The caramel donut was the true buzzkill. The donut has a crispy creme brulee-like caramelized icing. The dough itself was too oily. Overall, the donut tasted odd. Today, I was in the mood for a good breakfast sandwich and decided to try Effin Egg, a place in my neighborhood that I hadn't visited yet. On this particular Friday morning, it wasn't busy at all when I walked in, so I was able to order right away using the screen. I went for the Effin Chicken sandwich, which features a fried chicken breast topped with cheddar cheese and effy sauce on a warm brioche bun ($9). I also got a cinnamon roll ($3.75). The wait was short, around 5-10 minutes, and everything came out hot, especially the cinnamon roll. It was so hot that I couldn't eat it right away, indicating it was fresh out of the oven. Both the sandwich and the cinnamon roll were nothing short of amazing. The brioche bun elevated the sandwich to the next level. The size of the chicken made the sandwich substantial enough that sides weren't necessary. The combination of cheese and effy sauce was perfect; I'm not sure what's in the sauce, but it's delicious. This place is eff'n good! I know it's hard to screw up eggs, but it's the green sauce is what makes it taste to good! It's not spice, but it does taste creamy. I ordered the CEO breakfast sandwich, the veggie sausage breakfast burrito and the breakfast tacos and coffee. Pretty good stuff. The food is prepared relatively quickly. Their whole concept is takeout so you order your food at the kiosk and wait for it in the pick up line. This is a totally cashless store. I definitely liked a scrambled egg style sandwich so the CEO, was right up my alley. The breakfast burrito was pretty good as well, it makes me curious to try more of them soon. If I had to pick a favorite so far it was the breakfast tacos, the added pico de Gallo was really fresh and made the tacos really savory. Definitely liked the coffee too. For amazing coffee at market prices, go to Dancing Goats Decatur about two blocks away (which also does serve baked goods, bagels). Both have SIGNIFICANTLY better atmosphere. Yum! I didn't know what to expect as there are no reviews and this is clearly a new business. I enjoyed Javier's burrito, but I wished there was more bacon and less black beans. It was however super filling and large, plus it came with a delicious salsa verde. The salsa was so fresh and really brought it to a whole other level! I work in government downtown Decatur and thought I would try this place even with the mixed reviews. Unfortunately, I will never return. When my colleagues and I entered the business, we greeted the individuals working behind the counter and were met with no responses. It's as though they were not eager to have us in their restaurant. I called the young lady over and advised her that it was very rude to not acknowledge your patrons. After all, your business will never flourish without the patrons supported it.
