First Watch was a great place for breakfast near our hotel in Boston. They have indoor and outdoor seating but on the day we were there they had closed down the outdoor area due to forecasted rain. As a result there was a wait for a table at 10 am on a weekday morning but it was worth the wait. The dining room has a modern waterfront look to it. The menu had many interesting options including power bowls where the base was quinoa. I ordered that for breakfast with an al a carte side of toast because their bread sounded different. Overall the dish was good but the bread didn't seem that different from bread at other breakfast places. The service was friendly and quick. read more

I've been to a lot of first watch restaurants, and usually they are pretty good....however I found this location to be substandard compared to others. I was greeted and sat promptly, but then it took over 10 minutes for someone to stop by and greet me at the table and ask me if I wanted anything to drink. After my drink order it took another 10 minutes for min to come back and take my food order. I went with the tri fecta (it's my go to order) and the food took awhile to come out, even though the place wasn't too busy. The bacon was substandard, 2/4 pieces I got were burned to a crisp. The eggs and waffle were both good. Not once did the waiter come back to refill my drink either. Overall this was substandard to the brand and I'm pretty disappointed. read more

So exciting that Boston now has a first watch location! It's in a great spot just near the prudential center, offering good comfort food breakfasts at a reasonable price for the area. Food execution could use a lift. The dishes we ordered both came with a green salad; however the salads were undressed and did not come with dressing on the side. We had to ask. I ordered eggs Benedict and my biggest qualm (besides the fact there wasn't an English muffin in site) was that the ham was sliced deli ham. It requires proper ham or Canadian bacon. I would not order it again as designed even though the eggs were well cooked and the hollandaise was tasty. My friend ordered an omelet and the holy donuts. Update to my initial review POOR management....need reservation system! If you're coming in a Sunday morning expect to wait anywhere from 1 to 1 1/2 hours!! They don't take reservations so you have to come in and put name in with host. Supposedly there's a QR code that they don't advertise enough so folks know to use it! I told the hostess at minute 60 that Boston IS a book a table online city. First Watch management should realize that they will keep customers and add even more if there are orderly and not chaotic waits. read more

I've dined at First Watch several times in other states but this location opened near me about two months ago. It's surrounded by great brunch places in Boston but still attracted a crowd-40 min wait. I was lucky to snag a seat at the back counter. Tip: you can 'join the wait' remotely from their website. Who knew that turkey sausage gravy and a biscuit could be just as tasty as pork sausage? Also had a fresh fruit cup that was delish. And check out this lavender lemonade cocktail. Ordered ham and Gruyère sandwich to go- comes with a bowl of soup or side salad. I chose the tomato basil soup. It was fantastic on this snowy day. My two servers were pleasant and efficient- they made excellent recommendations to me and other diners. Everyone sitting at the back counter was friendly and chatty. The food came out quickly, and was so tasty. My omelette was fluffy and filled with a great amount of meats. Great location in Back Bay, right across the street from the Prudential Center. I was thrilled to hear they were opening here since I'm already familiar with the chain from Florida. The interior is spotless, spacious, and offers plenty of seating, including bar seating. Service was quick and attentive. The menu is extensive, with breakfast, brunch, and lunch options, plus a few cocktails. I came into First Watch with my 2 friends with high expectations. I've been before in my home state and have always enjoyed it (I LOVE their food) and even came to this location before and didn't have an issue. I love the coffee and the food. But this time the service was awful and some of the food was undercooked. No issues with seating, as I joined the waitlist prior and once we arrived it was only 5 mins to wait. We got seated and were offered coffee, which we declined. We thought "oh they will surely bring water around, especially since we said no to the hot coffee." We were wrong. Next we order all of our food and drink items, which was a small wait for our server to come around to take it, but no worries at that point in the meal. We order some shareables: the honey biscuits and 2 orders of the million dollar bacon. I get 1 pancake and a coffee. We wait a bit, start to wonder where water is, and if we are going to get any. By this point we have been in the restaurant for 30 mins with no drinks on the table. And it's HOT in boston, we were parched. You would think we could call someone over to ask for water or where our drinks are, but our server was no where to be found. I couldn't even call a different server over cause they either missed my signal or there was nobody around. We then got our food around 45 mins from sitting, but we still had no drinks! No water or the coffee I ordered or the Purple Haze my friend ordered. They also left off one of our bacon orders, and gave me 2 pancakes instead of one (and I didn't want to start eating until I addressed this so I wouldn't be charged for the 2) They dropped off the food so quick we couldn't say anything about the drinks or food issues, so we continued to wait. At some point, about 10 mins after our food arrived, I was so thirsty I went to the bar to ask a different server for water because there were still no drinks. Right as I was at the bar our server saw us and finally got the drinks... I also told the server at the bar the we didn't receive our second order of bacon, so he was able to put that in for us. Our server (when they finally came around) said they would only charge me for the 1 pancake. Which was great! I then asked for syrup, because at that point I still hadn't touched them and realized I hadn't asked for any yet. Still no water and it had been another 10 mins btw. Our server said they would bring some syrup and left. Also asked her for water, and said she would get some... The server from the bar came around and gave us our 2nd bacon. And he forgot the water but then brought it a couple mins later. Our original server didn't bother to bring us any. I still hadn't gotten any syrup, and honestly how can someone have pancakes without it? Even the couple sitting next to us said that!! I asked the bar server to bring us some syrup. He said he would. 2nd time asking for syrup. More time passes, maybe 10 mins. I'm looking around for sometime to ask again. My friend waves down a different server for syrup! 3rd time. A couple of mins later finally I get the syrup. We are eating and the food is great, until my pancakes were raw in the middle :( So I stopped eating them and my friends told me I should speak up about it to the server. She finally came around with the check, and I told her that the pancakes were raw in the middle. She asked to look at them, I showed her and she said she had to go talk to her manager. She comes back 2 mins later and says, can I actually take those to show them? My friends and the couple next to us were like, "does she not believe you or something?" like why on earth would I lie about that? Idk that was a bit weird, and it felt weird the way it was approached. She comes back 5mins later and says she can comp, which is nice. She said they can remake one for me but at that point I didn't want to deal with it so I told her not to worry about it. Then we paid and left. It was just incredible the way that we could not get access to a server to ask questions, ask for things we needed, I swear she kept disappearing. It was just crazy honestly, and all 3 of us were lowkey flabbergasted, cause we have all been to it and loved it before. Also it was not busy. There was no line to wait, and plenty of open tables on the floor. And probably 5 servers for the restaurant, which would be plenty because it was not packed at all. Just disappointing. Obviously had a great time with my 2 friends, but we were thirsty, without syrup, and felt very confused because of all the trouble that occurred, especially since it was not busy. read more

The mushroom and sausage omelette I devoured left some space for...let's say flavor. It presented okay, and the dollop on top brought a bit of sharpness to the plate. The salad had the chills on this cold wintery Boston day, as it was brought completely naked. No dressing. No vinaigrette. Just the bitterness of arugula and the snap of lettuce. It didn't deminish the experience - it just wasn't amazing. So let's get to these little holy donuts - ehhhhh it came with a compote that was ehhhh as well. The donuts themselves had more powdered sugar 'dusted' on them then some 1983 movies... The flavor was okay - fried, corny, thick. All-in-all, I'd go back for a basic breakfast. 2/19/26 Tuesday 7:08am me and my mother came in to try First Watch for the first time! Place was very nice clean looking and the staff was welcoming and friendly with smiles! We ate in a booth very comfortable. I got the traditional breakfast. Home fries 2 eggs sausage and toast and I got the million dollar Beacon! My mother got farm house hash and cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream. I got a cup of coffee ( they give you a personal pitcher of coffee to keep at table so you can re-fill whenever you want! The bacon was phenomenal crispy sweet and spiced up a little! It was so good! My eggs over medium was cooked perfectly the home fries cooked delicious and seasoned, sausage was not cooked how I asked I ordered well done and had to ask to be cooked longer. But everything else was great! The customer service was amazing the staff was great love the vibes and ambience. My mother's hash was delicious she said she fully enjoyed it! The menu had a lot of good options, the place is brand new and beautiful, and in a great location. We got there at 10:30, it was pretty busy, our server Santhiago was very friendly and attentive. I got the lemon ricotta pancakes and they were awesome. I also wanted to try the kale tonic and it was excellent. Portions are very generous. Pricing wasn't bad at all, especially considering the quality and location. The manager, Dan came by our table and was very nice. The million dollar bacon was very good! Sweet with some spice and chew. I got a market hash and my sister got a turkey sausage and biscuit plate. My plate was delicious and the color of the eggs was stunning. Presentation was great! Some bites we're saltier than others but not enough to ruin it. Just a note. My sister thought her plate was good. Decent. Nothing memorial but not bad. We also got the tres leches strawberry waffles or pancakes, can't remember now but it WAS amazing! So good. Note that you have to ask for water. Coffee was pretty good and they have little creamers table side. Note that the sweetener selection is lacking. No Splenda at the table, only Stevia. Had reservations (no pun intended) about checking it out so soon after opening day and usually prefer to wait for places to work out the kinks, but my worries were unfounded. They're a well-oiled machine. Host explained 30-45 minute wait and we would receive a text when table ready and 40 minutes later I was sitting down with not a cup, but a pitcher of coffee! Lovely. Fast forward to a delicious kale cuke spritzer thing which was way better than it sounds. Carbs be damned, I opted for lemon ricotta pancakes and glad I did!! I was excited to go on a whimsical brunch with my close friends on a snowy Sunday. We came in with an empty belly and high expectations. Everything was going great: our orders had been taken, we'd been served hot drinks, and we were having a jolly time. But once our waiter brought out our food, his first question was: "Are you guys paying together or separately?" Personally, being asked about how I'm paying for the meal before I ever got to enjoy it is rude, and it ruined my dining experience before it even began. Once we were done with our food, our waiter didn't even ask if we wanted dessert; he just handed us our separate checks.
