We went to First Watch at 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon. It was our first visit since it had opened. The remodel of the space felt warm and open. There was no wait. We were greeted pleasantly and seated immediately. Our server was pleasant and efficient without being overbearing. The menu was diverse. We ended up ordering a salmon tzatziki toast, a quinoa chicken power bowl, a chicken chop salad/sandwich combo and three kids meals. The food arrived accurately and in a timely manner. The food was all very fresh and well presented. All six of us were very pleased with our meals and service. It was a very nice, relaxing brunch. Will definitely return. read more

First Watch - The Traditional breakfast - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Ft Collins, Colorado

My wife and I just got home from what was to be a nice breakfast at First Watch, the newest place on the south side of town. She had two slices of french toast and I had an order of biscuits with strawberry jelly. I can hardly begin to explain how lackluster and COLD the food was. No effort was taken to keep anything warm, and everything (except the coffee) arrived cool to cold. The temperature in the place was 66 degrees. After I complained to the guy at the door, a lady *finally* walked to the thermostats and changed them from 66 to 70 degrees. Still pretty cool for a Saturday morning when it was 65 degrees outdoors, but at least more bearable. I was glad I had brought a light jacket. To the food though: The coffee was just terrible. TERRIBLE! I was in the coffee business (I was a coffee roaster and owned three coffee businesses) for 37 years, so you can believe me when I tell you what they serve (for $2.89) was little more than slop. It was *only* good for being a hot beverage with breakfast. It was so low quality it probably had a lot of caffeine (because that's the way it works), but I couldn't drink it, so it didn't really matter. I kept our waiter, Jack, busy. I am not one to quietly eat crap and not complain. Our favorite restaurant just down the road, was mentioned (by me) more than a few times during our visit. As in "we can be there in five minutes". My wife wanted to stick it out though. Her french toast arrived tasteless and cool, too. So sad. Apparently, they are not aware of plate warmers, which would have helped immensely. It's ez . . . put a stack of plates in the spring-loaded warmer, and they actually keep the food warm. These plates made the food cold because they were cold. The side order of biscuit that I ordered, for $2.49 was at least edible, once Jack had the cook put it back on the grill to heat it up. They don't make them fresh like Dave's does. I asked Jack if the biscuits were made fresh, and he described the process to me. Edible is about all I can say for it though. It came with four little containers of Smuckers jelly (choices were strawberry and/or grape). That was fine, because I love Smuckers strawberry. They were only half full though . . . you can order them that way if you are a large company . . . and very irritating to have to peel them open and deal with the foil and plastic mess made by that process. The butter was the usual "whipped" butter. Real butter has air literally whipped into it, then scooped into balls with a hand scoop. Looks good, but it's a bunch of air. And chunky. I read of other people talking about how cute and adorable the place is. I didn't notice. I could care less, really, how the place looks, as long as it's clean. It was clean. No complaints. But the atmosphere was "hard". Nothing soft to absorb the sound or provide comfort. When you combine that with the poor food, I will say that they should feel lucky that they got two stars for me. Thank Jack for that. Someone had the foresight to hire him. Maybe lunch is better. I shouldn't condemn a place with just one visit, but it's hard not to. They've been here long enough to have settled in. Maybe they have a new cook who just doesn't get it. I'm afraid we may not make it back though, to find out. read more

This was our first and last visit. We tried the Oakridge location. Morning and the restaurant wan't very busy. I'm not a fan of metal chairs, so we got a booth. I don't consider myself a picky eater, but the menu didn't excite me. My companion's salmon & veggie frittata seemed to be missing the salmon and the portion was small. My seasonal specialty of truffled wild mushroom was bland beyond belief. More shallots than mushrooms. The fruit side was generous and fresh. The ciabatta toast too dry. Service was fine. The manager tried her very best to make things right, but I am sure we will not be returning. read more

Went this morning to find egg & I but found first watch in its place. Pleasantly surprised to say the least. I went there with my two kids under 5 and had nothing but wonderful service and friendly staff. Food was delicious, prompt and it was a great atmosphere. My server Ellie was absolutely wonderful, polite and so great with my kiddos. I absolutely recommend this cafe to anyone. read more

I finally decided to try the First Watch restaurant on College on Harmony in Fort Collins. I though their food was very pedestrian and would compare it to Denny's or IHop (I like the food at Village Inn better). I would have given them a three star rating except that they closed an excellent "The Egg and I" in order to open this mediocre restaurant ): You'd think they would have at least tried the food at "the egg" before installing their inferior menu. First off I miss The Egg and I. My wife and I thought we would give it a try since the change, so away we went on Sunday morning, 10-15 minute wait, not terrible, I've waited longer. We are seated and the menu reads like it was written by the leader of the always eat organic movement. In the upper right hand corner is where you will find what old folks eat, eggs, pork sausage and toast, the rest of the menu (both sides) ...meh! Coffee is served, I ask for Sweet 'n Low, nope says she, all we have is raw brown sugar and Stevia (which tastes terrible to me), so I go with 4 packs of raw sugar to equal one package of Sweet 'n Low. Food comes with exactly what I ordered, although the potatoes did taste a bit off. They cooked the potatoes with onion, I didn't want potatoes in the first place and damn sure didn't want them cooked with onion. The prices were a bit steep for no more then what we ate and that alone would keep me from going back. So it's back to the Village Inn, which we really like, and I'm sure First Watch won't miss two old farts. BTW, the service was great. read more

This is very similar to Jessie Farms, but at a much better price! Everything here is very fresh, and they have incredibly healthy options. Vegan options are lacking, but talk to your waiter. They will be happy to help with anything. Waitstaff is super friendly. read more

Always good! Love the quaint, pretty patio with the aspens blowing. Even though we usually eat breakfast in old town, I love going here because the patio is really one of the nicer ones in Fort Collins if you want to be somewhere less crowded on a weekend morning or for brunch. read more

So disappointed to see The Egg & I replaced with this restaurant. If something isn't broken don't try to fix it. Now that it is broken PLEASE fix it. I wanted this place to be good because the location was convenient. The carnitas bowl on the summer menu gave me hope. It was good enough to come back for but they were out of the corn bread which was a key part. So I tried the smoked salmon frittata. When it showed up the frittata part resembled the eggs included in a free breakfast at a cheap hotel. Then it got worse. I tried it. The smoke salmon was so old it should have been used as catfish bait. When I checked out I got the standard "how was everything?" Which most people reply "fine" but I can't help it I tell the truth "The salmon was so old it was inedible" to which the cashier replied "it's hard to get fresh salmon in Colorado" I thought "unless you know how to get to a grocery store" but I kept quiet thinking this person doesn't care Another time I tried the millionaire bacon I swear a vegan prepared it and was deliberately making it bad so I would avoid eating meat in the future read more

It was fine...not dazzling. Worst biscuit and gravy I've ever had. Gravy was like paste. Side of fruit was very fresh and tasty. Eggs were eggs. Toast was the showstopper...good bread. A friend recommends the lemon ricotta pancakes.
