I have so many food allergies that it is really difficult to eat out, but this place had so many opinions for oils, gluten-free bread, etc. that I was able to eat a real meal. The food was overpriced and quality was not there. Service was poor. If I am paying that much for food I should not be standing in a line like McDonalds. The order was wrong when we got to our table I tried to get someone to come help and they said no you have to take your order back up to the counter. The food is fine and the menu is trendy/ progressive, but as a single diner I get isolated to the far corners or near the toilets. This isn't a Covid response as First Watch was discriminating against singletons long before social distancing was a mantra. It's a little pricey but still a nice breakfast. We frequent many First Watch locations across the US, but this one here in our home town is our favorite. The service is excellent, especially our favorite waitress, Annie. She always remembers our dietary restrictions and preferences and makes sure that our order is prepared with care. We love the options of chicken or turkey sausage, as our family does not eat pork. In short, I would say First Watch is "franchise meets local". After living in a larger metropolitan area and coming to visit Springfield, I was pleasantly surprised that First Watch exceeded my expectations. The restaurant has a well-designed atmosphere with a menu that reflects very reasonable prices. I would suggest the Tri-Fecta which allows you a meat choice, egg choice, and pancake choice. The lemon-ricotta pancakes are a must try, but I snuck a bite of the blueberry pancakes and without a doubt they were just as tasty. The coffee here is excellent too! And they leave the pot and flavored creamers out on the table, just like it should be everywhere. read more

There are several breakfast places in town and this has earned its spot near the top. Every time we drive by it's packed, and for good reason, they serve some tasty food. I got the eggs Benedict with a side of biscuits and chicken gravy. The Eggs Benedict was delicious. The base was a nice, dense break lightly toasted. Next were the fresh tomato and spinach, topped with a perfectly cooked egg and a wonderful hollandaise sauce. The hollandaise wasn't too rich and was well balanced. As to the biscuits and gravy. As a boy from the Midwest this is a staple, that simply wasn't up to par. I only ate part of one biscuit before calling it quits. The chicken gravy was soupy and a little bland. Biscuits and gravy is weighted pretty heavily in my breakfast standards. However, our server noticed the abandoned biscuits and asked if we liked them? We gave him an honest answer stating it was very different and not what we expected in the traditional dish. He apologized for not explaining the unique style and immediately removed it from the bill. Great food and even better service will have us back another day! read more

If you hired a team of psychics to extract my idea of the perfect breakfast directly from my brain and turn it into a restaurant, First Watch would be the end result. There are tons of healthy options, the ingredients are as fresh as they come and the carafe of coffee they place on your table as soon as you arrive is fantastic. After sampling a variety of their more traditional breakfasts as well as some of the more esoteric options (do not fear the quinoa power bowl - it's delightful), I can attest that they truly do offer something for everyone. Given these facts, you'd expect the prices to be astronomical, but the cost averages $10 a plate, and what you get in return rivals the best breakfasts Springfield has to offer. One warning: if you're arriving first thing in the morning, prepare to wait in line. This seems to be a function of the restaurant's newcomer status moreso than any failings of the staff, so I didn't remove a star for it, but there's no denying it's a factor. My recommendation is to adopt a Ricky Bobby mentality (if you ain't first, you're last) and get there before they open. read more

Just tried First Watch (3rd day they've been open) on the corner of National and Battlefield (former Shoneys) and it was great! My mom and I are both vegetarians.
