Janice Avery has been our First Service Residential on-site manager for the past several years. In the almost 12 years that I've lived in the building, we've experienced quite a few managers by way of another management company and Janice was the manager that we had always hoped for. Managing a large vintage building comes with many potential challenges, as you can imagine; but Janice came through every time we encountered such events. For example, everyone would be notified immediately and provided an honest assessment of the problem and how and when it would be remedied. Recently, with the Covid 19 situation, Janice constantly updated all of us concerning mandatory building practices and safeguards as well as any new state/city regulations. She also went so far as to send out weekly lists of activities that we might be interested in and able to do during the very difficult periods since last March. Janice made our large condominium building feel like a small, healthy, happy neighborhood; a place where you could rest easy because a true empathetic professional was in charge. read more

I sold my condo in May of 2022 and the June 2022 assessment was mistakenly removed from my checking account. The buyer of the condo has indeed paid up both the June & July 2022 assessments. (I have email messages from the current condo owners with evidence proving this.) Judy Howells the property manager at Fairfield Villages has had three months to repond to my June 2022 assessment overpayment refund and after 2 detailed voicemail messages and at least 4 detailed emails with attachments that show the withdrawal of funds from my checking account on June 6th, she has never attempted to contact me. I have also called customer service multiple times and had them send her messages about this issue. Yes the current condo owner has sent an email authorizing the refund of the June overpayment. At this point I have had to enlist the services of my attorney. First Residential obviously has some very shady and slippery business practices. Why would they attempt to keep and not refund an obvious mistake on their part? read more

I am writing this review about Lakewood Falls - Plainfield/Romeoville. Our association management company is First Service Residential Illinois. Our Property Supervisor, Elizabeth Sokacich is the most concerned, capable and caring person and we are very lucky to have her taking care of our association. She is always available for concerns, questions, and replies with an answer or solution within an hour or two. Peace of mind for me. I had a concern about a broken sidewaIk in front of my garage and Elizabeth put it on the list and followed up with me with questions I had until the job was completed. In addition to day-to-day business, she has made Spring and Summer so enjoyable for all of the residents. Easter Egg party, Santa at Christmas time, Touch A Truck, Forth of July Fireworks and food trucks, entertainment, and informational meetings all season long. My experience with Elizabeth Sokacich at First Service Residential has been wonderful! Elizabeth is extremely responsive, knowledgeable, fair, approachable and keeps the residents informed of community updates and events. One of my favorite events is the annual LWF community shred event. All the events I've attended are very well coordinated and their staff was very helpful. Recently, I needed to have my roof replaced. I knew that I needed to notify the association but wasn't sure about the process. I reached out to Elizabeth for assistance and she responded "within the hour" with the necessary paperwork. It was very clear and concise. The modification review process was seamless. We bought a townhome 14 years ago, as our first home. We had an association but were not aware of how that would impact our lives. Fast forward, and I hear horror story after horror story from so many friends about their negative experiences with HOAs. NOT US!.....ONLY because we have the BEST representatives taking care of our community. Elizabeth Ortman is our hero! She has been easy to contact, to work with, gets things done, and really cares about the fact that this is our home with our kids! My husband and I have had conversations about where we live and if it hadn't been for the excellent service provided by Ms. Ottman, we would have moved years ago. My husband and I relocated to Illinois and ended up buying a townhouse in Towne Place West. We are beyond pleased with our purchase, thanks to FirstService Residential and our property manager, Jamie Roman. During the pandemic, our whole family has taken to daily walks around the community and we are always delighted at the beautiful grounds and how well the community was planned and is kept. Jamie keeps all the residents up to date regularly (things are changing so fast with the state's phases of reopening.) Impossible to deal with this company. You call Customer Service and they really can't help. They are more of a message center. And the people that I requested call me back, never do. I have been trying to communicate to the Patricia Slabich's manager for two weeks now. I want to talk to them. All I get is emails from Customer Service. A call center and emails is not customer service. Sometime an actual conversation is needed. I guess I will have to stop in the Elk Grove Village office to get this resolved like I did for the last problem. read more

Sandy Penway is a great site manager. Whenever there's a problem she gets right on it and responds promptly. We have had some situations in my area that needed attention, and she quickly got them fixed. Sometimes renters just don't abide by the rules, and they need to be notified. I live on a court, and it seems that people want to park in the visitors parking and do strange things. So when I call Sandy, I know she will take care of the problems. She is a great spy. Sandy has a great positive attitude. read more

We live at Cambridge on the Lake. Moved in 2017. We really love the place plus it's management office. Jenny Kozik' is one of a kind. She is always punctual, informative, polite and very professional and always with a smile. During the pandemic the office has followed all mandates. She has helped me with many household issues, always thorough, prompt and professional. I've been an owner in one of their managed communities Lakewood Falls in Plainfield. They communicate regularly and are quick to respond when tasked with a question. The team also works with the Board to regularly schedule fun stuff for the residents (food trucks, etc), which makes it a welcoming community.
