My cousin and I were looking for a new breakfast place to try and I chose First Watch after reading some reviews on Yelp. I really liked the ambiance, and we were given a really warm and friendly welcome by the hostess. I ordered the Veg'd Out omelet with seasoned potatoes and a side of turkey sausage. To drink, I ordered the fresh squeezed orange juice and hot tea. The server brought a nice selection of organic tea bags from which to choose, which was a nice touch. Overall the meal was good and fresh. I'd definitely come back again to try some of the other menu items. Check out their website an join their Sun e-club. My husband and I tried First Watch for the first time for breakfast. When you walk in the decor is modern country (if that's even a thing). I liked the bright green color on the walls, it gave it a nice feeling to the place. Everything is wide open, even the kitchen. Not a fan of open kitchens, so you hear everything that is going on in the kitchen throughout the whole restaurant. They definitely tried to maximize the space they had by putting too many tables in the restaurant. There are some areas where they didn't need tables, it makes it seem a little too tight. My husband ordered the Parma hash and it was good. His only complaint was that they didn't provide him with jelly for his English muffin. He asked for it and they got it to him quickly, but it was a ramekin of nothing and he had to ask for another. Also, the orange juice is advertised as "fresh squeezed", it's not. Taste like it came out of a can. I ordered the Belgian waffle and 2 eggs. They both were good but nothing spectacular. Lastly, the process to pay your bill is not the best. They have the cash register located right where you enter into the restaurant. So, you have a line of people to trying to pay and people trying to enter and leave at the same time. It caused a big back up and you don't have any where to go because there are tables around you. Overall, not too bad. Most likely won't return for another visit. read more

Good place for a casual brunch. I hadn't been to Raleigh in a while, so it was kind of cool seeing the old Boston Market be transformed into something so open-floor-plan-y like this. I didn't eat so well the day before, so to counter that they have a healthy section to their menu, which I gladly partook in. I ordered the power wrap (From menu "Egg whites, turkey, spinach, house-roasted Crimini mushrooms and Swiss in a sun-dried tomato basil tortilla. Served with fresh fruit and a side of housemade salsa") and it was pretty good! Salsa was nice and spicy, ingredients were treated and seasoned well... my only two complaints were 1) the wrap was sitting in it's own juice when it arrived, and it was soggy on the bottom, and 2) this is just my personal taste, but there were a ton of egg whites on there, it may have overpowered the other ingredients a little... Nonetheless, I'll absolutely come back here next time I'm in Raleigh and check it out again! There were a ton of options and the plates that my family got looked great as well. read more

I have driven past here many times, but never stopped in, usually because I thought this place was packed. Today was a different day, and was warmly welcomed and seated right away. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and gave good recommendations for food. My waitress also provided some quality information when I asked about the menu. I ended up ordering the Swisshroom omelet and seasoned potatoes. The addition of herbs and onions to the traditional omelet is a great touch. I'd prefer if the onions were a bit more done, but that's something I'll ask for next time. The seasoned potatoes were kind of bland, but no different than you get most places. Truly a great meal, and I'd recommend this place to anyone. I will certainly be back! read more

Very poor experience, food quality and value. At the register I was asked the cursory question, "how was everything?". I shared my disappointment with someone who had no idea how to respond or make amends. Poor management training. I would not recommend or go there again, way too many options to pay this much money for overpriced breakfast, small portions. read more

We tried to eat here, asked for a table and was told there was a 30-40 minute wait by Sarah, who claimed to be a manager. We went to get coffee and came back 20 minutes later, and were told that our names had already been called and there was no way we could eat without going to the bottom of the list and waiting for an hour. She also acted really offended that I would even ask, which makes no sense to me. Really shitty experience, thanks for ruining our attempt to eat here. Edit: This was a one star review because of the bad service from Sarah, but I just got a call back from Joe (the operating partner) who seems like a good guy willing to go out of his way to make it up to the group. I actually would give this a three and a half. I used to love it, now I just like it. Chicken pecan salad with the hot mustard dressing is good, but make sure you order the dressing on the side or the salad will be literally soup . So I went back today for breakfast since I liked it so much. Service was good. Experience was good except when I got my breakfast (the tri-frecta which was the same as what I had before except I replaced the bacon with pork sausage) I was surprised that I received 1 sausage. I even asked the waitress about it. I can not recall a breakfast that didn't give you at least 2. Seemed a little odd and my lone sausage kinda looked lonely. :( read more

Overall everything was good, but a few sticking points dragging it down. We had a great experience with wait times. Got there early, put our names in, and by the time the later guests arrived we were seated, about perfectly on par with the wait estimate we were given. Sitting outside was really nice on a perfect day, but also because it was much quieter. Service was perfectly fine and our food was pretty good overall. I had the carrot cake pancakes, another had French toast. They let my boyfriend sub grits in for meat on his trifecta, and the forth diner got her custom oatmeal just right. So why only three stars? Because my boyfriend's sunny side up eyes came out under cooked. He didn't want to make a stink about it, but I could see the whites jiggle that under cooked jiggle as they were served to him. He realized after digging in I was right. I have a major issue when a breakfast place cannot serve eggs correctly, especially when it's so obvious that they are under. The chefs should know better and the wait staff too. It's dangerous. Yes, we should have spoken up, but it should never have happened. I understand poached eggs being under or over, but not something you can see by eye. Second, three of us got breakfast food that usually are eaten with syrup, and I had to ask for it. I always look for places which serve breakfast all day and have healthy offerings as well. I don't go to that part of Raleigh really often so I wanted to make most of it. We were immediately seated and I liked the vibe of the place since it gets so much sunlight and have minimal modern farmhouse kind of decor. I had read great reviews for hash and veggie burgers so I was confused for a little bit before ordering a veggie burger as i almost never find a good one. I wanted this place to break the jinx and it did. The burger was delicious with creamy avocados and too many dressed greens. After helping the gentleman she totally leaves and does not return to help us. 3.5 really. Went for Sunday Brunch today. There was a small wait for a table, but only about 10min. The restaurant is clean and airy. The wait staff is very friendly. I had the traditional breakfast, 2 eggs over medium, bacon, home fried potatoes, English muffin, and coffee. My fella had the Triathlete omlette with home fried potatoes. I must comment on the coffee first. I'm a bit of a coffee snob (grind my own beans at home, French press, yada yada), so I was not expecting a cup of coffee that was up to my standards, but the coffee here is a-ok. I was impressed. The sugar offered is turbinado, which is fine by me, that's what I use at home. So - very good java. I asked for my eggs over medium, and they were done right. I asked for my bacon extra crispy and it was perfectly done. The home fries were not deep fried, always happy about that! To me, home fries should be made on the flat top grill and caramelized with some onions. First Watch does it right. My fella's omlette was about what he expected, could have been bigger and had more filling, but all in all a pretty normal omlette. He liked the potatoes as well. Everything was fresh, done the way we asked, and delivered to out table hot ind a reasonable amount of time considering they were fairly crowded. There are a number of things I'm looking forward to trying on their menu, and they do tempt you to come back by having you fill out a rewards card where they send you coupons and free offers. I first went to FW in Ft. Lauderdale years ago and then POOF! One opened in Raleigh and I'm so glad. I only wish it was opened late at night like one of those Waffle House places that I cannot stomach. This place is not obnoxiously packed, as everything unfortunately in Raleigh is now a days but it does get a rush around noon. I've tried most things and I must say they are spot on. She loved these juices. They are filtered after being pressed. I don't filter mine. Go figure. The juices are VERY reasonably priced at $3.99 each for a 12 or 16oz glass. Hit up other stores in the area for a similar juice and you're looking at $6.99+ for the same thing. Wife had Keywest Crepeggs and it was a perfectly savory crepe! I had the works omelette and it was packed with meat and cheese and the fresh, cool tomatoes provided a nice contrast to the hot dish. The served was extremely attentive.
