Took a jog few weeks ago at Fort Monroe and stumbled upon this cutie intimate spot. Was so glad it was open with the pandemic going on. Happy faces and great service was given! Couldn't have asked for more but then the food was great and smoothie was perfect. Today was in the 90's so light food and cold drinks were needed. I ordered the turkey deli sandwich with provolone and on a croissant. I love a good croissant lightly toasted. Food was brought out to the cute little umbrella covered tables in front. I will be back again next Sunday for the same meal...call me a new regular. Thanks for giving me a little sunshine in these hard times. Forgot to mention, they have ice cream and waffle cones and are super dog friendly. It's nice to just be around happy people again. Located within the walls of the former Army Fire Department in Fort Monroe, I fell in love with this coffeehouse the minute I parked up outside. Boasting plenty of character from the moment you walk in, you cannot help but feel patriotic and proud. The drinks menu has a great selection to choose from. The customer service was spot on, we felt very welcomed from the moment we stepped in, and the pricing wasn't bad either. Clean, inviting, bursting with color inside, with secret nooks to hide in - relaxation at its best! I got myself a vanilla latte and was given the option of syrup (sugar free or normal) and milk (I requested non dairy, they had oat milk or soy, can't remember now - sorry!) There's also food and some treats available if your sweet tooth is calling your name. Merchandise is available to buy, the coffee mugs would make a great gift for any former Fort Monroe military or anyone who is proud of the story of this Fire Department turned Coffeehouse. The prices are fair for the amount you receive. All of the staff are friendly and they offer punch cards! They carry my favorite tuna salad sandwich in the area! This place is a gem tucked away in Hampton. Staff was very friendly and clearly a mom and pop store. They have great outdoor seating and a cozy inside area that somehow made my coffee taste even better! All their beans are organic and I thought that was going to drive the price up but they manage to keep it cheap and affordable. They have select blends and only have a few out at a time but the woman behind the counter can tell you exactly what to expect. As I sat outside to drink my coffee I could only chuckle as I heard the people inside yelling like a typical family would do. This is an awesome spot tucked away on Fort Monroe! The perfect place to meet up with friends or grab a cup of coffee before strolling around Fort Monroe. It's in an old firehouse - the oldest army fire brigade in America. My husband and I stopped and he had a hot white chocolate mocha, which was really good. Not as sweet as what you would get at Starbucks but definitely delicious, with high quality coffee beans. I had a pineapple strawberry smoothie and it was great. Not overly sweet but refreshing. The atmosphere is so cool - lots of fire house paraphernalia, some trucks and stuff for kids to play with. They have ice cream, bakery items, and other stuff as well. There are really comfy couches and lounge chairs, tables, and nice outdoor seating as well. The drinks were perfect and the atmosphere was stellar. Excellent! I've been here twice. Have brunch and go for a walk at Ft. Monroe! There's plenty of parking. Food is simple but delicious, coffee is great, reasonable price. Staff is friendly and quick. this is the second time in two weeks that I have gone in here, and at least one of the employees was not wearing a mask as well as some of the customers. Even though there is a sign saying it would be enforced. In addition, they put coffee in my chai tea latte, and then argued with me that it should have coffee in it and that I was wrong to think that it shouldn't be included. meanwhile I've been drinking it for 20 years, I never drink coffee, and have Googled 10+ recipes and none of them include coffee when you look at chai tea recipes. thought it was very strange that they would be so argumentative but at least they remade the drink for me without charging for it. But I can promise you a chai tea latte does not have coffee in it at chain or in any local establishements I have ever purchased it from throughout the US and Canada. I love walking on the fort, I want to see this place thrive, but I hope they consider some improvements to their customer service, their attitude regarding the menu being questioned and respecting the current order in VA to wear masks. The breakfast sandwiches are delicious and I would rate this five star it wasn't for the argument that ensued when I questioned coffee being mixed in with my tea, and the lack of wearing masks by workers and customers. I will probably go back to give this place one more try, hoping third time's a charm. But not until covid has subsided. read more

Today was the first time I have really taken time to enjoy food. We were blessed to have a table outside in such nice weather. With the recent events going on and having limited interactions it was nice to stumble upon this Ft. Monroe gem. I had the chicken salad on wheat with cheddar, I was in heaven! The grapes inside the chicken salad were so fresh and crispy they burst like little fireworks in my mouth. I had it paired with a strawberry mango smoothie. The set up is amazing! Some of the staff has been warm and welcoming, however, other staff to include one of the owners has been less than kind to our large family. My boys who are 5&3 love anything fire fighter. We thought we could go and sit outside and enjoy the nice weather and do our school. The manager closed the doors so we couldn't go back and forth between the cafe, he took in the bin of chalk (that we had bought the week prior and donated to the cafe), when my children asked one of the baristas if they could use the restroom they were pointed to the back room where they proceeded to use the bathroom, the owner approached me and told me the cafe wasn't a free for all and they couldn't just go to the bathroom unattended. I was confused because they had asked to use the facilities and were told they could! I really love how this place is in an old firehouse and my kids would love to play and enjoy the fire trucks but we do not feel welcome here anymore. Hoping this saves other families the time they would waste if they wanted a family centered coffee house like we thought this was. read more

This is such a cute spot! The bf and I were on our way to Fort Monroe and I convinced him to stop for coffee, and I'm so glad we did. It's literally inside of an old firehouse, and they have a ton of memorabilia up on the walls. It's also extremely close to the fort entrance, so it's easy to pick up a cup before you head in. Although it wasn't busy, there was plenty of parking. They have coffee, food, ice cream, and even dog treats if you brought your furry friend to the fort. The staff were nice and appropriately masked, and the tables were spaced out (though we got our coffee to go). The coffee tasted great, and I'd be happy to come back some time. read more

Firehouse Coffee is a welcomed addition to Hampton, VA. This was a much needed local coffee shop/cafe. It also has made great use of the available real estate on Fort Monroe. They offer a great selection of coffee with solid flavoring options dependent upon your tastes. There is also a small breakfast and lunch menu. I've personally eaten some of the breakfast items and they are very good for what they are. Nothing special there, but they are good! What I love most about this spot is its unique interior and cozy interior. The coffeehouse is literally an old firehouse. We enjoyed delicious ice cream and coffee from Firehouse Coffee. The atmosphere is very comfortable and welcoming, with lots of interesting Firehouse memorabilia, couches and armchairs. We enjoyed playing chess and checkers while waiting for our orders, and appreciated the family-friendly environment as we had our young children with us.
