Farmhouse Hash
Lucy B.

Tried something new today. The farmhouse breakfast hash with over easy eggs was the way to go! Good fluffy toast and eggs were cooked perfectly. Plenty of food, I was stuffed. Our server was very prompt and attentive, food came out fast. Very easy to pay by phone at the end which makes splitting the bill efficient. No wait, Great vibe as always!

Place is bumping today. Flying Pig race is right out front.

Office is right around the corner. Chad was my waiter this morning and gave excellent service. Always helpful and cheerful. Chad is one of you your MVPs, reliable and here daily. Food delicious. Love having you on E. 7th St.

Really great location, I really enjoy the rustic decor. The seasonal selections are always really good, and the service has always been great. Great spot for brunch, even if it can be a bit pricey, I've never left here disappointed.

FirstWatch is known for its creative versions of breakfast/brunch items, like the French toast I ordered today - tres leches French toast with fresh strawberries on top sprinkled with graham cracker crumbs; as well as their healthy juice blends. Service at this branch was efficient to our party of eight. We were all very pleased with what we ordered. I really enjoyed the new Watermelon Wake-Up juice I got - watermelon, pineapple, lime and mint! Three of us ordered the same and all were pleased with how refreshing the juice combo is! I gave this branch 4 stars instead of 5 because the ladies bathroom was quite filthy. It wasn't just untidy, but the floor edges had caked-on dirt, obviously haphazardly mopped.

Overcooked eggs

First time at this location so perhaps this is how it normally is. Sunny side eggs were brought out severely overcooked. Waiter offered to bring replacements, but the replacement eggs came in a cup and looked poached? Incredibly odd experience, I'm honestly surprised the first eggs even left the kitchen.

As a solo diner, I was offered a seat at the "community table", which is a neat concept I suppose. The biggest downside was the uncomfortable chairs. I started with the Morning Meditation juice from the Juice Bar, and added their antioxidant vitamin shot. The juice (orange, lemon, turmeric, ginger, beet, and agave) was wonderful. Unfortunately the vitamin shot made it too sweet. Next time I will skip that addition, because it was perfect before that. I had the Crab & Avocado Toast, which was delicious but definitely needed to be eaten with a fork and knife. Finally, the Million Dollar Bacon is absolutely worth the tiny upcharge from regular bacon. I ended up combining it with the crab avocado toast and it was so "fire", as the kids say these days:).

The photos and reviews online definitely drew me to this spot for brunch! I have been exploring the city, and invited another out of town friend to enjoy a great breakfast meal with me. We joined the waitlist easily and didn't have to wait too long - but did get stuck in the doorway waiting. The host looked defeated and essentially just grabbed menus as it was out turn in line before I told him we actually had a reservation - so then he double checked Unfortunately, the experience was memorable, and not in the best way after being seated. It was quite a busy day and I am sure the restaurant is a bit understaffed like everywhere else. We were right behind the welcome podium, and thus a part of all the action. I asked for coffee and never received the creamer with it. Apparently creamer is meant to be on the tables and I had to steal it from the guests next to us after waiting so long my coffee was cold. We both ordered the green juice and different omelets. I had to say, the green juice was delicious and my favorite part of the whole experience. Neither of us were able to eat our omelets - we both picked at the cold, thick eggs. They were fairly tasteless and the texture was not welcoming. Mine was supposed to come with pico de gallo and I had to ask for that too. At one point our server was standing next to our table, yelling over our heads about an incoming party. I do have to note that the same server brought us entirely new juices when we asked for to-go cups - definitely a kind afterthought. The most confusing part was trying to pay. We were not notified to pay at the counter and sat waiting. Finally we noticed others doing so, but the incoming guests were mixing with the paying guests creating a confusing clump of patrons.

The works omelette

I love First Watch but this location is lacking. Upon arrival no one acknowledged us for almost 5 minutes and we were the only ones in line to be seated. She stated she was new and didn't know where to seat us. Okay but you know to say "good morning" or welcome right? I didn't say anything only smiled and moved on. Next my order came out wrong and I had to flag down an additional server to get it corrected. When the order finally came out the eggs were cold. Our server was very nice but the kitchen couldn't get it together. Multiple orders were made incorrectly around us. Best thing about breakfast besides the company was the comfortable atmosphere.

It's like Denny's but with waitresses who don't have a cigarette dangling out of their mouth when they bring you your food.

The food is outstanding across the board--from the steaks to the cheese sticks--but the real star is their bread pudding. It's absolutely worth the trip from anywhere in the tri-state area. Parking is also easy and convenient, with a garage right across the street, as well as their own lot and additional street parking. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great meal and an even better experience.

First time visit to Blinkers Tavern at lunch time on a week day. The interior has a cool vibe-…read morerelatively small space, but quite a few tables outside (warm weather on an early March day) that were all occupied. They have a charming patio at the back of the interior space as well. I didn't realize they have their own lot, but in case it's full, there is plenty of street parking nearby. The service was excellent. Our server was very attentive and kept drink refills flowing. We ordered the pretzel and beer cheese and the poutine for starters. The pretzel was huge and tasty. I didn't care for the beer cheese, probably because I was expecting a more solid cheese product. I would describe this more as a cream sauce. It didn't seem to have much cheese in it and was very 'liquidy'. Also the ramekin was only half full. If it had tasted better, I would have asked for more, but as it was not, we didn't even finish what was given. I thought it was a bit pricey at $12.95 for one large pretzel. On the other hand, the poutine was fantastic! A very unique take on the dish with a mix of cheese curds (although they reminded me more of pieces of mozzarella sticks), french fries and Andouille cream gravy. I ordered the fish tacos which consisted of Blackened Salmon, Thai Chili Sauce, Black Bean Corn Salsa, Pico de Gallo. My order came with two and they were fantastic! Since Blinkers is known for steaks, I will have to give them another try at dinner time.

After seeing my niece graduate from college, our entire family and guests, all eight of us,…read moredescended on Coppin's restaurant for brunch. Normally, I find hotel food is just okay and nothing special, but Coppin's was a pleasant surprise. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, and our equally pleasant server quickly brought menus and asked what we would like to drink. When it was my turn, I happily ordered Coppin's Old Fashioned. I was the odd man out because everyone else ordered the Spring Manhattan. Judging by how quickly everyone's drinks disappeared, I'd say they were all very tasty. I was a little unsure about mine at first, so to make sure the quality and taste were consistent, I ordered a second, and it definitely was not a mistake. I ordered the B+G biscuits (which are made by hand according to server in the hotel) and gravy with an extra egg. Others at the table chose a variety of dishes, including the CVG, Cobb Salad, Bagel and Lox, and several other selections. Based on the clean plates all around the table, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My wife ordered a sample of banana bread, and I was fortunate enough to snag a small bite, it was excellent. After we had all finished, everyone agreed that my niece had made an excellent choice for her graduation celebration brunch. As my wife and I made our way back to Louisville, we both commented that we would definitely return the next time we were in Covington.

Going back and forth on stars for this one. Me and around 30 of my coworkers came into town for a…read moretwo day workshop and they got us a room block at this hotel. I ended up being in the North Building and cracked up when I walked into my room and saw I was in one of the Lightwell Lofts (a few of us ended up in them by chance, guess they included them in our room block lol). While the room was super cool and beautiful, there was a lot to be desired. After taking a million photos of the gorgeous room, I quickly realized a major flaw - the bedroom is upstairs, the bathroom is downstairs, and the staircase between the two is a crazy narrow spiral staircase. As someone that gets up to pee in the middle of the night, having to traverse the spiral stairs was terrifying lol. One of my coworkers actually swapped with someone who had a "normal" room because he was worried about falling down the stairs. My downstairs tv wouldn't turn on. I fiddled with the remote a bit, tried rearranging the batteries, but couldn't turn it on. I used the ipad in the room to put in a maintenance request, but no one came. I figured I would just let the front desk know when I headed out to dinner that night. Hours later, the front desk calls me to see if anyone had come to fix the tv - they hadn't. The girl was very nice and apologetic, she said I sent the request in the middle of a shift change and someone had accidentally marked it as complete. So she said someone would be right up, and he did come up. Handed me a handwritten note and a $25 coupon for Coppin's which was totally unexpected and a very nice gesture. Turned out, he knew exactly what the problem was - he said the remote was broken and he was supposed to swap it out but forgot. Gave me a new remote and all was good. He also mentioned there is a second remote upstairs for that tv. After he left, I went to look for it - there was no second remote. We held our meetings in the Scheper Room, which was also beautiful. The room was absolutely freezing the first day and I'm someone that prefers it a touch colder and was uncomfortable. We had to get them to update the thermostat and then in the afternoon it was way too hot. We had food brought in from the hotel and it was all fine, nothing super memorable. There was soup at lunch but the sign didn't even say what it was - just "chef's choice." The Italian hoagies were way too big and needed to be cut in half, I couldn't even finish half of one. The salad with fruit/pecans/etc was my favorite though. They had the completely wrong password on the tables for the Wifi but thankfully we figured it out quickly that we just had to use the room password. The second day for breakfast, there was yogurt on the menu and even on the sign with all the food - but there was no yogurt. Some of my coworkers were specifically asking for yogurt so we had to request it directly because it was included and paid for. Box lunches to take to go on the second day which were fine, I had the chicken caesar salad wrap. Housekeeping didn't come to service my room until 5pm when I was in there getting ready for dinner, so I was not able to get the room serviced. Just asked them for some more coffee. My conditioner in the shower was empty but I didn't bother reporting it after the tv issue and I had my own conditioner with me, so used that. The lotion at the sink was so thick that I could not get it out of the bottle at all, I had to use q-tips to get it out (it was nice quality, just kinda useless if you can't get it out of the bottle lol). Great local offerings on the mini bar and in the fridge. My coworkers and I got a kick out of the "intimacy kits" because we were on a business trip haha. The Magic 8 ball was fun, I loved the conversation cards even though I just read a few of them to myself haha. Even with the bedroom upstairs, it was nice to have the big double closet in the bathroom hallway so I really was just in the loft to sleep and kept all my stuff downstairs. The location is great, lots of fun stuff right nearby. The courtyard is lovely. I would say this is a solid 3.5 stars but since we can't give half stars, I'll give it a 4 because the staff was overall very nice and quickly fixed any issues, just a little annoying that we had any issues at all.
