Disclaimer: I've eaten at several other locations in other states, and it's *never* my favorite place, but I've had decent meals. Despite my lack of enthusiasm about the chain in general, I chose to try First Watch because it's in my neighborhood and I felt obligated. After being ignored for at least seven minutes - I didn't start counting right away - in a fairly empty room), I snagged a server and force-ordered the smoked salmon frittata. It took about three requests to get water, and the juice I ordered never arrived. I finally ordered tea instead, and that something made it. The frittata took a reasonable amount of time, but was flat and overcooked, but I was starving, so I ate more of it than I might have otherwise. By the time I was finished, I'd already decided that - despite the friendliness of virtually everyone in the restaurant other than my server - there wasn't anything special enough about this particular location to inspire a repeat trip. Plus, it's in the Sprouts parking lot (and Zoe's Kitchen is behind Sprouts), and I'd almost always rather go to either of those. It's a good place to meet, but if you're doing for delicious breakfast, I'd shoo you off to downtown. I can admit that those freshly squeezed concoctions can be delicious. More tempting, of course, if it wasn't directly in front of Sprouts. read more

So, the wait time affects my enjoyment of the food. I've only ever gone on a Saturday and Sunday mornings, the wait is always over 45 minutes long. Is the food good, yes. Is it wait 45 mins of longer good.... no. Service is their issue not food. It is totally worth a 30 min wait! read more

This is an amazing restaurant with a wonderful staff. The avocado on gluten free toast was delicious. Coffee hot, vegetarian options plentiful. The host, wait staff and management went above and beyond for our Foundation's catering needs. Decatur is lucky to have this spot! read more

If you want to spend hours waiting for food & be barked at by the "host" then this is the place for you. Their customer service is awful!! The food is decent but not worth the 2 hr wait. We put our names down on their online system at 12:08 (which indicated a 30 min wait) and checked in at 12:20pm and were told we would get a text. We never received a text about our table. We were waiting out in the heat for a full hour before going in to ask when we were up. When I calmly asked the blonde woman host about the wait she snapped at me claiming she had been texting this whole time - I showed her my phone which had no text from their system. She then said "Well, are you ready now or what?" Maybe their system was down, maybe the short bald guy growling at door never pressed the button alerting us to come in, I don't know - what I do know is that they should check their system before blaming customers. We finally sat down at 1:00pm and ordered our food only to wait another FULL hour since our server apparently put our order to go and hadn't realized it. We finally were eating at 2:08pm. And the amount and quality of food is good for the price. My teen son always leaves happy! Love the look and feel of the place, too. Good breakfast spot. Healthy options for people with dietary restrictions. Large portions, you wont leave hungry. They have a kids menu so its great for the whole family. I live a few blocks from First Watch, so I come here often. I like this place very much. I had shrimps and grits which was not good because the shrimps were not saute before added to the grits. So the shrimps tasted boil in the grits. The grits too thin, do better with menu guys. read more

We really enjoyed both our first and second experience here. Trying to eat healthy when dining out is always a challenge. You never know what your protein is cooked in(butter and heavy oils are common low cost options for restaurants), and what amount of processed sugar went into the dish. With First Watch, we feel confident knowing that we're eating delicious meals with a few whole ingredients. You still have to make some modifications to make your meals "healthy" when dining out, but they offer a good starting point. Review would be five stars but the reception/pay/hosting area up front was poorly designed without thought from the developer. It can get really crowded there. read more

My wife and two friends decided to bring our families here for Sunday breakfast/brunch after an early church service. I have been to First Watch from when I lived in Maryland. For the life of me, I do not understand why every First Watch that I go to feels so crowded, tight and cramped. I put us on the waiting list via Yelp on our way so I understood we would have to wait but the real estate at First Watch is never large enough. People were everywhere and there was disorganization with to go orders. That being said my friend choose this place because he and his wife had never gone and they figured they would have healthier options with me being Vegan and my wife doing no eggs or dairy. I have not gone to a First Watch since I went Vegan 5 months ago and I figured they must have Vegetarian/Vegan choices that I had not paid attention to before. I was wrong. While they do have a few items you can make Vegetarian/Vegan, there is nothing that stands out for either. My wife asked if they had any almond milk/creamer for coffee and again nothing. For a company that prides itself on being "all natural, organic, etc" I would expect some effort put in to accommodate those on those type diets or those with allergies. I asked if the pancake badder had egg in it and it did of course. I actually broke my own rule this one time and ate Vegetarian because the Matcha pancakes sounded great even though they had eggs in them. I ordered plain grits and they still had a glob of butter on them. I realize I am now back in the Deep South and not Mid-Atlantic but come on man. The wife and I had been wanting to try First Watch ever since it opened. Sadly, we were not impressed. We had brunch and what should have been simple preparation took forever and was done poorly. My wife had a pancake and eggs, both of which were between room temperature and cold - which probably indicates it sat on the counter for a while. I had a sausage a mushroom skillet. The ingridients were not mixed well - all the sausage was on one side and the mushrooms the other. The entire dish was burned - especially the mushrooms and onions. By burned I mean charred black so that the burnt taste permeated the dish. Yet somehow - after being over cooked and served in a skillet - this dish too was room temperature at best. The server was pleasant enough but let our glasses run dry and never checked back with us. The menu looked interesting and if the kitchen had more training this might be a better place. We may try the John's Creek location which is closer to our home but I doubt we will be in the Decatur location again. read more

Amazing restaurant with the most hospitable and kind owner! The food was delicious in itself, and the service great but the owner went out of his way to make sure we were well served and even gave us a sample of his homemade jam to take home and a sample of some AMAZING beef jerky. I came here to meet one of my sorority sisters who was visiting from out of town for Saturday brunch and I had heard great things about the other locations and I have hopes for this locations future but on this day, it was not a good day. Super busy but our waitress was not on her game. For me the service can make the food taste better and the service wasn't good. At this point I don't even remember what my order was but it was a breakfast bowl of sorts with the farmers veggies that sounded great on the menu. 1st up I ordered the Bacon Appetizer also known as Million Dollar Bacon. It was good because I love me some good ole onk onk. it took it forever to come out that the food was right behind it. I remember now, it was the farmhouse Hash. the potatoes were good. the eggs were cooked perfectly but the food was not as hot as I thought it should have been but based on my waitress, i would guess she left it in the window because her time management among customers left a lot to be desired. My sis had to send her food back a couple of times because they couldn't get it right. Unfortunately, I just waited for 5 minutes with no one greeting me and I could see that no one else in the restaurant had ordered yet. Stuck my head in the kitchen and someone yelled "I'll be right there". Two more minutes went by and they weren't, and then neither was I. I don't know what the situation was, I don't know what was going on. I do know that there are tons of other good restaurants right around there, so why would I wait? I had a good time at a First Watch in Alabama. So I was very excited when I saw that one had opened in Atlanta area. Yippee. I met up with a couple of girlfriends for brunch. First Watch is only open for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. There is no dinner service. I was the first to arrive so I put our names on the list. There was a little bit of a wait. Luckily, we were ready to go once the rest of my party arrived. What good timing. I ordered the bacado omelet. The Bacado includes bacon, avocado and Monterey Jack. It is topped with sour cream and served with a side of housemade pico de gallo. Doesn't that just sound yummy? I will order almost anything that contains avocado and sour cream. This spot was busy on Saturday morning. We were seated quickly, which was nice. It wasn't clear why, but there were several un-bused tables that we walked by on our way to our ultimate spot. There seemed to be a disconnect between having people waiting when there were empty tables that even a manager could help clear to get folks seated faster. But I digress...the presentation of the Tri-Fecta could've been a bit better, but the components tasted good. The eggs were a smaller portion; the menu said two eggs, but I guess they were the runts of the carton. The blueberry multigrain pancake was tasty and quite large. Unlike many spots, they are legit grainier rather than fluffier--so if big and fluffy are must-haves, stick to the regular pancakes. The chicken sausage tasted good too. The million dollar bacon was just ok. I thought the price was too high for what you were served. It looked pretty but it wasn't anything spectacular. The server was nice and attentive. read more

This place has severely gone down hill. Our table was sticky, the menus were sticky, our coffee cups were sticky (gross)and the wait staff person was awful. We had to keep asking for him but when it was time to bring the receipt, he was Johnny on the Spot but then he disappeared. We went to the register to pay and no one was there. He noticed us but he just ignored, waiting for someone else to do his job. A female was busy tallying receipts at a table and unfortunately, we had to disturb her concentration along with some others wanting to pay. The food was awful, too. Long waits! So we expected the food to be amazing. It was just ok. Kinda confused over what the hype is?

My first visit was on May 14, on Mother's day, we wanted to make reservations but that was not an option, so I was expecting hours of tedious waiting time but it did not happend, I was happy, I was surprised the way the staff handled the crowd, I was highly motivated, we have been waiting anxiously to see what First Watch will ofer since the moment the new building and details were completed. I was determined to observe the place with detail and absorb the experience. I was not dissapointed, quite the opposite, in fact, we have been indulging our senses, in only 10 days I've dined in 8 times (one day twice, for breakfast and lunch, our host was Marcus, awesome personality and excellence in customer service!!!), and 2 times I came to buy $120 worth of gift cards to give as Teacher Appreciation Tokens. OMG! I will go through the whole Menu so quick! We love the place!, we feel it our own, we have talked about you guys in both of schools I work. I was happy to see that those teacher's visited on May 26th to celebrate one co-worker moving to another school. One morning, May 15, I was taking my daughter to school and we were rushing, I decided to surprised her since it was her 11th birthday, we found the door open at 6:50, we got in, we were not turned away "we are not open, come back in another 5", no, no. Marcus started us with coffee and hot chocolate, my food smelled and tasted heavenly, my bacon was cooked to perfection, crispy as I like it, eggs were fluffy and melted in your mouth, the juices were to die for, the waffles delicious and the lemon ricotta pancakes, the bomb!, we were in and out in 15 min. We carried half to go since school opens at 7:20am. Rex was cooking!!! We wanted to repeat the experience and I promised my daughter that the day after school was over, May 26, we would go to the Massage place that opened next door and top the day with brunch at First Watch. No rush, just enjoyed our girls day out. We could not wait too long and wealready had dined several times after that. Also surprised our teachers with "breakfast is on us" they love it! I am happy to say I found a DM and the GM during my visits, I have spoke to them, letting them know the awesome team they have. They could be busy running the show but the team is incredible, wish I have the names to give credit all the cooks and the juice lady. The different host we encounter all highly motivated, friendly, knowledgeable, fast, were great. Excellent service always. I hope I remember the team members names right, Lindsey, Molly, Ashley, Cynthia and Marcus, Marcus being my favorite!!! Thank you all for offering us, here in Decatur, GA a so refreshed dine option. You will be seeing us for a while, we also have moved closer to our schools and a quick bite in the healthy side it what we needed it. Our first choice gift now are First Watch gift cards, there is always something delicious to try. If you are rushing the "to go" option is the best choice, everything was fixed to the last detail, I'm a very detailed oriented person and was completely satisfied! Thank you all so very much!
