My 2600th review goes to First Watch! I had been to a First Watch in another state before and liked the food. When I found out they were opening one nearby, I wanted to check it out. I had signed up for their emails/promotions ahead of their opening and had a coupon for a BOGO free entrée for my birthday. Unfortunately, I didn't know that the coupon was not valid on the expiration date (you have to use it before that date, so just keep that in mind). We still ate there anyway. My daughter, hubby, and I stopped in on a Saturday at around 12:30. We were quoted a 35 minute wait, but it was closer to an hour. But the nice thing is that you can shop around, they'll text you when your table is ready, and you have 10 minutes to get there. I had the Pesto Chicken Quinoa Bowl (quinoa, kale, shredded carrots, roasted tomatoes topped with chicken breast, basil pesto sauce, lemon white balsamic dressing, Feta cheese and fresh herbs). This is what I had when I first tried First Watch and it's just as good as I remembered it. It's actually what made me start liking quinoa in the first place. The chicken breast was perfectly cooked, and the dressing gave it a nice zest. For a drink, I had the Kale Tonic Fresh Juice (Kale, Fuji apple, English cucumber and lemon). This was very refreshing but a bit sweet so I watered it down myself. Hubby had the Works Omelet, which he upgraded with Million Dollar Potatoes as the side, and he seemed to like it. I just saw that they have a seasonal menu, so it's nice that they have their classic items but also some other dishes on rotation. I definitely want to come back but I wouldn't come on a Saturday or if I do, I would try to come when it opens. read more

Was looking forward to try the breakfast at First Watch and believe me iI was not disappointed. I ordered the hash potatoes with mushrooms, zucchini, onions, red peppers. Multi grain toast with butter and jelly yummy, but wait the coffee with oat milk was sooo delicious. What was cool was the coffee pot left at our table for hot refill. Maria our server was very pleasant and patient with us as we try reading the menu (we forgot our reading glasses lol). The tables were comfy and the restaurant had these industrial lighting making it warm and cozy. I will be coming back for sure. read more

We live in the area and had high hopes for a new breakfast/brunch spot. The interior was nice, clean and modern. Unfortunately, our experience was not a good one. The cutlery was not clean- we asked for a new set. The items on the menu all sounded delicious. There were lots of choices. When the food came out it was not all hot. The potatoes were cold/lukewarm. The eggs, cold. The biscuit with sausage gravy was tasty and hot. I asked for water and was brought a glass with lipstick still on the rim. Gross. By this time we were ready to leave. Won't return anytime soon. Although most food was left on our plates our waitress just ignored that and dropped the check. Good concept but poor execution. At least clean/polish the cutlery properly and send hot food out. read more

We were initially told the wait would be 25 minutes -- totally reasonable. But after receiving a text 15 minutes later saying we were next, we returned only to be told the kitchen was backed up and it would be another 15 minutes. Then came multiple conflicting texts, including one saying we were being removed from the waitlist for not responding... while we were literally standing there. We were finally seated about 20 minutes after that. It only got worse. It took 40 minutes for food to arrive, and even then, my daughter was served first while my husband and I waited another 15 minutes for ours. The food itself was incredibly disappointing: "poached" eggs that were basically hard-boiled, burnt toast, burnt sausage, and scrambled eggs that came out as a firm, molded mound instead of anything soft or freshly made. To top it off, the entire restaurant felt chaotic. We heard multiple crashes from the kitchen, servers openly complaining, and even staff encouraging the host not to walk out mid-shift. Meanwhile, takeout and delivery orders were flying out while dine-in customers sat waiting for long stretches. Overall, disorganized, poorly managed, and not worth the time or money. Came here for breakfast this morning with the family. Decided to come here after reading such positive reviews about their fresh ingredients and delicious food. We arrived at 8am and our server was Hermine. She was so sweet and gave me suggestions for food options. She was probably the only thing pleasant about this experience. 3 basic breakfast came out to over $75 and unfortunately it wasn't even close to being worth it.. toast was stale and dry, home fries were very undercooked and the grits were probably the worst that I've ever tasted in my life.. couldn't even get an iced coffee because they ONLY make them with whole milk and I drink oatmilk. As I said before, other than the sweet customer service we received, nothing else is worth recommending. What a disappointment read more

First Watch focuses exclusively on breakfast, brunch, and lunch, and is known for using fresh ingredients with no heat lamps, microwaves, or deep fryers. At 1130am on a Tuesday we waited about 20 minutes for a table for 2. They will text you when your table is ready. The free coffee urn in the waiting area is a great idea.. Coffee was excellent! THE FOOD: Menu has many options of breakfast fare; delish juices and sides too. Everything was very good. On this trip I tried the Frittata Rustica : An Italian-style omelet with kale, house-roasted Crimini mushrooms, onions and tomatoes topped with Mozzarella and Parmesan. Served with ciabatta toast and lemon-dressed organic mixed greens. Everything was so fresh. Delish. Accompanied by the ever refreshing Purple Haze ( juice) made with lemon, cane sugar, butterfly pea flower tea and a hint of lavender. My friend thoroughly enjoyed the Tangerine Dream (juice) made with tangerine, pineapple, organic ginger, cane sugar and sweet cream cold foam along with the Chickichanga: whipped cage-free eggs with spicy, all-natural chicken breast, chorizo, green chiles, Cheddar and Monterey Jack, onions and avocado rolled in a flour tortilla. SALTY AF. All the savory items we ordered were SOOOO salty that we could literally feel it on our tongues on the way out. Not sure if this is typical or an off day. The lemon ricotta pancakes were good. I wish they had more espresso coffees-their coffee selection is pretty disappointing. Our waitress was friendly (though one other server was rude to us). Coffee was weak and lacked flavor, waited over 18 minutes for my side of poached eggs to arrive after my skillet was delivered. Needless to say I didn't get to eat with my family. One dish was missing a key ingredient. And Not much filling in the roast beef havarti sandwich. Also front of house staff seemed disinterested until manager came. We went to First Watch for brunch today with the family and had a great experience from start to finish. When we arrived, we were told there would be about a 15‑minute wait, but we were pleasantly surprised to be seated within 10 minutes.The service was excellent. Our waitress came over right away, offered coffee, and took our drink order. She was attentive without being overbearing and quickly returned to take our food order. I ordered the Traditional, my wife had the biscuits with turkey sausage and gravy, and my father ordered the Floridian French Toast. We also shared an order of the Million Dollar Bacon.The food came out fast, everything was fresh, and every dish tasted excellent. You can really tell they care about both quality and service.Overall, it was a very enjoyable brunch experience, and we will definitely be coming back. Great spot for breakfast! Food is high quality and they have a good variety of pancakes, French toast and healthy alternatives. Their million dollar bacon is different and enjoyable! My grandkids did not enjoy it as it was little spicy, but no complaints on it from the adults in our group. Really enjoy the coffee too and the wait staff are very friendly and helpful. The service was great everyone was super friendly and attentive :) We ordered the Trifecta with waffles, ham, and eggs, and omg the waffles were SO good !! They were perfectly crispy on the outside and light and chewy on the inside I also tried the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict and loved it, the tomatoes and lemon zest made it taste super fresh ! Me and my mom had such a great time at First Watch in Paramus during the Family & Friends breakfast! The food looked just as good as it tasted fluffy pancakes with fresh butter, perfectly seasoned potatoes, and eggs cooked just right. The sausage was juicy, and the coffee was really good. The server Adrian was very nice and kept checking up on us I also tried the kale tonic juice, and it honestly made me feel so refreshed and energized super light and fresh, not too sweet. The service was friendly and attentive, and the whole place had a warm, bright atmosphere that made it easy to relax and enjoy. First and last time! We visited this place the morning of Monday 12/29/25 and it was simply awful. The 2 stars are for the coffee which was the only thing that actually tasted good. Over 45 minutes to get our food. Our server took our order and then disappeared the entire time. No check backs, updates, nothing. We had to flag someone else down who was not our server, to get us the water we asked for that our awful server forgot. When she finally brought the food out, she ran away so quickly we didn't even get a chance to tell her we had no silverware! So again, we flagged down someone/anyone to help us. Food was overly salty and barely edible. If Management is reading these reviews, please take notice who was serving tables roughly 10am on this day and then kindly fire her. read more

Like the holiday menu that had mint mocha iced coffee. TIP: cap your iced coffee off w extra coffee left over if your party is having coffee & are done refilling w carafe. If you get the million dollar bacon ask for it crispy but say not burnt. Issues I have exp'd in Union & Montvale was English muffin coming out 5 minutes after food; to avoid that here in Paramus I reminded them I wanted it with my meal. Waffles were crispy and fluffy enough not hard or dry. Sausage quality tasted 95% better than your average place - so exceptional. (I got mine well done and they were perfect not overcooked) eggs I asked for it over easy eggs but one came out medium hard. Which was fine. The compote & jam given with pancakes and English muffin were exceptional should be used and not over looked. Not sure if maybe one was Huckleberry. Our server Megan was quick accurate and friendly. The people busing tables were hustlers. You pay at the front the front cashier at checkout was doing his job and triple teaming calling in guests too. Be prepared to wait. The lines are long. The place is nice and clean and the staff is very polite and knowledgeable. The food is good. Nothing crazy to write home about but good food to warm you up on a dreary day. If you're at the mall and want a nice breakfast or lunch spot I would recommend it, but not to specifically drive here due to location and lines. read more

First time to this location and it was clean, the seating was quick, the restaurant is bright and the chairs comfortable. Our server was bubbly and quickly took a beverage order and gave us ample time to review the menu. I had an omelet which came with a salad light dressing. The omelet was a bit overcooked for my liking but was toast and nicely seasoned. I also ordered a biscuit which was buttery and delicious. Went at 11:30 today and let me say I hope they work out the kinks because it was NOT good. My eggs were cold, I received salad instead of potatoes, the toast was also cold and stale! My mother orders a soup and sandwich and the club sandwich bread was not toasted and was so stale it was breaking as she ate it. We were doing some shopping at Bergen Mall and decided to try this place. Decor was ok but a little rough when a waitress yelled across the floor to a cleaner for something. We shared the turkey, bacon, etc sandwich which was good but the sandwich ingredients were just thrown in, not spread nicely which made it difficult to eat and the bread broke apart by the time we took our last bite. No reason for this except poor chef. If they can't make a decent sandwich, I don't have much faith in other dishes. Won't go back. read more

I arrived at First Watch at 1:30pm on Sunday January 4th. I sat at 2:00pm. The kitchen is advertised as open until 2:30pm but on this day it was clearly already closed. They advertise all fresh ingredients but clearly the kitchen was ready to leave and put together whatever scraps they had quickly to serve me this sandwich. My family had gone the day prior and described this sandwich as "Huge, mouth watering and delicious - a generous amount of bacon and avocado piled high. The egg was over easy so when they cut into it the juice drenched the sandwich and it was filling. A quality amount of arugula and dressing. The breakfast potatos were plentiful and crispy." This is not what I was served today. The egg was fully cooked through, dry and flavorless. The cook clearly had an extra old egg laying around which he used in my sandwich. I had two absolutely tiny pieces of bacon that you can't even see in the photo. There were two tiny pieces of avocado the size of quarters on the bottom. They forgot to put on the dressing! They forgot to bring out the potatos. When the waitress came I told her and she brought out oily, mushy breakfast potatos with a hair in them. You can clearly see a dry egg in the sandwich that isn't piled high at all and isn't fresh with no ingredients visible under the brioche other then the egg and some sparce arugua. My waitress disappeared for awhile, not returning until 2:27pm. I said can I put in something else since this wasn't filling? She said let me ask my manager. She returns and said "My manager is being stubborn, he doesn't want to put in any more food for you because it's two minutes past 2:25". I was never warned of the kitchen closing or offered last call. I am extremely disappointed, won't return and will never recommend this place to anyone. read more

I'm writing to express my disappointment with my recent visit to your Bergen Town Center location in Paramus, NJ (Suite 100) on November 1, 2025, at 10:21 AM (Ticket #30016). I ordered what was advertised as Eggs Benedict, but what I received was an open-faced sandwich with some salad on the side. This is not what an Eggs Benedict should be. The dish did not include the traditional components--poached eggs, English muffin, Canadian bacon, and hollandaise sauce--that define an authentic Benedict. It felt misleading and disrespectful to customers who expect honesty and quality from your menu descriptions. I've always thought of First Watch as a place that values freshness and integrity, but this experience made me question that. I had been to this restaurant with a girlfriend of mine and I have to say it was wonderful. The food was absolutely outstanding. Particularly those million dollar potatoes. They were fantastic. The service was so good. The waitress was very attentive and modified things as we requested. Coffee was great. It's so nice that they keep refilling your ice water and give you lots of lemons put into it, which is a favorite of mine. The fresh squeeze orange juice was also really delicious. The decor is really welcoming and very casual. Very comfortable. Nice big booths to be able to relax into is one of my favorite things. My husband and I went on 10/23. I order Chile Chorizo which first didn't have any chorizo. It was a plain omelette with some, I supposed, caramelized onions and some chopped chiles. No flavor. No seasonings, no salt or pepper...disgusting! It was accompanied by some greens taking out of a bag, again without dressing. The only thing I ate was the bread they put in the dish. For sure I'll not recommend or I'll be back ever. Another thing I notice. Is that every single item gets a separate tax charge and another charge for the entire check!? I found that very strange!! We love First Watch - unfortunately this location other locations we have visited. Four of us ordered food and one dish came out 15 minutes after the three others. One of the dishes was completely dry and was mostly burnt potatoes. We were then charged for an extra tea but our waitress never came by to have this corrected. Service was very slow and overall we were disappointed by our visit. We will keep visiting the Montvale location. read more
