My experience at this First Watch was superb! I went on an early Sunday morning with my girlfriend which is the ideal time to be considering it was not super busy. Our food was delivered to our table within around 10 minutes of ordering which was super quick! I got the Chorizo Omlet which had an awesome Pico De Gallo and she had the Tri Fecta which was satisfying but did not make me filled super filled either. Wow. Easily the worst service I've experienced this year. We weren't greeted when we walked in and the overall vibe felt off no one seemed happy to be there. Water wasn't brought out, our waiter took a long time to come to the table and no one checked on us during the meal. I understand being short-staffed. I own a restaurant myself so I try to give grace. But when I ordered the Monterey Club, my girlfriend noticed a piece of hair in the sandwich. At that point, I completely lost my appetite. What made it worse was that there was no apology or acknowledgment. It honestly made me question whether there could've been more in the other half I had already eaten. The salad was also very dry and I asked for extra dressing that never came. The only bright spot was my girlfriend's potatoes, those were actually really good. Service was extremely disappointing. I was already having a rough day, and unfortunately my experience here made it worse. This was my first time visiting, and the food did not meet expectations. The potatoes in the traditional dish were inconsistent--some undercooked, some overcooked, and some burnt. The eggs were just okay, and the hot chocolate was overwhelmingly sweet to the point I had to ask for milk to dilute it. As for the service, my waitress, Lesley, initially checked on me within the first 10 minutes, but after that, she never returned. When I needed to use the restroom, I had to ask a busser where it was because she was unavailable. When I came back, I noticed staff at the front pointing and calling her name while looking at me, which made me feel uncomfortable, as if there was an assumption that I had left without paying. When I returned to my table, the receipt was already there. At that point, I had lost my appetite and interest in finishing my meal. I also noticed that she continued assisting other tables around me but did not check back in with me or ask if I needed anything, including whether I wanted my food or drink to go. Another staff member from the front eventually approached me, and I requested a water to go. She asked about my experience, and I was honest--the food was average at best, around a 5/10. She brought a manager over, who offered to comp the meal, but I had already paid. The manager later removed $6.99 from the bill and labeled it "making days brighter," but to be honest, my day was not brightened by that gesture. This is not written to be rude or unkind, but I do not want anyone else to have a similar experience. I also noticed multiple plates being sent back to the kitchen with food still on them, which in hindsight should have been a sign. However, since this was my first visit and the restaurant came recommended and looked nice, I wanted to give it a fair chance. I've come here so many times and it just gets worse and worse. There are 3 good waitstaff in the place. Most of the time we're forgotten, ignored, get part of what we want, or argue for something to be taken off the tab because they invent new pricing nearly each time we come in. For a breakfast place toast should be pretty basic. As a matter of fact, it should be a highlight. But no, not here. I won't go into details, but today, between our waitress, ignoring us for 10 minutes at a time or longer, forgetting to bring water, coming out with excuses of how someone threw out the re-toasted toast twice, and finally presenting burnt offerings, I think we're done. I watched through the kitchen window as our waitress was cleaning up for the end of her shift instead of taking care of customers. A one off situation like this could be forgivable, but, man it is every single time we come here. The only exceptions were when we have the tall Waiter who is really talkative or the other waiter who has tattoos up and down his arms. He's really kind. We tried! I loveee first watch! I've been to quite a few locations and i feel like the layout of this one is definitely the best! There's a good size bar that also opens up to an outdoor area. There's enough windows that light up the space so you don't feel crammed like the other locations but still gives off cozy vibes and yet seems so open. They have a bunch of single use restrooms which I appreciate and they are always clean. Food is always 10/10. My go to is either the elevated egg sandwich or one of the skillet hashes (all are good). I like getting the iced coffee it's definitely on the sweeter side close to chocolate milk lol soooo if that's not your vibe don't order that. A lot of their juices are really yummy too. I love getting the seasonal items. Cinnamon chip pancakes are backkk and are the best thing!! Love that they give you warm syrup in the bottle. Potatoes are also a staple and an honorable mention. Dining experience has been the same though -- service is not the greatest, you have to wait a very long time before a server comes to your table and they generally are not very pleasant and seem to want you to get in and out. Outside or bar seating is a vibe! Shrimp and grits were fine, but you get more scallions than you do grits.The Watermelon wake-up drink was generally good (tastes like plain watermelon juice), but even adding a watermelon slice garnish/flag would take this up a notch. Ordered Uber Eats from here as I was in the mood for some brunch in Houston, from the comfort of my hotel, before flying back home. This restaurant came up as one of the better options in town, so I decided to give this place a try. I ordered their Tri-Fecta meal (eggs, pancake or waffle and a side of breakfast meat) with an additional order of fresh fruit, and both items tasted absolutely delicious, and it was just the kind of food I needed before a relatively long flight. The eggs tasted juicy and not rubbery, which is always important. As did the sausage, and the pancakes were even better. Just see the photo attached and you'll see what I mean. Since I only ordered Uber Eats from here, I cannot speak to what the service or ambiance is like here. That will have to be for the next time I come to Houston. Our server Kala had a passive aggressive attitude towards us the whole time. We ignored it but you could definitely feel the tension. This location is on Kirby near The Original Chop Shop (another goodie). There's patio seating, plenty of parking, and takeout/to-go options. But dine in, so you can enjoy unlimited coffee and a warm breakfast/brunch. My go-to at FW is always start with the pancake (yes, we share it as an appie), followed by their avo toast, smoke salmon bennie, and then quinoa bowl. While I have never visited this location in person, I was pleased that they did well with ordering take-out/delivery. Thankfully (after going back and forth) Doordash was able to come through and provide me with a refund/credits to my account. While I know the issue was not with Doordash I still appreciated the fact that their customer service was helpful. I'd highly recommend going in to try this establishment. It is located in a plaza so there is more than enough parking which is really appreciated. I ordered my go-to brunch fave, the classic eggs Benedict which were a hit. The hollandaise sauce was very flavorful and one of the best I've had. The only thing that would have made this dish a 10/10 was that my eggs were not runny at all which was a bit disappointing.
