAMED BRANZINO: 5/5. When I tell you every. Single. Table. Had this. The fish was silky. The broth was zesty. It fixed problems I didn't know I had. I have high standards and bad memory (which is why I write these reviews), but I will remember the late lunch I had with my besties here forever.
More of a 4.5 than a true 5 but the food was excellent so giving it a 5 here. Spice level is no joke, we had runny noses and the sweats from the two-chili-pepper dishes that we ordered, haha. I'm a little sad all the whole fish dishes were too cilantro-forward for me (a cilantro hater) to try, but the pad kra pao and the crab curry were excellent. Morning glory side was also delicious. Our favorite of the night was definitely the pork cheek starter though, so tender, juicy, and flavorful - a must order for sure. Complementary shrimp chips were pretty stale unfortunately, so that's something that could be improved upon. Portions are quite big! We took leftovers home for lunch during the week. Service was attentive, would love to come back with a larger group some time to try more things on the menu.
Dropped by for a quick lunch with my friend upon their recommendation since we were In the area and fish cheeks did not disappoint. We ordered the somtum corn salad, grilled pork cheeks, and the coconut crab curry. The latter of the two stuck out most to me not only for the cook but also the flavor. The pork was tender and paired with their sauce and the coconut crab curry was rich and buttery and came with a good portion of crab. I'd definitely recommend if you're in the area and even more so during their happy hour
The food was delicious but not in the mindblowing way that other reviews seem to rave about. My party of 3 ordered the shrimp in 3 crab sauce (raw marinated shrimp), grilled pork cheeks, crab coconut curry, crab vermicelli noodles, and steamed whole fish. The server highly recommended we order another appetizer, since they suggest 1 app and 1 entree per person given their smaller portion sizes, but we had just come from afternoon tea so we didn't need the full size meal. The two crab dishes we ordered, sadly, did not taste much like crab. The texture was fresh and all good there, but I could only taste the curry and the noodle sauce in both dishes. Granted, the flavors were good, just not crabby. The grilled pork cheek was delectable and possibly my favorite dish there, in competition with the raw shrimp which had a sauce so good I was scooping it off the plate with my spoon. The steamed fish was deboned(!) and perfectly tender, bathed in a super savory herby sauce. Surprisingly, despite being a huge crab fan, the two crab dishes were my least favorite. The restaurant itself was adorable! Bright colors everywhere, with accompanying brightly colored dishes. It was huge inside so you could easily bring a larger party, but beware the wait time because this place is popular. Definitely make a reservation if possible. Here you can find unique menu items that specialize in seafood, so if you're looking for thai food beyond your usual pad thai order, come try Fish Cheeks.
if you love spices and seafood, look no further than Fish Cheeks, an authentic Thai restaurant that specializes in seafood and Thai street food. This restaurant amazed me in the way the menu was set up, and I was able to explore the histories as well as indulge in the cultured ambiance and little bites. The wings were mild with a little kick while the steamed fish was addicting and flavorful with lime, and the warm hearty soup. I would go back again to try out all other options!!
Came in for lunch at 12:30pm on a weekday reservation, there was no wait time for us but we did notice a line forming by the end of our meal. We shared the Steamed Branzino and Coconut Crab Curry with an additional rice bowl between 3 people, and it was enough to fill us for lunch. The steamed branzino's fish sauce, lime, and spice flavor combination was perfect and the texture was so soft. The coconut crab curry was amazing too, it wasn't fishy or heavy as some curries can be. All of this with rice rounded out the meal. I'm still thinking about it days later - I would definitely come back and try the other dishes!

She got here first and grabbed a table for the three of us. The HH isn't bad. The cocktails were a little weak for me - very sweet and juicy, so I switched to bubbles afterwards. Food wise, I was pescatarian at the time, so only tried a few items. The oysters were standard, tho I find it weird they charge you for hot sauce. I'm guessing that was the $1.50 charge listed above since they gave us peppers instead. The prawns were crispy and had good flavor. Service was fine. Our server was attentive and friendly. It was earlier on a weekday and rainy, so the vibe was very chill. The space is very colorful as well. Going to the restroom is like playing roulette. Worth the wait Didn't have a reservation and we were seated within 30 minutes at the bar The ambience is floral and cute with plenty of tables and a nice bar for seating as well The service was great, and our glasses were always full (we go the spicy items so it was much appreciated) Food. Absolutely outstanding. Worth the hype. Best thing we had were the scallops - the curry paste was savory and elevated this dish. ITS A MUST ORDER The mussels were grilled and served on a chopstick with a delicious curry glaze on top. Unique way of eating them and it was a great way to start the meal. Next favorite was the coconut crab curry (scallop, curry paste edges it out) We also love the shrimp special- entire shrimps coated in a sweet spicy sauce, and you could eat both the head and the tail. Fish Cheeks has been on my restaurant list for a while so very excited to have finally tried it. The restaurant itself is super cute. There's really nice decor throughout and a lot of seating options on both sides. I love the little fish scale details as well. Me and my friend both enjoyed our cocktails, and I believe mine was called tongue and cheek. We started with the zabb wings which came highly recommended and they did not disappoint. The dry rub is delicious. We also had the corn salad which was a good side and some oysters of course. For the main course we shared the steamed fish and fried pork belly. Both were big portions and enough to share. The steamed branzino came literally steaming to the table and it was really good. The friend pork belly might've been my favorite and had a nice spicy kick to it with that crunch that I love for pork belly. Overall, will come back for sure. read more
Expensive but VERY good, my favorite was the crab coconut curry. The steamed fish is a classic, sooo tender. The inside feels very elevated and elegant, with beautiful, large windows. The staff are very kind, and the food arrived very quickly. read more
The zabb wings and the crab fried rice were very good. As well as the steamed fish! Everything was well seasoned and had a burst in flavor. There were also good non alcoholic options. The only con was that there are only two restrooms in the entire restaurant? There was always a line and that's a bit too uncomfortable for me. read more

We came here unexpectedly with friends. They booked an extremely last minute reservation just 15 mins before arriving, found on Beli. They just told us we had to leave the table by a certain time for the next reservation, and it was at least 1.5 hours time, completely fine with us. I love when restaurant hosts give us that option. The place was packed, so glad we made it in. Very pleasantly surprised how good the food was! We got drinks to start, which were particular good and strong. Favorites were the Punch Drunk Love, Panang Negroni, and the Ya Dong Party Shot. The shot was good, came with this pandan chaser, mango bites, and totally worth it in my opinion for $10. For the record, they have daily happy hour from 12-5pm which we unfortunately missed. Dishes shared were the: Crab fried rice - this was incredible. The rice was nice and greasy, full of crab flavor and had this side fish sauce with chilis. I would highly recommend you spooning that sauce all over the rice to enhance the flavor. Steamed fish with Thai Herbs - wow! Huge wow!!!! The favorite dish of the night. The steamed branzino was good perfectly, very soft. It went wonderfully with the Thai herbs - chili, lime and cilantro- I could put that sauce over everything. I was eating it by itself with rice, no shame there. The fish was also served over heat, so it kept warm the entire time we ate it. Prawn Karee - tiger prawn with curry powder - delicious! This was another great dish with the sauce that was truly irresistible. It was very pungent and slightly spicy, lots of fish sauce in a good way. I kept eating it by itself. Coconut Crab curry - pretty good, probably my least favorite but just because everything else was so stellar. This dish is quite spicy though, probably like an 8/10 with a late heat. Really good though. Overall the service was great too. Food came out quickly, and hot. My only sadness is that this restaurant is so far away from me. Loved it so much, would highly rec for someone wanting casual Thai food and or cocktails! All the flavors were very delicious. read more
Every dish was excellent. Crab curry was probably the best thing to highlight here. Crab fried rice was also great. Good wok aroma. Chinese people would know what that means. Wow I thought I had truly tried top tier Thai food in the city, but...Fish Cheeks you are the exception and a Thai restaurant I would cosign for. Passing by, before seeing the namesake, I thought this was an Aussie restaurant given the lighting. The aesthetic / decor / people / food-everything is just thoughtful to the tee. We ordered: Mama Tom Yum Steamed Fish with Thai Herbs I appreciate that the menu is majority seafood and a nice variety of veggies / meat. Would not recommend playing it safe and simply ordering crab fried rice / curry because you can always order that elsewhere. Only gripes are that given the price points, (i) why doesn't the steamed fish come with a side of rice? (ii) there should be serving utensils accompanied with the dishes since the vibe is family style, or that option should at least be offered Nonetheless, make that reservation and the happy hour time range / pricing is exceptional to others that make it two hours and offer little to no range. read more
Fish Cheeks was on my list of to try spots in NYC, and it didn't disappoint! My favorite dish was the whole steamed branzino with herbs - if you love sour food this is for you. The broth is soo yummy and I loved how the fish was deboned already! The coconut crab curry and crispy rice salad were both delicious and definitely on the spicier side!! I made a reservation 1 month in advance because this spot is pretty popular and for good reason. I'm typically not big on Thai cuisine but dang did this slap. We ordered the crab fried rice and duck curry. Crab fried rice: 5/5 amazing, I have no notes on this. They use quality fresh crab meat, and it's paired with fish sauce and a cilantro sauce. I mixed in some of the duck curry with the rice which was phenomenal. Duck curry: 4.5/5, also delicious. The duck was tender and melted in my mouth. It sits in a wonderful curry that tastes balanced. This was my first time in New York and with food allergies it's always hard traveling and foodie things. My boyfriend wanted to take me to a really good Thai restaurant so we found this one in their downtown area. Perhaps I'm wrong. We went to so many places during the day, I kind of got lost.... So please excuse me if the location is wrong. Never done less we were able to get a table without a reservation, but it took about two hours on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated around 8p.- 1 hour timed dinner. I was really worried our server wasn't going to come back with a menu that I could eat in time because she had to go ask her executive chef what I could eat since some of their dishes contained MSG in the marinade. About 10 minutes later we had our drinks and the menu I could order from. I was sad that three of the main dishes I wanted to get all had mono sodium glycinate/MSG pre-marinated in the sauce. Nevertheless, we ended up ordering five different dishes, all pictured. Ink squid calamari Tom som corn salad Mussel gorlae Steamed fish with Thai Basil herbs (has MSG) Choo Chee scallops Grilled mackerel Coconut crab curry Each dish had a different flavor and spice to it! Such a different array of foods and flavors I couldn't really decide which was my favorite since they were also different and unique! Everything tasted delicious and we got some leftovers also! Hee The seating was very casual, ambient lighting, with a 60 minute cutoff for dinner! Lol I guess that's just how New Yorkers go about eating. Lol I forgot to time our dinner, but I guess we are in and out in 60 minutes? Lol the lychee mixed Lacore cocktail I had was delicious and my boyfriend loved his whiskey cocktail as well! I would love to give this restaurant 5 stars- but I can't since they cook with MSG! Ughhhh. I would love to come back here, but I know which dishes I could get now so I would just order the six dishes above again. Fish cheeks is top two Thai spots in Manhattan for me for the steamed fish alone. I swear they put crack in it or something. We ordered the corn salad, the pork cheeks, the coconut crab curry, the wings, and the steamed fish. - Corn Salad: classic and so delicious! I haven't found a corn salad since I've been to Thailand so I was so excited to eat this one - Pork Cheeks: tangy and perfectly cooked - really good but small for the price - Wings: crispy and coated in a sweet and savory seasoning. This is one I think you could skip because in my opinion, it wasn't standout. - Coconut Crab Curry: creamy, slow hitting spicy flavor, and lots of crab meat. Overall really delicious - Steamed fish: unbelievable. The fish is so soft and juicy. It's covered in a citrus, cilantro, savory sauce that pairs so well with the fish. I honestly wish we got two of these. The service is fine with servers filling drinks quickly and providing good recommendations. The ambiance is decent - not too noisy but the tables are fairly close together. Overall I will continue coming back for the steamed fish and to try other dishes on the menu! read more
The food here was excellent! I ordered the Mussels Gorlae, Corn Salad, Green Vegetable Curry, Steamed Fish, Prawn Karee, Jasmine Rice and Butterfly Limade. The filleted branzino, steamed with a tangy lime sauce was delicious, so much so that we forgot to add the container of condiments (cilantro, hot peppers and lemon slices)! The prawn karee had big juicy whole prawns in eggy, peppery, tomato based goodness. The mussels were grilled little tasty morsels of fishy flavor. Again, we didn't bother with the included sauce so as to not soften the delightful crispness of the mussels and shallots. The green curry vegetables on top of the fluffy, still warm jasmine rice was a decadent side dish. The corn salad was fresh with big chunks of corn and a nice fish sauce based dressing. The limade was refreshing with just the right amount of acidity but not too much. A really fine meal...will definitely order again. Very neatly packed and fast delivery. Highly recommended. read more

I feel like I've said this very recently, but NYC is crushing Thai food lately. Fish Cheeks isn't new by any means, but it's new to me and I'm the only thing that matters. We were wandering by and hungry, and the nice hostess out front told us they could have a table ready in five minutes. We sat down in the airy, bright room, and an even more personable server found out it was our first time and told us all about the menu. She told us that the crab curry was excellent and their best seller, but she thought the Rawaaeng Duck Curry was equally delicious and more interesting, and that the Mussel Gorlae was a standout as well. We took her up on these recommendations, and added the somtum corn salad. Everything was stunningly presented, and so, so tasty. The duck curry was a combination of the leg confit and the seared breast nestled in the rich curry, and it was outstanding. The mussels were skewered lengthwise, grilled, brushed with a spicy glaze and finished with crispy shallots and a peanut dipping sauce. It was unlike anything I've had before in the best of ways. The corn salad was a fresh pop of color and heat, and the lime cut through the heaviness of the other dishes. All in all, an outstanding lunch that I would happily eat again anytime. read more

The first time I went to Fish Cheeks was before the pandemic and I remember loving the crab curry but not much else. I just went back again and I loved every dish!!!!! So kudos Fish Cheeks for getting better with age. The only reservations available for three people on a weeknight were at 5:15pm and then after 9pm so you can see how popular this place is. I was shocked to see they expanded the restaurant since I last came -- it looks great! The servers were all nice and the food came out quickly. I loved all our dishes but especially the steamed fish. We also ordered: - Shrimp in 3 crab sauce - Mussel gorlae - Coconut crab curry - Choo chee scallop - Sticky rice with ice cream for dessert Honestly this might be my favorite Thai restaurant in Manhattan for the dishes alone. read more

Fish Cheeks was one of the top restaurants I wanted to visit for a recent NY trip! I've seen it on so many lists and it was recommended by chef Kwame Onwuachi for Condé Nast Traveler. I made a reservation on Resy a month beforehand when the reservations dropped. I was on Resy right at 12pm EST and was able to snag a reservation for 2 at 7pm on a Friday. After refreshing, all the 6-7pm slots were gone. The food did not disappoint at all! They gave us some shrimp chips with a dip to start, it was delicious. Next, we got the crispy rice salad & pork. It was good but on the spicy side. For the mains, we got the steamed fish with Thai herbs and the coconut crab curry. Both were amazing and so flavorful. The fish is served whole and comes with an aromatic broth. It was so good but be careful with the bones! The crab curry was delicious, the curry had great depth of flavor and a good amount of crab. I was stuffed at the end of the meal. I also enjoyed the Tongue & Cheek cocktail. It was refreshing and sweet but not overly so. The decor was also cute. I loved the fish shaped lamp shades. read more

Wow, fish cheeks! I wasn't familiar with your menu!! This place is amazing! I came around 5p on a Friday and, thankfully, there was seating at the bar. The service was great. The bartender was very helpful with drink recommendations and explaining dish spice levels. The Melon E Melon cocktail was really yummy with the perfect amount of sweet. The Zaab wings were incredible. Packed with flavor that had me licking my fingers clean. The Coconut Crab Curry was extremely tasty. So rich and creamy with a subtle kick of spicy that gradually got spicier as you go (in the best way possible. And they did not skimp on the crab. I was blown away! I'm a huge fan of Thai food but this place is on another level. I can't wait for them to open one on the west coast. read more

Such a yummy meal! We had a group of 4 and everything we had is a MUST ORDER! Here's what we got (and you should get too): Zabb Wings, Grilled Pork Cheeks, and Steamed Fish with Thai Herbs. Don't forget the white rice and if you want coffee, the Thai Iced Coffee! Such a cozy, delicious meal! The Zabb Wings are something special! The wings themselves were slightly overcooked (just a tad on the dry side), but the dry rub on the wings were SPECTACULAR!! The wings were so zippy and acidic from the lime flavor! I think they use some type of lime powder ??? and it is SO ADDICTING! Great wings The Grilled Pork Cheeks were also great. Nice and fatty and flavorful, especially with the sauce. The Steamed Fish with Thai Herbs was the star of the show! Served on a dish with a flame underneath to keep the broth hot, this fish was AMAZING. The meat was so lush and flavorful from sitting in the broth. And that broth was INSANELY DELICIOUS! Herby and bright and savory and oh so delicious spooned over the rice. SO COMFORTING. I don't mean to sound dramatic, but the food here is poetry. I came with my husband for our anniversary dinner, and each bite we took was punctuated by words of praise and appreciative nods. I heard this place was good, but I didn't know it was THAT good. We started with their raw shrimp appetizer which was incredible. The sharpness and spiciness of this dish will sober you up. It was incredibly fresh and nuanced. We also got complimentary shrimp crackers, which came with what I believe is a shrimp and tamarind paste. That dip is a REVELATION. I had never before thought to use tamarind and shrimp paste together in a dip! For the mains, we ordered the crab noodles, fried fish, and crab curry. All were incredible. The crab noodle had such a savory, sweet, umami flavor - I could really taste the celery and cilantro. The crab curry was so rich and spicy. The fried fish didn't taste fishy at all, sitting on a bed of tangy, sweet vinegar topped with herbs, cashews, and diced pineapple. The dishes served here are incredibly inventive, and I loved every thing I tried. This is one of my top restaurants in NYC! read more

Hiked through the cold to Fish Cheeks at 4:30p on a Saturday with no reservation. Glad to score a table with the condition we were out by 5:15 because of upcoming dinner reservations. Got sat quickly, there is a decent amount of seating for a smaller establishment but tables sharing a booth bench are kind of snug next to each other. We ordered the corn salad, crispy rice salad with pork, and chicken wings. Corn salad was great and came out quickly. Crispy rice and chicken wings came out later; wings were some of the best I've had anywhere and weren't drenched in sauce. Incredibly crispy with a sweet and umami dusting. Crispy rice salad was good but a little salty, we actually got a side of jasmine rice to offset the saltiness. Overall had a great time but would love to explore the menu more when not in a time crunch. Can't wait to return! read more

Fish Cheeks is hands down the best Thai food I've had in the US. You'll need to make a reservation as it books up quickly. The interior is dimly lit and cozy, making it a perfect spot for date night or group hangout. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, and everything was amazing and packed with flavor. The crab fried rice, coconut crab curry, zabb wings, and fish were all standouts. The curry had a surprisingly spicy kick that I really enjoyed. They started us off with free shrimp chips as well. I'd order everything again without hesitation and will definitely be back. It's on the pricier side but definitely worth it. read more

Came in and got a seat at the bar right away on a busy Thursday night. I came here with one mission -- to eat the coconut crab curry. Mission accomplished. This meal was so flavorful and good, I will definitely be back for it. read more
My friend and I wanted a place for dinner after a show and I wad really happy that I could book a 10:00 reservation for a Saturday night. There are fewer and fewer places where that's possible. We were seated around the corner from the bathroom but we were tucked into a nook that was quieter, and with comfortable seats (most of the other tables had different seating from ours). The waitress gave us a number of recommendations since we hadn't been before. For a starter we had a delicious, brightly coloured sweet corn and tomato salad. We both could have gone for another order of that! Our waitress suggested the crab curry, which we ordered. My friend loved that. I really liked the grilled mackerel, which was the whole fish. There were different textures and flavors on the plate that complimented the fish well. There's only one dessert so if you don't like coconut, you're out of luck. But we were too full for more. We were really happy to finally get to try the menu. I hope to go back soon and try some other dishes. read more

(Spoiler this mango sticky rice was so good and worth just getting this if you went haha) I've tried: Zaab wings ($18) crab fried rice ($28) crab curry ($30) mango sticky rice ($14) Corn salad ($15) Steamed fish ($40) Raw marinated crab ($25) Mango sticky rice was the best mango I've ever had LOL - they have limited numbers so you have to check if they have it and if it's in season. Def get steamed fish, which is what they're known for. Everything else was good! Curry is on the milder side (flavor wise), wings are juicy with good sour flavor, and the crab meat is very tender. Just as good as the last time I visited. I want to shoutout the hospitality from the host, server( did an excellent job at tour guiding my friend's allergy), to the runner. This time I got a few new things and was blown away. 1. Branzino and oldie but goodie. Sauce I practically drank from the dish. AMAZING 2. Pork belly was absolutely delicious 3. I took my cousin around Manhattan since she had not been back since 2008 and my first thought was to bring her to Fish Cheeks because I had such a great experience the first time. We made a reservation for 8 but arrived an hour early. Luckily, even on a packed Tuesday night, we were able to get seated right away. We ordered the Chefs Selection for Two, Selection 1, and it was more than enough. I was completely full but did not want to waste any food and brought some back to our hotel. The steamed fish was as delicious as I remembered and the crab fried rice was the absolute show stopper for us. Our waitress was also very helpful and attentive whenever we needed anything. Heard a lot of hype surrounding this place, so was excited when I managed to snag a dinner reservation for the weekend! Here's what we ordered: - Zabb wings- Probably one of my favorite dishes, and one of their most known ones as well. - Crispy rice salad and pork- Not quite what I was expecting compared to other crispy rice salads I've had. The crispy rice and pork tasted a bit soggy, so would pass on this. - Crab aob woonsen- These glass noodles were pretty tasty with a decent chunk of crab meat but portion overall was a bit small. It's certainly a solid Thai spot, but wouldn't confidently say that it's my favorite. I think if you're able to easily get a reservation, it's definitely worth a shot but probably wouldn't wait too long for a table if doing a walk-in. You can probably get just as good Thai food elsewhere. read more

SERVICE - located on bond st and bowery - spacious interior with lots of natural light and colorful wall decor - recommended to make a reservation as it gets busy - servers are friendly and welcoming - indoor seating for groups of 2-4 diners - food served relatively quickly MENU - thai entrees and appetizers with a focus on seafood - mid day happy hour from 12PM to 5PM daily - limited vegan and vegetarian options available - average price FOOD - tofu pad prik khing (8/10): fried tofu cubes sautéed with spicy red curry paste and green beans and garnished with thai chili slices. This was one of two vegan entrees and it sounded more unique than the green curry. When they say spicy, it delivered. I usually have a high spice tolerance but even I had to take a few breaks to tone down the fire. The portion was the ideal size for one person when eaten with rice. I liked the addition of the beans for a touch of crisp freshness. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes, though I would want to see more tofu based options if possible. read more

After trying their sister restaurant in Bangkok Supper Club, it was inevitable that I had to try the food options here. Visiting the NoHo location, I initially booked as a party of two, but had to adjust my RSVP to three on short notice. Their email communication was prompt, and I felt a great first impression knowing the speediness of responding to resy changes for guests. Inside the venue itself, we lucked out by having a table by the windows so there was a bit more space. There's indoor and outdoor seating, but do know some of the tables inside can be fairly close (classic NYC dining!). The menu offers a diverse range of options, including a Chef's Selection list for two that's for $140. The dishes are served family style, and each were incredibly delicious. We had a party of three, and decided to split three dishes together. Our choices ironically ended up balancing out the flavors very well, as the saltiness of the pork cheeks just complemented the acidity in the branzino and spice of the curry. My favorite was the pork, but each dish wow'd me away. If I had to nitpick, it's that there's only one dessert item--but it was very delicious and a great finish to our meal. Service was also incredibly prompt, welcoming, and I could tell their effort shine as ours was training a new waitress at the time. One of my favorite places to visit in New York. The best and absolutely tasty Thai food in the city. I try to come back every single trip. The food is always fresh, hot, and delicious. The flavors and the aroma of the food is just astounding. I really wish they had something similar in Florida, I would truly become a regular. I was greeted right away, and sat almost immediately which I mean , we love that right? For drinks of course I had to try the mocktails and oh my goodness the phony Negroni could have fooled me because it gave me a punch to the stomach haha. It was good in a weird way but not for me lol. I also tried the Coco bah, and yes I will definitely become a regular Coco bah drinker. Honestly anything coconut can never go wrong with me, so I had to get another . I tried the Zabb wings to start so flavorful my goodness, a perfect lemon pepper taste and fried to golden perfect. For my main entree I tried the steamed fish with Thai herbs honestly I'm not sure I can describe the perfection I tasted. Besides a perfect mixture of sweet, salty, and a hint of lime. It is mildly spiced topped with devious peppers and onions. I always pair this with the sticky rice, I love the sticky rice it's absolutely incredible. All in all, Fish Cheeks you're so cute, lovely, and tasty. I forsure will come back again when I come to NY , I'm hoping sooner rather than later This feels like a love letter haha read more
Me and my friends decided to come here on a whim the other night. There was about a 45 minute wait for a table, but we were able to get notified via text when a table opened up. The space itself is very pretty with lots of dim lighting and wood accents. They are undergoing some renovations, so part of the restaurant was not usable, but when it opens back up, I'm sure it will be able to accommodate more people. The menu is quite seafood and fish forward, and our server did a great job of walking us through the menu. We ordered the somtum corn salad, the green curry, the steamed fish with Thai herbs, and the crab aob woonsen. Everything was delicious and had great flavor profiles, but the standouts were definitely the steamed fish and the green curry. We also got dessert which was a sticky rice with pandan ice cream and was so good. I'd definitely come back here again to try more items off the menu. read more

Is it realistic to eat outside in their dinning shed in January?
Greetings! Our outdoor seating is heated and covered, and we are able to provide blankets as needed. However, it all depends on the weather and temperature outdoors. Most days are quite comfortable in the outdoor booths.
Is the bar on a first come basis or reservations required?
Greetings. Bar seating is first come. However, if you are interested in bar seating as a reservation, you can include it in your notes and we will do our best to accommodate that request.

When we were there over the winter, there was covered seating against the facade plus also a covered structure along the sidewalk.

First time i went was on a Saturday. It was packed. Reservations were made upon arrival.

They don't take reservations by phone but keep an eye out about two weeks out for them. They have indoor and outdoor dining. Outdoor dining has heaters and indoor dining is at 25% capacity with dividers between diners. All in all, felt safe eating…
Do they have alot of vegetarian options?
Yes, I recall they had a Vegetable Green curry that is made with eggplants and cauliflower.
Is there long wait time without rsvp?
Yes the wait time can be significant. The restaurant is fairly small so tables get taken fast. The food is delicious and well worth the wait if you have time. But i highly highly recommend making a reservation.
Do they have high chair?
I have never encountered babies or children under 2 in my 3 visits. Maybe because some things to eat are slightly spicy
