This First Watch location certainly lives up to the schtick. It's basically a corporate take on the farm-to-table movement, so as long as you can deal with the festering irony of that, it's decent. We came in for brunch recently - service was prompt and friendly. I had the egg sandwich, which was a bit disappointing. The bread/bun was soggy and almost Wonderbread-like in consistency. I also asked for no mayo, but the sandwich came with mayo anyway. Potatoes were plentiful, though slightly undercooked. Also tried a side of pancakes - now those are HUGE, so watch out if you think you're getting a little side three stack - it's enough pancake to feed a small army. So basically, just alright - definitely hit the spot, and decent for what we were looking for. It's pricier than other breakfast chains but the quality is also better than your IHOP or Denny's. read more

Visited this cool spot right across from Mission BBQ! The waitress was very friendly and she gave me the water I wanted when I first got there. I got the Salmon & Vegetable Frittata with some seasonal fruit on the side. The Salmon was very delicious and was covered in a drizzle of tomatoes, onions, and this white sauce I don't know the name of... but it was delicious! Along with the frittata was a piece of bread with some butter smeared on it, as well as some leafy vegetables. I used the hot sauce on the side to spice everything up. The seasonal fruit was a mix of honeydew, pineapple, and grapes, which are my top three favorite fruits :-) I spent like $15 this trip but I think the food was definitely delicious and was a comforting brunch spot. I'm not the type to go out to breakfast all that much. So many places are so similar. I appreciate a breakfast joint that takes some chances and has good quality ingredients. First Watch does a fine job at delivering a quality opening day meal. The OJ tasted fresh and the large was a very good size, definitely enough to get me from my meal. Salt and pepper grinders are always a plus. For my meal, I got the Farmhouse hash with two eggs atop seasoned potatoes, bacon, avocado, roasted onions and tomatoes, and cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses. Excellent combination of flavors, though granted when you have bacon and avocado in anything, it will taste amazing,. It's not exactly light with the load of potatoes and thick bacon but it is very satisfying. It also comes with two thick slices of grain toast, with a healthy schmear of butter. It's a pretty solid breakfast restaurant and I'm confident that I'll head back. read more

I've been to First Watch after my son and daughter whom were visiting brought take out one Sunday and it was delicious so when a friend and I went out for lunch we chose to go in instead of take out. The menu is easy and not so overwhelming our waitress answered any questions knowledgeable plus she seemed exactly when we needed her ( without us looking around like ostriches) and when we were deep into conversation in other words she was awesome and the place was full but, you still felt as if you didn't have to scream at each other to be heard. You will love this breakfast food, but then the check comes around and unless u have a trust fund you will be mad you didn't just cook this stuff yourself. I am so ecstatic about finding this brunch spot on Yelp. Usually when I'm bored, I love scrolling through Yelp and finding restaurants around the area (except, this restaurant is in Hampton and I live nowhere close to Hampton) anyway that's not the point. First Watch is such a homey restaurant with a very nonchalant vibe. I felt very at home and relaxed. The wait time on a National Holiday was fairly short, their service is quick and efficient. If you download this app called No Wait, you can see how long the wait time is and if you're within 10 miles of the restaurant, you can add yourself to the waitlist and see how many parties are ahead of you. It's so helpful and made everything so simple and easy. The location is absolutely amazing. It's right next to Peninsula town center and if you haven't been there then you're missing out. The food is absolutely fantastic. Their menu is healthy and the food is so fresh and light. It's big enough to finish as well as make you full until dinner time (at least for me). The drive was definitely worth it being that I live an hour away from this place. I would definitely suggest this place for people who want to have a filling brunch, but not feel awful for the rest of the day. The only thing I'd say negatively about this place is that our waiter did not have much of an expression when taking our order and he as very short and dry with us. I went with a group of coworkers for a quick brunch and I ordered the barbacoa breakfast tacos. I substituted the side of black beans for a side of potatoes. We originally went to the Newport News location before the Hampton location opened up, but since a recent less-than-pleasant experience at the NN location we love coming to this one instead! We use the First Watch App to get our place in line so we don't have to wait 30+ minutes to be seated upon arrival. We take advantage of the FREE COFFEE that's available while you wait. We often take it to our seats as well (Coffee at the table is around $3 per person, so I'll take the same free coffee over that any day). I got the Elevated Egg Sandwich that had bacon, egg, avocado, cheese, and a few other things on it. It was my first time getting it and it was AMAZING! My fiancé got one of their omelets with bacon, sausage, ham, and a few other things. She rated it 8/10. This one is for meat lovers. Great experience! We will absolutely be back. read more

We visited the First Watch in Hampton today. The service was great and most of the food came out correct except the shrimp and grits. The waitress immediately fixed the issue that the cooked messed up and offered me a cup of fruit for the wait. When the shrimp and grits came back out, I was excited to try this dish but it was very disappointing from the first and last bite. The shrimp and grits was very bland with no flavor, I will pass on trying that dish again, I'll stick to my regular! 4 stars because everyone else loves their food and our waitress was extremely great! read more
