We've been here a few times before, but decided to leave a review today. Our server was very pleasant and checked on us promptly. We decided to order the bottle service option (one bottle of champagne and two juice options - mango, guava). I did have to ask for a new glass since the one I was given was a little dirty, but no issues there. I ordered the Classic Benedict (substituted the Canadian bacon for tenders) with grits and my husband got the stuffed French toast with eggs and grits. Everything was delicious! One of our favorite spots in Matthews!!

My cousin and I did a long walk at squirrel lake park and went to brunch after. We were seated outside quickly and our waitress greeted us with much needed waters. I ordered a buffaloes chicken wrap with chips and my cousin got a breakfast plate. Everything came out quickly and was good. You can't go wrong with their menu! I recommend adding a side of ranch to go with the chips!

First time at this location and honestly was not impressed. Walked up around 10:45 am just to see what the wait time would be for 2 people. We were immediately sat which was great. Unfortunately, we waited for about 20 minutes before our waitress came out to take our order, and that's only because I asked if our waitress could come out and at least take our drink order. Ordered their pancake tacos, and their piedmont omelet. Honestly, the omelet was not that great. The bacon bits inside were super black and burnt and tasted very old. The egg also just tasted like it had been sitting out under a light. It was very dry and just did not have any taste to it. The biscuit was very cold, dry, and hard. Not fluffy at all. The only tasty things were the grits and the dust potatoes. Those were very delicious. Warm, crisp, and very well marinated. Wouldn't come back again.

This is a charming eatery with a cozy atmosphere. It is a go-to spot for breakfast and brunch. One of the standout items on their menu is the waffle, which is perfectly golden and crispy on the outside while remaining fluffy on the inside. I also enjoyed their creamy grits. The ambiance is intimate and welcoming, though the tables tend to be on the smaller side. Whether you're there for the waffles, grits, or just a warm cup of coffee, you'll most likely leave satisfied.

Deconstructed biscuit, eggs, and gravy (at my request) - so good!

My husband and I have been to this location of Flying Biscuit a couple of times. It's a little smaller than the Park Road location, but a perfect location to have breakfast before visiting Matthews Alive during Labor Day weekend. I like their Biscuit, Eggs, and Gravy dish. Their chicken sausage gravy is SO good, and I also love their creamy grits (it reminds me of Midnight Diner's version). I asked for the biscuit on the side this last visit so I could hand it over to my husband, and they delivered all of the components in a deconstructed fashion. Very cool! The scrambled eggs are always perfectly done here, too. My husband loves their Hangover Hash, with over-medium eggs. They are generous with their queso portion, and they always cook the eggs just right. Their biscuits are really good, too, especially with the apple butter that's available on every table. The Matthews location is a little more cramped than Park Road. Service is pretty speedy, however, even on a busy festival weekend. We'll definitely return!

Not bad. Went for breakfast and sat outside. We didn't have a reservation but were quickly seated. Menu is pretty good. I had basically a deconstructed egg, bacon and cheese biscuit. Just had coffee and water this visit. Server was friendly and attentive. Good atmosphere. Nice breakfast.

Yummy breakfast food! I have enjoyed their food. I had the smoked salmon & egg omelette with potatoes and biscuit. Very good flavor and portions. We came for lunch and had a wonderful service. They were super fast. I parked by the shops down the road because things are always busy. I love their biscuits! Fluffy and delicious!

    Easter breakfast.

Got a table at 11am on Easter morning in 15 minutes on the patio. Started with a cup of bottomless coffee while we wait patiently for our server to take our order. After our server delivered the coffee I asked for cream and sugar. Then after I finished my first cup, I had to ask for a second cup and wait for quite a while. They seemed to be very under staffed on the patio so this is more on the management than the server for sure. I ordered the hangover hash while looked very appetizing. 2 issues I found is the amount of queso was very little and the chicken was very dry. The menu said a "heavy downpour" of queso and that was definitely not the case. The chicken was a breaded & fried chicken breast and it appeared the dryness was due to the chicken being cooked and cut ahead of time instead of when the meal was ordered and served. This was our first time here and if the issues were caused or exasperated by Easter I would give them a pass, but quality of food is not tied to the holiday. It comes down to pour standards or execution by the kitchen staff. These types of food quality failures should be addressed before the food is served to their customers. 3 stars at best.

Typically, when someone from a restaurant reaches out to me about my review, especially when they are not 5 star, I instantly become skeptical. However, this owner made me feel comfortable to share my thoughts and explain how my visit went before anything else. Over the years, I have received tons of owners offering me a free meal in exchange for my integrity but I could tell this owner was extremely genuine and wanted to make sure my voice was heard. The initial post will remain the same but I wanted to amend some of the initial remarks including the service. The first time I tried this place, I received service that was not in alignment to the core values and standards this restaurant upholds, which, I am human and I have worked in food service for years so trust me, I get it. Since being back twice since my initial visit, I have been treated like family. The service has been up to par and the staff has been incredibly friendly. As far as the ambiance, it gives the feel of an old diner which makes it charming and lovable. Perhaps, some restorations and furnishings can be done nothing that isn't manageable. Lastly, I wanted to make sure to do a thorough review of the menu so when I went back twice after my initial review, I tried a menu item for each the breakfast menu and the dinner menu. The food was great! It was favorable, warm and packed with fresh ingredients. I tried the ribs and Mac and cheese as well as a breakfast plate on two separate occasions without letting the restaurant know I was coming back for a remake. The only thing I wasn't super thrilled about was the Mac and Cheese, other than that it was good. It goes to saying that their standards are commendable as they do care about their service, food and experience of the customers.

Biscuits and gravy are a southern staple and rarely have I had any that were really good, except here at Vicious Biscuit. Biscuits are their business. The most important elements are the biscuits and the gravy. Additions are many and varied, but if the basic two items are not both excellent, you will have a disappointing experience. The Vicious biscuit is the size of a hamburger bun. It is soft and there are bits of spice in the dough. These biscuits do not fall apart, but stay together and serve to soak up the wonderful sausage gravy that is poured on top of it. You can order just a biscuit with gravy for $8. And if you are timid, start here. Otherwise, there are add-ons like very good fried chicken, shrimp and grits, ham, pulled smoked pork, crab, bacon, fried shrimp. fried eggs and other combos. Super choices, so take time to study the menu which is extensive. Portions are great, very generous. I had their Vicious ($12). It was their Cheddar jalapeño biscuit, crispy fried chicken, maple sausage gravy, cowboy candy, with maple syrup drizzle. I was hesitant as to the maple syrup, but it is just enough to give accent to the gravy, but not super sweet. Wife had Fried Green 'Maters ($9.50) which were four fried green tomatoes, their signature pimento cheese with a pickled okra garnish. She could not eat it all, so I helped finish off the lone tomato and a bit of the cheese. Very good. Vicious Biscuit is more that a meal, it is an experience, even a journey, through this traditional southern staple, biscuits and gravy. Enjoy the trip. We might see you there.

My friend found this spot and I have to say, I'm not going to say the "S" word - because it didn't apply. It was all Hospitality. The first interaction was like we had stepped into someone's home and were told to make ourselves at home. And the rest was the same. The gentleman walked us through the menu. Pretty much the entire line up of options. Not a condescending or impatient tone - warm and welcoming. Same with the next person. Even convinced my friend to get a dessert. Not that I need my arm twisted. The dining area was well kept. Clean. The condiments were well stocked and organized. I saw two different team members taking care of business there even asking if I needed anything. Bathrooms were immaculate. Don't see that very often - at least I don't in public places. The food was what we were looking for. Comfort food. With taste, not muted - just good flavor and consistency. A far cry from the bland, dry foods we had experienced the days prior. It was one of the first meals I really enjoyed on this trip to NC. Not saying that others were bad - they just didn't align with my taste preferences/expectations. Something about how Fried Chicken and Pork Chops are prepared in the South (or NOT California). Tender. Juicy. Mac & Cheese - not watery or overcooked. And I don't think I've ever had bad collared greens in my life. It's one of the handful of green vegetables I love having. Almost forgot parking. It's in kinda a plaza/strip mall setting. Free space and lots when we went (lunch). Not having to look for or pay for parking is always a plus for me. So, it's a chain. But I'd definitely go back. I almost ordered more but was saving the stomach space for dinner.
