Came here after we worked up an appetite antique shopping. This spot may look like a typical dive bar however the food was superb! It was basic bar food but the burger and fired chicken sandwich were perfected. Service was great, seemed like one woman doing it all. Tons of pool tables to play on and a few other arcade games. Lots of TVs to watch the game. We sat at the back a played a few games. Had a wonderful time. If I am ever back in the area, I would be happy to stop here again. Overall, 4/5 stars read more

Gotta love it when you walk into a bar and they holler at you,welcome in! Ice cold beer, good bar food, nice crowd,extremely clean. This isn't your average craft beer house and I don't think they want to be but it's a good bar with good food and good people. We were on vacation and passing through Fort Collins looking for a place to eat when we found Matt's Place which offered American Cuisine. When we entered we were warmly greeted by Tish the bartender who immediately made us feel welcome and right at home. We ordered lunch I had the Club sandwich which was delicious with fresh turkey and ham. Others in my group had the Chicken tacos, the BLT. a chicken side salad which was huge. The green chili stew was amazing. Just to warn you save room for the homemade desserts made by Tish. The owner Matt was there and came around greeting everyone including us like we were old friends. As we were about to leave it started pouring so we extended our visit ordered some margaritas and shot some pool and had a great time. We found Matt's Place on a recent "mom's trip" to Fort Collins. We wanted somewhere small to have a few drinks and enjoy some bar food. We happened to go on a Saturday night when they had karaoke and ended up having a blast. Servers were really friendly and attentive. Food was surprisingly good as well. On October 13, 2023, we went to have lunch and Tish waited on us. She was very nice at first but was annoyed by our presence at the bar. My pregnant friend asked for aus jus and horseradish for her sandwich, and she rolled her eyes and got it finally. We asked to get in a football pool and she was too busy and said, " Do you see anyone here but me?" When we finished our meal, we asked for to go boxes and didn't give us what we asked for. Then she asked us if we would leave the bar because someone wanted our barstools. When we asked the people, she was referring to if they needed or asked for our seats, they replied, what, no!! This place might look like a hole-in-the-wall dive bar from the outside. Hell, it might even look like a hole-in-the-wall dive bar after step through the door. But once you get inside, sit down, order some drinks and some food, this place transforms into something else entirely. Don't judge a book by its cover. Don't let your first impressions scare you away. Come in, sit down, and give it a chance before you turn up your nose and walk away. Allow me to break this down just a little... First of all, the drinks here are mostly your typical bar-type drinks, but I've found them to be even better in some cases. I have rarely been able to walk into a bar and order a margarita without it tasting like some lime juice mixed with rubbing alcohol. Matt's Place, however, makes a pretty great marg. It seems to vary slightly, depending on who's making it, but it's always great. On top of that, the food is well above average. I'll take this place over Chili's any day of the week, and my wife and I often come here for lunch or dinner. There's a good variety of items and there's a different special for every day of the week at a discounted price. The nachos here are amazing, but so are the fried mushrooms, the burgers, the steak fries, waffle fries, and everything else I have ever tried here. You can tell that the cooks in the back really care about maintaining high standards. Third, the people here are super nice. Despite it looking like the kind of place that a rough and tumble crowd might congregate, no one here is looking for trouble. Maybe it's due to being too far away from the college, or maybe it's just the friendly vibe that always tends to permeate the place. It's not just the patrons that I'm talking about. The servers and bartenders are some of the friendliest, most down-to-earth people I've ever met. Is service ALWAYS perfect? No, because people are human and sometimes have rough days, just like you and me, but I wouldn't hesitate to give the place a 4.5 out of 5 for service, for sure. Lastly, they have a dart room (bring your own darts, either soft tip or steel tip), some pool tables, tons of mounted flat screens for sports, a jukebox, karaoke on Saturday night. All in all, this place is one of the best-kept secrets of South FoCo. For the record, I was tempted not to post this review so that my wife and I can keep this place all to ourselves, but that simply wouldn't be fair to the owners of this amazing place. read more

If you're looking for a great little spot to come hang out, Matt's is the place to go. Relaxed, friendly, and incredible food! Better than you would expect. They're professional, and run a smooth ship. The staff is incredible and the owner is friendly, works behind the bar, and talks to all of his customers. I will be returning to Matt's Place for the full experience. Good drinks, AMAZING food, and a jukebox so I can play music and make friends with people. Matt's gets a 10/10 read more

I was out shopping and got hungry so I checked Maps and I saw this place. I thought a hamburger couldn't be too messed up so I plotted my course. I was met by Tish when I entered. It was a Wednesday afternoon and dark inside. Christmas lights strung from the ceiling and video screens on the walls showed mostly sports programs. My friend was running behind and Tish, the friendly bartender, said "Sit where you want." I saw high tables with backed barstools, several billiard tables, and a few cozy booths in the back. I sat in the booth; it was very clean and comfortable. I ordered an iced tea and got a menu. My friend showed up and found me, and also ordered iced tea. Tish brought the drinks and took our order. I had the mushroom Swiss burger with onion rings and my friend had a hard shelled beef taco. There were many things order like fish tacos and whole breast chicken. The burger was hot and delicious! Served with good lettuce, white onion, tomato, and pickles. The bun was a brioche and toasted. The onion rings were the best I've ever had! My friend loved her taco that came with a few tortilla chips, fresh salsa and good sour cream. We sat and talked for about an hour. It's a great little place for sports fans, bar flies, and friends. The food was amazing!! Tish was very friendly and attentive. Five stars!!! I wish I had taken a picture of my lunch. Next time I will read more

I have mixed feelings about Matt's Place. The food is always great. My issue is with some of the staff. Really the only one that has consistently pissed me off is Tish. She has an attitude that turns me away again and again. This time it motivated me to write this review, especially when I read another reviewer basically saying the same thing. She refuses to answer the phone so there is no call to order and then come pick it up when it's ready...I have to go there, order and then wait 15-20 minutes to get my to go. My job is one where I really can't leave to get food and have a "working lunch." I really just need to stop patronizing this business on weekdays when Tish is working because I know I'm gonna be an inconvenience for her and should just give another business my money. As I write this, my payment continues to sit in front of me waiting for her to pick it up and run it. I'm sure it won't happen until the food is here and then I'm gonna have to wait longer. I hope she reads this and then u set stands why I'm not leaving a tip today. read more
