Crab cake entree with a side of Mac and cheese
    John C.

Walked into Sol'Delish with some friends on a Thursday night around 6:20. We were in the University City area for a conference and walked over to this shopping center from our hotel. The restaurant was busy but not overly so. They were able to seat us right away. There were lots of delicious items on the menu. My friends all got the salmon (two grilled and one fried). I got the crabcake because I just have to be different, I guess. They brought out cornbread muffins with honey butter that were delicious. They were really soft and cake-like and the honey butter topping was awesome. Two of us got side salads for our side and they came out with the meal, which isn't my preference but the food came out quickly any way so it was fine. The side salads were MASSIVE. Lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and onions (removed from mine) in a huge bowl. Probably could have been a meal to itself. The food came out and there was some confusion on sides that were mismatched and all of the salmons were grilled (instead of the one fried). Everyone really enjoyed their meal. I kinda wish I had gotten the salmon because it looked amazing and really well seasoned. The crab cake I had was good too. I think it had their Garlic Parmesan Cream sauce on top. The crab cake was big and had plenty of crab. I think I would have preferred a traditional tartar sauce on the side. I got their mac and cheese for my other side. It was super creamy and cheesy. It was also topped with the garlic parmesan cream sauce. Very tasty. Service was good. Not ton of visits to the table but I don't think we ever wanted for anything. My total with tip was about $40 and I think it was worth it for all the food I got. Would be a fun place to return too! Good job, Sol'Delish!

To give you a heads up.. just know they have two locations. One is the restaurant where you can dine in or sit at the bar. You cannot order take out at the restaurant location. You have to go around the corner to their original location to order take out which is the 9211 North Tyron street location. The food was delicious. No complaints. I ordered friend chicken , greens , yams and macaroni and cheese. All tasted typical how I would expect these dishes to taste. The star of the show was the crab cakes and the sweet potato cake. Both were absolutely delicious. If I lived in Charlotte I would be here every week for the crab cakes and sweet potato cake. The crab cakes were seasoned to perfection and fresh. The cake was so moist. It was a perfect blend of pie meets cake.

This was my time supporting this establishment. There was bit of a delay because there was an event going on. The food was very good. We had Paradise waiting on us long with a young lady shadowing Paradise. Awesome wait staff! The ambience was nice with black art throughout the restuarant. There was a DJ playing music. I will definitely be back. The food took to long. It was a table of four and one waited an extra ten minutes when it was a duplicate of another person's dish- chicken and waffle

A nice place to bring your wife or your date. The Restaurant has a night clubbish feel. The food is very seasoned, a little on the salty side in my opinion but good, hopefully you're not hypertensive. ( bring your meds) Service is fast and courteous and you'l hear oldies R&B as you wait for your food. A nice "adult " atmosphere, I would definitely come back again.

Excellent first time dining experience here. Lovely friendly staff and service. A true treasure and a great dinner find. Came here for a farewell dinner to my time in Charlotte and what a way to end my dining story here. The gin and soda drink was amazing. My chicken wasn't plain. It was flavorful and not boring. The collards I gave them a try just too salty for me. And the fries just yum.

I came here at 9:05pm on a Saturday night with my friend. The first observation was that the interior is small. Our Waitress was Lee. We ordered "berry blast" and "giving me the blues" at 9:08pm. We ordered food at 9:12pm. We got salmon bites for appetizer. My friend got 2 bakes turkey wings with rice and seafood Mac. I got the 3 friend wings. Berry blast was delicious! I think our waitress made our drinks. 9:24pm is when salmon bites arrived. Food came at 9:39pm. We also got corn bread. The Food was DELICIOUS and fresh! Music was great! My friend was visiting from out of state and I was visiting from another part of NC. We were in the area for pride events. We both desire to return! We didn't have a single complaint regarding the food. Highly recommend! Also, I believe someone told me that they were moving locations to a bigger spot, which would be great!

Met a few friends for Saturday brunch. The line was long when I walked through the door. So I was very excited with anticipation of dining here thinking it must be great. The dining room was okay. Some tables were way too close together and the staff had to bump you or you had to move your chair for others to get out of their seating. I ordered the grits and salmon. The grits and salmon lacked flavor. I had to track down a salt and pepper shaker to make them worthy of eating. The strawberry lemon drop cocktail was amazing a nice balance of fruit and sweetness. The server admitted lunch and dinner was better. If I try again, it will be for dinner. Service was okay. Had to really flag them down if you needed anything else .

Everything that I tasted was great and my 81-year-old uncle enjoyed his fried chicken wings, collard greens and macaroni and cheese as well. I would definitely recommend this place as an authentic soul food restaurant. Just remember, they have two locations within a three minute radius of one another. The location closest to the Boardwalk is dine in only and the other Location NEAR Insomnia cookies is to-go food only. As a southern cook myself, I would definitely, definitely recommend this restaurant!. The service at this location was also fast and the lady at the counter was very pleasant. Also, The dine in location has a beautiful ambience for those looking to eat inside.

Decided to give Sol'Delish a second chance because I always hear such great things about the food, and though my initial experience with them was TERRIBLE, I believe in second chances!! I'm delighted that I made the decision to stop in for lunch and give them a try, because the food was worth it. We went to their new location on the boardwalk, and it's much larger than their old location, we opted to sit outside since it was such a beautiful day, and the outdoor seating was such a vibe! I ordered the fried flounder with Mac n cheese, mixed greens, and yams! The fish was seasoned and fried to perfection! Chef's kiss!! You get two sizable fish filets with your order, the sides are kind of small but my meal was very filling! The meal comes with two sides and they upcharge on certain sides. The Mac n cheese was good, the greens were very vinegar forward, and the yams tasted like they had been refrigerated and reheated in the microwave. But again, the star of the show was definitely the fish, it was hot and freshly fried, great crunch to it and seasoned with love!!

I typically give places at least two attempts before writing a review especially when they are in my neighborhood. It took two hours to even eat here. One hour wait before sitting and another hour to order and get food. At one point glass scattered and shards flew onto our table. The food came out hot but way after people who were seated after us got their food. We didn't even get drinks until the food came out. The server did apologize and try to explain and the manager did comp us a percentage on the meal. Sadly I knew it was going to be like this when I walked in. It would be great if they had a staff meeting on how they can help each other stay organized and turn over tables quickly.

Warning: you will wait one hour on your food. I had to talk my husband off the ledge of complaining about the wait. What made it worse, the couple seated next to us, that arrived later than the 2 of us, got waited on BEFORE US. It took 20 min. for someone to even come over to take our order. Not cool. Very unorganized. However, it was a Friday night at 8:30pm. Our waitress was really nice... even though slow. We received complimentary corn bread, but we had to remind her to serve it after waiting a really long time. If you can deal with the hunger, the food is good. The flounder was breaded and fried absolutely perfectly. Green beans, mixed veggies, and broccoli were very good. Corn bread was from a box and drizzled with honey... ok for free. The lobster and shrimp mac and cheese was good but greasy. Personally, I wouldn't get it again, but my hubby liked it. A few folks came to check on us after we received our food asking if all was ok. I assume one was a manager, one seemed to be the kitchen manager. The floor and lighting are swanky. There were folks with children. However, most tables were adults. There are 2 bars, one upstairs and one downstairs. Both were full. The restaurant was really busy.

I arrived with the intention of dining and departed without a satisfactory meal. My initial plan was to order the vegetable rice and salmon; however, due to an onion allergy and the information that all seasoned items contained onions, I opted for yams and macaroni and cheese. The yams were heavily coated in molasses and sugar, and the macaroni and cheese had an unappealing garlic flavor. Additionally, the Arnold Palmer I ordered tasted predominantly of lemonade. When the waitress inquired if I desired a to-go box, I expressed my dissatisfaction with the meal, to which she responded that I might not appreciate good food. I found this comment amusing. Despite the restaurant being busy, other patrons in our vicinity were also expressing complaints. We experienced a delay in receiving silverware and beverages, requiring a significant wait before these items were provided. Very unhappy with service and food.

Visiting the Charlotte area and looked on TikTok and this place popped up. It looked soo good so I had to come try. We were quoted and our wait and we went 10 mins up the street and on the way back for a text our table was ready. That was a pleasant surprise. I got the fried chicken and my sister got the turkey wings. We both said our food was really good! I would recommend this place.

However, once it was our turn to place our orders, we both said, "Hello, how are you?" She looked at us, turned her head, and said, "What can I get you?" We looked at each other and chuckled. We told her it was our first time here, and she helped us understand how the menu worked, so we placed our order. I ordered the fried whiting, mac & cheese, and green beans. After placing our order, we received a ticket with a number on it and slid over to the left to an older lady (cashier) who seemed to be frustrated or possibly tired. Her attitude wasn't welcoming, but she wasn't mean. She confirmed our order, and then we paid for our food and were told it would take about 25 minutes. We waited in the car until our food was ready. I went back in to get our food, and a gentleman was ahead of me, and he asked one of the staff there, "Who took the orders over the phone?" She said, "I don't know." He said, "They need to work on their customer service skills because to come here to support the business and to be treated like that ain't good." No apology was offered or anything. It assured me that it wasn't just me who felt this way. However, I will return because I enjoyed what I ordered. Give them a try!!!

As soon as you walk in, you see beautiful red roses throughout the restaurant, making it a romantic/upscale atmosphere. The R&B music playing in the background really adds to the vibe. We were seated at one of the high-top tables in the bar area, but there was plenty of seating both upstairs and downstairs, making it a great spot for both small and large parties. We started with the chargrilled oysters, and for only my second time trying them, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed them. They were flavorful and delicious! I also ordered a Lemon Drop martini, which was a bit sweeter than I prefer. It didn't taste like it had much alcohol, but if you enjoy sweeter cocktails, you may like it. For our entrées, we ordered the seafood platter, smothered pork chops, and shrimp and grits, along with sides of lobster mac and cheese, candied yams, and collard greens. Overall, the food was great! Everything was well-seasoned, crispy where it needed to be, and packed with flavor. The only downside was the smothered pork chops, which were a bit too salty with every bite; possibly from the gravy? But the meat itself was incredibly tender. I'd give this experience an 8/10. The food and atmosphere make Kitchen + Kocktails a place I'd definitely recommend to others, and I look forward to coming back to try more!
