Island Grill was a pleasant surprise we stumbled into on a drive through Ft. Collins. What a find!!! Great variety of beach food (like yummy Fish Tacos) in a cabana bamboo style setting that makes you feel like you're in Malibu or Maui. Menu is full of fresh salads, great burgers and tons of amazing finger-foods. The basket of beer-battered Onion Rings was SPECTACULARLY delicious as an appetizer. I had the Fish & Chips, which was a HUGE plate-full and really delicious! My wife had the Turkey, Bacon, Swiss & Avocado on a Ciabatta Roll -- WOW, terrific! And, service was OUTSTANDINGLY FRIENDLY and very efficient! Like I said, we found Island Grill by accident this time, but we'll definitely be back many times in the future! Fun island theme bar. The menu is all over the place. The service was great and friendly but a little slow considering the place was not very busy on an early Saturday. The deep fryer oil needs to be changed. The wings, mushrooms and fish tacos all had the burnt taste. read more

Went because of high reviews and the most random menu I've seen in a bit... tacos, burgers, stir fry and Mexican? It started OK, staff didn't notice we walked in but seated us when we walked up to them chatting at the bar. The server recommended a milkshake, which was prepared kind of like a virgin daiquiri. Didn't taste bad, but was definitely not a shake. Waiter offered to remake it promptly and without being asked, but it was still more slush than shake. Our orders (half an order of fish and chips, and a burger) took a weirdly long time. I ordered medium rare and got well done. Waiter never came back to check on us after food, I eventually had to walk over to the staff still chatting at the bar, told him enough time had passed that I'd pay for it but wanted him to know it was wrong. He offered a discount, which ultimately turned out to be a paltry 10%. He then finally returned to our table and said the chef had been cooking since 6am (!). It was 9:30pm at the time. The burger did have good flavor, so at least it wasn't inedible like the milkshake. We again had to go to the chatty staff at the bar to ask for our bill after a solid half hour and didn't get an itemized one until our second ask. That's when I found out I'd been charged for the "milkshakes" and the hilarious burger "discount". It was late, the staff were young and we did tip them more than they clearly deserved, but we won't be returning. Waste of time, money and calories. The live band was great. read more

I ordered two drinks at the bar, carried them myself to our table. I rounded up a 20% tip on the grand total (including the restaurant's 2.7% "credit card surcharge). The total was $18. Everything was hot which was nice but very bland. no amount of hot sauce, ketchup or tartar sauce could save my meal. finally added salt and it helped just enough. It's been quite a few years since I've eaten here. Recently, while using YELP! to find Mexican restaurants nearby, it popped up as a suggestion. Not only that, but there was a "pay $30 for $50" voucher offer. and also. a 10% off if we spent over $25! The food was good. My friend had the steak fajitas, and i had the Cobb Salad with fish. He had to take part of his home! There were drink specials, a lively crowd, and good choices of beers on tap. Charred piece of meat (I ordered it medium) on a grocery store bun with an actual rotten piece of lettuce and missing half the fixins. Inedible. We visited Island Grill on a late Sunday afternoon. We got seated right and and were offered a menus and drink orders. Waitress was very attentive and professional. There were 5 TV screens on with different Tokyo Olympic events on. We ordered the battered mushroom appetizer. It was served fast and was so rich. We ordered the house Margaritas. I watches the bar keep make them fresh. So refreshing on the hot day. The menu offers sandwiches, burgers, and a huge variety of tacos. We both ordered the Island Thai Stir Fry. Very good mix of spices, noodles, vegetables, and shrimp and chicken. I recommend this restaurant and will return. read more

So meh. We used to love going to the Island Grill when it was in Loveland and had tried this location about 8 years ago and I remember it being fine. But we were a bit disappointed this time. We ordered chips with queso, salsa and guac and the chips were so undercooked, they were still Tortillas. We asked for new chips and the second batch was better but not great. Sauces were all good. My husband got fish tacos and a teriyaki bowl. We like to order an extra entree just to try new things. His bowl was pretty good. The fish tacos were all right, Def not the best in town. That's laughable. Have you been to La Luz? Lol. The fish was VERY fishy. Mango salsa was good and the sauce it's served with is yummy. Couldn't tell a difference between his blackened and my jerked fish I got with my fish fajitas. The fish was so boring and sad. They give you a ton of sides with the fajitas and plenty of Tortillas which is nice when most restaurants skimp. Our Mexican rice was undercooked so think crunchy. Our waitress was in training and did a great job except she didn't refill our water till it had been empty a long time. Also no apology or compensation for the nasty tortilla chips. We arrived to empty seats in the bar and we were promptly told by the waitress that they were all saved for the band. What kind of business is this? Saved for the band??? We took one look at the filthy floors after waiting to see if they made Mai tais and we chose not to stay and eat as planned. Our company finally was able to have an in-person holiday party since Covid shut things down in 2020. Worked with Ken Kuk (owner) to create a customizable buffet dinner for our 70+ employees who attended on December 7th for a Holiday Luau. While making plans with Ken, I asked him about his thoughts on entertainment. He recommended a one-man-band in Steve Johnson who kept a good vibe going throughout the night. Ken was also so very accommodating and closed the entire restaurant/bar for our gathering. Ken's staff the night of the festivities were amazing. The burgers are amazing, and nothing beats a Tasty Wave! If you are looking for a great lunch spot- this is your place. Drinks after work? YES! Nobody wants to watch your game at your house? They may be able to help you out. Brunch used to be cool. I do not know if they are continuing that in COVID times, but if you have an opportunity to indulge in that event DO IT. I asked to speak w/ someone regarding the issue but no one came. The waitress then came out and said they will issue a credit. I again asked is someone coming to look at the dinners but she said no. Such a beautiful restaurant. I was sad that the food was so sooooo bad. It was horrible. The onion rings were drenched in grease. Sent those back. I got the blackened fish tacos. The fish was dried out, the salsa was soggy. My tortilla fell apart and the rice was like an uncle Ben's rice that you heat up in the package and it was cold and the black beans were cold as well. I didn't want to send that back and be that person so I just pretended I was full. My ice water was the only thing good. The bartender waitress was fabulous. The cook is sabotaging the whole restaurant. Find a new cook. I saw him back there touching his face, head and mask with his rubber gloves. His food was awful. read more

I come here on occasion with friends for a drink and some apps; usually around happy hour on weekdays. Patio is comfy. The inside is quite dirty (kinda feels like stepping into a bucket of grease). I've never been here during peak times, with live music or on the weekends. It seems from reading the reviews, it's a wholly different experience between the two. Makes sense. The service is A-OK, as the three-stars imply. I've had a different server each time I've stopped in; a couple have been good -- attentive, but not over-bearing. Once (recently) I had a complete flake for a server, who just kept forgetting things. She stopped by three times to ask if we needed anything; each time I reminded her I needed a water refill and each time she walked off and forgot water when she returned. I eventually just had to get up to go refill it at the bar lol. She was pretty embarrassed, but as a server I can say, we all have those days and it's not the end of the world. I haven't tried too much on the menu. Honestly, I must admit their prices outside of happy hour are just ridiculous, in my opinion. It's a dingy, dirty old bar in midtown - yet most of their menu items are $13+ ... that doesn't add up. That said, the wings are good (try the Honey Sriracha if you like some heat!). The sauce is amazing, but the chicken itself taste iffy ... not sure how to describe it. It tastes old ... I read anther yelper's review saying she was disappointed by the fact that their fried pickles are spears instead of "chips" -- I guess it's all about personal preference on this one, because the spears are the ONLY good kind in my opinion. Well we went to Island Grill tonight after not going for a couple of years. The place needs a good cleaning, remodel (to get rid of the old and bring in some new) or just hose down with some degreaser. The food was an 8 out of 10 for this kind of eatery. I was looking for a burger taste and I got what I was looking for. The burger was not a medium rare, it was a mostly rare. But it was also not overcooked as are most burgers when you order medium rare. Our table staff was very good and very patient but seemed like she was over worked as she had tables all over the place. Thank you for your superior efforts. We had a big table seated next to us with rude speaking and loud 20 somethings. We also had a 4 top next to us that was there when we were seated that had the curse words flying. Spent the last 3 days packing and all of today moving. Was craving a cheeseburger but really didn't want to cook so I ordered from Island Grill. Sadly my first experience here was incredibly disappointing and very annoying. I ordered a build-it-yourself burger medium rare with cheddar and onions, lettuce wrapped. The meat was so over cooked it was almost rubbery and there was no cheese and no onions. I ended up having to doctor my burger, in turn basically having to make my own dinner which is exactly what I didn't want to do. I will say their fries are very tasty so I'm hoping that my bad burger was just a fluke. Maybe the cook was having an off night. read more
