The name of this place gave me Game of Thrones vibes for some reason. Don't know why. Maybe because it's called First Watch and it is kind of like Nights Watch. I came here with a friend. We went to the Broadway location for brunch. There are multiple locations across Tucson. They serve healthy breakfast foods, which was nice. It reminded me of my future brother-in-law. (Next time he comes to Tucson, I'll have to bring him here.) They have a few items not listed on their menu. I got the vanilla chai latte pancakes. It was topped with bananas, raspberries, maple-chai-almond butter, and a super-seed mix. I really liked it. It is different and you don't feel guilty after eating it. I didn't eat all 3 cakes, so I brought it home. I also got the Blue Booster, which has white grape, blueberry, lemon and basil in it. It really gives you energy. My friend got a classic breakfast and an Iced coffee. The iced coffee is really good; tasted like caramel. I really liked this place and I would love to bring my fiancee here. I think he would really enjoy it here. I got him the farmhouse hash to go and he had it when he got home that day. He really enjoyed it. So I would definitely return here. And since there are multiple locations, if one location is too crowded, I can go to at least 3 or 4 other locations. read more

Headed over to First Watch this morning on a recommendation from a local for great fresh breakfast. I was telling her how horrible the food was in my hotel across the street. This breakfast spot did not disappoint. I had the avocado toast and the portion is huge! Eggs were served perfectly! Will definitely come back next month. Real fresh food. read more

First off "Floridian French Toast" is Amazing!!! My daughters and I always get the Farmhouse Hash and we are NEVER dissapointed. I highly recommend this location for its friendly faces, warm personalities, and great food. Our server Jinaly was the best and so attentive. She never left us looking for her at all. She was on top of everything. Five stars for sure! read more

Love this food BUT don't like the First Watch (all of them) mask policy. It's voluntary for staff even if they don't have vaccines. We had masks on but they are the ones bringing our food. We got a waitress with no mask so I asked if she was vaccinated. She hesitated then said no so I asked for another waitress. She got angry and said we were discriminating. I politely asked for a new waitress again and she huffed off. The next waiter came with no mask and I asked him the same. He politely said yes he has his vaccines. We hoped he was being honest. As we were eating the first waitress walked by our table and coughed at us On Purpose! I instantly went to manager and she said she'd speak to the girl but pretty much blew it off. No more First Watch for us! read more

The Food is Great! The wait staff is great! The price is completely acceptable. Location is great. So, what's the problem? I went for breakfast with 4 other friends, and we all enjoyed the menu selections and the meals and breakfast cocktails we chose were great but 2 things were so 'bad', that none of us will ever go there again, and those were: 1. They ran out of coffee. It's breakfast for god's sake, you don't run out of coffee. No excuse. NO EXCUSE. You call yourself a Breakfast Restaurant - so don't ever run out of coffee. Not ever. Stupidity beyond acceptability. 2. The noise in there is literally so bad that we could not converse, not even sitting next to each other so close we were touching shoulders. The music was so loud we felt like we were in a nightclub, and the customers were all trying to over-talk the music and the result was PURE HELL. Sorry, but that noise was a complete ruination for me and my friends. This is NOT an over Exaggeration. It was PURE HELL. You can go try it, as I said, the food was very good, but the experience was painful. Also, you have to stand in line to pay your bill - even more stupidity. read more

I have been coming to this First Watch Cafe location, since it was The Good Egg Restaurant. This cafe is exceptional and our favorite place for breakfast and lunch. I have come to this location two days in a row, just to try the Quinoa Power Bowls. Amazing! These bowl are happy, healthy and super savory. I have had just about everything on the menu, including their grand specialty breakfast drinks. Absolutely delicious! I have yet to have less than exceptional service. Especially from Olivia and Justine. Thank you Ladies! We will return for more! read more

We've been to all three locations in town and while we typically enjoy the service and quality of the food, we've experienced their kitchen's inability to cook an order of over-medium fried eggs: always too runny with lots of uncooked egg whites, or too hard. This is very consistent at every visit! We've sent eggs back time and again with no substantial change. On the plus side, the smoked salmon frittata is consistently well-prepared and very tastefull. My wife always loves the Morning "something" drink with red beets, etc. Decent food, usually good service, over-priced for what you get, quite the wait to get a table at times on the weekend. It's a nice change of pace from our own home cooked breakfasts or Laverna's cafe. read more

One of my favorite places to eat in Tucson! First Watch is amazing! The food is amazing. The staff is amazing. The juice is amazing. The healthy food choices are amazing. It is just amazing! It was pretty busy when we arrived but we got seated quickly. Our waiter was friendly. The food was amazing, of course. I am always excited to try the new juice they have. I had a blueberry one this time, so good! The million dollar bacon is one of my all time favs. This place makes healthy food that actually tastes good! I would definitely recommend! I was getting my car windows tinted nearby...so I started walking to see what was around. I saw the sign for Firstwatch, and thought..."I will just get a cup of coffee and read". I walked in and was greeted promptly, and then seated. I started looking at the menu...and WOW...what a varied selection that are solidly grounded in sustainable ingredients. I got the TRI-ATHLETE (Egg white omelet with house- roasted Crimini mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and green chilies. Served with house-made pico de gallo, whole grain artisan toast, all-natural house preserves and fresh fruit). OMG it was delicious! The green chilies added zip yet were not blazing hot (I added hot sauce).The toast was a perfect compliment to the perfectly cooked egg white omelette, and it had texture and tasted like fresh baked bread! I really did not have high expectations, because to make a flavorful egg WHITE omelette...takes finesse. Well done! The fruit was ripe and delicious, and the coffee was superb. Walked around in a search for breakfast and met with standard chains in this walkable area. First Watch caught my eye and I went for it. What a cool, unique menu along with the must haves for breakfast. I got an Asian Pork Belly Breakfast Bowl that sounds weird on the surface but it was so good that it's ensuring I'll come back. Interior is cool, the servers are nice and keep your coffee full. What more could you want? read more

We love breakfast, but can only go on weekends. First Watch is our go-to most weeks. (We're always looking for and trying others) We are never disappointed. Just an all-around good decision to go there (we prefer the Grant/Swan location) I start with Morning meditation with extra beet juice. beyond that, we try different items and, after years of going there, are very rarely unhappy. The servers and staff are friendly without being in-your-face overly helpful. The atmosphere is chill, yet bright and promising of a lovely day ahead. read more

We've been to the location in Denver and now one in Tucson. Still the same great service and the same great food. We actually ate breakfast at this location twice in the week we were in Tucson and everything was perfect. Our food was piping hot and the waitstaff was great, as usual. Two thumbs way up!! I just read through many pages of first watch reviews, on indeed. I would like to share a few with you. 1. The majority of the products you use will be pulled from the freezer and (improperly) heated to temp in a steam well. You will not gain any cooking knowledge nor hone your skills here. This tells me the food is not even made it is shipped in frozen. 2. Cardboard boxes are always piled high with food particles found on the floor in the kitchen, followed by trash cans overfull in the kitchen as well. All of this contributes to creating both an unsafe, and unhealthy environment for people to trip, slip, and fall. This tells me that the kitchen is not clean and sanitary. 3. Crammed space, too many waiters/servers hanging around back vaping, filthy kitchen, only one bathroom to be used both by customers and employees, no breaks, limited time to get something to eat, and finally treat people like machines. This tells me they don't have a place for the employees to sit and have a break of any kind. I did not make up one word of what is said here, I copied and pasted from Indeed reviews of first watch. My lunch at first watch was a simple salad, but they could not get that right either. Here is what the first watch menu says is in the chicken avocado chop salad: Arugula, Romaine Lettuce, Chicken, avocado, Black Beans, Corn, Tomatoes, Feta Cheeese, Herb Mix, Tri Color Tortilla Strips, with Citrus Chipotle Dressing and served with Ciabata Toast with whipped butter. I did ask they leave out the arugula. Here is what I received on my salad, lots of romaine lettuce spine, two pieces of avocado, I did not see or taste any corn, black beans, tomatoes or feta cheese, it had two small pieces of chicken in the bowl. The toast had no butter and none was provided in a separate dish. Maybe because I ask them to leave out the arugula, when they hand picked it out of my salad they tossed all the other things, also. This is totally unacceptable. You should take a look at the menu and what you are expected to get, then take a real close look at the actual dish you receive, to see if you are getting what you are being charged. read more

Sadly I have found the world just isn't like me for the most part. But BOOM! Kale tonic... Chile Chorizo, super attentive and funny charming wait staff. The manager winked at me. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Suffice to say she absolutely raved - placing it on par with many of the Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants she has sampled back east. And, we agreed, when Michelin publishes its first-ever SouthWest U.S. edition later this year (2026) I recognize getting a star is a mighty fete but if Tito/Pep does not at least make its S.W. Bib list I will know the fix is in. We started with the Queso Fundido ($13) - with chewy cheese, sauteed mushrooms, and beef chorizo it was a perfect blend of meaty/savory/fatty. We also ordered the Grilled Octopus ($17). What a surprise this was, the crunchy roasted pepper flakes and unusually soft grilled octopus it kicked the pants off of "calamari-style." We inquired and the way they remove the typical rubberiness is by poaching the octopus tentacles for 5(!) hours before grilling. You Go chef Martinez! For our entree we opted for the day's special: deep fried whole Red Snapper for two ($85)... as did about a half-dozen other tables in this intimate 20-tabled venue. See pics as a written description is inadequate. The crisp was excellent and the tender moist fish just beneath, exquisite. The roasted jalapenos were other worldly - somehow only mild heat and with a subtle sweet/acid presence... totally and entirely edible. As fantastic as the vinegar slaw was atop our self-made fish tacos, the tomatillo puree was ridiculous - so fresh and not sour that its scent was nearly as strong as its flavor. We asked again, how?! and were told they first cook the tomatillos for 3 hours. Folks, the effort involved to present this kind of meal would be nearly impossible to do at home for even double the cost. We concluded with the ganache dessert ($12). While so richly decadent it was possibly too rich, only by virtue of its size... it needs to be shared! We were deeply torn over that or the olive oil cake and will opt for the latter... next year, Lol. For drinks we ordered two glasses of their "red blend" (really good for a simple blend) and then the Pie Allen after dinner cocktail ($13) - an interesting combination of prickly pear liquor and port. The staff were amazing - not just in timely attentiveness (a minimum requirement at this level) but especially in terms of being able to field our deep curiosities about several of the dishes. Due to our "layers" of ordering we stayed an easy 2+ hours and were never rushed. Parking will get tight at peak times but everyone will be accommodated. Pre-tip we were at $165 - a special occasion outing for sure but, we both agreed, an (almost) bargain. At this level of quality and degree of effort in Chicago or Miami (places she recently lived) would be closer to $250 for two. Small note: three years ago this began, now it's the norm - restaurants are calculating the tip based upon a total that's After the tax has been added. It's a minor but, nonetheless, unconsented-to, inflation of the tip. Just an fyi :)

And while there isn't a distinct Arizona style, we're pretty good at throwin' something dead on the smoker here. And that's just what they do at The Bashful Bandit in Tucson. Their ribs and sausages are good. The brisket is lean, but very flavorful. I didn't get to try the chicken, but the highlight was the pulled pork. If there were an Arizona style BBQ it would be something like this. They cheat the competition rules, but I'm okay with that. They put some green chile in the pulled pork and it's an absolute killer. Not so killer was their coleslaw. It was as sour as the face on my ex-wife and as bland as the seggs we had before she broke up with me. And while I never had a side dish, the side dishes here (apart from the coleslaw) were all yummy. Really good mac and cheese, top shelf cowboy beans, and a potato salad that was dressed in dill and tasting mighty fine. Speaking of dressed, I like my BBQ naked, but if you need sauce (sissy) then go for the house sauce. Great flavor, just a little heat, and just a little sweet - very balanced. The spicy sauce was just okay and the mustard sauce might as well have just been French's Mustard from a two-dollar squirt bottle. Most importantly, while you're wiping the house sauce off your greasy lips, go back to the counter and do yourself a favor, order their appropriately and hilariously named "Smoked Crack Pie." It's an other worldly happy ending to your meal (didn't see that coming, didja?). This thing is a simple but genius dessert. They take a chocolate chip cookie covered in a vanilla custard topping and put it in the smoker. It's got a gooey consistency like a pecanless pecan pie and tastes like if your favorite brownie and crème brûlée had a baby (I'm honestly not sure how that would work...it's weird just to imagine the mechanics really...). Anyhow, don't be bashful, get to The Bashful Bandit in Midtown Tucson and git yerself a case of the meat sweats. You won't regret it.

While I'm an omnivore, I really love that they have meatless options for when I'm not feeling like eating meat. I enjoyed their sides as well. The Sunflower Crunch Salad is a nice no-mayo coleslaw with seeds and fruit that give it some nice textural and flavor contrasts. The Dill Potato Salad is on the lighter side for a potato salad (this is a compliment), with some bright herbaciousness. The Mac & Cheese, by contrast, is super heavy and rich. They round out the plate nicely! The staff are friendly and quick to help adjust orders if there's something you wanted that they're out of.

Our server was genuinely kind and attentive--the definition of great customer service. Everyone we interacted with was so friendly, and we even had a nice chat with who we think was a manager as we were leaving. The atmosphere was welcoming, clean, and well-organized.
