Urban Egg -Johnstown is my go to place for breakfast and brunch (and even lunch) in the area. I went a few times in short order and enjoyed it so much I kept returning. The food is very fresh and the choices are vast. Something for everyone here so young and old will enjoy their meals here. It does get busy on weekends and holidays but is steady at other times as well. Only open till two, I suggest you go earlier. Good to consider is the 3 Egg breakfast with the bacon and fruit, the pancake flight with the Cinnamon Roll pancake as well as the regular pancake flight, The Cure drink, The ABCLT with salad. Plus the omelets are good as well. The only thing we found that wasn't great on the menu were the hash browns on multiple visits so sub them out if you can. They also don't seat parties together always even when tables open up near the first party so be aware of that. Other than that a great place! You can be seated inside or out. Service is generally very good. Parking is easy right outside. There are restrooms that are clean. There is a bar in the back. So many great things to be eaten here so come hungry! read more

We had an errand to run in Timnath and wanted to stop for a nice brunch. Urban Egg popped up in my search and as soon as I saw blue corn huevos rancheros, I knew we had to check it out. The restaurant was busy for a Sunday morning but after 15 minutes, we were promptly seated. The waitress was fast, friendly, and efficient. The huevos rancheros did not disappoint. The tortillas were crispy and the perfect median for over easy eggs. It had just enough spice to make me keep coming in for another bite! read more

My daughter and I headed to Urban Egg STARVING. PSA if using Maps for directions - it took us through an alley but actually the restaurant faces College Ave. We were warmly greeted by Sam who ended up being our server. We immediately had drink orders taken and recommendations offered. The menu has something for everyone- pancakes, French toast, chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, bennys, omelets, and the there is a healthy choice menu as well as gf items; Non alcoholic as well as alcoholic cocktails, juices, and coffees available. I ordered a cappuccino to start with and it had a TON of froth on top- perfection! My daughter had a juice drink called the Cure- it was a bit heavy in the coconut water for her taste but it was delicious and came with a fresh slice of pineapple. We selected The breakfast sandwich and the blue corn huevos rancheros and we split a side cinnamon roll pancake. Let's talk perfection in a pancake-- this topped anything I've ever tasted- the fluffiest, softest, flavorful pancake. Perfect drizzles of cinnamon sugar covered with frosting. So so good. Lemon ricotta pancakes will be the choice next time. Didn't need syrup but it came warm and, heck yeah! Both our dishes came with hash browns which for our preference could have used a bit more crisp and salt( salt easily remedied). The breakfast sandwich had scrumptious, thick sourdough and generous portions of bacon, with pesto aioli and eggs of choice. Every bite was eaten, even the crusts -(adulting)! The huevos rancheros were tasty- perfect base of crunch but the main attraction was the soft and flavorful scrambled eggs and chorizo topped with Avacado crema. Taste buds satisfied as well as our hunger. Although we came in starving we had food to spare. Sam was attentive and friendly and we lingered in a comfortable setting. Went here with a few friends and my wife for brunch. The establishment was pretty packed but the wait was only about half an hour. The service was good, Amanda, our server, was entertaining and familiar with us. For food I ordered the protein bowl. It was decent, having a few different kinds of meat including ham, bacon, and sausage. The service size was small unfortunately. I would come here again but with more appropriate expectations. This was my first time ever trying it and it wasn't too bad. I ordered the Rocky Mountain corn beef hash and a mango mimosa. The corn beef hash was really good. You could tell it was homemade and not from a can. I like how some of the edges were crispy. It's a really big meal so don't eat before you go if you get this. My mimosa was delicious as well. Urban Egg is my go-to brunch place. The food never disappoints, the staff is friendly and, by now, know my husband and I as regulars and they have bomb mimosas---especially the pineapple Maui-Wowee, which has pineapple infused vodka in it. My favorite dish is the Tuscan eggs benedict, which is just so amazingly good. They also do biscuits and gravy justice, which you don't typically see outside of the south. They are on the Yelp waitlist app, and I highly recommend you use that if you want to avoid an hour plus wait on the weekends. Also have a rewards program with free and half price rewards as well as a free pancake on your birthday and anniversary. If you have seen their pancakes--they are almost as big as your head and absolutely delicious. read more

This was the first time I've had a sub par experience here. And it was all the way around. I was sat at a dirty table even though close to half the tables were empty. My biscuit was over cooked and too dry to eat. Also, it's the only time I've ever had bad service here. It took me over 30 minutes to get my waitresses' attention for a refill on my water. Meanwhile she kept walking past me and my table to wait on the tables to either side of me. My mouth was so dry that I had to stop eating. Over all terrible experience this time. We visited Urban Egg on a Sunday and waited about 25 minutes to be seated. The restaurant was extremely busy and quite loud, which made the wait feel longer. I ordered a chai drink that was absolutely delicious, while my husband had orange juice, which he said was good. For my meal, I asked for avocado toast, but the waitress seemed confused unless I used the full name--"Tate's Avocado Toast." When it arrived, it came with very well-done bacon that was tough and difficult to chew. The accompanying salad was enormous and filled with tomatoes, which wasn't mentioned on the menu. Since I'm allergic to tomatoes, I had to pick many of them out and ended up eating very little of the salad. I had requested the gluten-free option, but the bread was dense and sticky--not very enjoyable. The avocado portion was actually guacamole, which technically fits the description but isn't what most people expect when ordering avocado toast. My husband ordered the chorizo burrito and felt it was mostly tortilla with little flavor. The side of hash browns was bland, even after adding a generous amount of salt. Overall, we were disappointed with the food. I ate about a quarter of my meal, and my husband finished roughly half of his. We left shortly after. With so many breakfast options available, Urban Egg needs to step up its game--we don't intend to return. read more

We always love going to Urban Egg! The food is delicious. There are lots of great options, both healthy and carb-heavy, so you can eat here for a healthier breakfast/brunch or an indulgent one. I often go for an egg breakfast, an omelette, or the Tatum's original avocado toast. My wife loves the biscuits and gravy. My daughter loves the kids' pancakes, waffles, and fruit sides. The service has always been great. We are seated as promptly as is reasonable, though sometimes the restaurant can get really busy. Be sure to get on the waitlist before you head out. This location sounds like a bar inside. That's fine by me - just be aware that it's almost never quiet if that's what you're looking for. Sitting on the patio gets you a much quieter meal if it's nice out. read more

We were in from out-of-state and we visited twice in a matter of three days. Food was delicious. Loved the huevos rancheros with chorizo and the Bloody Mary grilled cheese. The pineapple Hawaiian pancake is scrumptious. Not too sweet, but fresh chunks of pineapple and coconut on it. We were told it would be about 15 minutes for us to get a table. People that came in after us have been seated so we went to check on our table. The hosts realize she had put our phone number in the system wrong so then she added it after that more people that came in after us were seated. When she finally got to us, she could only offer two seats at the bar. At the bar, the server was slow and another person brought our food out. She was missing a plate of our food and acted like we were an inconvenience for asking for it. She also failed to bring silverware. So the food we had couldn't be eaten until we waited for her to come back from the kitchen with the other plate of food. When we got seated, I told the hostess I expected to discount of our bill because we waited 50 minutes for a table and we're skipped twice. When the bill came, there was no discount.
