Wait, how is it we've eaten here three times and I haven't yet written a review? Let's get that fixed! Wife N and I are in Fort Collins on what is becoming an annual trip. Saturday evening 7:30 found us in a Moot House booth. For a start we ordered the beet salad. Menu says roasted beets but we think these tasted boiled or steamed. That said, they were perfectly cooked, adorning a mixed green salad. I probably would call this a mixed green salad with beets, rather than a beet salad. Greens made up 80% of it. Still a decent salad. For mains, I ordered their Fish and Chips (2 and 3-piece available) and she ordered the Parmesan Sea Bass. The fish and chips were great, crisp, not greasy, and the shoestring fries were fantastic. Sea bass was tasty, Parmesan crusted and pan seared with charred lemon and capers on it. Yum! In prior visits we've had their wedge salad, Brussels sprouts, Reuben, Caesar salad and a few other items. Some better than others (loved the Brussels!) but all were above average for the price. This restaurant has been my mother's favorite forever, literally decades. She insists on taking us out to the Moot House every time we visit. Usually, the food is good and the service is excellent. Well, today she and I had dinner and I was very disappointed. She had the Pub Steak which is her go to dish, although over cooked, she was pleased. I ordered a medium rare ribeye steak. Unfortunately, the steak was almost well done, not even a hint of pink. I am sure most of us have experienced that at some point. I pointed out the problem to the staff and a 'manager' promptly came out to apologize and offer me a new steak. I accepted the offer and finished my potato while watching my mother enjoy her steak. The manager returned with my recooked steak and asked me to check the doneness while she was there. Guess what, it was still overcooked! I did not want to wait for a third steak, so I be agreed to eat the steak, which was OK but not the juicy medium rare ribeye that I expected for $45. To top it off and the real impetus for writing this review was when the manager suggested that if I want a medium rare steak I should just order it rare. Really? To close, all of the wait staff were great, friendly, and efficient. Maybe the waiter was new, because he said that he was sure he could get a discount on the bill for the trouble. I wasn't fishing for discounts, I just wanted to eat a good steak. Unfortunately, the management did not share his interest in admitting their failure in the kitchen. So for me, a 3 is a solid average meal with good food. We went here on the Mother's Day brunch, and I had the glazed ham with mustard sauce and colcannon potatoes. The potatoes were by far the star of the show; the ham was fine. The mustard sauce was good. It was it was a lovely meal. We also had the artichoke dip to start and it was actually very good. It was creamy and cheesy and I would've almost just had a whole bowl of that. My table mates had the Parmesan Seabass, which was a hit and the burger, which was a solid burger. I have a feeling that this is a place where people go for drinks as most of the tables around us had cocktails but I can't speak to those. We did notice several mocktails on the menu which is always great! Wheelchair accessibility: there is some lot and street parking with accessible spaces close by. The front door is heavy and so you'll probably need somebody to help you open it, and the spaces between the tables can be a little tight although there is both seating on the patio and inside that would be accessible for wheelchair users. The bathroom door isn't too heavy and there is a large accessible stall. read more

The restaurant has an English Pub feel to it and is decorated as such. Many seating options both inside and out gets you to a table quickly. We were pleasantly surprised when our meals arrived as they are delicious and the portions are quite big. Service was friendly and quick as well! read more

Pretty good experience. Ordered the prime rib in medium and got it barely medium rare, but it was flavored well and I didn't want to wait for a redo. They were out of baked potatoes. Overall their food is very good. However, they need to take the clam chowder off the menu. It tastes like it comes from a can. Also, the happy hour Caesar Salad is too basic. Their regular Caesar is much better. read more

Stopped in here after a long day of shopping, very inviting "homey" feel when you walk in the door. The vibe is very positive. Seems like everyone was enjoying themselves. We were greeted with a smile from the hostess and as well from our server. She was very attentive, but appropriately so. They have a great happy hour- I recommend the wings, the shrimp cocktail, the spin dip, and the happy hour martinis were also very good. The veggies that came with the wings and the spin dip were fresh and hearty. I almost ordered extra of those. Definitely will be back to this spot!! read more

The last time I was there I ordered stuffed mushrooms and other things. What stands out in my mind were the mushrooms. I should have sent them back. They were on the happy hour menu which shouldn't be an excuse. Shameful and ridiculous. They were tasty but the mushrooms were as big as my baby fingernail. I haven't been back. They should try to provide a happy hour like their related Austin's on the corner of Mountain Ave and College. Best happy hour in town. read more

I ordered the large size fish and chips through DoorDash. Unfortunately, the order came without the fries. It had the ketchup for the fries, but no fries. Very disappointing. I've emailed the moot house for a refund. The fish was good. I got a lightning fast response from the assistant manager who will be refunding my order. One day we decided to take a little trip to see our daughter over spring break. We live in DFW. She is in Colorado. We left about the time a snow storm was starting in New Mexico. A nice little 12 hr joy ride turned into a 1.5 day ordeal. Anyway, for supper we decided on Moot's to help soothe all the road sores. The meatloaf and mashed potatoes were perfect comfort food! Cheese Kurds were tremendous. Warm, tasty and hit the spot. For desert it was something like a bread pudding. Again fully wonderful. Sorry, I don't recall the name. After a long day of driving, My mother and I found this pub at the last minute and decided to give it a try. The pub it's self had wide open spaces, plenty of room for different numbered groups and the decor reminded me of pubs in jolly old England. We were happy we did, the drink menu was full of things that peak my interest, the food was so delicious and the service was spot on. We got there an hour before closing but the staff kept their attention on us as we dined. This was well worth the drive to it, parking is a bit of an issue but overall we had a great experience. For decades I have relied on The Moot House for great mostly American food a bit upscale to take the family to, though the prices are still OK (unlike at Sonny Lubicks). I do miss the old open salad bar and live Jazz they used to have, or it just wasn't the right night to see those in recent years. Always a good selection for a well dressed date! read more

Went to the Moot House for Easter Dinner with a party of 7 after church. Table was ready on time and the server did fantastic job, very attentive. Food was good. We haven't been to the Moot House is a couple years. We went thru all the hoops with the reservations etc. but were shown to a busy, noisy part of the restaurant - we moved to a quiet room instead. We were celebrating two birthdays. I made a special point of looking forward to the fries, but they were not hot and were re-delivered after we finished eating so forget that. My wife's salad/soup was incomplete compared to my daughter's same dish. A different person than your server brings you the food. Our sundaes weren't really something to write home about - the ice cream and whipped cream tasted 'budget'. We can spend lots of money elsewhere. read more

We decided to spend one of the most important celebrations at Moot House, our 50th Anniversary, and were so disappointed in the food! (We chose Moot house because of the roominess it has for my husband's walker) Our baked potatoes were underdone and cold (didn't even melt the butter!) My husband asked to have his steak and potato heated and it came back the same, again the butter did not melt. Great service but wasted $$. read more

Moot House has has been around a long time in Fort Collins and we can still understand why that is true based on our last visit. The prime rib is melt-in-your-mouth good! They only serve it two days in the week: Friday and Saturday. We were there on Saturday at 5pm and got the last dish. Everyone after us was told they were out and I actually heard one table discuss leaving because of this. The fish and chips were good, but the fish did seem smaller than you'd expect. The coleslaw needed some attention as it had no flavor. The staff are all very nice and we had a good visit. The booth we sat in had rips on the seat and needed some repairs at risk for feeling old and run down. read more

We walked in without a reservation....on Valentine's Day (side eyes husband) but we were able to get a table in the bar area. What a fun place to eat! Moot House has the food of a steakhouse with the chill vibes of a local restaurant. The servers were kind and fantastic about checking in. My husband had the Pub Steak - it came pre sliced and cooked to perfection. I stuck with my usual Moot Burger - it's juicy and delicious without sitting heavy in your tummy. I stopped by The Moot House because I was walking by and needed to pick up dinner. Called in a pickup order for chicken fried chicken with country gravy with a side of mashed potatoes. Now, one thing you need to know about me is that I LOVE country gravy. Love. Obsessed. Never pass it up if I see it. And this one, despite having to sit for a bit, was delicious. Thick, but I prefer it that way. And the chicken was fried so beautifully, still crunchy despite being in a container for 15+ minutes on my trek home. And their mashed potatoes with a little of the gravy really hit the spot. Did I mention that I impulsively added their day-of special, just because it sounded so good? Braised short ribs. Yes, please. The staff was so gracious of me not only being early for pickup but adding another dish and messing with their timelines. Payment was painless, staff so nice despite me getting confused with the text notifications and it being a packed Friday night. They were very fast despite it being busy. Very impressed. I saw also they have a patio around back, which means I absolutely will be back. Nothing fancy, but then that's what I like about this place. read more

Been coming here (when I've been in Fort Collins) since college days back in the 70's. This place does not disappoint. This is where my folks took me after graduating from college and getting my commission in the USAF nearly 50 years ago. It's also where my ROTC 40th year reunion met for dinner. It's been updated and remodeled over the years but it still has the feel of a first class English pub. This time I had the blackened prime rib sandwich (it was lunchtime) and it was out of this world good. Check out the Moot House if you are looking for a unique experience in Fort Collins. Good news! The fish and chips are flakey and light. The French fries were nothing special but, the fish totally met my hopes and expectations for a British pub. Lunch would be a smart option if you want to save a little money ($19 FnC). One thing that was unusual was that the French onion soup didn't have much broth. Usually it's just the opposite. I'd really have liked it a lot with more liquid because the cheese was baked well. Maybe next time. I sat outside on the patio to enjoy some peace and quiet on a Sunday evening. First, the food and the service were terrific. I haven't had vegetable beef soup as an example, since childhood. Delicious and filled with beef. But most importantly, I had them box the salad I also ordered. And I left it behind. I called the restaurant And initially they couldn't do anything about it. The manager called back two minutes later asked me what happened, and then told me to come back in today and she would give me a new salad. My rating reflects the incredible service we received from Bridget E. I was a bit unsure how the evening would go. When I checked in for a reservation I was greeted promptly and offered to head to my table. As I was waiting on a few more I decided to wait at the bar and grab a beverage. I sat for quite a bit while I waited on the two bartenders to finish their conversation and then help other customers that came in well after me. Another patron even laughed every time they walked past me or continued their conversation without asking if I'd like a beverage. Once seated it was night and day for service. Bridget's attitude and service was top notch, I don't think she ever stopped smiling. She was extremely accommodating when making changes to dishes and was so quick with refills. All of our food (shrimp both grilled and beer battered were delicious) and the others in my party said the French onion soup was perfect.
