Briana was our waitress and was a simply a pleasure to have her spirit around. She's personable! Made my mom's birthday breakfast feel like homemade. Thank you first watch and please know you have a great asset to you establishment. Thank you for the smiley face on the pancake

Great food and environment for brunch after church. Waiter was amazing as well. Nnnmmmmmmmmmmmm

Came for lunch on a Friday at 12 pm. Was not packed and immediately sat. They do have a parking lot which plenty of parking spaces. It is a bit small and shared with other businesses, so I can see it being a bit packed during peak hours. The food was delicious! I got a the farm house hash skillet bowl, and it was delicious! Everything tasted fresh and was seasoned to perfection. Their seasonal watermelon juice was so refreshing! It was not too sweet and not too bitter. The perfect consistency. Definitely will be back to try other dishes.

First Watch - Matthews - Soooooo good!! Loved the blueberry lemon corn bread! Grits were spot on. Million dollar bacon was SWEET - but good. Great roast beef and Gruyère with creamy horse radish on sourdough bread! The tomato soup was wonderful as well loved dunking our sandwiches in it. Worth a visit. Busy?? But the staff is on point!

The coffee was delicious. I enjoyed my almond butter, toast the million dollar bacon was really good. The cornbread was served cold asked them to warm it came out warm still not warm enough to melt the butter, in a cast-iron pan. Disappointing.

I've been to this location twice now. I ordered to go 45 minutes before closing. My food took a while as if the staff was not aware of my order. I was asked by a couple of different people for my name. The food was very good. I personally enjoy the restaurant chain, but the standards vary depending on the location. I wish they had a couple of vegan options.

I have to confess the first time I went to a First Watch location in another state I didn't realize they were a chain. I was very impressed and upon learning they were a chain I immediately had to look up the nearest locations. I came into the Matthews location for Sunday brunch. There was quite a line of people waiting to be seated but it moved quickly and after a 30 minute wait we got our table for two. The restaurant like the other location I've been to has an urban farmhouse aesthetic and despite a large interior the tables are packed in pretty tightly to seat a lot of diners. I decided on the ham and Gruyère melt along with some home fries and a side of bacon. Of course I had to get a mimosa as well. After our meal we also tried some coffee and the mint iced mocha was incredible. First Watch is easily one of my favorite chain restaurants and this location did not disappoint. The food is fresh and the menu is extensive with a mix of classic breakfast staples and some bold twists as well.

My family and I decided to do brunch here. I was able to reserve our seats online before arriving which is so convenient. The table was ready earlier than the expected time given. I ordered the kale tonic for my drink it was good. The Apple kale balance was perfect. My children enjoyed orange juice. For our meals the kids had pancakes and Turkey sausage. They give a good size portion of food for the kids meal. Mines are younger so they had plenty to take home. My husband ordered the oatmeal with fruit it also came with a muffin. My dad and mom had breakfast platter. I ordered the chicken chimichanga. The sauce was not my favorite it had a lemony flavor that I did not enjoy. I might request the sauce on the side next time. The filling was so flavorful though. My mom and I ordered a side of potatoes we both felt they were undercooked. They have a good variety of options to choose from and some really great pancakes .

I just wanted something to snack on so despite the large menu, I chose to get a guava and cheese empanada. The flavor was good but it wasn't worth the price tag (almost $5). I tried to order a nitro cold brew but was told they were out, and had been for years.....so I ordered an iced cafe con leche. I had to ask for it 3 times because the cashier didn't seem to know what is was, despite being on the menu hanging above her head. Her co-worker had to show her which button to hit on the POS. I'm sorry to say that this was the worst coffee I've ever had. No flavor at all. It tasted like watered down milk. They should probably fix their menu because calling that a cafe con leche was completely misleading. Overall, a very unpleasant experience.

First impression was good. The restaurant itself looked clean and family-oriented. It had a diner-like feel. We ordered breakfast. (Breakfast is served all day.) Our server was very pleasant, attentive and friendly. I ordered one chocolate chip pancake with strawberries and whipped cream, and a turkey sausage patty. My husband had an omelet with hash browns and a biscuit. Overall, we thought everything was very good. My husband said he prefers his hash browns more browned and crunchy; and that his biscuit could have been a little better, but he was still pleased with his meal. I have no complaints about my pancake and turkey sausage. The thing I liked most about this place was that there were many choices on the menu, and the prices were reasonable. Finally, a place you can enjoy that has good food, a nice atmosphere and won't cost you an arm and a leg. This is closest to a real diner that I've eaten at in a long time. As we waited for our food to come out (which didn't take long at all), we noticed other waitstaff delivering amazing-looking food to tables. Our mouths were watering!! We will definitely be back. A very enjoyable experience.

We did let the staff know but were told that the only other option was a booster seat which unfortunately our child is not big enough for. Second, my wife and I thought it was just us, but the acoustics are not great. This was exemplified when I heard my wife order a martini, and the waitress ask what kind of tequila. The waitress then brought my wife a margarita. We politely sent the margarita back. Third, we noticed the table next to us ordered a crab dip. My wife and I thought oh that looks good. Why didn't we see that on our menu? We asked the waitress and she said that was from the limited menu. Well our menus did not have the limited menu insert. They both had a dessert menu insert. We asked to see the limited menu and instantly regretted what we had ordered. My wife would have loved to try the lamb pops and I would have ordered the Wagyu beef cheeseburger. We expressed this to our waitress who said we could replace our meals. As we were about to order the food we wanted, our order came out so we reluctantly accepted the original food. When the manager came around, I thought what a great opportunity to let him know of their mistake and perhaps rectify it. As a former server and manager, I would have, at the very least, offered to comp an appetizer, one of our meals, or one of the four drinks my wife ordered Nothing was offered. We received an apology which was nice. For a first visit and for $100+ dollars we spent, we are not sure we'd come back and can't recommend your restaurant. There were many opportunities to make us as the customers feel special especially after all the mixups. The apology and shrugged shoulders left us disappointed.

Biscuits and gravy are a southern staple and rarely have I had any that were really good, except here at Vicious Biscuit. Biscuits are their business. The most important elements are the biscuits and the gravy. Additions are many and varied, but if the basic two items are not both excellent, you will have a disappointing experience. The Vicious biscuit is the size of a hamburger bun. It is soft and there are bits of spice in the dough. These biscuits do not fall apart, but stay together and serve to soak up the wonderful sausage gravy that is poured on top of it. You can order just a biscuit with gravy for $8. And if you are timid, start here. Otherwise, there are add-ons like very good fried chicken, shrimp and grits, ham, pulled smoked pork, crab, bacon, fried shrimp. fried eggs and other combos. Super choices, so take time to study the menu which is extensive. Portions are great, very generous. I had their Vicious ($12). It was their Cheddar jalapeño biscuit, crispy fried chicken, maple sausage gravy, cowboy candy, with maple syrup drizzle. I was hesitant as to the maple syrup, but it is just enough to give accent to the gravy, but not super sweet. Wife had Fried Green 'Maters ($9.50) which were four fried green tomatoes, their signature pimento cheese with a pickled okra garnish. She could not eat it all, so I helped finish off the lone tomato and a bit of the cheese. Very good. Vicious Biscuit is more that a meal, it is an experience, even a journey, through this traditional southern staple, biscuits and gravy. Enjoy the trip. We might see you there.

They serve lunch and dinner, too--and that dinner menu was talking to me! When I try a restaurant for the first time, I usually start with something simple. It is a little like dating the restaurant: before I commit to the whole menu, let me see how you handle the basics. If you can make simple food well, then I begin to trust you. I relax. I get curious. Then, before you know it, I'm falling in love and planning our next date! Fresh Chef made a very good first impression. The eggs were fluffy and cooked to perfection. The sourdough toast was toasted just right, with a beautifully balanced flavor that didn't overpower the rest of the plate. But those breakfast potatoes? Baby, they were the star! Crispy and golden on the outside, tender enough to melt in your mouth on the inside. I added onions and bell peppers, and next time I'll ask for extra because they belonged together. Let those onions and peppers come on out and join the party! The bacon was a good-quality cut--not thin, cheap, or pretending to be pork. As a genuine pork lover, I appreciate that. The coffee was good, too. My waiter was exceptional. I didn't catch the young man's name, but he made sure I had everything I needed while still giving me room to enjoy my breakfast. He was warm, attentive, and perfectly timed without hovering. That kind of service deserves to be recognized. Then I noticed the manager wearing a shirt from my favorite team. Well, that certainly didn't hurt the courtship! Roll Tide! Fresh Chef and I have had our first date, and I must say--it went very well. Now I need to return for dinner and see whether this little breakfast flirtation turns into a full-blown love affair. With a menu featuring steaks, seafood, pasta, ribs, shrimp and grits, and more, I am hopeful that this relationship has a future! Auntie D's rating: Five out of five forks!
