After having lunch in the area last weekend, Sophia and I stopped here for some dessert to cap off the afternoon. Joyu has been a very good place when it comes to producing various products. Whether it's boba tea, smoothies or coffee, they rarely disappoint. Let's see how things turned out. We were greeted by the staff once we walked in. Like many times, the decor was spotless and the vibe calm There were a few customers inside either dining in or ordering takeout. We knew what we wanted before entering so it took no time to order. I selected one of their Spring items, Brown Sugar Rose-Berry Freshmilk with brown sugar pearls, in honor of cherry blossoms for the State of Virginia. A very good drink indeed. Not too sweet and full of flavor. Some of the pearls did get stuck together (they were served hot after all), but it was no problem. I'm really big on hospitality and I was actually really excited to try this location. Unfortunately, when I walked in, I was not greeted. I placed my order on one of the kiosk and waited approximately 15 minutes for my iced Vietnamese coffee. I've had Vietnamese coffee before, so I kinda had a preconception of what I was getting myself into. You choose how much ice you would like how sweet you would like and I'd tend to like my coffees on the sweeter side. Let's just say I chose the 75% sweet and I tasted zero sugar. I went with one of my best friends because her and I enjoy coffee but have different taste buds while she enjoys the bitter taste. I enjoy the sweetness of it. She normally will take a black coffee while a latte or cappuccino. Her & I both ordered the same and got the 75% sweet and it worked for her. Unfortunately, it was just too bitter for me to finish. The ambience of this location is cool. I definitely see the vision that they're going for. This is definitely a place where you may just wanna grab and go not really cozy work place friendly. I love the Joyu in VB, so I'm thrilled they opened one here in Hampton. The ladies who work here are super sweet and friendly, and the drinks never disappoint. They offer dairy-free options and plenty of customizations for sweetness and ice level. This location feels much cozier than the one in VB, with a warm and inviting vibe and a decent amount of seating. They also have a complimentary water station, Joyu merch, and a wide variety of desserts and food items. While my husband enjoys the strawberry yogurt from time to time (he says it can be a bit heavy), our go-to is the iced brown sugar fresh milk tea with Joyu foam. The Joyu foam (+$1.25) on top of any drink is amazing and I could honestly drink a whole cup of it. The Vietnamese coffee was spot on--sweet, salty, and creamy though not as sweet as I expected. I was in town visiting and needed a pick-me-up because this Virginia summer heat has been no joke. I ordered the Mango Storm for myself and picked up a few Coco Taros to bring home for the family. Finally! A spot on this side of the water that has croffles! I know there is also a joyu on the other side of the water but i never got a chance to go. The inside is so cute! Very modern and simple. There is a kiosk you can order from, but you can also order at the register. The employee was super nice and gave me direction and assistance as it was my first time there. Cute boba tea cafe in a strip mall next to Marshall's and Wal mart. I know there are other locations in Va beach but I've never been and the drinks always looked delicious! The staff was really friendly and gave me some good recommendations. I ultimately went with the Taro Lava Brown Sugar milk tea with boba and half the sugar... it was delicious but still sweet. My favorite thing about Joyu is that almost everything is customizable. It usually is such a bummer going to other tea shops and they don't have different milk options. I'm so thrilled I can order a Taro tea with oat or almond milk. I stopped in while on my way back to VB from a roadtrip, and this newly opened Joyu did not disappoint! The inside is cute and nicely kept, and there's also a long, comfy sofa to sit in as well at certain tables. My friend and I ordered drinks, and their service seemed a bit slower than usual in getting our orders out especially since we were the only ones in the store, but the place also seemed popular for Doordashers so all of the staff was kept busy. I got the hot chocolate matcha and my friend got the passion fruit peach tea: both drinks were pretty good! One thing I like about Joyu is they don't oversweeten their drinks, so the sugar in both drinks were perfect even at 100%. We got two drinks: one large Moonlite Lychee Tea with regular (100%) sugar and regular (100%) ice and one large Strawberry Lemon Tea with regular (100%) sugar and regular (100%) ice and strawberry toppings. Both drinks were delicious and refreshing. I kid you not, but my partner literally went in and got another one after we walked to the vehicle. I highly recommend this unique tea/coffee establishment. I love my Thai tea from Joyu, every time I go in it's friendly and fast service. Tonight I especially enjoyed my fast service. The two girls (one with purple hair and one with dark hair with the panda pin) are my favorites because every time I come in they somehow know EXACTLY how I like my drink. I've also gotten good advice on what treats to order too!! They gave me some tips on what to try after I've let them know my preferences.
