Well as most of my followers know I'm not a fan of chain restaurants but I've always liked the First Watch locations I've visited and the Hampton location is no different. Today the wifey and I both got the Traditional. Both with 2 eggs over medium, turkey sausage and potato's. As for the meal - it was very good and hit the spot. Let's talk about service because that's what really shined today. Our server - Zachary (Zac) was absolutely great. I mean this fella greeted us at the door and sat us down. 2-3 minutes later he was collecting our order. Within maybe another 3 minutes we had our drinks and maybe 8 minutes later we had our meals. Zac checked on us several times and kept our drinks full. He was outstanding. Now here is another kicker. During our meal another person (lady) didn't catch her name, I'm assuming a manager, came to our table and the tables around and made sure our meal and time there was good. That was a very unusual service and I noticed how rare that was. So basically a real descent meal with outstanding service. As for the location. It's in a strip mall and had plenty of parking. The restaurant appeared well cared for and clean. We didn't use the restrooms which is often a real tell of a location. So listen if you're hungry, go ahead and give this place a try. I loved the new drink they had, the hibiscus punch. Very refreshing! I was also super excited about my favorite pancake, cinnamon chip. However, it was a little burned. The Hampton location is convenient for me but not my preferred location. Honestly, with the service I received last time I went to visit, I may only want to go to this location moving forward. We were seated outside pretty quickly. If you know the outside area is by a busy road so it is a bit noisy and harder to hear those at the table with you. We didn't mind it this day as we were on a time crunch. I was eager to see if they offered gluten fee French toast as I know it varies by location what they would make off the menu. The server asked if it was per allergy or preference. I let her know I was gluten intolerant, and it was per allergy and wanted to be sure they would prepare it in a safe manner. I was so happy when she told me they could accommodate this. The price was $10.99 . I added a side of fruit for $5.49. A little pricey but I was impressed with the French toast. Well, I was VERY disappointed I ordered the Trifecta Breakfast and the scrambled eggs were somehow not scrambled but fried hard on the edge almost like they left it too long on the grill or something. Cinnamon chip pancake was layer dusted with powered sugar, what made me think I could use syrup on this extra sweet pancake. My sugar intake will hopefully lever off by 2024. Talk about a great morning. For celebrating my birthday (I turned 42 yesterday....yes, on April Fools Day), we headed to this First Watch location in Hampton. The first time we went to FW was years ago in Newport News near our place to hang with friends. What makes them different from other restaurant chains is that their menu is more healthy friendly. The first time we dined out left me completely satisfied. How about the 2nd time around? Usually when it comes to First Watch, it's best to reserve online using their app or website since they get packed early. But this time, we were able to snag a table with no wait time. To start off, I ordered the Morning Meditation Fresh Juice which consists of orange, lemon, tumeric, organic ginger, agave nectar and beets. Not a bad way to start off your meal. Healthy and definitely tasted fresh. For my entree, I picked The Works omelet which is ham, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and cheese along with a side of potatoes and multigrain bread. I can't come up with a word other than satisfying. From the first bite to the last, everything worked together. And to top off the entire visit, my meal was free (except the juice of course). I really want their spice blend for the French toast -- it goes beyond a little cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla that I use when I want to make fancy French toast. Wait staff were attentive without being intrusive. When someone's order of chocolate chip pancakes come out as French toast they were fast and friendly to take it back to the kitchen and replace with pancakes. The only problem is that the coffee is HOT and the cups are substantial, so the coffee has to sit a while before it's drinkable. I'd also rather have plain milk than the shelf-stable 1/2 and 1/2 pods on the table. Worth it though, for the food. read more

Ok that Million Dollar Bacon is deadly! Jesus 530 calories in four slices caramalized with seasoning yeeeesh it's definitely a must have one time. I can't do that again though yikes! Very sweet and chewy as the sugar is literally coated and caramelized the bacon, insane. Had the avocado toast which was good. Toast is very thick and a oat type healthy bread. The avocado is almost puréed with lemon and oil and falls off the toast. The eggs look easy but they must be poached medium. Yummy. And filling. Also tried the parfait which was also very sweet. It is a dessert not a meal and the toast with almond butter and salt was ok but they need more almond butter or thinner toast. It is the sane toast as the avocado toast and is very thick and has oats. Glad I tried this place but next time I'll do healthy only! Prices are high, guessing pandemic has increased costs. Parking is ok there's a large lot shared with many other stores but this place is poppin on a Sat brunch time so be prepared to wait and to search for parking. Foods great customer service is usually "okay" normally. Not my situation, ordered $50 worth of food, drive to pick it up. Get home, and I'm missing my $13 waffle I ordered. I call, phone rings 10 times and disconnects me. I call and do this repeatedly a few times then give up trying to get a home of someone. Finally I get someone ask for a manager they say they are busy which I'm sure they are, she did make me feel heard at first and said she would tell the manager to refund that whole part of the meal and said it would take a couple business days to reflect that refund. Days go by and the charge clears... nothing changed.. I call so many times that at that point it should be a compensation just trying to get a hold of someone throughout the day and no one picks up the phone. It's still been a process just to call and get someone so I have to take time out of my day not to call them but to show up and demean my $13 refund and give my story from a possible minor mistake event that happened days before. If they want to fix this then reach out or refund the overpriced food I never got. Again foods good but I couldn't tell you what the waffle tastes like as I never got that part of my meal. read more

I reserved my place in line on the app before I got there this morning. Once I got there, I had a seat within 5 minutes after arriving. After I had got seated, I was waiting 15 minutes and still, nobody took my order, checked on me, let alone gave me a glass of water. I got fed up because this is the second time this has happened to me. I got up and left which is sad because this is the closest location to my house. I put my name on the list for the location in Newport News since I had great service from last time. I called the restaurant in Hampton to let them know about the issue and the host did not sound apologetic at all. I arrived at the Newport News location and was greeted by the general manager who welcomed me with a great big smile and I vented to her about the Hampton location and she felt terrible. She made sure I was taken care of as well as her staff. The Newport News one is a lot better versus Hampton. I will not be returning to that one again.
