Mango French Toast Turkey Sausage
Brit W.

Loved it! Popped in on a Wednesday to check it out before Hampton HC festivities kicked off. It was just before noon and not crowded, but the lunch crowd began making its way in over the next hour. Service was friendly, attentive and prompt. I was immediately seated. I had mango mimosa, mango French Toast and the turkey sausage and loved everything! The flavor and seasoning of the French Toast allowed me to enjoy each bite. The turkey sausage was homemade patted and had a good balance of seasoning; not spicy nor salty. And the decor is beautifully done and very delightful to see upon entering. This is a must try if you are in the area! I'm glad yelp sent me!

Perfect brunch date and how cool that they were on Shark Tank. Went here twice-- first time with the bestie, second time on a couples date. Such a fun time for everyone! I cannot get over their mango preserve! Loved it with the fruits. Everything we ordered was delicious. We got the chesapeake benedict (yum!), chicken fried benedict, shrimp & grits, sledge skillet (amazing presentation), croissant basket, and a flight of virgin mimosas. It can get busy on the weekends so be sure to go early. Around noon on Saturday, it was about a 40 minute wait. The next Saturday, we were there at 10 am and were seated instantly. Definitely coming back and bringing more friends.

Food was seasoned to perfection! Service was quick and full of recommendations. The place is cute and cozy. I truly enjoyed my visit and will definitely return!

Mimosa

I stopped in for a quick bite and a beverage of the alcoholic persuasion. I wanted a speciality drink that was in their menu board but was told it wasnt available. So I ordered a mango mimosa and the crawfish beignets. I had a small wait for my food because they were making them fresh. They were light and fluffy with a delightful tangy filling and they didn't skimp out on the crawfish. I do wish there was a bit more filling since not every bite had filling or sauce. The restaurant was open and full of natural light which was a very comforting feeling. If you are in the area it is definitely worth a detour.

My delicious shrimp and Magnolia Shrimp & Grits

This was my first time visiting it. We went for a restaurant week and I was very pleasantly surprised! The food was excellent. We had the set menu that came for lunch for restaurant week. It was a lovely salad, shrimp and grits and a beignet for dessert. We also ordered the mango mimosa which was delicious.. The service was wonderful. Our server was very attentive, even though it was very busy. The ambience was really fun with lots of bright orange all over the place in this old beautiful house down in Phoebus. I will definitely go again.

Came here try out their Cajun dishes and ordered the gumbo. It was good. Looking forward to coming back for their shrimp and grits.

I have been wanting to try this place for years, but I've been putting it off. I finally went and I was surprised with the prices of the food compared to the quality. The prices are expensive but the food does not have exceptional favor and it's a very limited menu--except the beignets. The beignets were a delight--not Cafe Du Monde's, but the best beignets I've had in VA. The crab Benedict was very underwhelming--expensive with very little crab. The chicken fried chicken was decent, expensive for it not to come with a side. I would return to try dinner.

When I first walked in, I came from the back and it was a little offputting because I didn't know. I'll be in the back of the restaurant. As far as how narrow the space was, they didn't really have any clear " go to the front sign" so I wasn't sure if I should've gone to the bar. Again, this is really just based on how the layout is. The server came and asked me if I had a reservation and I told him yes someone who came in about five minutes before me and put one in he was kind of arguing with me that they don't do same-day reservations and I was telling him she literally just came in and put it in. anyways, once in the front checked, it's in there. He's like your table will be about five minutes. OK, no problem. I found my party. We end up walking around the area. Once we came back to the restaurant, we were seated now based solely on the Food-to-price ratio. It is on the pricier side for the amount of food you are getting. I did see some people had fried chicken entrée which looked very filling however, I got the Chesapeake Benedict as my main course and I added a side of andouille sausage and that was eight extra dollars. ..... again what I got compared to the cost doesn't balance out that much for me. The food was good however, someone else on my table got fried fish with grits. And the grits look super plain for a restaurant that is Creole-inspired.

Have you ever had NeoSoul rolls? Me neither, until today! They're bomb! In short, it's your soul food favs ( greens, rice, black eye peas, Mac & cheese, etc.) wrapped and fried into an egg roll. Doesn't sound good, does it? Well I'm here to report, don't knock it until you've tried it. I really enjoyed those NeoSoul rolls especially pairing the with their mango lemonade. My daughter ordered their chicken sandwich and she gave it a 10/10! All of their food was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The service was good and the ambiance was clean and cute. I couldn't give 5 stars because my NeoSoul rolls took awhile to come out. My daughter was almost finished with her meal by the time I got mine... but the rolls were worth the wait!

04/2024 This place never misses on the food, honestly the consistency of the food for brunch is just amazing. Kudos! I had the shrimp n grits which I've had since my 1st visit and it was delicious as per usual. Even the cup of gumbo was still tasty. Ended the meal with the must have beignets. My friends had the chicken with French toast and they both loved it. I just wish they would expand and get a bigger location, the only thing that keeps me from this place is the wait times because of the small seating space.

Mussels

Came to VA for a wedding and wanted a niice AM snack. Mangos was such a clean little restaurant with a beautiful ambiance and staff. The mussels were PEI mussels in this amazing Cajun creole broth that was absolutely decadent. The broth was an amazing new taste for mussels. I will definitely be back whenever im.back in Virginia. The most palette seducing item was the peach beignet for dessert.

Cute front

Stopped here on our way back to northern Virginia Sunday to try their brunch! So the surrounding area looked a bit sketchy but don't let that keep you away! The restaurant was vibrant both outside and inside. It was clean and welcoming with colors matching its name! Their menu looked awesome and I wish I could have tried more items! Our server was attentive and polite. The only thing I would approve on would be the sweet tea and coffee, both tasted watered down: But not a big deal at all. We ordered the fried chicken and French toast and the fried fish with grits! We cleaned our plates...it was that good! Full of flavor and fried perfectly. Mine came with some of their signature mango preserves which was absolutely divine. I had to order me a full jar to take home! We will definitely be bringing our kids with us next time!

Ask the Community - Mango Mangeaux

How much does lunch usually cost?

$13-16

What's a good time to arrive for breakfast on Saturday? Is there usually a long wait?

Arrive as close to opening as you can. Often their wait later on will exceed their operating hours and they will turn people away hours ahead of time.

But do they have bottomless mimosas?

No but they have mimosa flight with 4 different flavors and full mimosas not just a small one. BUT it's $24 bucks

Now the restaurant service left much to be desired. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable but scarce. After at least 15 minutes she finally approached the table saying she thought we wanted to catch up. How nice. But we are here to eat lunch. Here's a tip. If I say please give us some time to chat then come back in 15 minutes, THEN do that. My eggs and grits bowl was good and the turkey sausage patties were inedible. Also for some reason they always serve a mix of sweet and white potatoes. I do not eat sweet potatoes ever. Dana I beg you stop putting them in everything from soup to entrees. The salad bowl is an odd shape and difficult to manage. No place to set a utensil on the lip. The vibe is industrial cool and very spacious. More attentive service and some food changes would be better.

My vanilla cupcake was hard, and the icing for all were not too sweet. I prefer sweet icing. These were more of a whipped icing. But, that's just preference. Each cupcake was $4.50, which I think was spot on. They were bigger in size. I don't think I'll be getting anything else from the bakery at this time. There are so many cute, fun items in the store. I plan to stop back to get a few things I saw. Once I was done at the bakery store side I headed over for lunch. I was seated at a booth, chair combo seating. The booth was really comfortable. Our waiter was really good. He was attentive made sure our drinks were filled. He answered any questions we had. My starter was the Chesapeake Bay crab dip. That dip was one of the best I have had! Melty cheese, with wonderful flavor! It came out piping hot a d was paired with crispy yet soft pita rounds. I opted for the BBQ Brisket on a sweet potato bun. The bun was really delicious. I was happy the waiter informed me that this was not a hand held sandwich, but more of a fork and knife kind of dish. My side was a salad. The lemon dressing was amazing. My friend also had the same dressing and she raved about it as well. Over I'd like to return and try out more dishes and maybe some of their breakfast items I've heard good things about the Brunswick stew as well . The location is in Phebus and I think it is a really great area to be at .

Our waitress was wonderful throughout our entire experience. She was very attentive. She was able to answer any questions we had. I love that they had options for mock tails, but I do wish they were on the menu. I feel like mock tails are becoming a really big thing sometimes it's nice to come out and not get an alcoholic drink and not have to be stuck with soda, tea or waterHaving a mocktail is a really nice option. There were six of us dining, and we all got different dishes, which was nice to see everyone's meal. The meals were pretty good. They were definitely pricey. Some of them. I understood the asparagus was a little more expensive than we were expecting. The brioche rolls were really pretty good and the citrus butter was perfect. It was not overpowering. My chicken was very flavorful the way they cook it definitely kept it moist. For dessert, I opted for the vanilla crème brûlée. The problem I had was the crème brûlée was overcooked. It was the texture of scrambled eggs. It wasn't smooth. The rest of the desserts really just did not meet our expectations. I really had high hopes for that. I would definitely return when the menu changes, but I don't think I'd be bringing my entire family to save money lol

A Hidden Gem in Hampton - Mill Creek Tavern Delivers Every Time!…read more Mill Creek Tavern is one of those amazing local spots that makes you feel like you're in on a best-kept secret. No frills, no fluff -- just great food, cold beer, and genuinely friendly service. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, with one pool table, a few big TVs for the game, and a small bar top that gives it that classic neighborhood feel. On our most recent visit, my friend and I both went with the special: country fried steak with okra and lima beans -- absolutely delicious. You can mix and match sides, and my friend's pasta salad was clearly homemade, perfectly balanced and not drowning in mayo. The beer was ice cold, and the food came out fast. Service was excellent -- friendly, efficient, and we had multiple check-ins throughout the meal without ever feeling rushed. Their burger menu is another highlight (I've had a few over the years -- always solid), and the back patio is a great touch. Covered seating with umbrellas makes it easy to enjoy rain or shine. Parking is a bit limited, but there's usually space around back near the patio if you loop around the building. Sure, walking in might feel a little intimidating if you're not a regular -- it's a cozy, no-nonsense spot -- but inside, it's as friendly and down-to-earth as it gets. Don't miss out on this local treasure. Go once, and you'll see why so many keep coming back!

I'm so glad we found it. This place does have a small private parking lot, which is a good thing for the area. The interior was nice, large, and seemed very clean. Plenty of seats inside and a few tables outside. The fella who served us was very nice, pleasant, and took care of us. Now let's get to our meals: Holy mud were they good. The wifey had The Jim Boy. Which is a couple of eggs, a couple of sides, potatoes, and toast. She tells me the whole meal was very good with the potatoes being the flavorful standout. As for me, I had The Lumberjack. Wow was it good. It was smashbrowns topped with 3 eggs your way, fried chicken breast, sausage gravy, and a buttermilk biscuit on the side. Their website pictures were different from how it was presented to me today (not that it means a thing). Again what a wonderful flavor. The biscuits were great and the sausage gravy was fantastic! I will say this it is a very filling meal - you will not be hungry after eating this. So with all this said, I highly recommend this place and I'm sure I will be back. I might even try to hit it for lunch next time. So if you're looking for a place - go ahead and enjoy this place.
