Hands down one of the coolest coffee houses in Hampton Roads! I would likely have never known this place existed without my coffee passport. It's tucked away on Fort Monroe - a little off the beaten path for me, but well with the visit. Google maps had me coming from the back side of the building but once you find your way around, there is ample parking and some outdoor seating for nice days. Like any converted firehouse the only windows are from the large roll-up doors. The inside is cozy with plenty of comfy seating. They offer free Wi-Fi and activities for little ones including lots of fire trucks to play with so this would be a nice spot for families. Already planning to bring my family in for a stop on the way to Williamsburg. Plenty of coffee and non-coffee options plus seasonal specials and tons of flavor choices, including sugar free. I opted for a sugar-free dark chocolate latte which was delicious - perfect level of sweetness and just the right temperature. I also ordered an egg and cheese sandwich on naan bread. They have multiple cheese and other bread options. The egg was a little over seasoned but flavor was good. Compared to the major chains and other independent coffee shops, prices here are reasonable. A unique spot with great coffee! My go-to place to take people when they would come out go visit. When you're waiting for your coffee, take a look around the firehouse and check out the cool decor on the walls. On nice days, I loved going in, grabbing a coffee, then sit outside for a while before walking around Fort Monroe. Lots of people bring their dogs too (prob for the same reason as me!) On rainier/colder days, they'd close the garage doors which made the inside cozier, with games available that you can play with friends. My fave coffee shop in the Hampton/NN area! read more

I went in after a walk. I ordered an iced butter pecan latte with almond milk and a honey butter croissant. I was short about a dollar (I didn't want to use my card) so I took off the croissant. We decided to drive around on a Sunday afternoon during the Nor'easter that was hitting the area to see how the water was rising in different areas. My son wanted to try this place as he bikes in the area, so we stopped for a bite to eat. We both had a nice chicken salad sandwich on a croissant and it was delicious. Since it's October, my son had pumpkin ice cream, which he thoroughly enjoyed and I had a cinnamon muffin, which was very good. Friendly folks and a fun atmosphere! So glad we came. We've come here a few times since moving to Virgina Beach last year! Unique coffee shop in an old firehouse. They have food, baked goods, really good coffee, and Hershey's ice cream. Staff is very friendly and they're dog friendly too! Indoor and outdoor seating. We got the lavender latte, chicken sandwich, and pulled pork sandwich on our most recent visit. On our day off, Sophia and I headed here to this little spot located in Fort Monroe. They are located in what was the oldest firehouse for the US Army. The decor inside is priceless. Seating is both inside and outside for your preference. They were even featured for a Friday Flavors segment last year for Channel 13. Question is did it live up to the hype from Yelpers? We were immediately greeted by staff upon entering. I ordered the Pumpkin Spice Latte along with a sausage, egg and cheese croissant. Talk about feeling right at home. The coffee was perfect and the crossaint was very good. Very buttery and came through. Sophia ordered the same and liked it as well. Just like many other places, it looks like we found a new place. This coffee shop was good and interesting - but not stellar. It's been on my list for a year or so - ever since I discovered it one afternoon roaming around on the old base. It is aptly named bc it's located inside an old brick firehouse and is themed with firehouse decor inside. It has mismatched leather furniture and tables chairs inside and so has a charming hangout vibe to it that I like. They have a much larger menu (with a ton of tea available - which was surprising to me) and ice cream and various other items and pastries for sale. The inside is cute and cozy with plenty of places to sit and hang out. We went basic with just an iced latte the day we stopped in and were in and out pretty quickly. I walk with my dog at Ft Monroe at least 3x a week. I've had a few friends say I should check out this coffeehouse and bring my dog. I loved the decor walking in as it stayed true to a Firehouse feel. I asked an employee of dogs were allowed inside and he let me know it's a dog friendly patio but shouldn't be brought inside due to health code reasons. I received a sticker for it being my first time and ordered an Iced Chai with almond milk. The Chai was pretty decent and a drink I'd order again. I also ordered a pupcup for my dog. Located inside an old firehouse this coffee shop offers both indoor and outdoor seating and has lots of fire house memorabilia on the walls to explore. We got the build your own breakfast sandwich on croissants with cheese, sausage and Canadian bacon. Both sandwiches were delicious and large enough to be filling. I am not sure why I have waited so long to write a review for Firehouse -- it's one of the best coffee shops on the peninsula as far as I'm concerned! Located in the old Fort Monroe area, it's a renovated old fire station turned coffee shop. The building alone is worth a visit! Depending on how busy they are, parking can be a bit tricky, but they do have a designated lot next to the building that helps. They have free wifi and a variety of food options -- these seem to keep improving over time. It's a fantastic spot to work as they have both indoor and outdoor seating. Bonus -- once you're done working for the day, the beach is just a few minutes away. You can take a quick walk or read a book for a bit. My only critique as primarily a tea drinker, they don't carry loose leaf teas. Other than that, I enjoy it immensely! read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a long long time because of it being a small business and it's background. Finally tried it over the weekend with visiting family. I got a hot white chocolate mocha with butter pecan and almond milk. It was good. I didn't really taste the butter pecan and my niece got a toasted croissant with honey butter. My mom got an iced caramel latte she really enjoyed that. I think she said the ice looked like it was made with coffee! There wasn't much of a wait for our drinks but we did start to think they forgot the croissant. I will not be going back to this establishment simply because my 4 year old niece had to use the restroom and I was told there is no restroom and to walk down the street to the visitor center and use theirs. . . We chose not to walk In the rain while it's less than 50 degrees outside and we had to leave. It's my understanding any place selling food by health code to also have an available restroom. read more

A favorite stop when I'm in the Phoebus area of Hampton. A charming coffee shop tucked away in an old firehouse- you get your deliciousness with a side of history. On this occasion we ordered an iced coffee, a chai latte, two breakfast sandwiches (one with sausage and one with bacon), and a bag of freshly ground Casemate coffee. When the weather is nice they open the big roll up door and there's additional seating outside. It's a pet friendly place so feel free to bring your pups as well. I was walking at Ft. Monroe recently and it occurred to me that I keep forgetting to check this place out. I went last week on a sunny afternoon. The location is nice, right near the entrance to the moat. Street parking is limited, but there are a few spots on the side and a little parking lot behind the firehouse. I noticed a sign on the back door that said you could go in that way, so I did. The decor is cute and quaint and the staff is welcoming. The place is bright and airy - it's an actual former firehouse with no doors, just plastic flaps to keep the bugs out. Great idea, though I wonder what they do in winter. I ordered an iced mocha and my goodness, it was AWESOME. There was an option to choose dark or white chocolate too! The espresso was the perfect strength, the dark chocolate was rich and the perfect combination of melted and solid. This was one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had, hot, cold brew, or iced. I mean it's up there with 1. the little cafe on 17th St. in Richmond (no longer there) where I first had Illy 2. the special blend at Samantha's in Brooklyn (also no longer there) 3. everything at Blend of Buckroe (also gone) 4. the cold brew from Column 15 that one time I got it with rose syrup 5. and that glorious pingo I had at Cafe Stella in Norfolk. The service is awesome too. The mocha day was beautiful and sunny, so I went outside after ordering and was going to go back in to pick up my order, but she brought it out to me before I had a chance. The second visit was on a busy Saturday. It was packed, I was the only poc present, save one young couple, and there were no weird vibes with the service. Kind of sad that this would be notable in 2021, but it is. I went back the following Saturday and ordered a latte with lavender. The espresso was still good, and the lavender infusion was decent, but nothing beats their mocha.
