    Burnt pork sausages
    Vicepresident M.

The first time we went it was ok. So-so service and ok food. After that, we ordered delivery. What a mess! Their "Maple BACON Croissant Sandwich " was completely missing the BACON. Their pork sausages were burnt to a crisp. On a positive note, the ladies at the greeting area are very nice and helpful but based on our recent food quality issues, we're never going back to this place or ordering delivery from them ever again.

    Morning Meditation

First impression upon walking in, kinda reminded me of cafes when I was younger. Though much more modern the nostalgic atmosphere was there for me. Not crowded at all. Was greeted upon entering and quickly sat at a booth. The waitstaff was prompt and friendly. I had heard of the million dollar bacon so I order that and the Floridian French Toast, scup of coffee and a refreshing beverage called the morning meditation. I was very surprised and pleased with the breakfast. Everything was perfect. Excellent presentation on the French toast. The fruit was fresh as was the whole breakfast. A++

    Honey Caramel Crunch Iced Coffee
    Kim T.

Went to First Watch for the first time for lunch today. It was light and delicious. I ordered their Skillet Hash Farmhouse plate and an iced caramel honey coffee. The coffee was not too sweet and was tasty! The skillet had so much flavor and was the perfect portion to not feel extremely stuffed after. Ambiance: it is nice and cozy inside and lots of seating as well as outdoor. This restaurant is placed at a shopping plaza so parking will not be difficult.

We were warmly greeted on entering. And had excellent service throughout. While waiting for our meal, we were checked up on. I mentioned that the music was blaring and it was hard to have a conversation and they immediately made it softer. Thank you! They had some lite entree specials and a number of appealing sandwiches, but I kept going back to those egg dishes. I ordered eggs Benedict -- two poached eggs over Canadian bacon on English muffins. And over the top, Hollandaise sauce. I chose hash browns as my side (instead of grits). I asked for everything to be well done including the eggs harder. The meal came out piping hot and everything was perfectly cooked. I loved it! And I'd order this meal again. My husband had a meal with two eggs, two sausage links, two pieces of bacon, and half a waffle. He, also, really liked his meal. We both felt prices were reasonable. I even took half of my food home. And we said we would both like to return soon.

The music was too loud for conversation and when a manager stopped by to check on us she immediately turned the music down. Great responsiveness! Thank you! I had the combo eggs, sausage, bacon and half waffle dish, which was perfect! We will be adding this place into our dining rotation for sure!

The vegetables were delicious - we had sides of sautéed spinach ($9) and charred Brussels sprouts (listed as an app at $14). A meatballs starter ($16) was also enjoyed - with a dollop of whipped ricotta in the center. Two of us had pasta entrees. The spaghetti could best be described as "industrial" or "so so" (as one dining companion said). The chicken in the chicken Marsala was "very good". The butterflied shrimp in the parmigiana was so thickly encrusted with fried breading, that the shrimp was completely overwhelmed by mouthfuls of crusty batter that adhered to the shrimp. It was hard to appreciate the shrimp at all in there. They were huge (in fact, they looked like small breaded chicken filets). But the excess of breading and batter overwhelmed the shrimp. Also, stomach not feeling so great later. I write this from the throne. The server had the manager come over to speak to us, and he insisted that's just how it's made and that was that. (He offered to have a few more shrimp cooked up but the meal was done at that point). $32 was a lot to pay for mediocre pasta and breading with shrimp. On the fair side, when asked about the shrimp parmigiana vs another dish, the server said that she would recommend the shrimp because there would be more to take home after - which was not our goal for dinner. For my meal I would give it no more than 2 stars but my companions enjoyed theirs more (despite the "so so" spaghetti), so I upped to 3. Will not be eating here again.

The vegetables sandwich that I ordered had so much oil but fortunately the bread soaked up some of it, so I just discarded the bread. My wife's salad with fish was very good. Also, the fruit served with my sandwich? Just perfectly ripe and enjoyable. One of the things that cracked me up here, being a laid back Texas boy, was over hearing all the incessant, noisy, nasal New York Jewish ladies whining, commiserating and ruminating with each other at the other tables. That was entertaining. I had thought about asking about the homemade desserts but the staff was slammed I guess cause no one came around to check on how things were going and if we needed anything else. Just as well. Counting calories. My tipping default would normally be 20% but today... not sure what I will leave lol.

The espresso martini was good as was the Point Break, with tequila and guava juice, very nice, very tropical. Avalon Beach House used to be Avalon Steak & Seafood House. The first time I went in 2022, I remember it being more of a traditional steakhouse. The Ave has grown significantly around it over the years, but it's still one of the staple restaurants in a central location. Overall, it was great meal with good service and nice atmosphere. It's sill one of the gems. We started with the wedge salad and cheesy bread. We wanted to get the Filet Mignon and the Prime Cut Ribeye to share them, but they were out of the Filet which was a bit surprising. Instead, we got the Crispy Chicken Piccata. They were both excellent. The fingerlings and asparagus were good and loved the red wine sauce. The crispy chicken was not too heavy, with lemon and an ample arugula salad. I don't remember the name of desert, but it was a combo of a browny with an Oreo cookie layer (which the kid in me couldn't refuse) with a scoop vanilla ice cream. It was great.
