I have never had a restaurant do this. I took my son to the bathroom for one minute and they threw all of our food away... after we asked for a to go box even. Wasted time and money. If you go here don't turn your back on your food that you purchased, they will throw it in the trash. read more

We visited at 10:15 a.m. on a Tuesday morning. It was not busy you seat yourself we then waited 10 minutes for anyone to come get our drink order or acknowledge us. We ordered food it was ok nothing great , our Pepsi's were flat not carbonated & when we mentioned it we were questioned,our waitress never checked on us no one said anything to us to see how our food was & then handed us the bill. Restrooms super dirty & floor to bathroom needs repair. This used To be a good place but no longer is. read more

So my review is for Colorado Curry, which is inside of Grandpa's. When you sit down you'll get both menus; both restaurants are inside of the same building. It's not immediately obvious from the outside. The host and servers were very friendly. I had the shrimp biriyani with raita and an iced chai. The spice level was great and the portion was large for the price. The food overall was good; we tried the vindaloo, chicken tikka curry and saag paneer. In general the flavors were good but a little over cooked. Naan was fluffy and everything was hot. read more

I think this place is in financial trouble and will be sold or closed soon, or else it is under new management who does not know what they are doing. Heard this place was super good. Apparently, they just went under new ownership recently, because this was worse than most TV dinners. So disappointed! The French Toast was soggy bread. The chicken fried steak looked like it was frozen from the grocery store and heated. The gravy definitely couldn't be homemade. The eggs are the liquid ones from a carton. The place is clean, including the toilet, service was friendly and prompt, the food was good! My wife had the french toast, my son had the bacon and eggs, and I had the corned beef hash and sour dough toast. It has a quiet and homestyle atmosphere that I'd recommend to visit! We happened to be driving through Berthoud heading home from Longmont, my husband suggested we try this place after been hearing about it for a long time (since before they moved to this current location). Once inside, we were a bit confused that there were 2 different menus, one was Grandpa's cafe (seemed like) original menu with burgers and fries. The other one was Indian cuisine. However, I didn't hesitate to grab the latter! The owners were very nice and welcoming, the atmosphere was great and clean. What do I say, I'm in love! Best way to please my family as we love both cuisines. Their burgers (and other items) were huge, definitely bang for your bucks. My saag paneer with naan was absolutely amazing, too. This little gem is in the small town of Berthoud, CO. The atmosphere is quite and very clean. The staff was friendly. We were there for breakfast. The breakfast burrito was good size and the medium sauce that smothered burrito was a little spicy hot so I would hate to know what the hot was like. The portions for everything we had was perfect. We did not order the hamburger but saw one being delivered and "OMG" the hamburger was about 6 inches in diameter and about two inches high. I'm not sure if one person can finish that monster. Next time we go will be in the afternoon to try one of those beasts. read more

These were without a doubt the best burgers we have ever had! The fries were great, as was the green chili. Order the mild if you don't like it hot! When I thought to visit Grandpa's in the small former farm town of Berthoud, CO for breakfast I thought I'd be getting a good ole fashioned American meal and experience. I was wrong. It was like I walked into a foreign country. And the food left A LOT to be desired... including flavor. Eggs were overcooked. Bacon was practically dehydrated. Biscuit and gravy very bland. Not many breakfast options either. Cute place but not recommended. Only giving 2 stars because we enjoyed the signs decorating the interior, and the food came out fast. This will be a short review. My family and I were heading back from Ft Collins when my wife suggested we drive through Berthoud. Having never been before, I said why not. Arrived about 10:45 and because I skipped breakfast, I was really hungry. After a couple pf false starts (other restaurants closed or lines too long) we stumbled across Grandpa's Cafe which claims to be a town "icon". Not one to let a claim like that go unchallenged we stopped in to see for ourselves. Despite having a hankering for breakfast I opted for Grandpa's handmade local burger and fries. Verdict: best hamburger that I have had since moving to CO in 2012. Wish I had snapped a photo, but I could tell from appearance it would be good and it ended up being great. I was a bit nervous as we walked in at 6:00 on a Saturday and we were the only people in the restaurant. The server informed us that Breakfast and Lunch are busy but they have a lighter crowd for dinner. The waitress was kind and attentive and helped ease our nerves. Drinks arrived in fun Mason jar cups and the kids loved the chocolate milk. Personally I opted for some sweet tea and I will say that was my one big dissappointment for the night. The tea just tasted off I'm not sure if it was old or just a sub par pre-mixed tea, but the south would not approve of the sweet tea experience I had when I went in. When we ordered we tried a smattering of both breakfast fare as well as the lunch/dinner options. The pancakes were hot fluffy and gave that great home town diner feel. Eggs were scrambled with cheese and fluffy hot and delicious. The breakfast burrito looked a little messy but once we took that first bite it didn't matter. The green chili was thick and delicious and the sausage and potoates did not dissapoint either. The only area of opportunity with the breakfast were the grits. The grits were a bit lumpy but being it was 6:00 at night it was not the opportune time to try them and I am hopeful that in the early day they are a bit fresher. The Patty Melt was the burger of choice and it was fresh and juicy on a wonderful Rye Bread. Overall would give it a 4/5 and gladly have another one. Onion rings were fresh and crisp but maybe a tad on the thin side for the onion slices. Not holding that against them, but would have liked to see just a bit plumper of an onion in there. Overall Grandpa's was friendly and the food was exactly what we needed. I plan to go back and hopefully see the Hustle and bustle of Brunch so I can experience the actual vibe of the place. What a little patriotic gem! I love myself a good breakfast diner and this cute little spot didn't disappoint. They have gluten free options galore and they actually "get it"when it comes to food allergies and taking all the proper precautions. The owner herself suffers from food allergies and lives a gluten free lifestyle!!!! If you're looking for mimosas and bloody marys you'll have to wait for them to get their liquor license back after it was revoked for staying open and defying draconian lockdown mandates (not for liquor violations). I love supporting small locally owned businesses like this one. They are taking all the precautions with masks for their employees and they have sneeze walls in between the booths. They allow you to choose how you protect yourself though with or without a mask. I had a nice little omelet and grits which was DELISH! My father in law had this amazing looking (and smelling) breakfast burrito smothered in delightful sauces that I unfortunately can't eat due to my own food allergies...... we were very pleased with the meal, and service! They are still seating and serving customers inside despite the government overreach that has shut down all the other indoor restaurants in Larimer County. They are sanitizing and checking employee temperatures and have barriers between booths. Staff are wearing masks but customers can wear them or not. My health, my responsibility. It is so nice to have someplace to go and just sit and have a beer, cup of coffee, or nice home cooked meal. Staff is awesome and food is great. Disappointing! 35 minutes still no food and it wasn't busy. Eggs over medium not easy as requested. Waitress replaced our pancakes after the cook told her they were old (we hadn't tried them yet). But why were they even sent out cold? Asked the waitress for syrup and she flat out told us they were already sweet. I told her I knew that but I still wanted syrup. Sorry but you don't question customers requests especially when it's for a simple bottle of syrup. I asked for syrup not her opinion. Then 55 minutes later I still had to stop her and ask for our check. read more
