I love First Watch as a chain but this one was disappointing. I arrived during the Mother's Day rush and knew there would be a wait but the two hostess' at the door were disappointing and made this experience very frustrating. We were told 3 times after having already waited for 40 minutes that it would be another 15. The hostesses never spoke to me directly but tried to address my son. Annoying. Then after telling us for the third time it would be another 15 mins, my mother pushed back and asked about the numerous tables that had been cleared and had parties of the same size or smaller sit there, some BS line about giving bigger parties priority was the response but we had already been there an hour at this point. A party of 2 was seated 15 mins before and they arrived after us. A party of 4 was seated 10 mins before and they arrived after us. Our party was 3 and I had a toddler with me that was obviously getting restless. My suggestion. Customer service needs to improve and as a rule, if the party has been waiting an hour, they get seated. No matter what. Do better guys ‍ read more

I love breakfast places and First Watch is one of the best. I ordered the Classic which includes two cage-free eggs, choice of protein, and multi-grain toast. I asked for tomato slices instead of the potatoes which they easily accommodated. I'm an iced tea fan and theirs is delicious. They even have Stevia. Pleasant music playing. read more

This is our go to family brunch spot. Menu has broad range of choice including healthy options. Never had a bad meal there. My family loves the Eggs Benedict, pancakes, power bowls, million dollar bacon, and multigrain toast (yes...toast). Service is almost always fast and friendly. Good hot pot of coffee - nice creamers left at table along with fresh water glasses. Omelette order of ham and cheese - changed greens to cheese grits - wonderful choice - crusty harvest bread tasty; second one was all meat substituting greens for grits also - another good choice - so much food I brought home a 'go box' half the omelette and my daughter ate the grits loving them. This yummy place is only open until 2:00 so the menu is breakfast item heavy. We've eaten at several locations so this time I decided to try something I hadn't yet It was chilly outside so something warm sounded comforting. I chose The Works omelette. Delicious flavor and ample portion. Comes with a lightly dressed spring mix salad and their really great whole grain artisan bread toasted. This location is a little loud and not very cozy. Disappointing to say the least. I've been to First Watch in Sarasota, Florida and loved it. When they started opening the restaurants here in Dallas, I was very excited! I ordered the Trifecta, eggs over easy, Belgian waffle with strawberries, pork sausage link. When I cut one egg it was fine. The other egg was so runny I had to take my paper napkin and fence off the watery run off, so my waffle wouldn't soak it up. I ate only part of one egg. The waffle was soft and tasteless. For almost $20 this was an expensive and very disappointing breakfast. Will not return. PS: while I was waiting for my check, another patron, setting behind me had issues with her breakfast also. Service is usually slow, food has been cold and not that good, not worth any wait. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at this location! My service was excellent! Everyone was very friendly and my food and coffee came out very quickly. The carnitas breakfast burrito was HUGE and really tasty! I hope it makes its way to the regular menu since it's a seasonal option. If my friends want First Watch again, I'll for sure suggest this location. I've only eaten at the location in Richardson. I had great service, good food with many choices, nice atmosphere very clean.

The place opened not along ago and so the kinks are still being worked out. The emphasis is on nutritious food and organic ingredients. Our brunch experience was ok but not outstanding. That said, I am willing to give them another chance. We arrived on a Saturday about 10:30 am and there was a long wait list but it moved pretty quickly. I would say we were seated in just under 30 minutes. The wait for the food, however, was interminable. We waited a really, really long time. Probably another 30 minutes. The food was just average. My turkey burger was ok but nothing special. The tomato basil soup was "pretty good," exactly what the waitress said. The star of the meal was the wife's banana pancake. Not only was it huge, it was light, fluffy, and very flavorful. Not at all dry. Her eggs, requested sunny side up, were not cooked properly and were not sunny side up. Her bacon came out crispy as requested. There was an obvious error on the bill that was corrected but should not have happened. The burger comes with an option for soup which I chose but I was charged separately for a bowl. These are the sorts of things that will get corrected as experience kicks in. The restaurant is really loud, actually hard to have a conversation. Outdoor seating on a nice day is a plus, but not a whole lot of tables. The ambience is modern, upscale, and casual. The popularity of this place reflects the pent up demand for breakfast and brunch places in Lake Highlands. I would note that the bill was reasonable--$35 for an adult breakfast, an adult lunch, and a kid's meal. That's about 1/2 what it costs at Cedar Vine down the street. This First Watch having only 3 stars shocks me because quite frankly this location gets something some of their other stores seem to have lost, that is Customer Service. One thing First Watch appears to be consistent on is the back end of the house as their food is always good. Service, or the front end of the house, is something they are at best inconsistent at. Some have great; some average, and some pretty bad. Unfortunately my last few experiences at the location I usually visit have been in the really bad category. Overall, it was just an average/okay experience. The food won't disappoint, but if you're looking for a brunch spot with the girls, this might not be the place. I would come back again, but there's plenty other places in the area I like more. Pros: I thought the breakfast was pretty good! It came out quickly, the way we ordered it, and everything tasted fresh. Although I would come back for the food, it wasn't anything that other brunch places don't offer. Cons: The atmosphere- it was loud (sound seems to echo in the room) and the seating/tables are close so it was hard to hear what my friend was saying. I'll probably come back when it's cooler and sit on the patio instead. The service- We never got a chance to try any of their adult beverages because #1: the server said they have a rule they can't bring your drinks until your food arrives....lame. #2: The server forgot to put in our drinks after our food came out. She didn't come back until we were already mostly done with our food so we canceled our drinks. Part of going there was to enjoy an adult brunch with drinks! Also, when our server finally brought us our checks, she didn't tell us that we're supposed to check out at the front, so we sat there for another 20 minutes until she came back and told us to go to the front. The menu had plenty of choices for all dietary preferences. We ordered plain bacon as a side and Eggs Benedict Florentine with fruit subbed foot the fresh greens. The food was very good I return to commenting on their Sunrise Coffee, nevertheless. It's ten out of ten when hot, my so much, just like any other, once it cools.
