I came here this afternoon at 12:30 pm with a guest and my 3 month old infant in a stroller. I was told by the hostess that the stroller counted as a third person and I would need a table to accommodate 3 people which would be a 2 hour wait. I was told that if I were to leave the stroller in the car and hold/carry her, it would be a 50 minute wait for "two." I opted to go online and make a "reservation" for two and I would put the stroller in the car and hold my daughter for a reservation time of 1:00 pm (only a 30 minute wait). Why do I need to go online while standing in the restaurant to make a quicker "reservation" when I'm standing right in front of the hostess? When checking in for the 1:00 pm reservation, the hostess asked if I was going to hold my daughter or if I wanted a high chair for her. This made no sense as the entire point of me holding her was because I needed a "table for 2." If I was going to be offered a high chair for a baby that can't even sit up yet, I should've been able to keep her asleep in the stroller and still been a table for 2. How is a high chair at that point not considered a third? Her stroller wouldn't have taken up any more room. The whole experience was absurd, made absolutely no sense and was off putting. There has to be better processes in place. Adding that it is 96 degrees outside, so going back and forth with an infant was absolutely ridiculous. read more

This was my first time here and certainly not my last time visiting Milk & Honey! They hit the mark on so many levels. We started out with putting our drink order in. Let me tell you they have some mocktails on the menu. I absolutely love that! I've been saying we have a string market for mocktails. But, the Petron flight is so aesthetically pleasing. I Next we ordered our food. Buttermilk biscuits with an apple compote paired with a streusel topping. You can have the biscuit just the way it is, or put the apple compote on top, and finish it off with the streusel topping and it really is a great mesh of all flavors! The fried green tomatoes were my favorite! You have to put all the ingredients together... the salad, the sauce and the tomato. There was so much flavor! The berry french toast was my favorite sweet treat of all the things I tried. The gumbo was packed full of shrimp, meat, okra and more. The temperature was cool not as hot as I would have liked. But, that's nothing hard. The place does not lack flavor one bit. Our waitress Shana handled our table of 8 with ease. She was on it. There were other food runners helping out as well. Everyone was great! Making a reservation was easy. They were able to accommodate our party The portion sizes meet the price. To some pricing maybe a little much to some, but if you sit back and see what you get both portion and flavor it all adds up. Parking is a large lot shared with various businesses. I have been to Milk & Honey several times in different cities. My current review is on the newest one in Hampton, Va. near Hampton University. While we've been to the restaurant about three times to date, each visit was such a treat! The dishes were all well-prepared with taste and care, as well as their lovely presentation, having been put into each dish. My one concern was that their prices were a bit on the high end, but once you taste their finished products, you will see why. Their welcoming servers, and the overall ambiance, makes it well worth it. We will return! read more

Me and my homegirl went for breakfast. Our waitress Shawna was very nice. She went over the menu and the specials. We split the Fried green tomatoes and the biscuits for the appetizers. My homegirl ordered the traditional breakfast (which was on the seasonal menu) and I ordered the The Wharf Scramble. The fried green tomatoes were good however, you only get 2 for $15. It's buried underneath a spinach salad. The flavors were good, just not for $15. The biscuits were delicious. It came with a peach jam and a sweet potato crumble butter. Both were delicious. We both enjoyed our entrees. The restaurant itself is a bit small. Intimate even. But the music was great and vibe of the place was very nice. Milk and honey was by far one of my favorite visits/brunches while in the Hampton area! Stopped in for a quick Saturday brunch with friends! We were immediately sat and given menus! They had very nice indoor and outdoor sitting! I had the traditional breakfast and it was perfect! The eggs were cooked well, the bacon great and so were the potatoes. We really did enjoy our time here but the prices are higher than they should be for some things. 14$ for a little mimosa? Make it make sense lol.We got two patron towers and it looked nice but they were extremely sweet. The food was pretty good. I got the crispy salmon and cheese hash. The hash has some heat but lacks salt. The cream sauce didn't have much flavor. Compared to the one time I went to Milk and Honey on H street in Dc, the cream sauce was very flavorful. The quality of the food was good. It was fresh. The cheese grits and cheese eggs were perfect. I did not like the maple Caesar salad, but my wife did. In my opinion it was too sweet and the only thing about it that was caesar was the Parmesan cheese. They will allow you to substitute your protein with the fish dishes. It's small restaurant, so make a reservation ahead of time. It's definitely worth trying. It's a place that you go to one time and you know what you might do differently the next time you come. read more

Parking? Great. Food selection? Good. Service? It was both great and not. Food was delivered quickly and as ordered, but when we asked the person making drinks if they could fix a mistake, it was met with disagreement. Only when the server came over and confirmed we had asked for something was it fixed. Located across from Hampton University, the restaurant is located in a strip mall. The inside is small and not that intimate. the floors were slippery. The service was mediocre. The food was not that tantalizing. The wings lacked flavor and were overcooked. The cheesy eggs were not good. The cheesy hash browns were okay. I ended up going to the Milk & Honey restaurant in Springfield, Virginia, and they told me they just opened one here in Hampton. After trying the fried green tomato appetizer up there, I had to come see if it was just as good here. It's good here in Hampton, but the tomatoes in Springfield were a lot thicker -- either way, both had great flavor. This time I got the catfish sandwich with tater tots, a Milk & Honey latte, and the handheld peach cobbler pie. Everything came to about $53, not including the tip. Now, I'll be honest -- it's a pretty expensive restaurant, but it's worth going at least once just to try it out. I was surprised by some of the side prices: the mac and cheese was $11, the candied yams were around $8, the fried green tomato appetizer was about $15, and the shrimp and grits were close to $25. It's just a meh for me. Basic southern cuisine. A bunch of fried stuff, shrimp and grits, greens, etc. It's not bad. It's just basic. I had the fried catfish sandwich and hushpuppies. I tasted a friend's shrimp and grits, greens, and fried deviled eggs (weird). Nothing tastes any different from what you'd find at any soul food spot. It just costs more. read more

First off, we went on a Sunday morning at 8 AM and it was empty! We made a reservation for 830 but they were able to seat us early. The menu was excellent! So many choices for all different flavors and tastes, and there's a kids menu! The food was great, but you know what made the whole visit the best? Our server. She was amazing. The vibe was cool and fun and fresh, and my kid was jammin to the music and I can't say I blame her! The cocktail menu looked divine so I'll have to come back with some friends to check that out. First time at this location and there definitely pros and cons. The size of the restaurant is definitely a negative. It's very small and is not equipped for parties larger than 4. The food was very good and well seasoned I had the shrimp and grits and it was good but not nearly as good as the DC locations. The chicken in the chicken and waffles was tender and cooked properly. As much as I would like to return the size of the restaurant makes it difficult to do so even with a reservation. If you're a party of 2 then it's not a problem but anything larger becomes a challenge. Or show up as soon as they open, that's another option. We tried this restaurant while we were in town for the weekend. The customer service was great but we were disappointed with the food. This place is too pricey to have bad food. The presentation was great but the food lacked taste and flavor. The wings were overcooked and chewy. Shrimp and grits had no taste. Mac and cheese had no taste. At a minimum, everything needed some salt and pepper. I do not recommend. read more

I have been to this restaurant 2x, same location. It is small, but the decor is beautiful. The staff is always super friendly. The first time I went I had to chicken & waffles. Delicious, I had no issues. My friend ordered the fried deviled eggs & the crispy salmon hash. The deviled eggs were salty, she enjoyed the salmon BUT there was only a very thin layer or hash & it was mostly just cheese. Another friend ordered the smothered chicken & biscuits. While the gravy & biscuits were delicious the chicken was very pink in the middle. They were very accommodating when she pointed out the undone chicken. They remade her meal, I don't remember if they comped it tho. 2nd time was Fathers Day weekend. The fried green tomatoes were ok. I enjoyed the spicy guava margarita. We ordered the Cajun pasta for dinner. I had shrimp & crab, my friend had chicken. The pasta was not hitting at all. It had a very slight Cajun taste but it definitely needed more seasoning. I was really excited to try this spot out because I have heard and seen wonderful things about the food and overall experience. This location was a bit tricky in terms of overall convenience and ambiance. It was tucked into a local university shopping center and really did not appear to wow you from the road. The inside had very nice aesthetic but it was SO crowded and it just felt very claustrophobic. Overall, the service was nice but it was a 15 minute wait and the standing room was minimal. It often felt like we were in the way and just in people's individual dining space. The food itself was nice presentation. I got the egg white omelet and it was sub-par. It was very oily and did not have much flavor. I would say the other dishes coming out of the kitchen looked much better. I'm not sure I would return to this location but maybe try another location and a different dish. read more

Honestly I came in for the banana pudding but I stayed for the vibes! Before you guys judge I was craving banana pudding something fierce but I didn't want to make it myself so to google I went! When this spot came up I never even knew they existed, so of course I had to run down and check it out. I ordered the dessert at the bar and sat to wait. My family of 4 ordered the calamari and wings for appetizers, pasta and salmon, chicken and waffles, steak and eggs, along with mac and cheese, collard greens, and yams for entrees. It took the food more than 45 minutes to come out (not an issue), but when it did, the wings were burnt under the "honey oldbay" sauce. The pasta sauce tasted like turmeric. The calamari was good, we ordered 2, one came out after our entrée. The chicken and waffles my son had were way overcooked and dry; the mac and cheese was cold. I'm a southern country girl --literally the worst greens I have ever eaten: no flavor, with a slight burnt taste. My husband and I enjoy good food and don't mind paying for it. He had steak and eggs, which were pretty good but needed salt. We spent about $300 and I feel like the only thing we paid for was the vibe, which was 100% better than the food. Maybe because it was a busy Sunday on Memorial Day weekend. I don't know, but I don't plan on trying this one again. read more

Great colors, great art... someone took pride in the establishment. I ordered the Biscoff Espresso Martini as I LOOOVE a good EM. It was a beautifully presented drink. Just be aware...it was incredibly sweet (to me). I hate sending drinks back, and I tried my best to stomach it, but the bartender understood, suggested next time I order it without the Biscoff syrup I believe (I thought maybe the licor 43), and he took it off my tab. He could tell I was struggling . Wasn't able to stay long enough to order something else but for sure, I drank all my water after. The food was great as well and was a much larger portion than I expected. I ordered the Smothered Chicken and Biscuits and my husband ordered the Honey Old Bay wings. Again, presentation was on point and the food tasted good. Just know that they use a lot of chicken thighs for those expecting white meat . Appetizers had fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs both were good, never had fried green tomatoes the way they dressed up both dishes were fantastic! Decided to try Milk & Honey's new location in Hampton and I was not disappointed. Im thoroughly impressed by the consistency of their food across multiple locations. Taaj was extremely helpful and attentive. He did a great job of making my party feel welcomed and acted quickly when our food item was missing. The restaurant is significantly smaller than other locations creating a more quaint atmosphere. The salmon hash and catfish was cooked to perfection. All in all I would return! read more

First off the ambience was great however they don't have ample seating on the inside. There is seating on the outside weather permitting. The manual is small only about a page. They got a few drinks in the back. The food was decent, I can't say much I ended up just having the eggs turkey bacon and potatoes. (i had the traditional breakfast). My man had the shrimp and grits peach cobbler. The food came out really quick, but it wasn't hot. It was warm temperature food. I don't know if they had just prepared the food all at once and waited on something or if they just prepared the food it took forever to bring it out to us. The menu is on the higher side, but what do you expect these days. My favorite part is they did not shovel down my throat no plastic silverware. I hate plastic silverware!! I repeat I don't think it should even be allowed to be given to a patrons at restaurants. It's so ghetto especially when you're paying $100 for a meal. You almost can't see the restaurant and it's in a little shopping plaza - so even though I saw great reviews, I wasn't expecting too much. But we are definitely returning here when back in the area! My son had the crispy chicken sandwich, with tater tots. I'm not a real french fry or tater tot person - but tried one and thought they were a perfect light crispy crunch. And my son devoured the sandwich. I ordered shrimp and grits. Yum! The shrimp was so good - not some little popcorn shrimp, or limp- just defrosted and heated it up shrimp. And very nice fancy touches - some green sprouts sprinkled on top. The sausage pieces were the right amount of spicy! I also ordered an espresso martini (biscoff I think). I'm glad I did. Sometimes these are too sweet; especially with the vanilla liquer and the biscoff. This was my first time and it'll be my last. The food was good, decently priced, small seating area but our server had such an attitude. I wanted to leave but my sister convinced me to stay since we had already waited. On May 28,2026 my wife and I dined at the Milk and Honey restaurant in Virginia Beach. Good, polite service but slow.We where dining after 6 pm. My wife had the fried cat fish and whiting with fries. I had the Crispy Salmon Hash. My wife's fish had bones in both piece of her fish. Disappointing at best. I had a piece of salmon that was fried so long it taste like sawdust and the bed of hash and I think it was a gravy with a globbe of cheese in the middle.
