The staff were definitely new and learning the menu, but that is to be expected any time a new place is freshly opened. Our server, Blake, was nice though and was learning fast. But with a few other servers, there was one thing that did not come about from being a server in a new restaurant. We were eating and could CLEARLY hear the staff around the corner talking loudly and cursing left and right. I am not a prude about language but it's just not something you see every day at a restaurant with families/kids dining. The size of the restaurant seems a little smaller than the L street location, too. That may be a psychosomatic thing when trying a different location of a place you know, but I definitely felt more cramped. The food is on par with the OG spot, so no complaints there. My usual is the bourbon glazed salmon with the cheesy broccoli on the side. So it was just as tasty as the other location, but I think I'll stick to the L street one mostly going forward.

All the classic dishes like the lavosh, the prime rib enchiladas, the voodoo, chicken, etc. are still on the menu. On the whole, our table enjoyed the meals we got. That said there were a couple little notes I have. I've said it before, but the way they plate salads is impractical here. They serve side salads on small glass plates. Of course I appreciate the effort to make it a nice sized salad and fill up the plate, but with no overhang and no depth because it's not a bowl, it makes it really difficult to stir around without making a big mess. They don't serve the salads tossed, so this continues to be an issue for me as a diner. The other thing I noticed is that the building itself definitely needs a little TLC. Everything just looks a bit worn... in particular the walls, the baseboards, places where there's wear and tear, and it just doesn't look as crisp or as modern or updated as it could.

The table next to me ordered steak, as I did, and their food was brought out from the kitchen with a grand presentation. Another table that was seated later also received their food while I continued to sit without mine. What concerned me most was what I observed while waiting. I saw a female employee holding my ticket while the other tickets were up on the line. I brought this to my server's attention, and after my server went to inquire about my order, I observed three employees laughing among themselves. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable waiting for or eating the food. I did not make a scene, raise my voice, or argue with anyone. I simply asked the host for my check so that I could pay for my drink--which I left nearly full on the table--and leave. When a customer watches other guests who arrived after them receive their meals while their own order appears to be deliberately delayed, and then sees employees laughing after the issue is questioned, it creates a serious loss of trust. By that point, I was no longer comfortable accepting food from the kitchen because I could not feel confident about how my order would be handled. I am very disappointed that my experience reached that point. I came in simply wanting to have a meal after working an event. Instead, I left without eating and feeling as though I had been treated differently from the other customers around me. I hope management takes the time to review what happened, speak with the employees who were working, and determine why my order was handled this way. No customer should have to sit quietly watching everyone around them being served and wonder why they are being treated differently.
