Been to this location many times and it's just crazy to witness this chain's transformation from down to earth, hometown, low-priced local spot to deliberately "rustic" bougie, high-priced hipster brunch spot. Can't beat the convenience of the location with ample parking. Solon has other brunch spots but it's always super crowded and busy on non-holiday weekends. The wait time can be kind of crazy and the pay up front method is the bottleneck. I'm waiting for the host/hostess to seat people, take reservations AND take payments...yeah, no wonder the line move slow as molasses... The presentation of the dishes always look so fresh and appetizing and their menu items are trending more fruit and vegetables included so I like that. Their basic breakfast plates are so stingy with the meat though! You pay $14 for ONE measly little sausage link. Granted, it's delicious but for goodness' sake, can you sneak 1 more in?! First, I want to say that the first time I ordered from this location, everything was terrific. The last few times I ordered from this location, I was disappointed. The last time I placed an order before this morning, they gave me pancakes with no syrup or butter. (Uber Eats order) Now this morning, I placed an order a little after 7 am and wanted to try the new Double Bacon Parmesan hash. I asked for no sprinkled Parmesan, no onions, and no diced bacon. I still wanted everything else that came with it. But my order was missing the full bacon strips, the arugula, and my potatoes were still more on the raw side. I cant believe I've never reviewed First Watch. I dont think I've ever had a bad meal at any First Watch. I prefer the solon location the best but have also tried the Macedonia location and one in the Cuyahoga Falls area as well and had good experiences there also. Prices are a little more then the small mom and pop greasy spoon breakfast places. Nothing wrong with those places and I can appreciate those restraunts at times also but you definitely are paying for quality here. Many different selections with fresh flavorful and healthy ingredients. I would reccomend first watch to anyone for breakfast, brunch or lunch. If you like avacodo toast it's very good here. We came to First Watch on Wednesday with the gals for breakfast. The hostess waited until all seven of us were present to seat us. This allowed us to catch up in pairs while we waited. We sat at two large tables pushed together. Adam was our server. He was very warm welcoming and attentive. He brought our table several coffee decaf and regular pitchers, along with water carfes to share. He handled our orders with ease. I had the Hibiscus Limeade to drink. It came with a lime and hibiscus leaf as garnish. It was very light and refreshing. Perfect for summertime! I ordered the Rainbow Toast, 2 eggs over easy, and a side of home potatoes. The Rainbow Toast is off the summer special menu. It is brioche toast smothered with Ricotta cheese, topped with a rainbow of fresh fruit, bunches of granola, then drizzled with honey. Blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, and mango are the juicy fresh fruit featured. It was a delightful representation of a summertime rainbow! The two eggs were basic diner food cooked right. While I rarely go out for breakfast, it is especially rare that I will dine at a franchise based breakfast establishment (e.g., Denny's, IHOP, Big Boy).Yet, I decided to go against the grain of habit try something different on a Sunday morning. Upon walking in I noticed that it was relatively busy, but not packed. The host advised me that I could sit at a long table if I didn't want to wait for a standard booth, so I took the offer and sat down at a wooden table with a separate seating bench, which looked like something you might see in a French country home. Upon viewing the menu, I ordered a coffee and opted for the Superfood Kale Salad. Much to my surprise, the coffee was bold and inspiring and clearly brewed from high quality beans, unlike the commerical grade garbage that is typical at many restaurants. The salad was phenomenal assortment of kale, carrots, mixed greens, slivered almonds, dried cranberries, all-natural chicken breast, and delighfully topped with a maple-lemon vinaigrette dressing. So for sure, no wait and welcomed with a warm and good coffee. The place was cleaned and honestly pretty comfy. Pretty vast menu with quite a few options. I think there is too little vegetarian options and they are also not indicated clearly. For people that like eggs breakfast, you will love all the choices they have. I choose to go for one of the summer special, the açaí breakfast ball. That was delicious!! Granola and almond butter toast on the side, it was just the perfect breakfast for me that day. FW is always super crowded but they have managed to keep it safe in the time of Covid. The people are friendly, but there is not much time to interact since it is so "business-like" and such--Covid again. The food is great and we are big fans of all of the egg dishes and pancakes. My son loves oatmeal and also the fresh-pressed juice drinks. First Watch almost always has a wait in Solon. Luckily, they offer free coffee and decent seating as you wait to be texted. If you can get to First Watch before or after the church crowd, you'll likely be seated right away. Set that alarm! The food at First Watch is always fast, reliable and delicious, and i've never ordered anything I didn't care for. I love that they always have new specials, and recently added a juice bar to the menu. The French Toast Monte Cristo has become one of my favorite brunch options, and I crave it anytime i'm on the east side. Despite being a chain, this First Watch feels cozier then most. The restaurant is very clean and comfortable, has a good free wi-fi connection, and great service. The servers are extremely attentive (many of them local students), and the noise level is moderate. First watch is the best breakfast "chain" restaurant out there. In a breakfast chain market crowded with mediocrity (Bob Evans, Denny's, IHOP) -- this one shines. Sit here and you don't feel down on your luck and sorry for yourself. Reasons? Fast service and attentive service. The only chain that serves thick-cut bacon that's always crispy. Everything is served hot. The place looks fresh and clean. Fluffy pancakes, delicious french toast, waffles and omelets. The sausage is substantial and delicious. I also sense good energy, and a bright "cheery" vibe. Downsides? The coffee is just "alright", plus I wish they had real cream that I could pour instead of those annoying half-n-half plastic pouch cups that make me feel like I'm at the office. First Watch restaurants can get mobbed at times. However, unlike the Avon and University Circle locations, this Solon branch is very much less crowded. I'm already a fan of FirstWatch and have visited multiple in various city's. This was my first visit to this location in Solon and was surprised to be able to walk right in on a Saturday at Noon and grab a seat. Must not be a big brunch crowd in the area. As usual, the coffee was offered hot for the table, and received a quick listing of some of the special pressed juices and new menu items. Some of the favorite items to order as the Avocado Toast w/ basted eggs, Hacienda hash and my old time favorites, The Tri-fecta w/ waffle, pork sausage and eggs scramble with cheese topped w/ avocado. Today, I went the old l classic and an orange juice. I did note that the pressed orange juice tasted just a bit off, like there may have been one bitter orange that made it in but it was still palatable. Just a note; if your dining with someone that usually only visits traditional chains like Bob Evans, Denny's or IHOP, they may not like this. But it really depends on the person. Next time, I'll save myself that headache of trying to get someone to try something new. Also, since it was close to the holiday I took advantage of gift card offer. I've had breakfast here a few times and it is always good. Everything tastes freshly made. They have really good oatmeal...I know that might sound strange but it comes with brown sugar and a 'wittle pitcher of milk, and there's cranberries, bananas and walnuts in the oatmeal. Ymm...trust me, this is coming from an eggs and sausage kind of guy. I tried one of their breakfast crepes once and it was different, but good.
